I was wondering if anybody else has tried SmartToolkit ALPHA-3C and got it running.
It does not start on my device with the LVSW WM6 (20070326_WM6_HERMES_WWE_3.23.0.2_1.38.00.10)
The developers page is a little vague about the system requirements
Device Requirement
All Windows Mobile Smartphone QQVGA (176x220), QVGA (240x320), Landscape (320x240).

Seems a nice free add-on...
The Hermes is not a "Windows Mobile Smartphone" it's a "Windows Mobile PocketPC Phone Edition".

inmarsat - have you seen another emulator other than the ones built into evc? It would be cute. The evc one is most (or only!? )useful for developers I guess.

the key point is not evc, it's wether the emulator is a PPC one or an mobile phone one, coz they have got different OS
I think
EVC has an emulator for PPC and Smartphone, Win Mobile 2003 and Win Mobile 5 I think. Just download each of the SDKs.
V
ok

both from microsoft website? i only found ppc emulator with evc. anyway, il have a look at it as you suggested.
thanks 4 ur suggestion!
of course, your code needs to be compiled to run on the emulator. You can't just take normal StrongArm (ie real) PDA programs and run them on the emulator.
Hope the info helps. BTW, I think microsoft will post out free demo disks of the SDKs and visual studio if you look around on the website.

Hi.
The "emulators" inside the PPC 200x SDKs / WinCE SDKs are not really emulators.
They can be seen as swappers, because they do not emulate ARM processors.
If you need a real PocketPC / Smartphone emulator with real ARM emulation,
than try google: "device emulator", "Windows CE 5.0 Device Emulator", "device emulator 1.0"
You will find (an unofficial) emulator/ emulators, which is/was/were also developed by $Micro****$.
I downloaded "Opera 8.00u1" on my O2 XDA Exec, and it didn't work. Windows extending out of screen display area, tried to play around but no success.

Cool! Opera is great on the desktop. Can you explain more about its strengths and weaknesses? Does it work in VGA mode?

yes, if you set the fonts to be smooth and small. Outstanding. A little bit of pain for your eyes, though.
Probably the rendering is more suitable for a portrait smartphone screen, but I think it will change when the definitive program will be released.

I tried it a couple of months ago. Ignore that it only works on smartphones, worked fine on my XDAII (Mobile 2005). I think i just extracted the cabs out and installed it manually.
Gonna try it again on EXEC hopefully it will make browsing easier.
I'm a newbie to the X1 (just got it yesterday) and Windows Mobile (coming from years with Samsungs and S60), how do I access the engineering menu on the X1 if it's possible?
unlike almost all other phones, Windows Mobile Devices doesn't have (afaik) an engineering menu.
instead, all the settings are accessable from Windows Registery (YES WM have a registery).
cheers

I'm looking forward to testing the new Office Mobile 2010. If anyone knows where I can find cab (or exe) to download I will appreciate.

You can download it from the marketplace, or you can visit these posts for a .cab.
Below is a link to the marketplace where you can get it.

If you're serious about running business-quality software on your PDA, try Softmaker Office instead. It's what mobile documents should be. Even the MS desktop version has very, very little over the mobile version of Softmaker. And the desktop version of Softmaker is every bit as good as MS Office in all respects. And for about $80 you get a license for both the desktop and PPC versions.
Thanks to All. I could have checked Marketplace before asking. Sorry about that.
I couldn't imagine the Beta would be available there for download.
Thank to all of you guys.

For some reason it doesn't appear in My Market Place on my Xperia X1. I am running Windows Mobile 6.5
I went to the Market Place website on the PC and "bought" it there. Still doesn't appear on Mobile.
Downloaded the cab file from link and installed ^^ thanks.

Are you in the States?
I have the same problem - it isn't listed in Marketplace, but I am in Canada. I am running an old HTC S620 with a 3VO 6.5 cooked ROM (which runs great and indentifies itself as a 6.5 device)
I have heard that it is only available in the States currently. I am now running the Office 2010 Beta on my desktop (and love it - was using 2003 PRO)

Yes, I second this - Soft Maker has been indispensable for mobile document processing. Its worth every penny you plan to spend!

I doubt such a thing exists as Windows apps won't work on a Windows Mobile device.
Try RDM+
Ppl asked many times about that...
I don't think what RDM+ supporting RemoteApp. Where is nothing said about this feature on RDM site.

RDM+ doesn't support RemoteApp. Though there is another client - TSMobiles (available for JAVA and BB), which does.
