Just a word of warning that video acceleration will cause the device to not boot correctly and requires a hard reset. Just having to do mine now .
white screen
Since upgrading my rom to Black 2.5 I started having problems with the newest version of Pocket Controller. After awhile the screen will turn white whenever I try to activesync. At home it AS's fine but I dont have the newer version of pocket controller on it.. at first it would white out then turning it off on would fix it..eventually it didnt matter..it would stay white until I unsynced it...
I'm using SOTI v5.03 build 738. Just using the standard O2 ROM that comes with the Trion
white screen
Sorry..shouldve mentioned my specs as well... Im using a Cingular 8525(Tytyn Hermes) Soti version 5.07 on WM6 Black 2.5 Rom. Pocket Controller seems to be the culprit for me as far as I can tell. I didnt have problems until installing it anyway, and it only whitescreens when AS to that particular PC.
Yes, as has also been pointed out in several of my articles (please DO follow them!!!!), it's better to backup your device before enabling the turbo mode.

Hi,
seems I have nailed down one situation, when trion refused to boot through. Whenever I have WLAN active and the system hangs (happened last time today when trying to start up avantgo) its very likely the xda won't boot correctly after soft reset.
Usually I solved it by going to bootloader and softreset again. Today this didn't help, also booting with and without SIM/battery in all combinations didn't help.
So I connected the phone in bootloader mode and sent some commands via mtty.
Don't know why, but this helped the phone to boot again. Weird.
Now - is there a way to switch off WLAN via mtty in case it happens again?
Dirk
P.S.: never give up when the xda hangs, I refuse to use a hard reset (unfortunately it required xx reboot trials and 1 hour of my time...)
Hi,
still there are occasions, where my TyTN hangs at Windows Mobile screen while booting. I couldn't find any system behind it...
I had several suspicions:
- HTweakC while Power Saver Tweak was enabled,
- pBar, when being set to automatically load,
In both cases, removing this options seemed to help, but shortly after that the hangs came up again.
Did anybody else also experience frequently hangs while booting and could isolate some reasons for that?
P.S.:
I know some of the hangs are related with today plugins. The only I have currently is Birthdays 1.2.10. I just removed this as well, but the XDA seems to hang after the reboot again.
How likely are hangs at bootup time hardware related?
Is it a common problem with AKU2.3 and could an upgrade to 3.3 help?
I just don't want to mess around and waste a lot of time - would you suggest to send it in for repair?
(My operator claims, that I should do a hard reset. After that everything is fine. But why should I use an XDA without adding any more program and risking that behaviour?)

I have only ever had one hang on boot up. I have AKU 2.3. Used to get lots of freezing at other times, but it appears I have cured all that and it has settled down very nicely. I also have several today plugins spread over multiple desktops using WAD.
I just wonder (and I am no expert here) whether you may have a little corruption in boot up files. Have you actually tried a hard reset yet?
Having learned several lessons I took mine back to scratch with a hard reset and used SPB backup at each stage as I reloaded software. This way I am able to return to a nicely working setup (within 5 minutes) if I load something duff along the way.

Yep, did a hard reset and installed some programs. I will try to adopt your way of adding programs. Even if it takes a lot of extra time. Now I need at least 5-6 soft resets, until one works.
However - did anyone ever notice, that sometimes between the operator splash screen and windows mobile splash screen, there is a scrambled splash screen with vertical lines in windows mobile splash screen colors?

Do I understand you correctly - even after hard reset you still need several soft reset attempts to get it going?

Hi,
no... if its "O2 virgin" ROM its working.
okay, seems to answer my question regarding HW problem. It seems not to be one.
This is the SW I then installed (maybe in different order):
- Avantgo
- Flashplayer 7
- tcpmp
- SPB Gprs monitor (came with the hardware)
- Clearvue PDF viewer (came with the hardware)
- Birthdays plugin
- HTweakC
- SK Tools
- pBar
I removed battery and communication manager Icon from frontscreen with HTweakC and tried the battery saving tweak. More I can't remember.
I will pay attention now with setting it up again. Did some of the above ring a bell?

Nothing obvious but I wonder about pbar given it appears to monitor a lot of actions and will load at start up.
I'd also do the following with backups before and after. It's a pain doing some of this from scratch if things go pear shaped.

Hi,
On my TyTN the scren just fades out to white frequently when for instance typing something, just happens in the middle of using the hermes, I have used many of the various WM6 builds, and mostly Black Editions, I noticed thsi isssue after I had upgraded to Black 3.01 firstly, now yesterday I flashed to Black IV Shadow, and now it does it much more frequently than before....I wonder if it could be hardware related or is it a known bug in the Black releases ?
When this happens I must press the power button several times and all of a sudden the screeen comes back to normal again. Sometimes even a hardreset is the only solution.
Was thinking of going back to the orginal WM5 ROM just to see if it helps any, or maybe I should send it in to repair center as it still is under warranty (apart from me upgrading to various dev builds that is )
Any inputs very welcome.
thx / fahlis
HTC TyTN
WM6 Black IV Shadow
Used to happen to me using the original ROM. It appeared to happen as the machine got hot which tended to be while it was charging and I was using it.
I did a warranty replacement, and hadn't had the problem since (months).
Still on original factory ROM.
Started happening to me yesterday. Called Cingular and they wanted me to do a hard reset etc. I didn't tell them I had a cooked ROM. I knew it was a hardware issue. Just got my new phone today. Downloaded the new ATT build. Installed no problem. Shipping it back to them tomorrow.
Sorry guys. There are existing threads on the fading to white issue. Please use the Search XDA using Google sticky thread near the top of the messages queue.

I just wanted to open this topic up. I've been having problems running tomtom:
It seems that the buttons (including the joystick) stop responding. The only workaround i've found for it tapping the power button (or home button and clicking on tomtopm icon again). This makes jumps back to tomtom but activated the buttons for a few seconds...then nothing until the process is repeated the process.
I am followed the instructions in the "WM6 ROM for Typhoon(Rom Ready For Download)" thread heading. I am using sp3i smartphone.
thanks for any input.
Interesting notice and I'm not sure what to make of it.
I installed Pocket Controller-Pro 6 (for my sp3i). While running Pocket Controller-Pro on the PC it shows you what you should be seeing on the device itself (like a copy of lcd screen but its your computer). When I launch tomtom all the correct screens, prompts show up in Pocket Controller-Pro view on my pc. I can naviagate through different menus etc...
But on the phone itself the display is not changing at all (it is at wm6 home screen and stays there) I wonder if this is wm6 phone lcd resolution question...apparently tomtom is running perfectly (but for whatever reason it is not showing on the screen of the phone)
Just dug my c500 out for a change from my Vario Flashed to WM6 and mine is doing the same
possible fix
I just flashed wm6 from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323668
and tomtom seems to work okay...but have not had a chance to run it too much.
i have WM6 and tomtom5 moblie on mine and its is work great with no problems

Hi, I have a problem with my Cingular 8125. See my touch sreen is not working and I just flashed my phone. Now I am at the part where it tells me to "Tap the screen to set your Windows Mobile based device." Since my touch sreen is not working, I can not touch it, well I did but it does not work. Is there any other way I can by pass this? Any help is really apprecited, thanks in advance.
why not install wm6 standard rom without (touch screen)
If can provide the link, I would really apprecite it and also I tried flashing the ROM with WM6 but I have Vista. I followed all the steps in how to update ROM with Vista but it doesn't work. Everytime I try to flash the phone, it says "ROMUpdateUtility MFC Application has stopped working" and I can not seem to find any solutions .
PLEASE NOTE!!! SMARTPHONE(Non touchscreen) AND POCKET PC ROMS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! YOU CANNOT FLASH A SMARTPHONE ROM TO A POCKET PC!
I tried flashing the Cingular 8125 with a WM6 ROM, and that doesn't work. I couldn't find any ROM that has the touch sreen disabled . Is there a WM6 for Cingular 8125 that has the touch sreen disabled? If anyone could help me, I would really apprecite it.
- Thank You...

If your touch screen doesn't work I don't know how much use the phone will be for you but to get past the spot your in at this stage of your install you can always use a freeware called my mobiler at mymobiler dot com or pocket controller pro from any of the usual places.
Than you for the software information, it really helped but I'm still stuck, I am at the "align screen" part, I keep tapping the target but never works.. .
I just posted this on another forum and then I read this posting. Based on what I read here, the MDA is totally hosed if you cannot use the touch screen?
Well my MDA Touch Screen has finally quit working. My MDA is almost 2 years old. Now I have a problem using the MDA since I am so use to using the Touch Screen. Has anyone tried to use the MDA without the touch screen?
If so, how did you setup your MDA? I cannot even get to the various button menu to reset all my buttons. I have been using SPB PocketPlus, SPB Diary, etc., and now I am at a loss to even get to the Menu Screen. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
All I can say is that you can try to change the touch screen or call T-Mobile or HTC to see if they will replace it for you. I just ordered a new touch screen I found on eBay and am waiting until it comes so I can replace it and see what happens. If you are having software problems, I am not sure what problems you are having, you can try to re-flash the MDA with the newest MDA ROM or a ROM on this site...
Hope it helps
I had the exact same problem you had, and I finally came across a solution on a different site.
All you need to do to bypass this is connect your phone to your pc (usb activesync) and browse the contents on your wizard and delete \\\Windows\StartUp\Welcome.ink . Then soft reset your phone and you are past the screen calibration part and continuing the installation

Can you tell me how to find this file? I've connected my 8125 to my PC, but did a search for the file and it's not found. If I can bypass the screen it would at least be able to be used. I appreciate your help. Also, using My Mobilier doesn't work if you can't tap the screen as I tried it.
Hello all,
I have recently killed my Jamin. Im not sure whether it is permanent or not. Personally it looks like a rom failure with the video bois, but I am far from experienced with windows mobile#.
I have searched the forum and can not find anything similar.
(Story)
To cut a long story short, I picked up my Jamin while it was connected to my pc. Catching a gimps of WM5 and the battery fell out (while still connected to my vista pc). So it turns off and I put the battery back in and turned it back on.
(What does work)
This is kind of hard to explain, but from what gather, everything seems to be running fine except the screen. Basically it still syncs up (can access files) and the Bluetooth led turns on after a minutes or how ever long it takes
(Problem)
The problem is that the screen is doing something weird (This is the hard part to explain). I do not get anything out of it even the "htc" pic at the start.
It has these blue horizontal lines about a pixel wide running down the screen. They change like the screen is trying to display different things but it is as if it does not know how to use the screen.
Im thinking re-install the rom? But I do not want to make things harder for myself if I am wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tryed Flashing.
Well If anyone is interested, I tried Re flashing and I still get the same problem. My next PDA will not be an Imate, too many problems.
