Got my brand new P3600 today with latest ROM (Gps enabled) from factory.
Everything works really good except for WLAN. The only thing that works on
WLAN is Skype, can't surf with IE or Opera. I've tried changing all my settings
in my router (Zyxel 660HW) like encryption on/off (tried WEP, WPA, WPA-PSK
and WPA-PSK2) and Mac-filtering on/off + all the other wlan settings available
but still same problem...
Tried flashing the device with same rom downloaded from Qtek but still same problem.
Wlan "card" gets public IP (85.157...) (also tried with NAT enabled (192.168...)) but the
only thing that work is Skype. Has anyone else had this type of problem???
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Found a solution to it myself, turned off the "power-saving mode" completely!!!
(Best performance)

Very satisfied with my new Wizard (MDA Vario) and everything seems to work fine (thx for all the performance improving tips!), and also WIFI works on almost every AP I encounter, but...........not at my own home AP (Belkin) when it is in hidden mode (SSID broadcast off). No MAC filtering used, only WEP key (128 bits).
It is not even trying to connect..........when a make a new entry and name the AP SSID correctly, it does not connect (even not on AP level). My laptop and other devices (even my old ipaq) do connect.
Tried also other WIFI clients:
- Wififofum crashes from the stary (does it work on WM5?)
- Odyssey does not work on WM5
- pocketwinc does not work either
Any thoughts? (I tried full power already, no help).
TIA

Perhaps you could try momentarily turning SSID broadcast on for your network, assuming you have admin access, and getting the network known to your MDA that way, then see if it'll still connect when you turn it off again.
Hi, maybe someone could be of any help
I tried out allready a lot and do not see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I am trying to get a TyTn to connect to CISCO APs using WPA with LEAP or PEAP or WPA-PSK and i do not manage to get it connected. The TyTn "sees" the network (SSID is hidden), tries to connect but did not manage to get connected. I tried with allmost any ROM available here. At the moment i am using the I-Mate on:
ROM version: 1.20.305.3
ROM date: 07/21/06
Radio version: 1.07.03.10
Protocol version: 32.41.7010.02H
Any help would be appreciated
Same problem here w/the Cingular 8525 and Cisco AP
Been the Cingular 8525 the same as the HTC TyTN, and using Cisco AP's at work I'm experiencing the same problems here.
The Cisco AP log shows a failure on the TCP/IP handshake when my 8525 tries to authenticate. We're also using WPA-PSK. Cisco support analyzed the log and found no explanation on why it cannot complete the 3 way handshake.
I can use WPA-PSK in my home network with a D-LINK DI-524 w/o any problems.
The next test will be to try a Linksys/Cisco router and WPA-PSK at a friends place, also I will try WEP (just for testing) at work and if I can w/o any encryption on the Cisco AP that is giving me problems.
I'll also try contacting HTC Support.
Thanks to anyone that could help, I will post any results of my tests.
Cyberg
The Wizard doesn't seem to support AES. Maybe other HTC devices have the same problem. I've also had trouble with routers running in dual AES/TKIP mode. Try setting TKIP only.
WM5 does not support AES. WM6 supports!!!
Entering the following line in the Cisco AP Config fixed it for me:
dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000
I too am having troubles with the tytn and cisco AP's.
Ive done some testing
Encryption: none works
Encryption: WEP64/128 works when entering code in HEX
Encryption: WPA-PSK (HEX KEY, 64 digits) works
Encryption: WPA-PSK (ascii, 8-63 digits) FAILS
I will try the dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000 later today, hope it fixes it.
Also noticed that my Hermes won't connect to my parents router (SSID hidden, WPA-PSK of about 16 digits). Somewhat frustrating, but never mind. Router in question is a Thomson Speedtouch 5xx (can't remember exact model number).
Go into Wireless LAN & Power Mode & max it out to Best Performance.
Same problem here... with my Tytn and an old 3com OfficeConnect b.
No way to enable WEP encryption (authentification will always fail).
Working perfect now with data encryption disabled: connection security made by letting only authorized mac-address to connect.
This way is also more secure than WEP encryption, am I right?
I will try the dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000 later today, hope it fixes it.

Neither of these fixed it.
Its like the Hermes will only accept 64bit Hex key, which is fine but one of my other devices will only accept upto 63bit Ascii key
I had issues with my Cisco 1100 AP's and read somewhere on Cisco's website that QoS must be disabled on the Radio interface to get WPA/WPA2 to work:
Code:
interface Dot11Radio0
no dot11 qos mode
It worked for me
Andy
ADB100: Tried your code, still not working
Ive gotten WPA to work but only when useing the full 64digit key in HEX,
I think the Tytn has troubles with using ascii in WPA.
I had the same problem as the starter of this topic with Linksys WAG200G router, just couldn't set up to connect with WPA, so I switched back to disabled security with restriced access on trusted MAC address, and now it works like a charm.
WPA-PSK
Works for me. I have a Linksys WRT54G, and an 1100 AP. Connects to either of them seamlessly.
Just to add some more info in case anyone else stumbles on this thread.. had very same issues with WM5 on stock Hermes (T-Mobile VarioII). Had to unprotect the netork and rely on MAC filtering
Installing WM6 using Black 2.5 (now on 3.0) sorted the problem immediately. It seems some routers expect certain things from the device when using encryption that WM5 can't always provide (AES has already been mentioned). Yet another god reason to upgrade to WM6
Router here is Philips SNB 5600.
Hi
I'm having a similar problem with my Orange M700 (HTC Prophet) and Netgear DG834G.
Anyone any great ideas???
Andy
I have a cingular 8525 branded HTC TyTn and have experienced quite a lot of wifi problems. I don't know if it's me or the device or the software, but I am looking for some other input.
The problem is that if I enable wifi, it does not see any wireless networks. If I hand punch in the SSID it will go ahead and connect just fine. I can use the wireless network and everything appears great for the moment. When I'm done using the wifi and disable it in the comm manager the device still thinks it connected via wifi. IE won't try to connect to gsm automatically, it just says locating and eventually fails. The wifi antenna in the top bar never disappears to goes back to a G. The only way I've found to get it to connect back to gsm is to remove all wifi SSID settings and soft reset.
Another oddity, when I power my device on, wifi is always enabled. Is this normal?
I thought it might just be me, but a co-worker of my just got a cingular 8525 and his does the exact same thing.
Any help or insights anyone can provide would be extremely helpful.

Hi.
Couple of points.
Yes the Wifi remains on unless you turn it off. So when you turn back on it will re-connect.
Regarding your problem re-connecting. Some people seem to find absolutely no problems connecting and others barely manage if at all to connect. There can be many different set-ups routers, settings etc that can be at fault. However in your case when you clear out settings and start afresh all works well. I suspect an issue with renewing the the IP address.
1
So you could try "fixing" the IP address ie removing the DHCP dynamic allocation of the IP.
or
2
You can try "Hitchhiker" which is afreeware application that takes care of a number of background setup issues one of which is automatically re-assigning the IP address. (also allows cutting and pasting the WEP key if you use it - saves a lot of typing).
I use this app with mine whenever connections are sticking. I let Hitchhiker sort things out and then I turn off hitchhiker wich disconnects me, but then I find the normal way of connecting me works fine. Of course you can use Hitchhiker routinely to connect and it does make things easier if your connecting to Hotspots etc.
Hitchhiker is available here as is .net compact framework 2 which is required for it to work. Some people seem to have difficulties with Hitchhiker but it's always worked perfectly for me after a soft reset with my device.

I had a number of connection problems with APs whose encryption was set to WPA/WPA-2 (dual mode WPA) as opposed to WPA or WPA2. Switching the AP to just WPA fixed the problem as WM5 doesn't support WPA2.
Speaking of which: does anyone know if Crossbow has WPA2 support (when it was released for XP it was freakin' huge so I'm not expecting anything here).
As for the WiFi connection being persistent in PIE and other apps even after it's been disabled: check the connection setting for your AP profile (Comm manager>WLAN settings>Menu>Network Cards) see if the 'connects to:' setting is on 'The Internet'.
Hello to everybody
i own a Trinity (i love it!) upgraded to wm6 (shadowmite rom) and radio 1.46.00.11.
i am desperately trying to connect via wifi to my home network to use my flat adsl, but i have no success.
Besides i also have a Blue Angel with WM2003 (i still love it..) and i dont have any problems at all with it to access my network/internet thru wifi!
I am using a wifi router/modem (zyxel prestige 660 hw) with Adsl2+ and italian provider liberomini 4mb
my PC is winXP MCE sp2 and its connected to the router with ethernet cable
I have set up both PDA's exactly the same way:
-wifi card :connects to 'my work'
-IP address: assigned by server
-authenticationpen
-data encryption : disabled
-connections/advanced/networks: both set to 'wy work'
-proxy settings: internet connection enabled / proxy server disabled
on the router i disabled all protections/firewall/encryption/passowrd/etc.
dhcp is enabled both on the router and the PC
both PDA's connect to the Zyxel router and show very with good signal strenght.
the router recognizes the signal of both pda's and displays correct mac-address and ip address of both
BUT,
THE BLUE ANGEL CAN BROWSE THE WEB USING TE WIFI/ADSL CONNECTION AND CAN ACCESS MY PC DIRECTORIES/RESOURCES, WHILST THE TRINITY DOES NOT!
it cannot locate webpages and does not connect to network.
i tried all possible combinations of wlan/wifi/connection settings, but no way!
Am i doing something wrong? is there any special setting to be done with wm6?
i dont believe the fault is in shadowmite's rom as even before flashing to this fantastic rom i had tried once with wm5 and had same problem (though i did not dig too much in it)
Can anybody help me?
Check if you are using a proxy in your gsm settings. If it is so, use someting like Advanced Settings or Trinityhacks or something ele to disable the proxy during wi-fi connections.
Ciao
wm6+wm2003+ router wifi
thks yr reply claros.
i checked my gsm settings (you mean my ISP connection settings?) and there is not mention of proxy server in there
i only found proxy server option in MY Work connection settings and it is disabled.
all settings are exactly same as on the blue angel which is working fine...
do you know if this is a common problem with wm6?
any suggestion how to proceed?
found solution!!!!!
eureka
i found the solution in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315982
its very easy! just go to wlan power tab and move the horizontal slide fully to the left (best performance)
magically my triniry now is connecting to internet via wifi!
great!
ps: still cannot access myh pc directories but i guess i will solve by installing Resco explorer
thanks
Hi guys.
Im an Asus p535 owner and since i bought it im having some problems with wifi. I use this setting at home and everything works fine:
Authentication : Shared
Date encription: WEP
and then i put my PW.
NO IP and no DNS. all in blank (To use DHCP)
The router assigns an IP to my pda (DHCP server).
But when i wish to connect to a FREE AP i cant,my friend with his N95 has no problems to log into them everything goes auto for him, when i go to his house and I try to log int his wireless network settin the right key i also cant. i have tried, the problem is that according with my PDA the AP doest asisgn an IP to my PDA, it looks like my home settings are brozen and the PDA tries to find the gateway in the same IP when i check the stupod asus P535 wifi manager there is no way to make disapear my home gateway and DNS. i tried with renew setting wifimanager OPEN and NO KEY, chaging default channel, but there is no way i have even upgraded my ROM to unofficial 6.1. If i set a random IP manually it connects but ofc inet doest work since the gateway used is not right. thx to this web wich at least runs faster than the previous one... sry for my bad english. and ty for all. Sry if this post is and old issue i did my best lookin for Asus P535 wifi problems and WM 6 wifi problems but didnt get nothing... all i got was that the new ROM said WIFI fixed... but no for me ><.
Asus P535 Wifi does not working even with Wifi fixed ROM Solved!
If your ASUS P535 WiFi does not work under WM6 (even with ROMs that has WiFi fix):
- The turn on WiFi option is grayed out (not available)
- The WiFi is on, but you cannot connect, jumps back to available status, after connecting to network..
Download the 4.70 radio firmware, copy to MiniSD card, connect USB or AC power, start FW setup on PDA simply by clicking on it to upgrade, soft-reset after completed.
http://www.asusp535.com/download/firmware/radio/P535-FW-V470.rar
Test WiFi connection, and if it still does not work, use those reg files attached in wifi_regsetup.zip on PDA, and press yes when it asks for confirmation.
Soft reset when complete.
With this fix I was able to connect anything but WPA2-AES network, it was a long connection attempt, over 4 min.
Tested with PDAViet_WM6.1_19900 ROM:
http://www.asusp535.com/download/firmware/unofficial/PDAViet_WM6.1_19900.rar
I suck with this WiFi problem for 4 days, now i can sleep at last...
Bye!
