Problem with alarms - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

For some unknown reason my PDA reverted back to some old alarm times, despite being switched off.
it rang at 05:00 05:15 and 05:30 while the settings were set for 09:00 09:15 and 08:30
if i wasn't in such a coma from the night before, the phone would be in pieces now.
can anyone toll me how to fix this problem ?

What model PDA/Phone?
I have an HTC Excalibur & it has a known bug. Maybe other varients of WM do too.

it's an xda2 running wm2003se with a custom extrom and has never had this problem before now.
the info on previous alarm times must be saved on the pda somewhere. anyone know the location ???????????

Maybe you can use some 3rd party application for your alarms like "phone Alarm" or SPB world clock

Alarm issues - anyone had this one?

This morning at 6.45am noticed that my 6am alarm didn't go off. Turned on pocketPC expecting my 6am alarm to go off as this used to happen on my old pocketPC. It didn't go off but at 7am on the dot, the pocketPC wakes up and sounds my 6am alarm!! What's that all about?
It wasn't a time zone thing either, my time tab was still set to Home and GMT (I'm in the UK) and I've never set it to away.
When I checked on the notifications message list that looked fine also.
Has anybody else experienced this problem? Any fix?
Cheers
You can try the alarmfix from spb pocket tips&tricks

Cheers, I'll give that a try as well as using my old fashioned alarm clock as well, just in case.
If Microsoft are reading this, come on, a PDA where you can't rely on it to ring at the correct time or at all for that matter. Shocking.
I have the same problem.
SPB tweak not help at all.

Another Alarm question--alarm goes off randomly

Hello,
I used to have an alarm clock set for 9.25am. I don't anymore. 9.25am appears NOWHERE in WM5 alarm settings. However every day at 9.25am my alarm goes off.
Is there a way to fix this without doing a hard reset? I tried searching the forum but wasn't able to find an answer.
I have an MDA with latest ROM from T-mobile's website.
Thanks!
You need to get the check notifications program.
Theres probably a stray entry in the notifications dB that makes your alarm go off.
Its not available on the developers website anymore, but am sure some kind sole will post it on here for you.

You have my sincerest sympathies. My Alpine model has the fun habit of doing the same thing... at 5:30 in the morning. I have absolutely no idea why it does this at seemingly random intervals (but always at the same time). If it carries on for much longer I'l have to hard-reset. But I've spent so much time and energy customising my Alpine and I will lose everything.

Thank matt1971!
I have used the checknotifications program and was able to remove the 9.25am alarm issue.
Even though this program clearly states that it works only on 2003 OS, I ran it on WM5 and it worked fine.

so after I removed all 9.25am references with CheckNotifications, the alarm still went off today.
Any further suggestions how to rid of this annoying issue?
Same issue
I am having the same issue as well at 6 am, which I set a few weeks ago to pick someone up at the airport. I then changed the clock for that particular alarm setting back to my normal time, 10 am. Now it goes off at 6 and 10.
One other irritating thing I noticed... my "5"minute snooze is only 1 minute.
So I am hoping that the alarm creates little registry values that I can find and destroy! lol
I'll get back if I find anything

No more notifications or reminders

I have an O2 xda Neo (PM300) running Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC.
All of a sudden I noticed I no longer receive notifications or reminders of appointments or tasks on my "today" page nor any audible sounds. Even though I have:
1. Enabled sounds for reminders in "sounds & Notifications"
2.checked the "display message on screen" and "play sound" boxes in the "notifications" submenu
3.Checked the "set reminders for new items" box in the "appointments" sub menu in "options" in "calendar" (and done the same for "tasks"
My clock is correct. I have soft reset the unit a few times, I have set sample appt's and tasks and attempted to set a reminder for 5 minutes prior just to test and still nothing...
It was working fine upto maybe a couple weeks ago and just stopped working one day. I am at a loss, as the sheduling/task/appoitntment aspect is the main reason for me going the pocket pc route.
Now, I have no advance warning of tasks or appt's other than the calendar displaying the next few or so the day of or day before.
Very frustrating!
Look for Check Notifications ScaryBear Software. This program might be you solution
I had the same problem this week.
In my case it was either the (failed) installation of pocket clock or pocket max phone alarm that did it.
I loaded a previous week's sprite back-up (program part only) and that fixed the problem. I have not tried to reinstall pocket max phone alarm.
Will not reinstall pocket clock because that did not work anyways.

I sync'd my data, did a hard memory reset, deleted that ActiveSync partnership, created a new partnership, sync'd all my data back onto my handheld and it seems to be working again!

I have exactly the same problem - but unfortunately cannot remember when it showed up the first time. I do not want to try a hard reset, also checking pocketmax seems that they only advise to do a lot of reinstallations. And I worry the problem will show up again later as I want to continue using phone alarm. I rather would like to change registry entries.
- Anybody has some idea what to change?
- I found an empty string value WAVEFILE in HKKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\calendar\reminder - can anybody tell me their value here
- same empty value is in HKKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tasks\reminder
Thanks Hase01
I had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago on my JAMin - suddenly noticed that I had not been receiving reminders/notifications.
I had not installed any new software, etc., to cause this, I had simply been using the PDA in the same manner as for the preceeding weeks/months.
Hase01, unfortunately the way I fixed it was with a hard reset. Why do you not want to try this? I found that once the reset had been done, it took all of 5-10 minutes to reload all the files and to reinstall the software I had previously been running. It's not that big a deal......

I am not a friend of hard resets, that's why I am hesitating. And I am not sure how far I have to go back, as I was in vacation for some time and only afterwards started missing the reminders.
Could you do me a favor and let me know your registry settings for

- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Sounds
- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Defaults
Do you use phone alarm?
Thanks in advance

Just download my Free Task Manager found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104
1) Launch it on your pocket pc
2) Select Notifications tab
3) First try to remove duplicates
4) Try to remove SCRIPT:0x000...
If it still doesn't work, select all of them and disable them.
Do a soft reset and create a new notification, if it works, I suggest you to enable only the necessary notifications, so those like:
CALENDAR.EXE
\Windows\calupd.exe
replog.exe
calnot.exe
clocknot.exe
and delete all [none] notifications

Glad to hear that... Anyway, this is another solution that works.
One of my colleagues had the same problem, about 570 notifications. We tried first to remove duplicates and SCRIP:0x000 events, but the problem remained.
After the remove he still had more than 400 notifications. So I selected them all and disabled them via TM. After soft reset we created a test notification and it worked. So as I mentioned in my previous post, we enabled back the needed notifications and we removed the rest. Now everything is fine.
I have noticed that most of the time, this problem appears when you synchronize your calendar with multiple pc's.

The smart thing with the alarmtoday solution was that I did not need to take care about notifications, deletions etc. I just installed AT and all notifications came back. And btw, I usually sync only with one PC, seem to be a WM5 problem.

I was almost in my bed!
1) Try to disable all notifications (don't worry, they are stored in the registry, so you won't lose any of them, except if you do a hard reset, or delete the reg entries).
2) Soft reset and make a test
3) if it works, just enable the notifications as mentioned in my first post until the problem is back (or not).

By disabling all entries, it's like cleaning the notifications database. So it will surely solve your problem (temporary anyway).

I tried to use you TM on my WM2003 SE ppc as I always do before I run a new program on my Qtek S200 (it's nearly impossible to deinstall a program only manual deletion of all files works). Unfortunately it does not run on my IPAQ. It starts but dies after 0.5 secs. Did you ever had this problem?

You're not the first one telling me this. I don't know why it doesn't work on IPAQ with WM2003SE.
But, you can launch it on your Qtek s200 without any doubt. I already tested it myself on Qtek 2020, 9090, 9100, Mitac Scoter A701 and HTC P3600 without any problem found.

I got the notifications back. I think it was basically repaired by installing alarmtoday again from backup. I think the problem could have been caused by the new sktools version. Strange.
B.t.w. do you need a beta tester for oyur TM on IPAQ. Then just sent me a pm

Ok. I have the same problem recently.. unsure what is the problem, but it seems that softreset *cause* (not solve) the problem, some what.. during my testing.
Anyway, I tried a few solutions listed, and the easy one is to use the TaskManager (freeware) to find the notification with 'Status' is in 'signalled'. These are passed notifications and it seems that these are causing the problem. As soon as I've removed them, the problem seems to have solved.
Then, I tested it again, by removing the 'Init_tray' from the startup and do a softreset. I tried it again, and it doesn't work. I check again on Task Manager, those 'signalled' stuff are back.

TP2 alarm problem

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with the alarm on my TP2.
Once I set an alarm on it, and next day change the time or turrn the alarm off, the original alarm still continues to sound.
For eg:
Day 0 - I set alarm for 7 am for Day 1 - it will ring at 7 am
Day 1 - at night I change the alarm to say 715 am - it will ring both at 7 am and 715 am on Day 2
Day 2 - say I disable all alarms - on Day 3 it will still ring both on 7 am and 715 am (and hence spoil my weekend)
has anyone else also encountered this???
Pls help.
I am using unbranded TP2 (Singapore)
ROM 1.19.707.2 (51489) WWE (Even after upgrading the ROM to new SEA the problem persists)
Please help.
Exactly what I was going to create a thread about today!
This is doing my head in. I have to be up all week at 4:15am, so I set my alarm for 7 days. At the weekend, I'm off work, so I turn them off. Low and behold, at 4:15am on Saturday morning I'm awoken by the same alarms.
I used to know of a program or method where you could see a queue of notifications, and you could delete them if you had invalid entries, but I've forgotten it now. I think the TP2 may be making invalid repeat entries to this queue that are not affected by turning alarms on/off in the normal way.
1:55am
Hi all
I am using Klaxon which does not seem to have this problem as it always uses the same WM alarm. However, I don't know whether or not it's related but my phone frequently crashes at 1:55am, hence no alarm. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Alarm problems
I haven an unbranded TP2 and have the same problems for couple of weeks now... I've tried everything. Forst I've written to HTC but they didn't came up with an answer other than trying to keep the phone as clean as possible. They told me it's not a known issue... as while reading through different forums I didn't feel to bee alone !
Reading through the net told me that if you use 3rd party software the problem would be solved, so I bought G-alarm wich seemed to be the best available porgram. It went well for 2-3 weeks when there again my phone missed an alarm in the morning. The alarms do sound the moment I turn the phone on.
I read through the net again to find that the problem would could be due to a notification que wich is too long... I bought another piece of software, SkTools that can clean the notification que and be set to do so daily on automated basis. It went well for 1 week again... Yesterday and today the phone skipped again the wakeup alarms...
Writing to HTC many times didn't help so this afternoon I will try to flash my phone and try the ROM update wich is available on the HTC site. I'm sure the problem will be cured for a couple of weeks... but after? I'll let you guys know...

Sorry, no solution, but why not file a bug report with HTC or Microsoft?
If we all just keep going around the issues, software makers will never find out about the problems or fixe them.
Just an idea
I did already twice. only answer they gave was to hard reset the device an install no other software... that's why I by one of the world's most advanced phones? I don't think so. They keep telling me it is not a known issue... ?
As dommers and vasra tried the ROM update and it didn't work I'm doubting to go through the pain?
Does any of you have very regular (10 times a day) an error on the opera9.exe file?
Can you guys tell me wich 3rd party software is installed to see if it maybe is something wich is screwed up by 3rd party installation?
Does anybody know if the problem is known in a custom 6.5 rom as I would try one of those? In that case wich is the best and most stable available?
Thx
I think it has to be an HTC / TFO issue...my Kaiser has no issues and is same software/notification queues..i have found HTC to be very arrogant on the phone..but i will log a few calls with them ..maybe you guys could too...and they may start to look at it..
i spoke to HTC - they were ,quite frankly, useless. I informed them of the problem and after going through a load of useless checks that the alarm was on they said they would put feedback down but he wasn't sure it would get to the developers. Complete waste of time. Makes me think of buying an iphone. At least that works. grr...
Best Alarm App on Earth: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=download
use windows alarm not touchflo 3d
hi guys, the problem is that you use touchflo 3d's alarm setting, right?
let me tell you, touchflo 3d alarm doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so just save your time, dont use it, it's useless,i dont know what is problem with rom designers.
The real working alarm is windows own one,go to settings---sounds and notifications---notifications---events----(pull down)reminder.
At last,if you want to use your own mp3 music as alarm sound, pls create \Storage card\My documents, copy all your mp3 into My documents folder.

My alarm (set under TF3D) works great.
You are lucky you don't have an iphone, that damn thing used to make me late all the time.
I had this problem with my kaiser.
After a week that I go crazy, I founded that the problem caused by an early version or iGo8.
Are you using iGo8?
If yes, update it.
Custom ROMs
The problem also occurs in all custom ROMs...I have tried them all...NRG, RoMeOS, Miri etc.
I'm pretty sure this is a Windows issue. I used to see it on my Titan, particularly when I would change time zones.
What I would do on the Titan was to use Memaid to remove the classic time based notifications (which are your alarm settings), and then regenerate them. Worked like a charm!
if you use sk tools to clear notifications que automatically at 00:30, that should solve the problem

weather widget - weird behavior

Hi All.
During the last few days I have a weird behavior for the weather widget in HTC sense (WinMo6.5) - the original weather screen that comes with htc sense on winmo 6.5.
I added some cities to it's list (using weather city editor).
Up until a few days ago - these cities were updated just fine.
During the last few days, when I have these cities in the list of cities displayed,
I get a message that a connection error occurred, and they're data is not shown.
When I remove these cities, everything works just fine, and update is performed without any error.
Again - just to emphasize the point - I have not added new cities recently.
I read somewhere (on an Android forum discussing a problem close to mine)
that there might be some cache for the htc sense somewhere and ddeleting it resolved the problem there.
Is there such a cache on the WinMo version ?
If so - where is it ? And - will this help here too ?
(I also removed the Weather.ServerURLOverride - so it updates from the htc.accuweather directly)
Anyone else had this problem ?
Thanks
Some more findings
So I did a little test, and drove to one of the cities I added,
just to see if when it is detected as the "Current location" the weather data appears.
and - as it seems - as the "Current location" the weather data was retrieved without problem.
And when set as an additional city - still nothing.
So -
anyone ?
Thanks.
Same with me
I had the same problem at the beginning of this year.
This week it started again.
It affects only the manually added locations. I'm sick of doing again a complete setup, to figure out where the problem is, but I guess, that Accuweather has changed the location codes.
If anyone has a proper solution - well it would be helpfull.

I tried hard-reset and adding the cities again.
I tried it on my brother's device (He has an HD2 as well) that never had any manually added cities - and it occurred in these cases as well.
So I could only conclude that this is a general issue and not because of something on my device.
(And probably not on yours as well)
I'm experiencing this same issue. It also occurred with me last year, when apparently the Conflipper or Not2Advanced (the default on our HD2's, I believe) weather server went down. At the time, I used JVH's Weather City Editor app to input a new, custom server (accuweather) and that seemed to solve the problem then. You might try this approach, and see what happens.
I had the same Problems (laready also in January 2012 and last year).
After changing the server to default, all citiesbut the manally added were updated. I found this solution at (German language):
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/htc_hd2_forum/235696-htc_hd_2_wetter_kommt_mehr-2.html#post1936826
Today I found at (also german language):
http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-touch-dual/41698-mal-wetter.html
I found this URL
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=EUR|DE|GM001|Konstanz
for manually added cities. There you have set the city after "locCode=" accordingly.
Now the weather update is working again for my manually added home town and for other cities as well.

I had the same Problems (laready also in January 2012 and last year).
After changing the server to default, all citiesbut the manally added were updated. I found this solution at (German language):
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/htc_hd2_forum/235696-htc_hd_2_wetter_kommt_mehr-2.html#post1936826
Today I found at (also german language):
http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-touch-dual/41698-mal-wetter.html
I found this URL
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=EUR|DE|GM001|Konstanz
for manually added cities. There you have set the city after "locCode=" accordingly.
Now the weather update is working again for my manually added home town and for other cities as well.

Hi all
I forgot to mention, that I added the server in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.ServerURLOverride
Good luck

Great !!
Thanks.
I knew about the URL
Code:
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=
and I have tried setting it in the Weather.ServerURLOverride in the registry, but it didnt help.
In one of your linked posts - they added
Code:
%25ls
at the end of this URL, and this had resolved the problem.
So - the entry in the registry should be:
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.ServerURLOverride=http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=%25ls
where ls = <lower case L>s, and !not! <Uppercase I>s
Som30ne. You're brilliant. Thanks.
Tried but put a small u 1st time and a 1 for the l the second (duh) but 3rd time lucky.
What I don't understand is that this same error (ie added locations stop updating) has occured at least 3 times in the last 6 months and it takes ages to troll around the site to find the fix. The fix seems to be different Registry entries each time. Do Accuweather keep changing something (and if so, do they document it somewhere so we plebs can find it and change it before the fact) or what? Could a sticky maybe be posted telling everyone what the "current reg entries" need to be so next time, one goes to the sticky and updates?
Please. Someone.....
