I wanted to try out noviiremote. I know most people dont get good range, but i thought i would try it anyway.
I installed it and set up the code base. As soon as i tried pressing a control(any control) an error message pops up telling me that the infra red port is in use by another program.i dont know what program that could be. I have incoming beams disabled. I have tried softresetting the phone and all that is running is active sync(which is setup to only sync to computers with the usb port). Whats wrong and how can i get this working?
ps i have the 8525
Hi m8...
Settings->Connections->Beam and check "Reveive all incoming beams"...
Is it working?

Hello All,
I don't know what is the problem. It seems ok for the first time after i installed the version 4.0 that comes with the CD. It works fine. But for the second time, it just 'connecting'. Have gone thru' the troubleshooting processes but without success. Also tried to install the new version 4.1 but won't work.
Pls can someone help me on this.

does it sync over BT?
i had the same problem before & i still do, but soem other guy here in the forum said it worked for him when he uninstalled AS then reinstalled it again.
try it, it might work with you.
until now i'm still stuck with BT syncing, i cannot sync over USB.
i still get "connecting" message all the time with no progress.
Hi Guys
I had EXACTLY the same problem, alhough I could not get BT to work but could get IRDA to work.
Here is what I THINK the problem is, by the way i-mate were useless it was a colleague at work that had finally found this problem on his device.
WM5 devices when connecting via USB create a NETWORK. Strange but true.
SO, open Control panels, open Network Connections.
Attach your K-JAM (or other WM5 device) you SHOULD see a new network get created with a random number at the end of it (the number changes depending on the USB port you use so you MAY need to do this procedure again if you connect via a different USB port).
Get the properties of this new network when it opens you should see that NONE of the services are checked.
Check them all.
Close.
Everything SHOULD suddently spring into action, it certainly did for me.
It appears that some PC config's (all our work ones) need to be configured this way were as otheres set themselves up fine.
Let me know if this works.
Cheers.
Robin
the wierest thing just happened.
i wanted to try your solution, i opened the network connections folder, connected my kjam, and for my surprise it just connected without me doing anything, and i had it sycronised over the USB.
BUT, the wierd thing, is even though i have the connection, and it is syncronizing with my laptop, i don't have the connection icon on my kjam, instead i had this message (attached).
what does this mean?
Don't know, I have never seen this!!!!

the strange things keeps coming...
when i wanted to sync my device again this evening, my whole laptop freezes without any responce.
can someone here tell me what's the problem i'm having here? & how to solve it?
i don't wonna format my PC over this.
thanks all in advance.
I have noticed that the synchronisation only happens properly if I connect to the SAME usb port. If I connect to another port, the laptop picks up the connection but won't synchronise.
Connect to the same USB port and voila!!
Hope that helps.
See my reply earlier.
Each different USB port you connect too AS creates a NEW network with a different number on the end of it.
You have to open the network properties for all the networks (with numbers) you intend suing and make sure all the properties are checked.
I use 3 different USB ports on my laptop depending on wether it is docked at home the office or undocked.
I have had to do this procedure for each port but now they ALL work smoothly every time.
Regards.
Robin
i did connect it to the same USB port, but no luck there, the same problem. i uninstalled the AS twice and re-installed it but it's the same.
hi.
i have tried yr solution by ticking all the boxes in the 'new' network properties. won't work though. the sync. icon shows 'connecting'.

Click to collapse
Strange.
I know a number of people this worked for.
You could/should also try disabling your firewall and giving it another go.

Hey guys,
Ok this sync is really bugging me, first it took me ages to work out why when i plugged it in the connection went green ina ctive sync and said connecting but wasnt working no matter how long i gave it - turns out it was a firewal problem,
but now when i plug in my wizard and the wizard says connecting under active sync but my computer active sync doesnt do anything, i tried switching usbs restarting both PC and Wizard to no avail, i know my PC is seeing somthing there because it says at first (when i plug into new USB port) found device etc etc, but then it installs it as a network connection and trys to aquire an IP/Network address from it!! that doesnt seem right to me!
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Nathan
hmm has anyone with a working active sync noticed if its installed as a network device for you? does the wizard work as a USB - GPRS modem? because that would explain that bit.
Thanks
Hmmm...
I'm gonna guess that no one is responding because you've basically said some things that lead everyone to believe you've not researched your device or problem before starting a new thread about issues that have been covered time and again.
First, by default Windows Mobile 5 (WM5) connects using the Network Connection method. If you want to use the old USB Serial connection your will need to upgrade to an AKU 2.2 or AKU 2.3 Rom.
Second, if you use the search function (see the top center of the screen) you will find numerous threads discussing several issues with ActiveSync.
Newbies are always welcome but you need to at least try to find your answers before just plopping donw a new thread.
Hi,
I did a search, and tried most of the suggestions, but i dont get this AKU2 thing? and couldnt find a deifnition.
but anyway im since broken the phone so thanks anyway guys
Check your vpn option and firewall option. If you using cisco vpn then uncheck "statefull firewall (always on)".
when i end a call on my bluetooth headset the phone comes back on, is there a way to stop it from coming on. also does anyone know where i can find a good app for remote desktop OVER 3G. thanks
do a search youll find the WM6 rdp client i would find a link but im a bit busy right now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298594&highlight=windows+vista+on+athena
i have download it and tried it but it does not let me enter in a port number, and i have more than 1 computer on my home network. the error message i get is "cannot connect. likely reasons are: 1.specified computer name or ip does not exitst. 2.a network error occurred while establishing the connection.
so i am not really sure what to do next. i tried a vnc client but i can make the screen small enough
thanks in advance
Hi XDA developers..
I'm doing some programming and running into a problem...
I'm programming for WM6 for SmartPhone, preferably using .net, either VB.net or C#...
I'm looking for some code that can tell me the real status of activesync...
When I run Activesync, and tries to connect (Using bluetooth) my progam needs to respond to the status... If the connection succeds (Meaning that it could connect to to a Activesync Session on a pc), if synchronization is running, if syncronization is finished or if connection failed (There was no activesync connection available, no PC to connect to)...
So in general: I want the specific status of ActiveSync.
So far the only thing I've come by is the ActiveSyncStatus in the SmartPhone SDK
Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Status.SystemState.ActiveSyncStatus
I've tried setting up a Handler, and it works...
The problem is this crappy SDK doesn't give much response back..
It never returns the Error code (2), as is written on MSDN.
It can only tell give back to responses "None" and "Synchronizing"...
If I try to make a connection and no pc is near, the handler is never triggered. If connection is ok it will change back and forth between "None" and "Synchronizing"... Which is terrible... I could come to the conclusing that upon succesfull connection and sync it would go Synchronizing->None->Synchronizing->None->Synchronizing->None.. I could probably count the time this takes, and check whether it gone through this sequences in a matter of this time, but this is a very unreliable and ugly way to solve this problem.
So I'm hoping someone has any other suggestion, or can lead me to where to look... The current SDK really sucks...
I guess it would be possible to use some native c++ code? But I'm not really into c++, but if you have some code in c++ you are very welcome to post that also...
Any help appriciated!

Hi CyBeRDuDeDK,
Any luck with your earlier question?.
I was trying to do very similar (c# to pass WM_COMMAND to activesync) and trying to research on this topic for few days now, as i want to send the commands only if activesync is not already connected, but there is no way to find out that.
The ActiveSyncStatus is for application level, that is why it shows only 3 values, not at connection level !.
Did someone solve the problem.
I have to recognize if Active Sync connects to a Computer.
Im using a WinCE.NET device and Native C-API. But it should be the same on Windows Mobile.
Thanks in Advance,
ccube
Edit: I finally got it!
Every Window gets the Message 0x3FE (1022) if an Active Sync event occures.
wParam: 1 means connected
wParam: 0 means disconnected
I didnt find any documentation about this, so I'll give no guaranty, that it is working.
I got it working on a Windows.CE 4.x device.
On my Windows Mobile 6.1 Raphael, the Event doesn't occur.
Perhaps I can investigate, hot to get it running on WM6.1 if someone needs it!
greetings,
ccube
Hey guys,
I have an HTC Touch Pro and I start to hate it.
E.g. I want to go online with my Windows 7 notebook without fumbling around with the htc device.
So "Internet Sharing" is not an option. (WMWiFiRouter is a nice idea, but I need my WiFi Connection to connect with my wireless projector, so only Bluetooth DUN is available)
DUN luckily comes with RoMeOS and after pairing the device I get a new modem on COM3.
If I just try to dial my german ISP "O2" *
with the provided initstring and
*9***1#
It doesn't even dial out.
From searching the web I found that the modified dial-string
ATM1L3DT might work.
And it really helps! It connects and says "Checking username and password", but shortly after, it disconnects again.
The Log-File says :
CONNECT
CD-signal was disconnected
CTS or DSR low while processing break of CD-signal
Call Aborted
(The log is in German; I tried to translate)
What can I do to have success with DUN?? I really need it!!
I guess there's something wrong with the init strings. Any other suggestions also welcome...
Hell, I'll even donate something if you get it to work!
