HSDPA Support - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Does the device require upgrade before supporting HSDPA?

I think it's just a case of asking your network provider to activate hsdpa on your account.

This is my understanding of HSDPA on Hermes devices:
There is a program in your windows folder called "SetHSDPA.exe" If your provider doesn't have HSDPA enabled by default, you need to place the following shortcut into your startup folder:
"\windows\setHSDPA.exe" /Enable
There is another file in your windows directory called preconfig.txt that will tell you whether or not your operator has already enabled HSDPA on your device.

connecting to net problem

why can't i connect to the net with my Exec?
it comes up with a box from the (G and U symbol) stating " The current connection cannot be used for a your request. Please end the current connection and try again"
whats all that about?
kindest regards,
bump
What network is it on?
Primarily I'd check with your serivec provider to check that GPRS/UTMS and MMS has been provisioned on the account and then check the settings.
if it has been provisioned on your account and still cannot connect, you may have to get the custom cab file to auto configure your communication settings. the cab file might be in your extended rom, or you may get a new one from O2.
in effect it will configure for you the mms, gprs, umts, wap and other related settings for accessing the web once your account is enabled.
each is unique to the service provider, so you may not have the correct settings.
im on O2....where can i get the cab file for O2?
thanks
try o2, I read they provide awesome support!
if you have the exec, get total commander, browse to \extended_rom\ and install it again manually from th4e device.
o2 may have an updated copy.

Disable GPRS and UTMS?

How can I disable GPRS and UTMS? I mean realy disable, so I cannot use it anymore. (or someone else)
Option 1: Ask your service provider to disable Data on your account,
Option 2: Delete the settings and don't lend your device to anyone,
Option 3: Use a different device.
Why would you want to permanently disable GPRS and UMTS on a device which has those as one of its selling points?

registry MOD that don't work on TyTN

i found that some cool edits cannot be used on tytn:
-changing the "G" for gprs with the "E" don't work because the string doesn't exist, and if i create it it doesn't work anyway
-moving the default location for the rings: even if i redirect to the microSD the phone don't look at the new folder even after a soft reset
i also found that the phone sometimes don't change to umts from the gprs as soon as the umts is available. i must switch off than on the phone antenna...
any solutions? thanks

Network Configuration Settings

Is there any way to get latest network configuration settings cab coz my rom don't have it. Newer roms have it but they are slower than this one so I don't want to use new rom. I found one on the internet, but that file is from 2007.
Thanx
what do you mean network config ?
as in gprs and mms settings?
if so then unless your operator have a habbit of
changing their settings often leaving all their
customers fustrated i daresay that using a 2007 would be
acceptable
I was thinking on Network Wizard, who starts anytime I reset my device coz there is no settings for my provider (which is new and operate about year in my country)... I found new setting in some other new rom but that rom is slower much more than this one that I use. So I need external cab with latest settings to install. I have a Kaiser.
Thanx
P.S. I check it again and that is a windows called Connection Setup where is message that my operator don't exist in database and to ask operator for connection settings. In new rom this thing automatic recognize my operater but in this older faster rom i don't have latest version and there is no matching in database
if your operator support mms and gprs there are settings
non wm phones use the same settings as wm phones
even if the users never see the settings
so if they support gprs and mms there are settings
you can use

Automatic Network settings confuguration when SIM card changed
Does the Wizard for Kaiser also work on Fuze?
I have a Fuze and also the HTC MAX 4G - when I switch SIM card on 4G - it automatically notifies me that my SIM card does not match the Operator Settings and if I want to change settings automatically - if I say "Yes" it reconfigures the settings automatically and all works perfect.
However if I do same on Fuze - change the SIM from AT&T to Swisscom - it will not aquire th esettings - I have to do it manually, which means I have to have these written down.
I wonder if there is a setting to enable th eaouto network configurator as MAX 4G and Fuze both use WM6.1 and are made by HTC.
im guessing that the network wizard is OS dependant - EG if you have an xperia wm6.1 then it will work on kaiser 6.1.
I am looking for a cab for HTC Connection Setup 1.5.34057.2. I've been all over this forum and can't find it. I might have to go back to the one from the Kaiser.

[Q] GPRS / MMS settings

Hi,
My service operator is not same as my network operator I must manually configure GPRS/MMS settings to my mobile. A guess my operator is called like "virtual operators" or "service operators" and they don't have own network.
I was wondering that could some one know are GPRS / MMS settings for different operators inside the firmware. Or how device can have settings automatically (depending of operator). I mean that if I use SIM card from my network operator settings are automatically, but not for my own subscription which is from virtual operator.
If these settings are in firmware I should be able to modify these settings. My target is that when I reset my mobile I can have my own operator settings automatically.
Does someone know the facts for this.
Regards,
Leluloota
