Opera8.5 beta2 released!New tab-browsing feature

Pretty cool tabs!No annoying expiring-promption any more.And faster.but you still need some hack to opera.ini to move the cache files to your card.
:? Just wonder why opera still insistes on allocating the cache in the rom.

I just really like to know how to reduce the top address bar to QVGA :? and set the Display a lower % (example 90% or 75%) as default.

Been waiting for this. I may even purchase it at the expiry date!!! From first impressions and usage, this is the best 3rd party browser yet... I just wish there were more options like the ability to 'save as' a picture, like you can in PIE. Or background loading of tabs (as in firefox) and options for where to store downloaded files and cache.. i.e. I want to store them all on the storage card..
SORT IT OUT PLEASE.. Lets not make a opera out of it!!!

I'm trying to use Opera without a GPRS connection, ie using the usb cable connected to my pc. The problem is that it fails to connect.
Does anyone have any idea's?

Mine seems to be working when connected through Activesync. Great program so far. So much faster to load than Netfront and more full featured than PIE.

MiniMo will be better (it already works with Google Maps) but there's still a lot to be done. Opera follows suit with Explorer by taking columns of data and presenting them in a single column. For sites like this one, that means a LOT of scrolling up & down. You can choose not to fit to the screen, but then you have a lot of left/right scrolling too.
We really just need some 800x600 Universal-style devices with accelerated 2D chips...

I tried this on my wizard but it seems that the font on the address bar is not properly displayed. It looks like some weird language when i write on the address bar. Anybody experience this?

I'm experiencing the strange text as well, reminds me of the old "Dingbats" system font, just a bunch of symbols. Maybe we can find our common factor here, I'm running the new AKU2 rom without the ext rom installed (I tried mucking with it, which deleted it, and then did a hard reset).
EDIT: Mysteriously switched to a usable font, unfortunately I have no idea why

thanks for posting this. it sure looks a lot nicer and seems a bit more responsive than version 1.51, but uses a lot more memory, I'm down almost 2MB after installing. anyone else experience this?

I've been using this for a week now (got it from "It's Right - TNT") with no issues and is an improvement over 1.5x

Can't click the top bar battery icon unless I tap and hold and programs in the exclusion list seem to open up slow, other than that it's nice .

Yes indeed, we owe all thanks to It's Right for this. I was testing a ROM in August for another cook (not It's Right) that had it cooked in. To protect sources I couldn't speak of it..... but now that's history!

I've put this upgrade on my Jasjam with official Dopod 838pro WM6. Very stable, and I no longer have to hide the Today screen button due to SPB Diary font colour problem (previous version would make fonts all black). Well done!

hummm...for some reason it will not install on my Tytn II. i'm sure it's related to some security policy; i've modified the usual policies but no luck. any suggestions would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Redownloaded cab file 3 times until i got one that wasn't corrupted. all is working now!

so.... anyone know how to map "close" to a hard button? Or even map that little X-Button dropdown to a hard button? I've searched around and haven't found anything useful so far...

You use it to change the name of the Operator on the top right of the jewels screen.
You can put ANY text instead of you operator name (don't like operator name!!! Operator sucks!!)
No need of restart or any thing.
Saves settings after soft resets and off cycles as long as its got respective in Start up in Win.
Hope you fellasss enjoy.

you have to have it in startup folder for it to change after Soft Reset.

Hi Marios,
is not the theme, you can delete manila files from Windows folder ( 1864da05 for bottom one and 18c460d8 for the top one) in order to clean the curtains.

On some weekdays I have the problem that one or two letters are cut off in the middle. (German Rom - long date display)

Ugly Start Bar On SPB-MS3.5 with WM6.5.1 ROMs

On every WM6.5.1 trial, I get this problem on my TouchHD. But one of my friend who has Samsung-Omnia-i900 with WM6.5.1-23071 (I mean same version of WM) does not have this problem on his SPB-MS3.5.
So I thought this could be eliminated, but how?
May be with some Registry work, or any other else...

the Problem is caused by the showcase-Taskmanager.
You have to edit the corresponding registry-key which is
HKCU\Software\e-Natives Technology\Showcase\SUITE_PositionFix_Winclasses
There you have to remove "manila" from the value of the key.
After a softreset the problem should be gone.

Or, if Showcase is not installed, you should remove PositionFix shortcut from Windows/Startup folder.

I'll give that go as that's the only thing that's keeping me from using SPB MS 3.5 right now. (I mean with the new builds lol)

Yesterday was a great day that I found the solution with msaver42's advice, this was great. But suddenly this morning sthg happened to my phone and gone crazy with manila.
That registry fixed SPB-MS3.5 problem but now the problem is existing eith Manila, where it was NOT with it yesterday.
Is there any method completely get rid of this disgusting problem?

Bump. I have same issue with MS3 and task manager. Removing link fixed the MS3.5 page, but created the problem described above.

This is because that file or registry value were added to fix Manila. Removing the file or registry value fixes MS3 as it never had a problem with 6.5.1. Manila did, you removed it's fixed which bugged out MS3. So, choose one or the other.

This worked for me... i am in the uk and have o2 with the htc touch hd.
Problems before this were that other roms would not let me use sms. I then used energyrom 2381 which let me use sms, with spbshell but with the cut off bottom. I then used the cab on this part of the forum..and i now have a win 6.5 powered htc touch hd, in the uk with o2...so thanks again.

i delete "manila" from registry and reset device but nothing is changed. mobile shell is covering bottom bar completely.

[REQ] How to remove branded icon from Start Menu

Im pretty sure there was a small thread on this, as before I flashed my phone I had removed the vodafone icon from the start menu. Done plenty of searching with no joy. Anyone know of the tweak to remove this?

when you say "on the start menu" do you actually mean a quick link on the home page?
if you DO mean that you have a locked shortcut on the home screen, then use a registry editor and go to
hklm/software/htc/manila/home/
there you will see numbers, 0 is for the first link, 1 for the second, etc
go into the locked one and scroll down to isreadonly change its value from 1 to 0 and it should now be unlocked.

Afraid not. I mean as if you press start.. the list of programs.. Not sure what else to call it to be honest.

I have the same, I've got a feeling it's linked to the SIM card. Need to dig out my o2 SIM and see if it sticks an O2 icon in there...I wanna remove my CoPilot icon but if I try it says it's a system file and might screw things up!

it's an icon in the start menu, looks like a SIM card with a spanner on it saying Vodafone...I think it's the SIM manager shortcut

Can you not just delete the shortcut?
Use file explorer and navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ - it's in there.

Tried that before. It reappears after soft reset. There is definitely a fix

ahhh gotcha, the "get settings" sim card linkthat ideas branded to whatever sim you have in your machine. my bad.

think your talking about this little tweak...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable
Change to 0 and soft reset.
Then after deleting it shouldnt come back..

I know its not an issue/problem, I just don't want it appearing there. As I said, I had managed to previously removed it from the start menu.

I've hidden it using BSB Tweaks - set the "STK service" switch to off and hey presto no more irritating Voda icon

whats the reg edit it makes on it's own - don't wanna install BSB for one feature!! lol
