Increase screen resolution on the MDA? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi
I've been reading over the forums for a bit now, checking up on how to increase the screen res of my MDA. I pulled down the ozVga app and ran that, but that didn't seem to work for me, it just made some of my fonts bigger, but the screen size stayed the same.
I also tried going into the Registry with Total Commander but I don't seem to have the HKLM\Drivers\Display\GWE folder where you can modify the LogicalPixels setting manually. I have a CxScreen and a CyScreen that had 240 and 320 as values. I tried updating those to 480 and 640, but after a soft reset nothing happened.
Any thoughts on how I can accomplish a higher screen res?
Model No: WIZA200
ROM Version 2.26.10.2 WWE
Thanks

You can't increase screen resolution, the physical size is 320x240. You can remove pixels and give the appearance of a larger screen at the expense of being able to read anything on it but it takes more than a couple of registry settings. A lot more. Check out http://nyditot.com/Home.asp which does what I described above. Last time I checked it sort of worked on a wizard but had a tendency to lock mine solid.

Resize menubar in jasjar?

Is there a reg key to reduce the size of the sip panel/menubar in the jasjar
tia
ed
In short....No.
You could have a go with the VGA hack though, that'd do the trick...?
SPB Tips and Tricks has this as an option, it is not free though.
found this
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip|MenuBarHeight
changing the dword does nothing though!
The SIP panel is one size only. You can't resize it - it would leave holes on the sides. The only way is if you run your device at VGA resolution, which makes EVERYTHING smaller.
The sizes in the top and bottom are similarly hard coded in Shell.exe. The devices are supposed to look a certain way on set resolutions. It's not like the menubars in Windows that you can reduce or enlarge, unfortunately.
It is sad, though, so lose so much potential space on the screen. That is why some people prefer to run VGA devices in the hacked VGA modes.

Increase the sensitivity of Touch Screen

I just came across this tweak on this website:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/Minimize_tapping_Pressure
I tried it and it works great. I now use less pressure on the screen.
What ever you do, don’t set the value below the default of 7526. If you do, you may set it too low, the sensitivity will be too low and you will have to perform a Hard reset.
Here is the tweak from the website listed above:
Minimize Pressure when Tapping the screen
Ever got used to tapping without screen protectors and suddenly you put some screen protector and have a pecuilar feeling (some-what like tapping harder than u normally do) due to the increase thickness of the protector?
Well i have gone to that and finally ive done some simple tweaks to my xda mini.
I also figure out this could lessen normal wear and tear(scratching of protectors/PDA screens) since lesser pressure is applied to Tap the screen
here's what i did..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\Touch
If not there try here:
HKLM\Drivers\Touchpanel\ Pressure Threshold
or find 'Threshold'
Change the value of Pressure Threshold.(INCREASE value ONLY!!!)
what i did is set the value at 11880.
i tried doubling the default value. until i have reached my desired setting.
now,its like tapping soflty without having a feeling that i have screen protector. Also less stress on the stylus and screen and faster tapping.
WARNING: Only INCREASE THE VALUE BUT NEVER THE DECREASE THE DEFAULT VALUE.
Lowering the value of Pressure Threshold means you need to apply more pressure in tapping than you normally do.
ive tried this and when i soft reset, the screen won't react even if i apply deep pressure in tapping so i needed to do a HARD Reset!!!
So don't ever think of lowering the value, JUST INCREASE but NEVER LOWER!!
Tweak open for comments.
thanks...
Thanks, this tweak worked wonderfully!
I dont use a screen protector (for now at least) and I noticed an improvement in sensitivity as well when I set it to 11880.

I posted a thread about this before. Nobody answered but I finally found the answer on my own. What you have to do is to make sure you have a storage card and put a file called welcome.not in the root of it. There doesn't have to be anything in it, you can just open notepad and save the blank file with that name. That tells the device to skip the whole welcome bit with the touch screen calibration and all that.
I may not have the name exactly right, it's been several months. But if you do a search on threads started by me you can probably find it.
i saw this in another link and they said to put it at 240, i listened and i had to hard reset. thank you for clearing things up buddy
hey, the link for the program is bad i was wondering if any one could post the a link for it i have looked everywhere. I have a prob. alighning screen and would like to see if changing the sensitivity will somehow help.
Use Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool. Saves you a ton of brainwork, since it's just doing the registry edits for you. Can also be used to tune your Bluetooth Stereo setup, and a host of "basic" UI modifications.
Hi all at this forum

Increase the sensitivity of Touch Screen
I just came across this tweak on this website:

dont work anymore...
Has anybody got an actial link???
And... Does this work for a samsung i900?
With regards

Works great for me - thanks colouro
For the max senstivity set both fingerpressure and threshold to -1 or FFFFFFFF in Hex..

Better touch screen sensitive

i try:
regedit()
HKLM/Drivers/TouchPanel - PressureThreshold to 80866
HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings - FingerPressure to 1
Soft-Reset
It's the same of DIAMOND
I think this improve the speed reaction of touch screen
Are you really so unhappy with the standard settings? I have no problems with the response of my display, but maybe I'm just pressing hard enough .
This is a good CAB, worth a try,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=149174&d=1232643110
Got it from here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469865
It is just a reg tweak and easily uninstallable.
I like it.
I'm still curious about what the registry change is.
On my Diamond I set Finger Pressure and Pressure Treshold to 0 for best sensitivity. For the Xperia to be max sensitive I had to set 99999 to both Finger Pressure and Pressure Treshold.
So, what is the setting with the Blackstone?
Just do the screen calibration as gently as possible, that way you'll get a very responsive screen

I know about that, I just want to know the optimal values so I can get it right every time with a minimum of fuss.

You can also adjust the threshhold using HD Tweak saves changing the registry
I have both set to 0 and my screen feels very responsive.

Way to alter menu sizes...?

Hi all,
I'm not sure what its called, but you know the context menus that come up basically whenever you hold your pointer over something for a while? It annoys me with the size they are in wm6.5. I love the speed of wm6.5 (tried both xplode's r7 (about to install 7.1...) and swampy's rls) but it really annoys me that they've made everything so big. Seems to take twice as long to do simple things now because now you have to scroll down menus to find what you're looking for. Is there anyway to bring this back to the good old "classic" sizes? I can't seem to find an option anywhere... and I realise loading a skinning app is just going to slow the OS down making the whole upgrade to 6.5 kinda pointless.
Also, does anyone know a way to speed up the actual time taken to register a tap and hold command? So that we don't have to spend as long to bring up the context menus?
Thanks in advance~

that's a lot of questions. let me start with saying that i can not guarantee you, that the reg tweaks work. i found them for different devices and checked both my devices and didn't have the reg keys in there. so i don't knoiw if it helps you. Maybe, if i find out more, i'll post it later:
1. The size of the context and softkey menus:
a. the easiest way to influence the size and look of those menus would be, installing another theme. not just the color will change, but also the entire looks, so if you have a .tsk theme, copy it to the device and activate it, you will see it changed.
b. regitry tweak:
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\Popfnt\
there should be two dword values that you can change to whatever you like.
ht=height is default set to 1000
wt=width is default set to 700
2. a skinning app is gonna slow down the os
- true, with wm6.5 there is really no need for anything else to make the graphics any nicer
3. tap and hold time:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay
right-click, select properties, and enter a value from zero to 999 milliseconds
if that value, does not exist, create it (string value)
if those values didn't work, you should try out advanced config, which can be downloaded here: http://www.pocketpc.ch/news/42529-freeware-advanced-config-3-0-a.html
there you have more than 200 tweaks for the os and don't need to search the registry for any values.
first off, a big thank you for the speediness of your reply.
i tried out the other tsk files i have... but unfortunately i don't have any older ones from wm5/6, only the newer 6.5 ones. they didn't seem to make much difference in size of anything... only the actual colour/font schemes. if you have any older tsk files that you wouldn't mind uploading, that'd be much appreciated as something to try.
the softkeys aren't so much an issue - i've got wisbar to disable them (yes yes, i know wisbar is a skinning app... but i prefer a nice cascading start menu to something i need to fumble through to find stuff any day) - its more the context menus that are annoying me.
the registry edit is interesting. changing the height and width actually also changes the zoom on the font size... i'm not sure how this is being calculated, but the font is clearly getting smaller the smaller you set the dimensions. it seems like its taking a predefined box with the text designed to take up a predefined percentage of it and then letting you put in the dimensions of the box... basically so that no matter what numbers you plug in, you'll always have the rather annoying amount of space being wasted between items in the context menus. though all that said and done, 750 for height and 350 for width are far more workable than the previous settings. more than legible too imo~
the tap and hold time tweak worked wonderfully
thanks again~
Tap and Hold time delay Setting
I found your post ref to Tap and Hold delays. I tried this Tap and Hold setting you said worked on your phone (see below) I tried it as shown below on a HTC wm 6.5 HTC pure(diamond2), and did not see a change, were you able to shorten the delay? Is that done with a String? or Dword?
3. tap and hold time:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay
right-click, select properties, and enter a value from zero to 999 milliseconds
if that value, does not exist, create it (string value).
I have spent hours searching the registry for a solution
it was a dword iirc... tbh, this hasn't been so much of an issue for me with the newer releases so i haven't bothered so much.

If you still need themes for wm6.1, try http://www.wm6themes.com/
I use one from that site on my BA, but since i don't have wm6.5 installed right now, i can't tell you whether it'll help in your situation or not.

Resolution aware

hi,
i have develope a application for years (from evc3 -> evc4 -> VS 2005). now i have to display a picture on the screen using alphablend. unfortunatelly, the alphablend funktion is not resolution aware. so i wanted to get the screen resolution to decide if i have to double the height and the width. i tried GetSystemMetrics(SM_CXSCREEN), but i got the wrong result. instead of 480 x 800 i got 240 x 400. is there an easy way to get the real screen resolution? i don't want to turn off the whole resolution aware feature and recalculate everything.

nobody knows it???
Yes - but overseen here.
Your Device has 192 DPI and the standard assumption of system is therefore wrong -because it isn' aware of the DPI.So you have to change your app to HIGH_RES_AWARE - here you go:
