VPN Connection locks up firewall - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

it might be coincidence but i have locked up our office firewall/router (snapgear) twice when trying to make a VPN (PPTP) connection to it - firewall needed a power cycle hard reset. works fine with PC connections.
anybody else had a similar problem?

Problem with reconnecting with GPRS

I find that if I leave a GPRS connection on when I'm finished accessing the internet and it gets disconnected because of network problems, that I have to soft-reset the machine to reconnect. Manually disconnecting after each session solves the problem but makes GPRS less always-on. Though I've found GPRS rarely keeps the connection for long periods. Anybody else come across this problem?
BTW I'm using PPC 2002
Re-connecting GPRS
I find the same issue. When connected to a GPRS session and I either make or receive a call I lose the GPRS connection but need to do a soft boot before re-establishing a GPRS session. I have reied everything but no joy. I think a ROM upgtade is due in Jan but not sure if this will address this problem. Let me know if you have solve it.

VPN via GPRS woes..

I'm trying to establish a VPN (PPTP) connection to my office via GPRS, without any success. When I click to activate the VPN connection, a GPRS connection is established, then it tries to connect to the VPN address (203.xxx.xxx.xxx), after about 30 secs it comes up with the following message:
"VPN server problems. Verify your username and password, and try again. If the problem continues, turn the device off and try again."
I've turned the device off and tried again, to no avail.
I've also done a search on the forum and notice some users having similar problems but no solution has been posted yet. So this is a bump for all of us who are having this VPN probs.... BUMP!
Hi,
I am facing the same problem. Initially, I thought that my Telco was blocking VPN traffic. I have tried on two different telco network and none worked. Has anyone got VPN working before? If so how? FYI, I am trying to VPN into an MS ISA box running PPTP CHAP2. My VPN is working because user on landline dailup or broadband can get connection without problems.

VPN using L2TP and certificate?

Did anybody ever try to conect to a MS 2003 VPN-Server via L2TP, authenticated by a certificate? I can't understand why they don't fix that issue? Nobody seemed to have a try except NamCE and me (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28706).
For me it never worked. I tried the two German T-Mobile Roms and now the i-mate 1.30.76. It's everytime the same: VPN connection bubble pops up for a second and then issues an error "VPN Server Problems". But the damn device never even tries to send a real Packet to the VPN server!!! Of course i checked GPRS or WiFi connection was set up successfully before.
There is only one Exception: If i deactivate the Dialer Skin it works - but only once after soft reset.
L2TP VPN would be great for professional use of the device in enterprise enviromnemt....
Any idea?

L2TP/IPSec VPN? Getting nowhere fast on the Wizard forum so thought I would try here

Help.......
I am not getting any help on the Wizard forum so I thought I would post here in an attempt to find someone who can shed some light on what I am experiencing with my HTC Wizard running WM6 and L2TP/IPSec VPN over Wireless.
First off - L2TP/IPSec VPN works flawlessly with the last WM5 ROM from QTEK. Ever since I installed WM6 on my Wizard I have had a problem with L2TP/IPsec VPN.
My current setup is WM6 5.2.1413 (Build 17913) originally provided by mUn but with the Enterprise files from the 5.2.318 ROM. With the 5.2.1413 ROM 'naked' L2TP/IPSec just would not work no matter what I tried. I rebuilt this ROM with one of the Kitchens but removed the Enterprise files (4 directories) and replaced them with the 4 Enterprise directories from the 5.2.318 ROM originally posted by Faria.
I Flashed the Wizard OK and go through the initial setup. Now I connect to my Wireless network and save the profile, I then add a VPN connection on the Wizard that connects to my VPN router. If I attempt to connect it fails. Now if I disable the Wireless and soft reset the Wizard, then as soon as it has started whilst Battery Status is showing something like 12MB of Program Memory, I connect the Wireless and then attempt to connect the VPN it works. From this point on I can disconnect the VPN, reconnect, disconnect the Wireless, reconnect etc and it works every time
If I disconnect the wireless and soft reset again but this time wait until Battery Status is showing 28MB of Program Memory, then connect the wireless and then attempt to connect the VPN it fails and will never work again unless it is soft-reset and everything is started quickly. I have tested this several times now and the behaviour is consistent.
This smells to me like some initialisation issue at bootup that I am somehow managing to get around by attempting to start the VPN whilst the Wizard isn't fully initialised?
Does anyone know what process at boot up is likely to cause this behaviour? And more importantly how to fix it?
Thanks
Andy

ActiveSync grabs proxy-settings from PC?

Hi,
I have reason to believe that ActiveSync grabs the proxy settings from my computer and sticks these on my connection profile on the Touch HD.
This prevents me from using browsers, but other network connections work fine.
The solution is to remove the proxy settings, but it's rather annoying when it happens all the time.
Anyone else got this problem? Or even a solution?
