how to back up the contacts in atom exec? - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

in the old xda I used, it got xbackup, but in this atom exec I cannot find any applications able to back up the contacts. can anyone please help me?

You need an additional software, like pimbackupcontact. This app will store your contact, message, etc to storage card.
try this one.

Contacts Question

Hey everyone,
I just got an I-Mate JAM, i just wanted to see if anyone can tell me how i can get my phonebook (thats store on my sim) into the contacts part of my JAM.
Also if anyone has any suggestions as to programs or tips would be great.
Thanks
T
I haven't actually tried this, but in your Programs list you should have SIM Manager.
Tools, Select All, Save To Contacts

Want to redo phone, how do I backup and which of the ...

My phone suddenly feels sluggish as if some program is hogging all the memory and I've made a bit of a mess anyway :?. I also just recently got a 1GB mini SD and want to install apps to it.
I need to backup: my contact list, call history, text messages, notes, tasks and also calendar.
How do I go about doing this?
Also which of the following should go on PPC and which are fine to run off the SD?
-TCMP (which cab am I supposed to use again?)
-Skype (going to try new one)
-Total Commander
-Real player (don't think TCMP can play such files)
-The tweak app posted here
-Adobe acrobat reader PPC (I know there's something else but I don't remember its name)
-minimo (seems pretty interesting haven't had the chance to try it out yet)

Contact list, notes, tasks, calender is backuped with ActiveSync. You don't have to worry if ActiveSync works fine with Outlook.
About the call history and text messages I don't know. I myself haven't find them that important.
I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager for backups:
http://www.sunnysoft.com/en_clanek.php?clanekid=51
Check it out ... it's good if to restore to a snapshot before you screw up your device.
And remember to "redo your phone" with the newest available ROM.
To be honest, I have been running without Activesync. Don't think I have outlook installed...hmm. Is there any way to do it so that it can be loaded directly onto the phone? Otherwise I guess I will have to install it as it comes with office if I remember correctly.
If I can't backup text messages...hmm...there must be away. I would like to keep the call history but it looks like it can't be helped...I'll have to run through and collect some of those numbers :x
Do I really need the newest ROM for my mini S? :? The one on it right now works great. Heck even skype worked acceptably till now...

I suppose it's possible if you know where the data is saved. But I think there won't be a simple way of doing it. I would myself be intresting where the data can be found.

Once you "redo your phone" ... it's your best opertunity to upgrade the ROM. And I prefer you do so to avoid problems in the feature. Your device will be faster and be more stable (ROM 2.17).
2.17...Is that an O2 ROM? I will first need to figure out how to save those text messages. Hmm.... Worth emailing MS?

2.17 is the ROM HTC has distributed to all brands/countries ... depeding on each contact it depends when the ROM is available officially.
I think it's no worth mailing MS. Hope someone here know where the SMS are saved.

Shareware ... you may be able to test them during the time you "redo your phone".

MSN Hotmail/Messenger - Missing :-(

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro, but am currently using the latest Vodafone ROM.
This doesn't have the MSN (Hotmail/Messenger) Utility.
I've gone to the MSN website, and they're charging for the file, does anyone have the CAB file for it?
I'm NOT asking for an illegal copy, as I have a T-Mobile MDA which comes with it anyway, just want to know if anyone has the CAB, or knows how I can extract it from the T-Mobile ROM.
Cheers!
You could always change to the most recent t-mobile rom?

I wouldn't go near it. I use the dopod Radio ROM which is 1.11.00, and haven't had a dropped call since.
I've found other ROMs and ExtROMs a lot faster, as there's more free memory, if you try them you'll see what I mean :-D The only good thing about the T-Mobile ROMS is that it has MSN on it.
If you can't find the MSN file, try Agile Messenger. It is free and a lot faster than the built-in MSN on my QTEC ROM. Plus, you can use it for other accounts, not just hotmail. Take a look here: http://agilemobile.com/downloads.html

I've got that, but with the MSN one I could have my Hotmail account showing up in Messaging :-/ Any ideas how I can add that? It only lets me add a POP3 account if I do it manually.
Try manually executing \Windows\pmsnlauncher.exe or \Windows\instmsgr.exe
Hey,
I'm slightly confused here...
I have an MDA PRO and I don't have MSN. Should I? It doesn't appear to be on the CDs that came with the device either, and those two files in /windows are not present on my device.
Is there any way I can go about getting this as I'm on T-mobile without paying for it?
Cheers,
Dave
These two files are in the main OS ROM and all the ROM I've seen have them. In the case of vodaphone ROM, it just removes the shortcut and it can be manually launched. MDA Pro could be a different story.

You will lose all your appointments, contacts, SMSs, emails, etc. Unless you have it sync with Outlook (NOTE: sync with Outlook will not keep SMSs), which you can sync it back after the hardreset.
Anyway, if this PocketNotify.exe is your only concern, you won't need to 'Reinstall WM5'. I did a research on google, and it seems to be somewhere in your notification queue that you ought to able to have it removed with software like memMaid or Pocket Mech.
As with the camera, probably easier to do a hardreset.
Okay thank you very much, your information very helpful.....
Ask more, how to backup my contact before hardreset?

I found out hat the HTC interface sorts contacts using the outlook field DISPLAY AS, which bt default is LAST, FIRST.
I had to go thru all my contacts in outlook an dchange the DISPLAY AS field into FIRST LAST

Hi thanks for posting the cab, but for some reason its not working for me.
I've installed > restarted the phone > went into contacts, but still the same e.g. Lasr, First.
Please could give a brief explanation on how to get it to rearrange the contacts?
Many thanks.
...
After you install the .cab file you have to go in to the program folder and start the app that was installed. But if you sync ur contacts with a google account they will go back to last, first name after each sync.
Thanks!
I didn't realise it installed an accessible application, I thought it was just a fix, doh! lol
Thanks again.
