I love my MDA more and more now. But after my first week or two i was begining to think i had made a mistake buying it. Thanks to the kind and helpful folk around here and other forums, i now have it doing everything i wanted it to do and in the way i want it to do it.
I use it for TomTom, playing DIXed DVD's, music, podcasts, games, the usual email/web duties and more. And thanks to the great WiFi 'G' reg hack i can now stream my large lossles FLAC files (with the help of fantasitc Conduits Pocket Player) right into my Hifi system, just like my Squeezebox 3 media player. It's actually much better than an ipod (albeit with less storage when out of the house - although i could access my music at home from a hotspot). A fully fledged media streaming device for free! (well, a small fee for Pocket Player and a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack adaptor).
Not only does this hack also enable 'g' speeds, but i can confirm that it also massively increases performance on 'b' speed networks too (which mine is limited to due to being an 'adhok' network).
Sure, a faster proc, better camera and maybe even 3G would be nice. But i have no wish to ever make video calls or use Skype (i'm the geek of the group and no-one else i know uses it).
I understand there will always be better third party software (Media Player is an utter waste of space for example) but why should we have to make techy and annoying tweaks to the registry, just to get the best from the unit? Why the hell do we need to hack the reg just to make a basic settings change, such as hiding SIM contacts (which is an option in just about every mobile from the last 5 years).
Is it just bad planning? Poor thinking on the manufactures part? or is there just a genuine reason for 'hiding' these settings and not making them accessable from standard menu's?
The older i get, the less time i have to mess around so much. I have better things to do these days to be honest.
Surely they would have more to gain by activating the performance increases themselfs, rather than us more tech savy types to figure out how to alter the registry. Half the things this device has been slated for in reviews can actually be sorted, but the average (make that normal) buyers of this device will be feeling a bit short changed if you ask me.
I guess the only thing left for me to do now is dump the T-Mobile ROM and use a more slimline one. Or maybe i should just figure out who to lose some of the crap from my existing install?
What is it with these companies? Don't they know when they are on to a good thing? Or maybe, just maybe it to keep us coming back for more and upgrading year after year? Hey ho...
/rant over.

Very interesting topic, well put and one which I'm sure will be relevant to me very soon...y'see my Wizard arrives in two days and it was reading posts such as yours which helped me take the plunge.
I don't mind messing about with PDAs, phones, PCs etc to get the the best performance but (as you rightly point out) we shouldn't have to. However, given the thousand of threads and posts on this (incredibly good) site, I am somewhat confused about what to do first with my Wizard.
So, could you please take a few minutes to post what changes, hacks etc you have done to get yours where you (almost) want it to be?
Many thanks in advance.

The first things i would always do after a hard reset (format), after syncing back all my contacts/callender of course...
Reg hacks (main ones, i have forgot a few) -
*Hide SIM contacts (so the dont appear pointlessly twice)
*Enable 'g' speed Wifi
* Disable the annoying 'you are about to go online' message. You will understand when you get yours, VERY VERY annoying - you get it even when you are online and just switch back to PIE.
* There are some good performace tweaks to, which i forgot about.
Essential software i could not be without (some free, some not - unless you are naughty. Don't be naughty now )
*TomTom (Sat Nav)
*Memory Map Pocket Nav + GPS and the O.S. maps i use for walking
*TCPMP - The best video player
* Conduits Pocket Player - the best music player IMO (Streaming, gapless playback and OGG/FLAC support - nice). costs a few beer tokens, but free good alternatives are available.
*Resco File explorer and Reg editor.
*Opera Browser - Renders pages faster than PIE, handles java script etc better and Tabbed browsing makes GPRS speeds much less of a pain.
*Memmaid - for cleaing up temp files, dead registry entries etc.
*Storage tools - for formating and sorting out MiniSD cards - WM5 can't even format a bloody memory card!
*Wififofum - for finding WiFi networks (more for fun than anything).
*OMAPclock - for a bit of overclocking (more for fun again, i rarely feel the need is that great)
*And of course registry wizard for the good people of these forums
Thats about it really for me, but i am finding more cools things everyday to play with but those are my must have ones - i have had to install
A few must have games include, AOE, UFO, 3D pool and Soduko.
Personally i dont use a today plugin. I have not found one i like yet and most have icons etc that are to small on the MDA's small screen or just make clutter rather than really help me. A well organised start menu is enough for me.
Oh, and of course you can flash the ROM. But i have not done this yet. T-Mobiles version does not seem that bad but i hear the O2 version is a real dog and well worth doing. I just worry about lost Wifi and GPRS functionality i have heard about some people having.
Really wasn't expecting a reply so soon, and certainly not such a comprehensive one. Thanks for your time. I may be back with more questions once I actually get my mitts on a Wizard. Cheers!
yes I agree , it is great post, specially for new people like me, I got mine (Qtek 9100) just on Friday, and I am still figuring out its functions.
But I have question - if you have time to answer - I really don't know about WiFi function -which is in the device- , if I want to connect to the internet I should have a wireless router connected to my main PC, is that right ? I have read some of posts in here, that they can connect to the Internet - through their PPC - when they are outside or walking or traveling from area to another, by scanning for the nearby Connection, then they can use it to visit websites, does this cost money when they connect to the Internet using the WiFi ? And how can I do the same if it doesn't cost m money ? Can the "WiFi Fofum" program do this o is it only to scan any available connection nearby ? How can I connect to the internet (through WiFi) when this programm finds connection? And if it is really totally free..
I know this are bunch o Questions But I really want to use this function - if possible - specially that I work outside my city and I have to spend couple of hours travelling almost everyday. I appreciate any comment.
Wireless router at home if you want to use it wirelessly or if you do what I do now and then..... connect via the USB cable to your PC. Out and about you can connect for free if someone has a wireless network within range that has no WEP security enabled
There are wireless spots around the country but you have to pay for the main ones via an account you have to set up (kind of pay as you go) Cloud is one company that runs WiFi hotspots on a PAYG basis.
If you leave your WIFI scanning it will tell you if you are within range of a network, it will also tell you if it is secured or not, if it isn't then 9/10 you can just connect and use it
I have been meaning to make a post just like the OP. You are on the mark, IMO! This situation really begs the question, how can this thing be so feeble out of the box?
Thank you XDA and all of the kind people on this forum. You have been the best!

In my case, my service provider (Cingular) offers a service called GPRS/EDGE, which lets the Wizard access the Internet through the cell phone connection.
I use the WiFi when I don't have a good connection. Most of the time, for browsing mini-websites and sending e-mails, there isn't much speed difference between WiFi and GPRS. I don't think the Wizard is fast enough to process more than a few 100 kbps of data.
If you don't want to (or can't) pay for a GPRS service, it's possible to "war drive" for access points. The Wizard will find them, although its WiFi reception isn't as powerful as a laptop's.
On my phone, if I enable WiFi, the phone will automatically use WiFi instead of GPRS when WiFi is available. If you don't want to pay GPRS charges, you might want to configure the phone so that it doesn't use GPRS.
can you explain 'wardriving' please? is it just freely using wifi points without paying? bit confused
Thanks
Jamie,
You are correct in your assumption !! You would be amazed at the number of 'unlocked' WiFi routers out there....
Ever tried running Bluetooth detection in a pub and seen how many phones are out there too ?
If you can find an unlocked WiFi router running DHCP - 'Fill your boots' !! Sometimes it's even possible to guess IP addresses of other PC's on the network, access em and leave a kindly note to thank them for their hospitality but warn them of their folly and the potential for disaster......I know I have but then that's me: Mr Altruism
Ok how can I get any internet connection through WiFi ? Should I just enable my WiFi and it'll scan for any available connection nearby ? I did but nothing happened, it wants from me to fill form which I really don't know anything about it... Or do I have to use a program to scan for connection ? And if yes, should my WiFi be enabled ? What is the best program for scaning ? I wish if someone explains me all that and how can start using WiFi to get a connection and an access to the internet but slowly, will be thankful.
Im new to all of this, but what can you do with the registry wizard and how do you install it? I foud a zip file for it, but cant get it to load.
Thanks!
i have a question too if you have the time mate,
I don't exactly want to use the edge since i dont have an unlimited plan or something.how can i delete these settings and do you think any problems will occur?(sending recieving mms)
basicly i don't it to connect to edge(gprs)auto.is there a way to fix this
thanks so much.
Quick question when using pie to surf the net does it hang for a while on locating the web page or does it work instantly.
I have just got the Tytn and looking at web pages using 3g is really slow and really not very usable
I am using tmobile uk 3g network
after inputting a web address it hangs on locating for up to 60 seconds then loads the page very wuickly after that
Anyone any ideas
Thanks
Chris
Very strange. I dont have this problem. The first time a UMTS connection must be established and it is 5 or 6 seconds. The next request are very fast. May be you have established the DNS servers manually?
I get that, browsing using GPRS is painful on t-mobile
how about using opera 8.6 http://opera.com
I too have this problem with T-Mobile, On connecting to the internet over GPRS or 3G GPRS it will hang for some time, wether its internet explorer or other internet services I have on the device (HTC Universal).
As I have web and walk I just leave it connected, but its not ideal. I wonder wether its the T-Mobile servers working slowly to authenticate the handset for internet use.
Its been fine upto the last month or so.

I have exactly the same problem with an MDA Pro. Fine until a month ago now slow on 3g. GPRS though is fine.
I'm actually quite relieved to find that it isn't just me !

Its also become random now, somtimes it connects and its instant, and actually fast even on normal GPRS, other times it can take over a couple of minutes to locate and open a page.
Doesnt seem to matter whether its a full signal or not, whether its after a reset or anything, totally depends on what T-Mobile feels like.
Maybe it cant cope with the number of web'n'walk use now.
Absolutely agree with you as you have described precisely what my symptoms are.
Hopefully if enough people complain to T-Mobile about it, they might actually admit there is a problem and fix it.
Maybe the delays are because http traffic is proxied
Maybe the delays are because http traffic is proxied....
It looks like Orange are operating a proxy or some other form of protection. A few weeks ago I discovered that they had something in place to restrict access to adult sites, wouldn't have bothered me other than the site I was trying to visit was xda-developers.com.
Even followed their link to get the site unblocked and got a nice little responce stating "Your request has been actioned and the content is confirmed as only suitable for customers over the age of 18." before getting their filtering disabled.

Exactly how i seem to find it, either it works or doesnt. There seems to be nothing u can do either to make it work, reboot, change from UTMS to 2g ot what ever. Nothing has any bearing and its most annoying, tbh i wish id never got the universal now as its a huge piece of junk, or at least the t- mobile ones are. Ive used a 02 one and its just soooooooooooooo much faster in everything.
im using the latest rom and even after flashing its still sluggish before anything is installed.

Having been in a T-Mobile 3G area most of today (Loughborough, Leicestershire) the service itself has been as quick as ive ever used it, getting around 270k on a fairly medium signal.
The times it hasnt worked (long first time loading) it has returned to me with a server or IP error. I just assume that as web'n'walk is unlimited, but has restrictions on use, that the servers are overloaded trying to monitor or prevent certain services working.
Its been picking up a bit lately tho, im suffering the waiting times less and less each time I try. Tho 3G UMTS has really sucked the life out of my battery today, it may be best I keep it on 2G instead.
Haven't noticed any of these problems on T-Mobile in and around London. Have you all removed your "Content Lock"?
As mentioned earlier by Taz69, connection may be slowed down by the T-Mobile servers checking to see if you're 'allowed' to visit various sites?
I disabled my content lock ages ago using 'My T-Mobile' on www.t-mobile.co.uk - give it a go if you haven't already, it may make a difference?
My content is unlocked and always has been so it isn't that umfortunately.

So, Im not the only one  Do you get the problem where it can take 30+ secs to switch between GRPS and 3G too?
Also, I spoke to T-Mobile about slow speeds and lack of connetivity - I can hardly get a signal in my office, although I am sat across road from a T-Mobile mast!!!
They said that as the mast across road was congested, my device was connecting via a mast further away (I like the idea of it not trying to get on a congested mast, but distance causes problems with connectivity too  )
Other thing they pointed out was, if you call them with the postcode that has the problem, it gets logged...enough logs and they escalate it (I'm up to 6 logs in my postcode now lol)
How can I tell if it's switching? Mine says "Connected (GPRS, 3G)"
Since (re)removing the lock it does seem significantly faster though
If your connected via standard GPRS then the connected logo at the top of the screen will have a G on it, if your connected via 3G GPRS then it changes to a U (for UTMS).
Ive always had a delay swapping between the 2, yesterday my 3G signal kept dropping so it would switch back to 2G, and it kept doing this so much I couldnt get any internet for about 5 mins. I know you can turn the UMTS band off, but this makes buying a 3G phone pointless.
I have content lock off since day one, and its always been fast. Today theres been bo problems with the service at all, fast logon, good speed connections etc.
Seems a random thing lately, but its only been lately. Its been fine for a few months before, so hopefully its somthing there working on and it slowly getting sorted.
The problems could be down to the pay and go users Web and talk, for a max of £1 per day they get unlimited internet, see t-mobile for more info, this could be eating servers bandwith within certain areas, i was able to logon this morning, but after 9am i keep getting page cannot be found errors, The little u and the 2 arrows show me I'm conneted but i cant load any pages, I hope this is the case and t-mobile sort this out asap
I have had the same problem now for around a month. I am using Opera 8.60 and it takes around 1 minute to actually resolve the host name. Sites with adverts on take forever. I contacted T-Mobile and they said that the signal in my area is really good and there shouldn't be a problem. They told me to take the sim card out, wait 30 seconds and then reinsert it, and then try.
I have not yet had any luck, and it seems to be the same throughout the country, as I was in Cornwall over the weekend on holiday and it was just as bad.
P.S. I am in Liverpool, and I have a full 5 bar umts signal.
Hi,
my GPRS connection is working, it connects without any problem but when i try to navigate with PIE then I can see the message "Opening" on the left lower corner but it just stays that way for a long time and the page never gets displayed. My e-mail works fine so that means i have GPRS connection and working. If i try navigating to a WAP site some pages get displayed and some other don't. If i connect via WiFi or via activesync then i can navigate without any problems. Based on my observations I suspect a problem with the MRU (Maximum receive Unit) of the TCPiP stack but i can not find on the registry where to change that.
Hope someone can help.
I used Tweak2K2 to set it in mine. Sorry I do not know the Reg setting.

I wonder whether your HTTP proxy port number is correct. I had same problem and I was using the advertised port number until I discovered there was another one that actually worked. I would suggest a port number but I'm O2 UK (it was `advertised as 80 but only actually worked on PIE with 8080)
Mike
You are not alone
Please check the following threads, both are related to our problem, unfortunely none of them gives a solution.

My GPRS connection doesn´t require an HTTP proxy server so Mike´s suggestion didn´t work for me. I contacted Movistar and they are not open to give support since I didn´t buy the device from them....
On the other hand, if somebody can provide the ROM reg settings and a brief instruction on how can be changed would be great
Hi Luiggi
Sorry you have not got it solved yet. I remembered your post and looked for it but did not find it - hoped you had a solution to offer - sadly not
Edit: I suppose you are certain about the proxy? I ask because mine will connect to GPRS just fine without it - BUT PIE does not unless it's set.
Mike
Maybe it is a Movistar problem
Interesting, so happens that my service provider is also Movistar; maybe they have done something different to their network settings. Any way, I was in the US recently and was able to use GPRS roaming although because the TyTN does not differentiates between GPRS and EDGE it could have been that it was using EDGE and that it why i could navigate using PIE.
The funny thing about this problem is that my e-mail works fine and my SPB whether also updates without problems, it is only the navigation with PIE that i have issues with. Based on my observations it seems to be that if the tcp packet is larger that a certain size it gets dropped by the tcp stack.
Not lucky so far
Hi Mike!
Movistar people told me that the don´t need proxy servers for the connections since they use Dynamic IP addresses (?). I´ve have tried a lot of different configurations but not luck so far, the comment posted above could be they key, now the big question is: What are the proper settings and how to modify the reg...?
Will reflashing the phone be the only solution?
Well looks like the options are narrowing down to reflashing the phone.... I'll give it a couple of days more to see if someone can give Us a hint on what to do.

I´m not sure about reflashing, actually I have two 8525 I paid to SIM unlock the 1st one so I still have the original ROM 1.34.505.1 and the symptoms are the same, I don´t know what ROM would be suitable to "solve" the problem in case this would be causing the partial lock.
New Finding
I´ve been trying a lot of things and I guess I´m close to the root cause. I strated from scratch with a hard reset and giving a soft reset before the 3 sec secreen of auto configuration, then I tried to set a connection in my ISP, I named it "The Internet" and when I hit the OK button I got a message saying that there was an existing connection setting under the same name!!! I couldn´t find such connection, so I´m pretty sure that the connection is hidden somewhere in the ROM and we need to disable it and create a new one or modify the reg to address a different connection consistent with our own network.... Any thoughts on this?

I mapped that one in Cingular, the MMS settings are self extracted from the extended ROM, if you want to get rid of it just do a hard reset and then a soft reset when the 3 sec message shows up, hope this can help you

I went thru all regs and I couldn´t find MRU or LCP (Link Control Protocol) settings, what disturbes me more is that I put my SIM in my 8125 and everything (IE. messenger, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) works wonderful!! I think I´ll put on sale my 8525.......
More findings
I do have GPRS connection, no doubt about it. I install Tonaya Iper in my phone and the software gives the ability to trace the route from my phone to the destination, for instance The route to www.gmail.com (216.239.63.19)
is as follows (I set the time [email protected]):
1.- 10.15.14.78
2.- 10.2.4.20
3.- 10.2.4.134
4.- 200.36.174.81
5.- 200.39.31.42 (mx-mesr-rt1.telefonica-data.com.mx)
6.- 213.140.50.233 (So-2-3-1-grtmtyma2.red.telefonica-wholesale.net
7.- Request timed out
8.- 213.140.43.25
9.- 213.140.43.225
10.- 213.140.36.45
11.- 213.140.37.57
12.- 64.233.123
13.- 66.249.94.8
14.- 72.14.233.123
15.- 71.14.233.123
16.- 216.239.63.19 (bp-in-f19.google.com)
When I try to trace the communication with a 1 second timeout the phone stalls for a while in server 213.140.50.233 and makes the traceability extremely slow.
My conclusión is that when the communication reach the server 213.140.50.233 this cause a delay and my phone can not continue to the final destination probably because the pre set delay in the application exceeds its timout parameter.
Any suggestions?

Today I use a SIM from the other mexican cell company (telcel), I just enter APN, user name and password and in a blink my 8525 flew thru PIE, hotmail, MS messenger, Gmail and everything!!! Conclusion:Movistar system or set ups are causing all the connection problems, I´ve spent hours in the phone with their wonderful engineers and none of them has been able to explain why Movistar can´t give a decent service to 8525 users.
Using the Traceroute feature of IPer I notice a very long delay to ping the Movistar router located in Madrid (213.140.50.233), there´s where I think the problem is.
You are right Luiggi...!
One of the guys here at the office also has a Dopod 838pro (I'm ussing a HTC TyTN) but with Telcel instead of Movistar...the push e-mail capabilities and the internet surf are really very good ...but with the GPRS of Movistar I recive my e-mails very delayed in the phone and also still unable to sing in to MSN messenger.
Thanks to your post now I know the trut; I was really thinking that maybe the TyTN was the problem (I mean, the HTC branded because the Dopod was functioning just very fine) I was even thinking in return it...
regards
Hummm I suspected that....
Well I think we have (a winner) an answer (partially), I will go back to Movistar and complain, I may not get any results from it but I really have no options since because of my work I travel a lot and the roaming pricing I get with them is way better that the other alternative. The funny thing about this issue is that other HTC phones do not have it. A co worker has a Wizard and he can navigate with PIE. Maybe it would be interesting to investigate what could be the difference or why other phones can navigate and Tytn can't.
Wizard works great!

I do my living buying and selling phones and I guess next time (tomorrow) I get a Wizard for sale I´ll spend enough time going thru the registry and routes to compare it with the Hermes. Would you guys mind to run IPer and check if the afore mentioned router or server with the problem is common for all of us?
I already wrote a not very nice letter to Movistar, probably they are shocked because normally their tournaround time for an answer is less than 24hrs and this time is taking longer. Next letter I´m going to be addressing the Director or whoever is the top dog.
How do I get/ run the aplication mentioned???
I would like to help to figure out what the problem is or help you guys to get to a solution...so, where can I find and how do I use the software luiggi is mentioning??
Is it free or with a trial version???
regards
I do not know what the problem is… the tzones worked perfectly fine on my other pocketPC, no problems whats so ever, I put in the ip, the 8080 port for http everything else wap, secure wap, sockets using the same ip and the default ports, it worked 100%
Now with the 8525 (purchased a used one, needed one with edge and keyboard badly) I can not get any other third party browser to work properly, mini opera has major issues it will not even detect my net at all… I have tried different midlet with no success, I have set the proper connection as it works with IE but of course very buggy some sites I can not access and I will get many times the error “the requested page is too long URL= (the url) Status=62(hex)”
What should I do now? Minimo seems to be running quite bad, its either eating up too much resources or causing the device to almost freeze, it does run however.
I used to be able to go to every page with my other pocketPC phone, only difference is that it was on gprs and this is on edge, the settings I had were exact and both wm6
8525 is running vp3G 3.60.2 radio 1.50
I have tried Esmertec Jbed, the one that was given in a thread, it too failed with mini opera to get a connection
I guess the i300 used a good java manager? Or the standard one, I never had any issues or problems with java on that device at all…
Any suggestions? Any recommendations on ROM? And what java manager should I get? Jbed seemed really nice with full screen, any others I should give a go? Something that might have proxy ability maybe?
As it seems either IE is flawed with proxy and tzones (wap net) or the service gives some kind of errors… either way IE isn’t really usable, besides just maybe reading text if it goes to the page, most times I get a lot of hangs :/ and retries are required.
fixed problem... im not 100% sure but i used different rom Schaps_WM6Pro_WWE_3.60a-0823_Full and it works all 100% right out of the box
IE that is just like on my other phone, im quite happy that there is such a large selection of cooked roms \o/ only 2nd day having 8525 and i was able to put new rom. Great work goes out to everyone of course \o/
bonus points to anyone who could figure out why vp3G 3.60.2 didnt work? or maybe i should have done a hard reset on the device? as it was cleared prob just default settings/reset? Previous owner that i got to talk to and is here on forums used AT&T, he now has a kaiser go figure heh
T-Zones - Tytn - HOW??????????????
confused: HOW ??????????? were you able to get T-zones working on your Tytn???
My understanding is that Tmo disabled it for smartphones or pda phones.
PLEASE sent me details.
I pay for t-zones but cannot manage to get it on my 8525.
Thanks,
Charlie
Today in the morning i started the day with taking the HD and the opera. Opera was opened by clicking a favourite from TF3D. But after the established UMTS connection opera closed surprisingly very fast and the "settings" menu started self.
"New connections database available, please install"
I affirmed the download, it installed and the HD shuted down without question and needed manually restart. I found no problems after that.
What does it mean? I never experienced such kind on my other HTC or WM devices.
I have not activated the automatic Windows update in settings!!! And also all other update modes in different progs i believe i have set to manually. ???
Yes, same here, except i didnt touch opera. The message came immediately after USB-connecting the HD to my PC. The download failed with a network error, and i still havent been able to complete after >10 tries.
Looks like it comes from 208.188.89.139, which resolves to 208-188-89-139.ded.swbell.net. I dont have a clue who that is and what it means, somebody else maybe?
it's done exactly what it says it has, it has downloaded and installed a new connections database. you know, the one used by the automatic connection setup wizard that triggers after a hard reset. it is desired behaviour and nothing to worry about (unless they've removed your carrier)! ;-)
This could mean the preconfigured profiles for various operators and their packet data (read: internet) connections. It just means the phone knows how to set up the packet data modem settings according the operator. So maybe it wanted to connect some htc database to pick up more recent configurations files? Someone could mail to htc and ask whats going on.
Got the same message right now. It's downloading right now....
update: due to connection error failed to download new database....

Does it mean there is allways an (not indicated) automatic connection check-up wizard in the background running and a permanent update check?
I couldn't believe this. And i don't like it!
It's very suspicious to me if my HD talks with other sources without informing me! This could also be not good for the datarate and battery.
it at least asks before it does anything. There are other companies who handles this much worser (ms, sony, etc.). Those do it without asking the end user lol.
Maybe this is ROM or carrier dependant?
Mine didn't ask or download anything.
i notice it after plugging in the usb to active sync with the computer.
I have ActiveSync running the whole morning, even reconnected the phone a few times.
Won't download anything though, which I don't mind.
Got the same message for 4 times this morning, every time it tried to connect, but it won't download more than 1%. Does anyone what it is trying to download and why?
lol mine keeps failing the download. furthest he got was like 30%
In other words if i update the few Kb on weather or stock application or during a fast email check, the HD checks additionally and secretly for updates? Sounds for me like the Vista automatic update blah. I want to stop that "wizard". If someone hacks that magician and add it to coming ROM updates it's dangerous.
It's not happend to my uncle HD
installing it for the 10th time today
just to get rid of that alert, everytime i say yes to download the update on my HD, and then it says failed.
now it stopped at 8% again
If this a hidden but common process with a today new published update, hundreds of HDs trying to connect now and to download the file. 6h ago i found no download problems. Now all of you other guys in Europe and Egypt are awakened
Yep I too have just recieved that message. At 49% and happily downloading, does help I am on HSDPA at the mo so no issues. I suggest that the people having issues check that they have a good internet connection or get on a wifi network.
Or htc servers are just getting a bit hot
Hehe maybe they should've rolled this out little more carefully.
Mine stopped at 1% through usb cable.
same for me i download it and it soft rest
Just popped up a few times on mine as well - constantly failing.
