Hi,
Does anybody know how to setup the GPS (com? for programmes or com for hardware) so that Oziexplorer can be used?
Thanks!
Your question is general, what exactly do you mean by setting up?I use destinator as my gps (com 4 baud rate 115200) then i just press the gps signal icon in the application and in about 15 to 20 seconds i get a valid gps signal. In Ozi explorer the settings are the same, but would be safer to have a small application by the name of com splitter installed if you are using more than one gps application on your Orbit. If you want more precise answers about settings and all let me know.
Hi,
I have the P3300 and OziexplorerCe rev 1.11.1 installed on it. My problem is I can't have any connection to the GPS.
My config:
- NMEA baud = 4800 (I tried also 115200)
- Sentence = GPRMC
- Port = Com4
- Use Chk Sum = (ok)
- Check Valid = ( ok)
- GPS NMEA Output Datum = WGS 84
- Show GPS Fix Data = (ok)
- Say Fix Info = (ok)
- Show DGPS secs = (no)
- Trpmate GPS = (no)
For info, I am using Tomtom Navigator as well with no problem at all.
Any help please !!
Thanks
That is OK now, it works fine.

Any other suggestion?
I have an imate (XDAII) and use desinator in Australia with a clip-on BT GPS.
I have my Destinator settings set as
COM Port = COM5
Baud Rate = 38400
Protocal = NMEA
All I did was
1. Start BT as ON
- goto today screen
- press on the BT icon (bottom left)
- choose ON
2. Bond with the GPS
- goto "Bonded Devices" tab
- click "New..."
- search for device and select from list (mine says "ClipOn-BTGPS")
- enter PIN ("0000")
- it asks if you want to create a serial profile, say yes
3. Start Destinator
- if you are in navigation mode and have a Fix (middle light = green) then you should see your location on the map
- at this stage there should be a flashing blue light on the GPS and on your PDA
NOTE
- you only do the initial bonding once, normally just turn on BT on PDA, turn on GPS, then start Destinator
- I have had trouble attaching to GPS if I dont turn on BT before starting Destinator
- occasionally (about once a month or so) it seems to not work, so I just delete the bond, and re-establish it and it works again
- I am using the 1.72.00 WWE rom
- I am NOT using BT tools.
hope this helps
Thx a lot!
I'll try!
A little thing: I've bttools installed and when I bond the receiver I get only com7 as a choise!
Hope this helps someone else
Firstly here are the settings for GPS that get TomTom working on my HTC 3600i
Device - Settings / System / External GPS
Programs tab / GPS program port: COM4
Hardware tab / GPS hardware port COM9 / Baud rate 115200
Access tab / Manage GPS automatically (enabled/selected)
TomTom - Change preferences / Show GPS Status / Configure
Other NMEA GPS receiver / GPS baud rate 115200 / GPS in COM9
Make sure you have the a recent ROM installed (Windows Mobile 6 appears to connect faster than 5), some of the older ROM's for the 3600 don't have GPS enabled. I'm using the standard HTC 3.00.707.18. ROM.
Don't bother looking for a way to turn on GPS on the unit, this happens automatically, the only key here is to make sure that you have the correct settings & your device settings match up with TomTom.
Ensure that you are standing outside for GPS to connect, it may take up to 6-8 minutes for a cold sync (however should only take ~2 minutes).
To check if your GPS is actually working, go to show GPS status, if you see the message "GPS Device Not Found" it's not working properly, check the above steps again. If you see "No valid GPS signal!" this means your GPS is working, however not yet locked on-to satelites (you might also notice the blue and yellow circle spinning).
Hope this helps.
Cheers - Steve
Nice summary! It should be made sticky.
Just my 2 pennies: TomTom should be 6.03.
My config is: WM5, GPD1, COM9, baud rate 57600, and ticked "Manage GPS automatically".

hi steve,
my GPS works fine and i have baud rate set to 4800. will it be more efficient to set the baud rate to the highest setting 115200, like yours? what is the real different in baud rate, really? please comment.

Setting the baud rate to anything other than 4800 has no real effect as the amount of data being transferred is minimal.
For any version of tomtom prior to 6.03 you would set your TT preferences to "other NEMA". Version 6.03 and 6.032 automatically select "internal GPS receiver" so there is no need to change anything.
Thanks ozsmac...worked beautifully...
I can also vouch that this works for TomTom 5.21.
Cheers!!

via Settings->System->GPS I can select the com port on my T-Mobile Ameo DE
on TomTom you choose other NMEA receivers.
hi
in settings under external gps it asks for
programs .> gps program port ????
Hardware -> gps harware port -> i set it to com 4 57600
access - manage it autimatically is checked
and gps does not get any setting s in google maps
just says seeking sattleites ????
Hi.
In settings>system>external GPS:
GPS program port: WM5 -> com4, WM6 -> com5
Hardware : WM5 -> none, 4800, WM6 -> none, 9600
manage it automatically: checked
In TomTom (GPS status):
WM5: internal GPS, 4800, com4
WM6: other NMEA receiver, 9600, com5
These settings work for my device, hope it helps.
Mauro
On Google Maps and Delorme Maps I get "searching for satellite" when the settings are right, but it hasn't locked-on yet. When the settings are wrong, I almost instantly get an error message. So I'm guessing if you see "searching..." you have your settings right.
As for finding a signal, the achille's heel on this unit is locking on when you are inside (either a building or even some cars). Outside or inside my car it will lock on in 20-30 seconds, sometimes sooner. Inside my house or office it will fail 98% of the time. The sirf/star unit attached to my Palm will lock on inside my house - in the middle of the 1st floor - in under 20 seconds.
I think with all the trade-offs they had to make to get all 4 antennas to work together without interference, the signal strength on the internal GPS antenna got the short straw. I have top-notch strength on the cell and bluetooth antennas, so obviously they got top priority. I don't use wifi so I don't know how well it works, but the gps signal strength could use some work for the future X7502...
GPS, TomTom
I have a T-Mobile Ameo and recently I have installed TomTom Navigator 6.
when I start TomTom it takes between 5-20 minutes before it gets connected with a satellite.
Is this normal, or is there a problem..?
if not, what should I do to resolve this problem..?
grtzz,
Avicenna
I have recently installed TT7 with the v7 map.
The thing is i can´t configure TT7 to use the built in receiver opion.
To make it work i have to manually configure the GPS reveiver in TT.
I use the black version of TT7...
Any workaround for this?
It's the only working configuration for p3600
- "altri gps NMEA" - com9 - 4800 baud -
I think that tomtom 7 is optimized for htc diamond and it has a different internal gps chip.
But working and this is good
4800 or 9600 baud???
I´m using 9600 baud, why do you use 4800?
I'm also using 9600Baud works fine here....
Actually this only occurs if you use the repack 3 of the original TT7 port (from Touch diamond).
I loaded this today as I had re-flashed my ROM and wanted to try the re-pack.
I have since gone back to the original port and TT7 doesn't need any set-up for the GPS receiver....it automatically selects the uilt in unit.
By the way....after a bit of research it turns out the re-packs were done for 2 reasons. One was to allow devices which were not on the original approved device list (hence they wouldn't load) and secondly to allow the use of maps aquired by other means.........
I am going to stay with the clean original........it works just fine for me....
Problem With Mine Too

Which Tomtom7 version did you use? If you used the re-pack3 verssion you need to set the GPS receiver (in Tomtom) to Other Nema GPS.
If it is the standard Tomtom7 from the Kaiser thread it should find the internal GPS receiver without you doing anything.
finnaly working
ok
1º thank you Andych for giving me that hint
2º i whant to say that i had to change my WM version from
001TNYSXY - CE OS 5.2.19588 (Build 19588.1.1.4) WWE
to
Trinity WM 6.1 Diamond edition by Akeo V2 ---- v2 because v3 is off line still
and made some changes for ex:
took out:
TomTom 7 v.7.450 (9028)
and put in:
repack 3 of the original TT7
map: iberia-13 v.720.1803
GPS settings:
gps program port: com1
gps hardware port: com9
baud rate: 9600
and set the GPS receiver (in Tomtom) to Other Nema GPS
thank you all
i've tested 4800 and 9600 baud without difference so i use 4800 but 9600 works fine too.
Internel GPS
Work the internal gps with the repack 1 or 2 version???
I'm using TT7 v.7.450 (9028)
Other NMEA GPS
Baud Rate: 115200
COM9
Works perfectly, in fact seems to get a signal quicker than it did with TT6.
PS - Using ROM 007TNYSTD
I ve testet the black cap with the NMEA gps settings and is is very slow.
Then a reinstalled the black cap to the original tt 7 i have imediatly a signal with the iternal GPS.
The original TT7 is much faster than the black editions.
I got the black TT7 from this forum....
I didn't know there were other versions but it does seem rather slow.
Make My Day!, could you give me a link to the version that you say is faster than the black one please?
I mean that was the original CAP ( 1 link )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401679
but you musst find the original (better) exe^^
I cant find it any longer. its delete from server where i find it.
Black repack edition: gps fix coldstart longer then 1 min only NMEA settings
original cap : gps fix very coldstart 5- MAX--> 10 seconds with Internal GPS
Ok well I'll try and find a version that isn't black then if that means I can get a quicker fix... Thanks for your help.

No the GPS is off only you start tomtom it start too.
The Batary life is very long.
But the 1 start after insatll it can be that you musst wait for the signal becouse tomtom musst search the satelites.
Can't fin the TT7 original CAB
Can anyone give the link, or link here the original CAB so we can tast that?

Hi guys.
I have downloaded a small app to test GPS ... was never using GPS before on my Omnia2 ... and cannot find any satelite !!! Was trying to change ports (7 -> 4) and define different ports in this program (GPS Cycle Computer - http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-cycle-computer.html) but cannot make my phone seeing any satelite !!!
Have also installed [GPS] Mod Driver, set Port2 in GPS Cycle Computer but still without any success.
Can anybody share the GPS settings and explaing how to make it working, please.
Thanx a million in advance !!!
Hi.
Today was testing again ... on the open area (and not by the window at home ;-) )... everything works ... it just took about 5 mins to find several satellites.
Has set port 4 and 9, speed 4800. Have tested GPS Cycle Computer via port 4 - working fine. And also via port 2 ([GPS] Mod Driver) - working also fine. Next start of the program took about 1 min to find satellites.
Good luck to all.
P.S. Telephone module must be ON ... not in the FLIGHT Mode (when Radio transmission is disabled) .... in that case GPS module is also disabled)
Hi,
My OMNIA2 it was allways taking time to FIX position with NDRIVE, and with TOMTOM allways saying that signal was week or if I was inside a building.
I installed an app to manage GPS port and virtual ports and in this moment fix is very fast and TOMTOM takes about 10s to fix position also on movement...
It solved my problem and from othar OMNIA II owner so I'll hope it helps you...
