V1605 Problem with screen - Phantom Tap - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have had this phone for just over a month now. Everything has been working perfect except for the last 2 days.
What is happening is that there seems to be a "phantom" tap on the screen in the right upper corner (device facing you - under the small camera) resulting in
A, Phone always going to today screen, so programs keep closing by themselves as the X button is being pressed by the "Phantom" tap
B, In the top right corner (as described above) if one looks closely there is the animation of the circle with little white balls - the same on gets when one taps and hold the stylus before the menu pops up.
When this starts happening the phone is unusable as everything that is opened is closed by itself. At time the screen locks also and it does not respond to the stylus.
Strangely enough this tends to happen during the hot periods of the day and when the phone has been used for some time. Then if i remove battery let phone off for some time and restart it everything is back to normal for a couple of hours but then problem recurs.
I did a hard reset as to exclude any application that could cause this and the problem still persisted.
Apart from this screen alignment works perfect - no issues with that
The serial number of my phone is HT648F######
Rom Version - 1.20.161.6
Rom Date - 08/02/06
Radio Version - 1.03.06.00
Anyone had a similar problem please
Any help and suggestion are greatly appreciated

Screen alignment going crazy?

My Wizard is brand new first off and I haven't done anything to it but install the t-mobile cabs, a spb program, and a few other random things.
Problem (It just started doing this): I can align the screen and it will stay right and aligned for a few minutes but then when i write on it the alignment will eventually veer off on the right side just a little bit. When I pick it up at first normally it writes fine and then it starts acting crazy, sometimes it will write somewhere completely different than where the pen is on the screen, or when I go to press a button it will press the one under or over (mis-aligned). I can even write on the screen and the cursor will go completely crazy and all over the place when I'm trying to draw a straight line. I searched for firmware updates and topics on the issue and didn't find anything.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
I had a iPAQ that started doing this after a few weeks. I had to send it in for a replacement. Call T-Mobile about it.
My 8125 (wizard) does this every once in a while. If I let it sit for about a minute then it seems fine. I think it is pbar program that is doing it. Just haven't removed it yet to find out.
You might want to do a hard reset to bring it back to the way it was when you got it and use it for a few days to see if that does it.
Yeah I have actually read up on the topic now and it's a known issue.
It's mostly a hardware issue, so I've narrowed it down to the screen being a little bent. Just a tad.
When you take your finger and rub it over where it's bent or just across the screen in general sometimes it fixes this error. That's about the best fix i've found yet that actually works.
This is driving me nuts too
Hi!
I have a Cingular 8125. Bought it in Nov 2006.
I have been facing a problem with the alignment as well since the past week.
1) Whenever I try to tap the target, nothing happens. I have to do a soft reset to start using the phone again.
2) Have hard reset the phone twice in the past week, but the problem still persists.
3) If I am adding a new contact, wherever I press an alphabet, the 4th or 5th key to the left of what I press gets displayed.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Fix Screen alignment
Hi,
It happens to my 8125 each time I turn it on. The only way that I could solve the problem is disassembling the unit and remove the front cover. Clean the borders of the touch screen and remove any particle. It solved the problem.

Another touchscreen problem

I am the (happy?) owner of a TyTN 2 (Vodafone Vario series).
I have encountered another problem with the touchscreen (not the one documented here, with the screen alignment issue )
After turning phone on, I can use touchscreen for some time (5mins to 30mins). Afterwards, the bottom-left part of the screen starts to touch itself (I can see that with an application I have developed, which marks the bottom left as beeing constantly touched).
After a while, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive and the whole phone seems to slow down (probably of the constant self-touching fills up the OS stack and the whole system slows down).
Any help on that? Has anyone fixed that problem?
--Sorry if I am double posting---
Also this happened to mine.
Some users fixed this.

Click to collapse
I think you are true,if you turn on device and when you see it starts to self tapping ,just tap on screen and hold pen for some seconds, you will see it stop self tapping. afterwards it starts to self tapping.

Touchscreen Unresponsive After Sleep

Anyone else have this problem? Sometimes, if the screen goes to sleep, when I wake it back up, the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have to soft reset to get it to start up again. Any ideas on how to fix it?
I had the same problem, and flashed another rom, and problem gone.
Hello guys,
I was just searching through the forum with this exact problem and found this thread.
If the phone wakes up from sleep the touchscreen is unresponsive for a few seconds. If I insist to press it it only takes longer for it to respond. This is a very big problem because I sometimes miss calls because I can't answer them. Not even the for hard buttons don't work (maybe because they are also touchscreen).
I've tried flashing different ROM's (Miri, Dutty, NRG) even flashed back to the standard one and again back to a 6.5 one (as I saw this step fixes a lot of problems for some people) but the result is the same. I'm running out of ideas.
I don't think it's a hardware issue because if i leave the phone until the backlight dims and touch it, it goes back on, so it registers the press but doesn't act on it.
It's a very serious and I'm hoping someone here has a solution.
Nobody else is having this issue? Is there no hint on what is going wrong with our phones?
It appears it's happening more and more often and the screen is dead for more and more time.
Hi
I have had the same problem but solved tonight
There are many threads about this but no real solution I tried them all.
My first HD lasted till last week when I had to replace it because of a "Newton Ring" problem. In 10 months of ownership I got a screen freeze maybe 5 times.
My new replacement arrived last Saturday - same original Orange Rom and radio.
I have loaded exactly the same programs from the old phone and have found that when I put it in sleep mode via the power button its a 50/50 chance of it waking up. Receiving a text message does not wake it up either.
I can hear the volume control working and the haptic buttons provide feedback - but black screen. If I hold the power button down I get the bleep to ask if I want to power the device off - then all goes dead. If I wait 5 minutes the haptic buttons/volume buttons work again and the screen comes alive revealing the yes/no option to power off.
Also strange whilst in this locked state the orange charging light comes on - when it goes off I know i can wake the screen up !
I tried :
Enabling and disabling the Today Screen timeout
Auto adjust backlight off and on
Different screen brightness
Manual/default operator selection
Checked HD Tweaks settings were correct in registry and things I can't remember.
What has worked :
Start - Settings - System - Power - Advanced and unchecked the box "turn off device if not used for 5 minutes"
The daft thing is this was enabled on my old phone and would always wake up with a text/call or power button push !
What has changed ?

Update - Found the problem
Whilst the above fixed my freeze problem it has been bugging me why - as the advanced power features are useful and I don't always remember to hit the power button to sleep the device.
I have now realized what was not set up the same as my old phone.
No start up password !
To enable this I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5004821 and changed my registry setting to 0.
This immediately takes you to the lock screen where you can now enter your password details and make them stick.
I now have a start up password and can set the timeout to 24hrs.
All the power settings now work correctly - and no screen freeze

Spoke too soon
3 hours ago went to use my phone - black screen
Connected via activesync and MyMobileR.
Rebooted and got the "Microp Version Mismatch 0" message.
Checked out threads about this error on the mainly Diamond forum and can confirm my screen is well and truly dead.
Contacted Orange and they are sending another replacement tomorrow.
What p*sses me off is the number of hours I have spent to get one normal days use.

Sorry to keep posting to this thread - but I am hoping that my experiences may help somebody
As said I am getting a replacement tomorrow and in one of the threads a guy said put it in the fridge for 20 minutes !
Well I thought what the h*ll and did.
Wrapped it in some tissues to absorb the condensation when I took it out - replaced the battery and it works - no Microp message and has behaved ok for 6 hours.
Got to be a hardware issue ?
Your thoughts.............

Hi Bigfish,
please let me know the phone is still ok after more hours out of the fridge. i have similar problem on my HTC touch- ELF and i have been searching for solution, and i found this
http://www.fixya.com/support/t982721...not_responding .
i do not have tools to open it myself and would like to try it.
if you r familiar with it please let me know.
cheers

Hi
Sorry your link is not working.
As to the phone it was still ok 26 hours later when I had to exchange it for my replacement.
Weird !

Hi Andrew,
the fridge trick did not work for me. i kept searching for solutions and i found out that the problem is the digitizer (the touch screen). it might have received a shock (dropped on the ground) or other unusual pressure (in the pocket), and the digitizer gets out of initial position. the digitizer takes that contact as a tap -a continious tap- and does not respond to other taps. you might have to open the device and reposition the digitizer or replace it is there is some damage.
cheers
mumur
Sorry to hear that.
My replacement phone - so far has behaved perfectly.

it strikes me that if I shake the phone that the phone jamming. I get no response. Even when I tap my finger hard against the rear top I get a crash. The only solution is to take out the battery and reboot. I think it has to do with a hardware problem.
there are others who also suffer from it?

Strange Touchscreen NAND Issues

ok, I have a strange issue that I can not seem to find the answer to. Whenever my phone locks after not being used etc. When I wake it up, the touchscreen will not let me unlock. It takes me close to 50 attempts to do so. However once I actually am successful in getting it unlocked. The touchscreen works flawlessly. I have tried several different builds, all of them I have the same issue. I have done Task29 and started fresh on that front each time. I tried a couple different radios. Any suggestions?
**** man i got the same problem! i tried hard reset, rom updates, other buils but it wont go away!
plz someone help us!
Hi,I'm using BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.3 RAM_V5 works great so far the best that I tried. After u flash android it's recommended to wait few mins until it loads everything then do a shut down - not a restart.then again u wait few mins and u do a second shut down. after that the os should work fine ,at least for me works great. if that doesn't help ,try to reinstall everything from the start..hspl radio etc.
You could just turn off the lockscreen? Get 'NoLock' from the market. That should do the business if you want.
I've got the same problem since 5 days, It started when I started using WIFI and turning off my 3G ..
you have the same problem my hd2 has....it is a hardware issue. the screen becomes unresponsive. if you still have warranty send it in for a repair. if not... repair it yourself. it's not that hard. the screen wire is probably just loose.
follow this video to take apart your hd2.

Sounds like a similar problem that I'm experiencing. If I wake the lockscreen with the send key instead, it works. When I boot I get exactly one shot with the end key then it locks up again. I'm able to use it with the send key, but concerned it might get worse. If anyone finds the solution please post.
I actually for the first time had this, and I know this is going to get flamed but its not the Screen thats the problem. And I think (BIG IF) that the dreaded unresponsive screen issue that we keep reading about Majority of them I think is not the screen.
I have 2 HD2s and both have worked flawlessly without any problems, but today I was playing with my test phone that doesnt get used that much and I noticed after installing a new rom that my screen after I played with it for a bit went black (sleep) and when I woke it up it wouldnt respond, first thing that crossed my mind is I just lost my digitizier, and started wondering okay why, I went as far to re-flash WinMo stock HD2 rom, same issue, so I decided its time to find out exactly whats causing this, and I found it. I wasnt going to make a post again cause I figured people would be "Not another thread about this" but I know whats causing the screen issue, at least this is my suspicision and I have temporarily fixed mine.
The problem is HARDWARE, The Culprit: THE END KEY (Red Button)! The Answer to "How or Why": The "End" key is used to turn the phone on and off or to put it in sleep mode, it is the most used key out of all 5 keys, it is used probably 7x more then all the rest, Its used for just about everything, now how does this cause the unresponsive screen? Easy, the phone lock or sleep is associated with this key, Its the only way to make the screen go off other then waiting for the time out period. Because by habit we mostly hit the end key to turn the screen off the phone automatically associates this with locking the phone, once that happens the screen becomes unresponsive because of several reasons: 1) The contact under the actual key has dirt which causes the button to stick in the down position, 2) the contact is bent which the "end" key is pressing down on the contact which is making contact with the board and causing it to be unresponsive, 3) The contact is worn. This is the reason why if you press the end key a few times (anywhere between 2-10) and then try the screen responds, this is cause your "unsticking" the key which then lets the screen respond.
Most of us when we hit the end key press to the far right to avoid hitting the back key (The button with the left arrow) which causes the end button to lean toward the right. But you can wake the phone up with the other 4 keys to the lock screen which will allow you to unlock the phone. As a temporary fix for myself, on my test phone I now make sure to press on the left side of the key to prevent this from happening, since its a test phone I'm not worried, but the real solution is to take the phone apart and clean the underside of the end button, and the actual contact with alcohol to remove the build up of dirt and whatever else. And also if the contact frame is bent to GENTLY bend the right side back up alittle to stop it from happening, or sending it to htc and letting them fix it.
We have to RE-TRAIN ourselves to start using the other keys to wake the phone up and not rely on the end key so much.
Hope this helps anyone finally why we have this problem. And if it works for you then hit the Thanks button

Intermittent Screen Touch-Response Problem - Software or Hardware?

Hello,
I have used an S4 for 8 months and it's great. I have just bought one for my dad, and it's also great BUT the screen doesn't always respond.
When it does respond, it is quick and sharp and there is no lag. However, when I am swiping through the home screens after a few goes it will ignore a couple of my swipes, and then continue. The same happens with tapping for selections. Interestingly, on the swipe thing, as I am swiping with my finger still on the screen during a non-responsive swipe, I can do this for as long as my finger is on the screen.... and in fact if I take my finger off VERY briefly and back on again, the problem does not resolve itself. But if I remove my finger (from the screen, not from my person) for a slightly longer period - say around a second - then it will be fine on the next few swipes.
I have tried:
- Battery out and back in
- Restarting
- Clearing cache
- Clearing RAM
- Closing applications
- Safe mode (problem still present)
- Swiping veeerrryyyy ssssllooowwwwlllyyyy
There aren't any weird apps that I can see. Memory is not full. Phone is refurbished.
Anyone got any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it please?
Many thanks in advance,
Nate
Which company refurbished the phone? Was it ever dropped or exposed to moisture? The imei in the phone matches the imei on the battery label?
If it is refurbished then chances are it's the screen or touch controller.
If you want to exclude software, then flash another firmware with Odin.
