I have tried both ROMS, from, mUn ans LSVW.
When you start the roms
mUn says "Windows Mobile Professional"
LSVW says " Windows Mobile"
It there a difference between these versions of the mobile platform?
Different splash screens, no more different than that really
Actually, I think I've read somewhere that mun had modified/created the splash screen himself...
hence my point?
Sorry, should have been more explicit, the splash screens are different on the ROMS, mUn just happens to have professional on his splash screen, lvsw doesnt. There aren't 2 different OS's out there.
FYI, three versions of WM6 :
wm6 Classic (ex PocketPC edition)
wm6 Standard (ex Smartphone edition)
wm6 Professional (ex Pocket PC Phone edition)
Yes, but we're talking about Trinity, so Classic or standard don't enter into it

So, LVSW and mUn roms are both professional...
No need to argue more

Hello,
i've read it in web page but can't recall where that win ce 5 is out!?
If yes where can we get it from ?? How can i upgrade my i-mate PDA2k from win2003 se to ce 5??
thanks
windows on pda's is very very unlike windows on pc's
a rom requires to be 100% made for the spc device
so you cant get it ever! unless HTC makes a basic rom and
hand it over to the operators like o2 orange and.....
and about if it's out then i've not come across any pda's with it yet
I have seen a lot of reports, comparisons and evaluations of CE5.
BSquare seem of have CE5 ROMS avcailable for their products :
http://www.bsquare.com/products/bsp/amd_download.asp
Actually, it looks as though CE5(Macallan) was realeasd in July 2004.
You can get a device emulator for it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...12-CA31-4BE9-A3BF-B9BF4F64CE72&displaylang=en
and an evaluation version of platform builder to create os images for the emulator from here :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/getstart/evaluate/default.aspx
I was wondering if anybody else has tried SmartToolkit ALPHA-3C and got it running.
It does not start on my device with the LVSW WM6 (20070326_WM6_HERMES_WWE_3.23.0.2_1.38.00.10)
The developers page is a little vague about the system requirements
Device Requirement
All Windows Mobile Smartphone QQVGA (176x220), QVGA (240x320), Landscape (320x240).

Seems a nice free add-on...
The Hermes is not a "Windows Mobile Smartphone" it's a "Windows Mobile PocketPC Phone Edition".

You are correct. Somebody on the developers site answered the same way. Thought a ppc-phone=smartphone... Thought wrong...
Thanks for replying anyway!
I know for windows xp & such, you can change the taskbar, and completely overhaul the look of it.
Are there any such themes for WM5 yet?
in simple yes.
look for things like sdp pocket plus to change the home screen layout.
or wizbar advance / desktop these will change the look and feel to your device as a theme would in say xp.
or flash it with wm6
it looks so much better ;-)
but indeed with programs like wisbar and spb pocket shell, you can mock it up
where can one find wm6 for 8125? I am using cingular service. Tried to upgrade ROM to 2.26 and it failed saying this upgrade is not for your device.
Hi,
yesterday I was reading about putting new WM 6.1 on my 614c. After reading all day long other ppl experience about WM6.1 on their devices I decided to put it too….
The main reason I put it it was when I saw this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/meet/wm61-faq.mspx . (I don’t like 3th parity appz so my PDA can “look” different).
After WM was done installing on my PDA I was a bit puzzled. My today screen is/was looking the same like on WM6.
So is there by any chance something I’m missing here or theirs no such feature on our beloved devices?!?
TNX
Btw I have iPAQ 614c ROM WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20757 (Build 20757.1.4.0).
Hm... yes, you seem to have confused the home screen on Windows Mobile Standard with the one on Professional. WM 6.1 Pro's home screen is exactly like the one on WM6.
If you're really against 3rd "parity" plugins, I hope you're ready to wait until Q2 2009 - that's supposedly when WM 7 will be out.
That’s odd a bit.
Coz I taught it was like in Vista case. Vista Ultimate has all the features it’s up to the user which one he will use and which one not.
So from my point of view WM Standard has better GUI than WM Professional.
But nwm I will wait…
BTW tnx 4 answer and keep up the good work.
Hello all,
I'm looking for any program/hack to skin core components of Windows Mobile like buttons, scrollers, combo boxes, radio buttons, sliders... Since the first version of Windows Mobile MS hasn't changed terrible Windows 3.x like skin Even on new WM6.5 (except the scrollers). Do somebody know any program to change this awful old style? On Palm there are some programs (e.g. http://www.3gxsoft.com/palmrevolt/ ) so I hope there is any program even for Windows Mobile ;-)
Do somebody know at least how to change/add skin of these core components???
I think you forgot to use search.
There's an entire section on themeing, for example for the Diamond.
You can change some of the components via tsk files, but most of them require editing resource files like shellres, tshres and so on.
wisbar. (not WAD), just wisbar is only method for skinning what cannot be done in 6.5 feeble m$ methods.
