Hey I have a question. If I enter BL do I loose every data on my PDA (like hard reset) or not. I'm afraid of it but would really like to see magician's BL.
You'll loose anything on your Magician when entering bootloader EXCEPT if you do a full backup with SPB Backup first.
Damn! Thanks for warning.

Can you please clarify exactly what you're asking? I believe having the bootloader unlocked is a must, even if you have no plans on flashing ROMs or anything like that. I'll tell you why. Unlocking the bootloader wipes the device. It's better for you to do this while you're in control and can backup your data first. If you have problems with your phone in future and need to flash the factory images to revive it, you'll need an unlocked bootloader. You might not have access to your data at this time to be able to back it up first. This means you'll be forced to unlock the bootloader and wipe all of your data. Sure, you'll have to live with a little warning each time your phone boots up, but that's much better than losing your data if something goes wrong.

please give me a way for my question , thanks
Hi. I gonna try to help you. So if you "deleted" the root, the bootloader should be still unlocked. If not, on my Phone unlocking Bootloader did not erase my Data (watch RootJunkie)
Have a nice day!
how ??

No he has made an p8 vid too (sry for late response)
Hi, in the comments of his video on the bootloader unlock he says that it does require a factory reset.
Is there another video where he talks about that?
Mohammad did you manage to unlock the bootloader without the reset?
thanks

I unlocked my bootloader. It did not reset my phone or erase data. However on nexus and htc phone once you unlock the bootloader the phone factory reset itself. This is not true for Huawei. However if you update your phone via SD card after the bootloader is unlocked your phone will factory reset itself.
Hi,
I've just set up my Axon7 from scratch, after it returns from service, and set up new unlock pattern. I admit, I must've been drunk or something, because can't remember the pattern itself. Currently I unlock the phone with fingerprint sensor.
Is it possible to change/remove the unlock method without factory reset? As I said, the phone reads my fingerpritnts fine.
Thank's for any advice
1. Boot to TWRP
2. In File Manager go to the /data/system folder. Scroll down and find the two files with the .key extension. Delete both of them (by tapping on the file and then tapping the <Delete> button). Then, delete all the files containing the word locksettings:
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
3. Reboot system.

Is it possible for you to post in the right section (i.e. questions & answers)?
besides from that, the user above is right, you just have to do that
Thank you very much, for your advice.
Unfortunately I haven't rooted my phone yet, and after lecture of few tutorials I'm slightly intimidated, so...
Is it possible to do something with my problem without rooting, instaling custom recovery etc?
I could even accept factory reset, after all, but it asks for unlock pattern as well...

No man, without your bootloader unlocked there's not much you can do, unlock bootloader then install twrp and you'll be good to go
I made some digging, and found solution: Power on+vol up allowed factory reset, problem is solved.
Thank you all for your help.

i guess he was still a little drunk?
This is typical story, didn't take backups, didn't read, my own fault. Just want you guy to help me to let go.
Xiaomi Mi A1 .
Android 8.1 July Updates.
Followed this guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-google-camera-hdr-eis-xiaomi-mi-a1-without-root/
After oem unlock and reboot, got fully mint condition android, no files, no apps nothing. Don't remembrer if internal memory was encrypted.. maybe.. before I've removed pin and fingerprint.
After that, rooted phone using this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBkWUhJiqq8
Tried https://www.easeus.com - found nothing.
Can somebody just say: "It is impossible to restore any data after oem unlock and data being wiped out?"
Can I take some raw filesystem image and try to recover at least something?
IF your phone was encrypted, and got wiped during unlocking You can't do anything, especially on Oreo :c
I am not sure, but as Android clean itself, it not simply delete files, but overwrite space, that those files were stored on, to prevent unauthorised access.
you should've backed up before oem unlocking but if u ask me its good to reset ur phone because then u realize what apps u actually need and you will also realize it doesn't take that long to download the apps and btw you should enable the auto backuping feature so it doesn't matter if u forgot to backup because when u will reset ur phone u can access the backup that was backed up not that long ago

Let's say it wasn't encrypted, what are the tools and process of trying it out?

Yeah, thanks, it made me feel better but I've lost photos and files, that were important to me, and I'm paranoid enough not to have automatic backups to google
Try Disk Digger for Android. It helped me many times on PC. May be viable on android too. Use root mode if you can.

I dont know what files you lost but you should use google photos so it automatically backs up photos when u just take them, and also what is there to be paranoid of from enabling automatic backups from google?
and keep all data/apps installed.
Is this possible?
Thanks

It's unlocking the bootloader that wipes your device. If you've already done that, rooting won't wipe it.

I understand. So its not possible to unlock the bootloader without wiping, correct?
And is it possible to go back (locking the bootloader) and reseting to factory default? Or do I lose something (like Knox on Samsung devices)

If you haven't unlocked your bootloader, you don't have a choice, you're going to lose your data. Yes, you can go back to stock and locked pretty much whenever you'd like. Just don't try to re-lock the bootloader if you have any mods. This is my first OnePlus device, but it sounds like the restore tool can be used to restore to stock/locked regardless of any mods you may have, but don't take my word for it, do your homework first.
Do a backup and open the bootloader, you only have to do It once, and then, you could root when you want without lose anything.
