Urgent Request (XDA II Locked, Total Noob , Please help!)

Hi all,
first off all i'd like to say Hi to everyone as im new here.
Also id like to thank everyone for readingmy problems
Any way i purchased an XDA II about a Week ago from Ebay its really my fault as in the item description it said there was a problem with the phone it wont start as its locked.
The phone goes to a Blue screen after you ON it and do the screen configiration etc
The blue screen has Cognito on it saying 'Warning this Devcie is Locked'
then under it:
'If you are installing from the MMC card please wait.
Otherwise, either insert the MMC card and do a cold boot, or contact Cognito to unlock the device.
Im not sure what this means and if i leave the phone for a while or type it from it takes me to a password screen in white with the keyboard on it.
----
Im not sure what to do if you can help me you will save me alot of money otherwise do i just chuck the phone away also
ive tried a Hard Reset by clicking the POWER BUTTON, RESET KET.
nothing happens just the phone loads up and makes me Calibrate the screen.
Ive tried this process while also pressing the D-PAD i get a screen with Serial with V1.06 i think at the bottom
i dont really know how i can know if its Hard resetted.
So please peolple take a Minute to help me thanks alot.
may work not too sure though
hey man i feel sorry for you
okay wot u do is download the o2 rom for the device because u sed it is a xda2 so download and install that. this will do a comlpete rest not like hard reset it will deleted absolutly everything on the xda2 and then install indows 2003 back onto it it will be like getting a new fone. try it i hope it works for u
HI
Thank you so much.
For your Advice and Time.
can you confirm this will remove that Lock thing ?
Also do you know where i can download Win2003 for XDA II o2 UK
Thank again
Hi,
I flashed the himalaya M1000 with WM2003se upgrade. but still could not remove the Cognito (shame).
please if somebody can help that would b nice
Should do. I've done the 1.72 update on it based on the ROM from this site and all is good.

gone and broke it

any help is gratefully received.
i was doing a rom update(pugs) and the unit has become stuck in what i think is bootloader mode. the screen is dark and displays "serial v1.01
after much searching on this forum i tried to hard reset then run maupgradeut again.
problem is that activesync no longer detects my device.
ive tried pressing power/reset/action buttons to no effect.does this mean i now have a pretty coffee coaster.
now you were at bootloader mode. try remove the device n put it back on cradle, for sure windows will detect it. after that, try run the upgrade again. The problem that you're having now are same like me when I first bought my device. The answer is good being a newbies n ready to ask question at here. hahahahah
thanks
now youve hit the nail squarely on the head. i thought i knew enough to update but when its gone boobies up realised i dont.
ive tried resetting the device and then connecting to my pc several times with no success.
anyone know how to take the device out of bootloader mode. im hoping theres a backup stored on the device that will boot...or...anyone know how to get the pc to recognise the damn thing before i launch it out of the window(all the way to an o2 shop).
im sure im not alone(can hear the voices)
took some brain power on my part. turns out microsoft activesync was the problem.
upgraded to the latest version and everything went as it should.

Need help with wizard!

hi guys! I need your help.. my wizard keeps on booting up. What happened was, I tried to fix the stylus.. and the stylus problem has been resolved.. I noticed that the volume button becomes loose.. so I opened the wizard again.. I accidentally pulled the whole board and noticed that there is this orange flat wire-like thing.. so I placed it back. however looks like i did not successfully placed it back because when I tried to turn on the device.. it keeps on booting up with the T-mobile logo..
I removed the battery and placed the power cord and tried to turn on the device agian ad same problem happens...
is there like a way to diagnose or check on the circuitry ? is there like a link that you guys can provide me with..?
waaaah!!! i badly need help..
I was able to hard reset and set the device on bootloader..
thanks in advance..
Service manuals were/are available on the ftp, not sure how much help they will be to you though. I dont think they will help you much. I hope you get your device fixed.
the flat wire is the keyboard connection,
google 'wizard service manual' there are links on other forums and maybe here, it's too big to upload and i don't know how to zip it up at the moment, maybe i'll find out later

With regard to restorig WM5 - I have the official O2 XDA Exec files for their last software release. But I think you said your's is an iMate. You could see if the iMate version listed here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Upgrades is still available - if not maybe someone has a copy somewhere.
Hope this helps.

bro thankx for help i actually flashed my uni with kdskamal cooked wm5 bt my jasjar still gets dead on a greenish screen as it used to get before in blue screen wht m i supposed to do...??
Hi,
Try flashing with a WM6 rom (Tomal's ROMs are always good) and see if you get the same symptoms.
If you do then I suspect that you have a screen/cable connecting screen problem.
But lets rule out software first.
greetings bro...!!
i was up all night flashing wms
i used mtty software so many times that its commands are like hard weird in my brain cant get them out now....lolzzz
my stubborn uni was still stuck on the same dead screen but the only fun thing was that every time i flashed a new wm it used to get stuck on diff colours blue red green black...lolzzz
i scratched my head and i scratched my ass to an extent that i guess it started thinking lolzzz
i got some nice screw drivers and opened up my uni..
damn dis thing is wicked and messy it has things dat i dont know about n havnt even dreamd of in my stupidest dream i hav been lost in a computer motherboard with some good virus as my friend n some bad scary virus but in my uni motherboard i would neva..!
so i just fixed it back...n it worked for a while n den i dont know what tickled its ass.
busted again...!!
i guess ill hit the HTC service centre.
thanx allot bro
respect for ur effort and help...
Hi
for some strange reason the option "incoming com port" in the blue-tooth setting on my jasjar has disappeared. i was wondering if anyone else faced the same problem or if there is a way around it? editing registry n stuff.
because of this the previously paired devices are working fine but the new devices are unable to search the serial/com port facility on my uni.
i have tried resetting but still no luck.
any suggestions?
also i would really appreciate if someone could give me a solution for reading arabic and other such languages on uni.
(btw i am using i.e.TML 8.5 Rom and when i installed it at first the functionality was present so it cant be a ROM issue.)
...
lol... sorry abt earlier maite! i just realized the ridiculous thing i just did. i was supposed to post the reply to ur prob and then start with my sad story but somhow i managed to skip step one .
i m not expert on the device but i like it very much so i when i got one with my o2 contract i bought another one sim free just so that one would keep other company. as far as ur issue goes i have faced almost the same prob in the past and the solution was
1) rotate the screen 90 to get acess to screws at the bottom of the screen.
2) open the screws screws ... btw u might wana check if they are properly fastend before you try this step as i observed that if the screws are properly tightened this problem may solve itself... carrying on open the screws and that would detach the screen from the hinges.
3) where the hinge comes off strip open the cover a little bit and you will see two connections, one for the backlight and one for display (just like any other LCD screen.
4) press the big grip like thingee i.e. display connector with a flathead screw driver to assure they are properly in place. because in my case the connector had come off and hence was causing the system crash. although in my case the screen was only going blue after a while not the whole color palette.
just try if this one works because i m not sure if imate people are going to be any help in this case. i tried calling them a few months back for the lenscover and they said they dont support this device any more :S.

Please could any one help me spv m5000 stuck at boot screen

Hi Guys
Please could any on help me i have a orange spv m5000 i think i flashed wrong rom killed phone, but have managed to hard reset via, on button plus the two minus buttons and the soft reset hole, but when i press 0 to restore factory defaults i then see the text ( serial and v2.01 ) but phone will not start up, when i plug in usb cable the only thing that shows up in windows is (pocketpc smartphone) in the safely remove hardware on taskbar then i tryed uni_exitbootloader but get error (cannot open usb port) i have stopped activesync usb detection, but still no joy.
is there a way to get the usb port opened or is this phone bricked, Man i hope not i loved this phone and cant really afford to get another (Real hard times!) Man i hate learning the hard way.
I also read somewhere that the phones batterie memory can get curupted and there is a way to fix it by shorting out the pins if any one has that info that would be great as well.
a million thanks for any help any one could give I mean that folks.
if you think you can help would you be so kind as to send me an email telling me howto, [email protected]
again many thanks for any help
Regards
Daz
PS sorry if this is in wrong forum if it is could you tell me where its suppose to go cheers

Thanks again for answering
PPC
Hi Again
tried mtty, says
com1 port can not open
even though i disconnected active sync and usb cable as recommended but still no joy,
i still have the faint serial and version displayed on screen but it seems as though theres no way of finding a connection to the phone,
i havent tried doc format still looking on how to do that but i remember reading about that and i think i will still have same issue as mtty has, weird that in my task bar i can see ppc smart phone in safely remove hardware and yet no prog can get to it.
got a feeling this is a lost cause, sending it in for repair costs the same as buying a secondhand one so whats the point of repair! crap man this sucks
Orb could you suggest a good working rom for my spvm5000 so i could try a differant rom to see if that might make a differance ill try any thing at the mo,
oh well thanks for trying dude.
regards PPC
I would recommend Tomal 8.2, 8.5 or 8.9
