Help with SD Cards please - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi there one and all... I was wondering, on all the official documents and reviews i can find, the Magician (O2 xda II mini variant) can support SD/mmc cards... as well as SDIO cards... does that mean i ca stuff an 8gb SDHC card in it and run it without any problems???

hey,
dont think that the mini will support a 8 GB SDHC card. do a search on the forum n u will find something on the capacity that the mini can support

Maximum Storage Card Size

Can anybody tell me what is the maximum capacity of a microSD card that the Hermes can take? I want to buy the biggest it will support!
Thanks
With the newest cooked WM6 Roms, the hermes now supports SDHC cards. Thus, it should work with any of the newest SDHC MicroSD cards. The size limit is currently 4GB b/c that is the largest Micro SD card available. It should work fine with the 8GB cards when they hit the market. I currently use a 4GB Sandisk MicroSD and it works perfectly.
second that, 4gb micro sandisk. anyone find them cheaper than $100 at verizon stores? i scoured the web hard to find in stock
thnx, i probably will buy a 4gb microsd now

Q on 4Gb SD Micro SD Card
Hey guys,
I use an XDA Orbit which i got from UK, had the ROM upgraded to tom codon's B&B 3.5 and now going for the 3.7 version. I currently uses a 512MB SD. So I was thinking of getting a 2GB SD, but seeing that eBAy has 4GB ones I thought to get that one.
Here is the problem, I was wonderin whether it will support 4GB. can any one who had used a 4Gb tell me does it support in an orbit running WM6 B&B PDViet 3.7. How's the file transfer rate and all that. If by any chance the orbit supports a 4GB card, which type exactly, I mean the HC ones, I really donno what that is, I read it in the forum somewhere. so pls tell me.........
Cheers.
What's an Orbit?? This is Hermes area.

I think the cooked ROM's that now have SDHC capability are truly awesome. I use an X500 (ETEN) and I'm extremely jealous, as we don't have that capability yet !!
My question: do these new SDHC ROM's also have the ability for backwards compatibility ? That is, if you insert a 2Gb FAT16 card in the slot, will the O/S read/write OK ?
Resurrecting an old post so I don't hear "use the search funcion"...
Anyone tried one of the new 16gb cards with their Hermes?
Looking to upgrade for my BB, but want a card compatible w/ my Hermes as well...
4GB in use,i think 8GB is supported.
16Gb reported to work too, can't say as I only use an 8Gb. No probs there though...
I updated to one of the wm6.1 ROMs & i use a 16GB microSD in my Hermes (MDA Vario II)
Fat32 is the key
Since a card is formatted under FAT32 filesystem, its limit is 2 Terabytes if it is formatted with 64k clusters or 8 Terabytes under 32kb per cluster.
Of course, the actual memory card is limited to 16gb but upgraded every year.

Largest miniSD card?

I just purchased a t-mobile mda off ebay and it came with only a 64MB miniSD card. What is the largest size miniSD card the phone will recognize? Will it recognize the miniSDHC cards? Thanks in advance.
Some people have got 4gb mini sd cards working in their devices. Other people can only handle 2 gb cards.

Yes I experienced the same thing. I purchased a 4gig minisd card but it would not even read the card as if it wasn't there. After that, I purchased a 2gig and that worked fine.
I think the problem with some of those 4gig minisd cards is that they are dual-partition and the Wizard(to the best of my knowledge) does not support dual partition sd cards like other PPC's such as the TyTN II.
Why don't just have a look into the accessories section instead of a new thread? ... you will find a couple of other threads about the topic already!
BTW, miniSDHC are not supported!

I actually dual partitioned mine myself using wm5storage and it works fine that way. As far as I know, nobody's actually figured out why 4 Gb cards work for some people and not for others and their are still others that they work for but the cards constantly get corrupted. I'm part of the latter group, but since I've been using a newer version of a cooked WM6 the card hardly corrupts at all anymore.

Max microSD size??

Does anyone know what is the maximum microSD size that the Herald supports? I have a 2GB card and want to boy a 4GB o 8GB card, but dont know if the device will support it.
Thnx in advance.
Check this thread
SDHC card patch WM5 and WM6 working
I'm using a 4 gb Sandisk in my Wing and it works just fine.
Thank David and oldjarhead for the tip, so you guys used the patch to make the Wing able to read SDHC cards right? I'm going to invest in a 4gb SDHC at least.

Xda mini S don't read micro SD 8GB with a mini adapter

Hey guys. I have a problem. I have a micro sd 8gb for my tytn ii and it works great but when I put the micro sd into a mini adapter for my xda mini s, the device can't real it nor my computer. Is there any way to make it read the micro sd?
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Nope! The Wizard does not support SD cards bigger than 2GB, the hardware simply cant read anything higher than that.
my wizard running with a 4gb card
yes but....
Surely your miniSd 4 gb isnt HC.
The wizard dont read SDHC Mini SDHC or MicroSDHC Understand?!

Almost any 4gb SD card will work properly as in most of the newer ROM´s there is a tool for changing the type of the card
I´m using an SDHC 4gb kingston card and works great!
But is better used 4GB SD card or SDHC card?
4GB card can only be SDHC (anything over 2GB has to be SDHC by definition)

HI mate. Download this excellent file from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377391
then I dont think any card will be a problem. After I installed that cab file. I am now using an 8gig transcend. ( TF CARD in a SD ADAPTER ).

that is absolutely not true. i have a 4gb card at home, which is NOT sdhc. 4gb is the size border between the two standards and therefore there are both standards present at that size.
