Text messaging over Wifi - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Does anyone know of a program that would allow me to send text messages to phones (any carrier) from an application? I have heard it mentioned in posts before, but no one has ever mentioned the applications name. This would save me the hassle of having to navigate to the carriers site in PIE.
My company has disabled text messaging because of the cost but does not care about messaging if it is free.
Merry Christmas,
Jared

You have to specify if you are prepared to pay for these text messages or not. Texts cost money. Hence you're going to pay, either in service or adverts.
Is data bandwidth an issue?

Well, I was hoping that there would be a program that simply acted as an interface with the carriers website. For example, teh program would allow me to send a text from my cingular phone through the interface on sprints website. Because I am using wifi for my data connection, there would be no charge. The only charge would be to the person recieving teh text (if applicable).
Sorry for not clarifying.
Jared

You can send an email to the phonenumber (at) thecarrieremail.com and it'll get sent to their phone as a text message for free.
For example:
T-Mobile: [email protected]
Virgin Mobile: [email protected]
Cingular: [email protected]
Sprint: [email protected]
Verizon: [email protected]
Nextel: [email protected]
You can also do a [email protected] and they will match the number to the carrier and send the text message. Pretty nice if you don't know the carrier of a particular number or don't want to have to remember the email addresses. I used to do this for Tmobile all of the time because receiving text messages was free. I'm still looking for a way to get free incoming text messages. I still use this for free outgoing text messages though.

Thank you
Thank you ver much.

nice doc_lee.. should be a sticky

Hate to bring an old topic back up, but does this method still work? Cingular has changed to AT&T now, so i figured that their e-mail address would change...

Has anyone seen the program?
There is a program that does all that for you floating around. You just type the text and the phone number, and it converts it to that e-mail you mentioned earlier. I read about it, but it was an old post in the beta, but I can't find the final. Wonder if anyone knows if ever got finished by anyone. Biggest problem with e-mail to text, when I do that, it is slow to get there.

MMS For Australia (Telstra/Optus)

I want to use EzWAP2.5 but i cannot get the settings for Telstra (AU) to allow me to Recieve/Send MMS messages. I would also like to obtain the settings for Optus (AU) as my fiance has a o2 on Optus. If anyone can help us, that would be good.
Why don't you call telstra 1800636785 for MMS & GPRS setting?
My eng is bad so I waitting for you to get the answer and post it there
The best thing would be to call Telstra so they can send the setting via SMS and you can install it on your phone!
For optus, go to the following link and enter your phone model and number and they send the sms to your phone! So you could try that

I need contact with users os XDA in LIMA - PERU, with the operator TIM
I'm using an O2 Atom with Claro
I need to learn how to configure MMS and GPRS, that the only thing missing, everything else working OK.
Hi, I'm using HTC 8525 Hermes with Claro and Movistar, Works fine.
Regards.
i am in ayacucho, peru with movistar and text works, i choose not to use my att sim card cause of the cost rates, but if i want mms to work i would have to get the settings from movistar, but i havent had the need to mms from the tilt so i email when i get a chance. thus mms not work on it yet
edit
i called movistar customer service and they tell me that i need a user name and password to send mms, or log on to internet. and i would have to go to a movistar store to get that info, but like i said, have not seem the need for it at the moment and have been visiting for a month and will be here for 2 more

Can send but not recieve UK T-Mobile email on unlocked Orange SPV M1000

I have an Orange SPV M1000 which Ihave unlocked using the excellent xda all unlocker. I am now using it with a new PAYG sim only T-Mobile sim card with web&walk. T-Mobile have sent the apropriate settings for internet & email to the phone which they see as a MDA 2.
I can get internet ok & also send out emails using an address from my NTL account but cannot receive any. T-Mobile bave enableled email for my account. I do not have an icon any where for email & so am using the inbox to send new emails out & have assumed that new emails would come in the same way for the same address. Do I need to modify the any of the settings that T-Moble have sent me i.e.
incoming email = pop.ntlworld.com
Anyone please

Help with MMS on Trinity (Vodafone UK)?

Hi there,
I've recently switched to a Trinity after my uninsured Touch Pro got stolen, and having problems with MMS. I'm on Vodafone UK, and my settings are:
Server Name: Contract MMS
Gateway: 212.183.137.012
Port number: 8799
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/
Connect via: The Internet
Sending size limitation: 300K
WAP version: WAP 2.0
The phone actually receives the message headers (although seemingly sometimes not until a few days after they are sent), so I can see that I have received an MMS, who it's from and the subject, but the content just won't download. Also if I reject it it just keeps on coming back, as does also if I delete it.
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi there,
maybe you should download the HTC Network wizard and select the UK Vodafone option. After a soft reset it will reinstall the SMS/MMS settings for vodafone. It's worth a try and at least you'll have a handy tool if you travel in Europe and want to change sim cards. Best of luck.
Derek.

I'm a bit late responding, but just to say that that did the trick, many thanks indeed
