I currently have my wizard setup as a moden to feed my laptop internet via bluetooth and it seems to work quite well but my laptop does not have bluetooth so i am forced to use an adapter which is sort of a pain. is it possible to do something similar with wifi? i cant seem to make it work.
any help would be appreciated.
Derek
u would have to set up and Ad-Hoc connection between your wizard and laptop and set internet connection sharing over that connection.
is it possible to enable ICS on WM5? i looked through the options and i culod not see it. are there any programs out there that do it?
Hi all,
I've seen a lot of threads specifying how one would go about using the bluetooth to share the phone's internet connection. However, I would like to do the opposite, that is, share the PC's internet connection via bluetooth so that I can surf the net on my phone (I do not have wifi). Any help would be most appreciated.

many more hits of you use search and search "bluetooth AND modem"
thanks for the reply, but i already know how to do this. Perhaps you didn't understand my question; I do not want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem. I would like to use my home ADSL connection via bluetooth to access the internet through my phone. This feature was there by default in my SE P910i, and I'm sure it should be possible to do this via my XDA as well. Once again, I do NOT want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem
when connected to activesync pda's have the same network access as the pc they are connected to unless one have disabled it
so synch with bluetooth to your pc and you got it's internet
Check this page. Hope it helps you

I'm successfully running such a setup, using Linux (w/ bluez stack) on the Internet Gateway. However, I had only luck with the Widcomm stack on the Windows Mobile, w/ the MS stack, I could not manage to find any way to use DUN or NAP. With Widcomm, you can configure access via a "Bluetooth Access Point", which will use DUN services on the Host (Gateway) computer. On Linux, this means setting up dund (comes with bluez) and configuring a PPP profile for it.
Any idea if Widcomm BT stack is available for installing it on WM5. I think mine is with MS by default and couldnt find an option to configure it.
I think it isn't offered for free to the public. Nevertheless, there seem to be a few CABs with the broadcom/widcomm stack out there in the WWW. Google might lead you the way...
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys.
I have succesully used DUN with both my original iMate Jamin ROM and PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 ROM to access the internet via a linux box running Bluez and dund.
I was hoping the new PAN profile in wm6 would allow me to simplify and setup a standard wm6 PANU -> linux NAP. However it looks like wm6 only supports running as a NAP and wont allow you to do that unless your connected to the internet via GRPS etc.
Is it possible to either add support for PANU in wm6 or activate the NAP without an active connection?

Yeah it's fairly simple. Make sure Activesync 4.5 is installed on your laptop (don't know if you need it if you use Vista)
Connect your laptop to the device with USB cable.
On your device start Internet Sharing (if it doesn't have it then you will need to install a ROM that does... pretty much all cooked ROMS do)
Then click connect... give it a few seconds and you should be able to connect to internet via your phone's internet connection
You can also do this via bluetooth. First go to Internet Sharing and instead of USB select 'Bluetooth PAN' in the drop down box
Click connect...
Then only your Laptop in Control Panel> Networks tell it to connect to Bluetooth Pan and you should be done.
You can even do this via Wifi but you need to get commerical software called WMWifiRouter
Cheers. I found that the bluetooth I was using was a little complicated. Ended up using an older stick and it works great. Thanks.
Hi, Folks,
I was trying to connect a HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) to Internet over a bluetooth connection with a HTC Diamond, but no success...
First i tryed to connect using a DUN (Dial-up Network), but I don't know why, this dosn't work.
Second, i tryed to connect using the Internet Connection Share (ICS) on Diamond, but i don't found a way to join in a Bluetooh PAN with my Kaiser.
I've made a lot of searchs in this forum and the Google, but nothing that i found solves my problem.
In one of links/articles/wikis it tell me to use a Bluetooth Manager, but i don't have it.
Anyone has any idea to solve this problem?
Thx a lot! (and sorry about my english)
Try WmWifirouter. It essentially creates a P2P network over wifi. Was there a specific reason to use bluetooth?Im sure both devices have Wifi.

WMWiFiRouter does the job.

or icscontrol and set the private interface to BTPAN on the serving ppc
Don't forget to setup the connection as ad-hoc.
You won't be able to share the net in managed mode.
It is possible to share internet over bluetooth.

nice link. do you know if you can connect a PDA/Mobile through your PC's Broadband Connection? See my mini diagram below?
Mobile --- (through bluetooth)---> PC --(through WIFI/Cat5e) ---> Router ----> INTERNET
Thanks
Hello!
The internet on Touch HD does not work over Activesync bluetooth connection. There is no problem over Activesync USB connection.
I use Windows 7. Tried to disable windows-firewall and COMODO-firewall, no result. I also tried to reinstall bluetooth stack (toshiba), no result as well.
It synchronizes with my laptop, but i can't reach Microsoft Exchange server because no internet is found on the device.
There was no such problem before i made hard-reset on the device.
Does anyone know how i can fix it?
Thank you!
settings->connections->connections->advanced-Select network
choose my network or whatever it's called on your setup rather then my isp
or whatever it's called on your setup then it use bluetooth activesync to access network
Thank you! But it did not worked...
