Can you post more details? which Hermes version (100, 200, 300), which re-seller/carrier, which country?

I heard that one HT637XXXX is also been hit by screen alignment in Singapore as Dopod 838pro...
I have a HK Dopod838pro HT636XXXX still good (1 week), tried to load all my stuff, blew hot hair dyer...still ok. Hopefully stays that way !!! (knock!)
alignment!
I have a 634 after 10 days it hit me. but only on the right side of the screen.
Also quick shortcut for screen alignment is d-pad button and message button, this will bring up the alignment immediately, great time saver.!
sorry here is the info
hermes 300 from t-mobile uk. is that ok?
Check out my sig Mikey.
I got one here and no problems as yet..
Unfortunately mine came with HSDPA disabled so I had to ring T-Mobile to get it activated.
After 30 minutes of them telling me it wasnt possible to turn this feature on I told them the phone would be returned as hundreds already had this feature for free on the £7.50 WnW.
They rang me back the same afternoon telling me my request was granted but HSDPA will only be activated with the £10 WnW as from now..
We will see..
wow
I would bull**** andrefuse that, it is not a service they charge for??

For no apparent reason on Saturday, my touchscreen decided to stop working. I was running the latest WWE iMate ROM, with the .10 Radio installed over the top.
I tried soft reseting a few times, with no luck - so moved onto a hard reset as well. That failed
Having seen someone post a link to a proper T Mobile download for the original ROM for the phone, I thought it best to try that. Unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem, but at least has put my phone back to a state where I can cheerfully give it to T Mobile and claim on the 12 month warranty.
I'm dropping it into my retail store today... but am disappointed it has only lasted 3 months before dying.
It hasn't been dropped, water damaged or anything like that - just simply gave up the ghost.
my touchscreen sporadically stops working (mda pro), but then will start again, if I rub the wider end of the Stylus across the screen quickly a few times.
I'm contemplating taking it back, let us know how you get on with T-Mobile.
Do t-mobile UK give a replacement unit?
Well mine's gone into the store today. Reckon I'll get something back from them by the end of the week. They reckon 5-7 days turnaround, but the phone won't even be sent offsite until tomorrow. (They have collections 2 or 3 times a week I think...)
Its a far cry from Orange where, with Orange Care, having stopped working Saturday, it would have been replaced on Sunday.
Luckily I still have my Orange C500, so I unlocked it, put an iMate ROM on it, and inserted my T Mobile SIM.
No question that it'll be repaired or replaced - but if you rely on the device, a week (or more!) is a long time to be without it...
Had I had the T Mobile equivalent of Orange Care, it wouldn't be sorted any quicker - so at least I can be happy I didn't waste my money with that.
I did try slightly flexing the screen and repeated tapping to try and get it to work again, but no joy. Perhaps the screen IS the weak link afterall, despite me religiously closing it up clamshell before putting in my pocket etc.
hi everyone today i have noticed screen alignment problem with my t-mob mda vario 2 , it has serial number HT632xxxxxxxxxxx . it has been almost a week since i ve got it and this is the first time i have noticed it. The only difference since last night is 2 app i have installed. one is ae button plus and other one is pocket music. now i have removed them and tsting it again. will post further.
is there any one having smilar issues?
welcome to the club....
I Just hard reset mine, did not load EXT ROMs and I'm on my 3rd day now...
I justr have my pims...
let us know your experience....
since ihave removed aebutton plus it seems fine but you know once you have seen such thing you get bit suspicious about everything.
I have also emiled developer of aeb but not sure if he will reply.
and I have also asked tmobile what would be the solution. they don't recognize screen alignmet issue as a fault yet and advised me not to belive everything on the net :S
they also won't replace device but refer me to htc. I don't know if another support guy would tell different but since I ve still got some time until free to cancel period over, if I get same problem again I will cancel my contract and stick with old wizard some time
change it.
i go back to my seller (before 15 days) dans i change it, now ht630xxx and no probleme
i have cancelled my contract with t-mobile. gprs connection was crap here

That is illegal under the 2000 amendment to the Sales of Goods and Services Act 1982. Anything that fails within the first six months after sale will be deemed to have failed at the point of sale and you have the choice of repair, replacement or refund.
but problem is, fault is very hard to demostrate. it reminded me my sony digital camera, power button wasn't responding time to time and randomly, i have sent it to sony explained whats happening. after a week i ve got reply. they were explaining how to operate cameras power button!!!
another example is today before i have cancelled my contract i was asking customer care why its almost pain to connect to internet in my area . after sendin trace and ping results via email response i ve got was:
I have received your e-mail as re your issues I have looked in to this as the software is not supported by t-mobile you would need to contact Microsoft for further support
Thanks

I think that if you look in the warranty you will find that this is incorrect. If you speak to HTC and give them the IMEI, they will be able to assist you further.
I just loaded everything on my unit... and it's back to once a day misalignmnet ...!!
It could be the digitizer driver is being allocated to unstable segment of the memory. A dopod HK technician tried to replaced the digitizer and it's no use. He is waiting for the official ROM release for HK dopod 838Pro. It is still on hold here in HK.
He even mentioned that replacing the digitizer with a less responsive one (cheaper as he said) FIXES this issue. But it would be also costly for Dopod to replaced the hundreds released in Singapore. But waiting for a fix from HTC also costing them !!!
Well, it's purely marketing !!!
Hi All,
I've started to have screen allignment problem after 1 month of usage on my 838 Pro. I've tried upgrading to the latest ROM, all kinds of hacks on the forum etc .. I've even resort to using 'Block Recognizer' as it can still detect the correct stroke even if the allignment is out. There are times when I have to do screen allignment 10 times a day! Oh I got the HTC631XXX device.
Anyway, I got fed up and called up Dopod Customer Support, and to my delight, they say bring it in and they will change the LCD for me (4 hours). So I happily went in and I got a suprise again when I got a call that my phone is ready in 1.5 hours!! So I happily pick it up and everything works as it should. Right now after 40hours of testing, so far no SA problem *keeping fingers crossed*. Will post again after 1 month (my first SA problem came after 1 month).
I am convinced it is a hardware problem and I still have my customized extended Rom in place. And the Rom version is the same (V1.23.707.4 Rom Date 07/21/06).
So .. for those Dopod 838 Pro users in Malaysia who is suffering from SA problem, do send yours back for an LCD replacement. It's a no hassle / quick replacement. Thumbs up service.
I made a little survey to see how many people are actually experiencing the problem with their HTC Trinity touch screen. Please fill it out and spread it around to any relevant sites (forums, news pages) with people experiencing the same problems. If you run into someone experiencing the problem, let them know too
Results will be posted in this thread from time to time as well as mailed out to HTC and any news sites intrested in writing up a little article on the problem.

In order to get the most out of these results, please spread the word so we can get all the people experiencing the problem posting to determine how wide spread this is and try to come up with some kind of pattern.

Is there anyone who sent the P3600 for repare and get it back fixed?
I have sent it and on the website it says it is fixed but I don't know what they did yet.
I will post when they do...
BTW there is already a long post on this topic so we should keep everything together.
I've read posts of people who have sent their units in only to get them back with the same problems. I hope that's not the case with yours srk. The reason I posted this on a different post is to post the results in the main message of the survey. If there are a large number of users exhibiting the problem, then it's obviously a large scale defect. If that's the case, I don't think people should have to pay anything to HTC to get the problem fixed.

How can i DELETE THIS post?
I hope to get in touch with HTC before they send my unit back make sure it is fixed before receiving but we will see how it goes. Since I have a magician in hand I am not in a hurry to get it back.
I will post as soon as I hear a response from them.
Added a few more entries to the report in the first post of this thread. Please keep spreading the word so we can get a large number to HTC so they can hopefully aknlowedge the problem.
Srk: Did you get in touch with HTC to find out if they actually found and fixed the problem on your device?
I sent another email to HTC Europe support, got a response back that they haven't heard about this problem and to hard reset, talk about BS!
Haha they haven't heard of this problem????
How can they say they fixed mine then.... Anyways still haven't heard from them but I am planning to give them the link for the other post here on the forum...
I am pretty sure they just hard resetted my phone and install the newly released rom. But I told them the problem occurs after or during a long phone call so I hope they will check that.
well I got the good news today, see below.
My problem statement was different than what it says below but its ok.... BTW this was in HTC UK.
Hi,
The problem with the phone was a defective main board which has now been replaced.
Once testing is complete your phone will be dispatched.

Cool, please post if they actually fixed it when you get it, read from some other users who got the same response that they got the unit back "with a replacement main board" with the same problem.
Though if it is a defective main board and a large number of users are complaining about it, I don't think it's fair that they are charging people out of warrenty to pay for something that was initially defective in the first place and didn't start appearing until after the warrenty period.

Yes this will be my argument if they want me to pay but I hope It won't come to that
good news to everyone that opened their phone already...
I had opened my phone (I did rip the sticker) and I had installed the Dopod GPS rom before sending it to them and they shipped the phone back to me today without asking for a payment.... So I guess it is still covered with their waranty
So I guess they know about this problem but just don't make it public, because I had prepared myself for a large bill already...
Hello,
I got the same pb with my SPV M700, the french Orange version of the HTC Trinity after 2 months.
Orange replaced it last week... and the new one is doing the same thing since yesterday !!
I just figured out this could be the USB cable, since I realised I had trouble with another USB device !
This may help some of you who, like me, use an "old" USB cable, that may be responsible for provoking damage to the phone motherboard.
I should have my new Trinity by tomorrow and let you know about it.
Another thing I figured out : my first trinity started to blink after I installed the bassfix patch. Did you also have it installed on your Trinity ???
W.
Hope any of you guys can help me on this. Last night my Leo's screen went totally unresponsive.
Could not get past the screen lock. Removed the battery, rebboted ... could not get the PIN code in.
I had seen this already two nights ago, but it got away once I moved in an area where I could get a reasonable signal (ultra-crappy where I am now on vacation).
Now Im'm beginning to think the signal thing was just a coincidence and that the problem is way more serious.
In total despair, I even tried a hard reset. To no avail.
Phone boots up fine. I can even sync to it (so yes, I can get to the registry). But since the only control is the screen ... not really a lot I can do with it.
I need to be in touch for work and I badly need the voice and internet connectivity (right now I'm using the wife's phone ...).
Any ideas besides getting an RMA from HTC?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Update: spoke with HTC support.
It looks like the issue is somehow triggered by the lock screen.
As suggested by HTC, I flashed again the 1.66 ROM upgrade and everything ran smoothly until the phone went in standby the first time.
Then, I was (and still am) unable to unlock the screen. And if I soft reset screen is unresposnsive again.
Right now I can just receive calls (I removed the PIN code from the SIM temporarily).
HTC told me to send it in for repair, but everything in Italy is closed until Aug 23rd and the only option I have is to ship it at my own expense to the UK and back (HTC will collect and deliver free of charge only within the same country).
Total bill some 100+ Euro plus driving 100 KM or so to the nearest courier collection point. A nightmare.
What really troubles me is that the problem surfaces only once the screen locks.
On one hand I follow HTC's support that if flashing 1.66 did not cure the issue, it cannot be software.
On the other hand, if it is indeed hardware, how come it freezes only after the first lock screen? Lock/unlock is a software thing. Screen should behave exactly the same way before or after the lock - shouldn't it?
Anyone here seen/heard of anything like this?
wow, gotta love those "closed for the summer" euro vacations.
If you reinstall the ROM, then why not disable the lockscreen until you can get it fixed?
You can install BSB tweaks and that has an option to disable autolock.
i had the same exact problem; it started freezing only on the lock screen then got worse and started freezing at random times while in use. I finally broke down and sent it in to HTC to check it out. I'm waiting to hear back with there diagnosis and I will pass along whatever they tell me.
Good to know the problem has come up somewhere else (if you're the only one you are most likely to hear it's your fault before they replace the most expensive component in the phone). Where are you located slimster?
How long have you been waiting for? HTC policy should be 7-10 working days from when they receive the phone at the lab (so they told me and I remember reading it somewehere here in xda too).
