Long time ago i found a program on here that converted telephone numbers in text messages to names if it found them in your contacts. I for the life of me cannot find that program again, can someone point me in the right direction?
SMSDRfix
Dont remember where i got it but a search should do the trick

Hey everybody,
I really miss the SMSreport feature from my old mobile phones!! Even though you can turn it on individually for every SMS you send, this is not really an option if you send a lot of text messages :-(
There must be a registry entry where you can change the default from reports off to reports on. Does somebody know what this is?
If other people would like this problem fixed, please say so in this or some other post, to encourage some programmer to look into this.
Thanks for any help.
Manuel
P.S.: To turn on the SMS report when writing an SMS: Edit --> Options.
Hi There. I am really also looking for a fix to this anoying problem.
Perhaps a little app that does the click. A regedit or something.
Thanks alot
Alex
There are other threads on this and for the moment, at least, it is not supported on the XDA. I have looked and cannot find a registry entry or such. I have added this requirement to my 'possible development ideas' list
The only alternative I know which works is to use a special character string at the start of every text. This string depends on country and operator. For me, on O2 UK, the characters are *0# (thats a zero in there) so I enter it in the subject field (I set it up as one of my pre-defined strings) then enter my text as normal in the usual place. Other special strings I know of are: 111 for Fido and *noti# for T-Mobile US.
See here for more.
Sure... I used the search before. But in none of the topics there`s a final solutin.
So i thought I push this topic up again.
Technically a program or reghack must be possible...
Could somebody please figure that out.
Thanks alot
Alex
Hi All.
I have just got my M1000 and have got a quick question.
All of my contacts are surname/firstname.
Is there anyway to change this.
I have searched the forum but couldnt find anything
thanks
Tim
The only fixes mentioned involved changing these settings on the Outlook (i.e. the PC) side. For new entries, you can specify "File As (Firstname Lastname)" in Outlook. For older ones, you have to change them, and somebody on this forum wrote a utility to do that to a handful of contacts.
On the XDA itself you don't have an option to specify "File As". I've gotten into the habit of not writing the names directly but making the name dropdown appear (by clicking on the arrow to the right) and writing the full name in the "First Name" entry.
try pocket informant.
Very powerful addon for the PCC outlook.
Has the function u're looking for... showing first name then surname. Plus alot of extra functions.
thanks
After searching the forums I am unable to find an answer to this one.
How do I set HTC Home middle button (SMS) to open O2 SMS Plus instead of tmail when I press it. I searched the registry and came up dry and there is no setting I see in HHC. Actually if there is a way to set O2 SMS Plus as the default SMS/MMS application for the entire BA I would prefer that. I use Gmail for email and that requires tmail so I was afraid to change it in HKLM/software/microsoft/shell/rai/MSINBOX as I presumed I would lose access to Gmail.
Thanks in advance to all who answer.
Nobody knows
Well 2 days and 118 views with no responses pretty much implies that either I was not very clear or nobody has an answer.
In case I was unclear I am looking for a way to make O2 SMS Plus the default sms reader/composer instead of the MS one (tmail). But I must still use tmail for regular email such as Gmail.
Thanks again. Even if nobody knows this I have gleaned so much information from this forum/wiki that it won't hurt my feelings any.
You've probably had this answered long ago, but I thought I'd write in for anyone else who finds this thread.
The way to edit which program gets called through HTC Home is to edit the file HTCHome.dll with a hex editor, and then re-signing the dll. Unfortunately, HTCHome.dll only uses one reference to tmail.exe for both SMS and email, so if you change one it changes both of them. So the above isn't possible, I believe...
Since now I have been very happy with WM and especially HTC. But now I discovered, my contact not showing correct on incoming Messages or calls.
What I mean in detail is, that my Numbers are saved to the Phone only by using a Number like: +49179123456.
My Problem is, that now my incoming Messages from saved contacts do not show the Name, because in this case the message is obviously sent by 0170123456. The only way, for now, is to save contacts twice. I already searched the forum and found similar Threads, but none of them could help.
It`s not a huge problem but a little annoying and i would be very thankful if somebody could point me in the right direction.
Greetings from a great Fan of XDA!!

Same problem !!!
Hi,
Apologies if there is a thread already but i couldnt see one looking for what i am. please do link if you feel i have missed it.
Every thursday there is a group of us that text jokes for the evening. i have foud in my windows mobile 6.5 that i can create a group but when i type the group name to forward the messages it doesnt pick it up?
Sometimes i send mine in the morning and forward the ones i have received to people not normally in that group. this is very long as i have to go into each message (30+ a night) and then add everyone in!
so i am looking for 2 things:
1. to be able to select multiple text messages and forward them in one go.
2. to be able to do the above but select a group of contacts for multiple sms.
Anyone know anything that can do this please?
I have an T-Mobile MDA Compact V otherwise known as the touch diamond 2. i am using the max sense energy ROM also.
Thanks
Paul
SMSSender
Try this program "The attached File"
<SMSSender>
1- You must make an Excel file (*.csv) Contains all the phone numbers you want to send SMS to them.
2- Import the file to the program.
3- Click "SEND" Icon
Thanks Shreef,
i did a search so i can have a look for more info but there seems to be quite a few out there with that name. Have you got a link to the website for more info for this one at all please?
