Okay - the camera whilst not terible isn't stunning - it can be improved a lot by dropping the default sharpness from 7 to 1, and lowering the contrast BUT a soft reset or powerdown returns the camera to the default settings. Has anyone any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Richard
Have you tried switching to a "file-based registry?" Sounds like it could help you with this issue...

As far as i know tweak2k2 has a option to turn on the file based registry setting....so give that software a try and sorry i didnt tried it so cant tell the result...to add more the same probs was also present in the magician (aka i-mate jam) but changing a specific type of registry did fixed it permanently (means can survive a soft reset)
thanks
Sadly this doesn't seem to work. Has anyone found a solution yet?
Thanks,
Richard
Not that i'm aware of. STUPID STUPID problem! I have to mess about with the tytn camera more than I do my canon SLR! Kind of negates the point of having a 2mp camera on the phone as I still have to carry my camera around.
Temporary Camera Settings fix
This is not a 100% fix (Until someone works out how the registry keeps its settings - hive??????????)
Anyway I have created a Skschema script to automate the emulation of keypress/taps required to change the camera settings to "contrast = 1 and Sharpness =1".
Remember you need Skschema installed for the script to work.
Install the Skschema script to \Windows
Install the shortcut link to \Windows\Startup
Now when you soft reset your Hermes the Script will make the changes to the contrast and sharpness settings 1 minute after bootup.
I have tested this on a MDA Vario II (T-mobile UK) Hermes, in theory it should work on the other variants.
Code:
#r(\Windows\Camera.exe) #waitfor(1) #sleep(60000)
#r(#tap) #p(17;31) #sleep(5000)
#r(#tap) #p(16;249) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(42;283) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(102;62) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(154;235) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(47;173) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(94;265) #sleep(1000)
#r(#tap) #p(213;277) #sleep(1500)
#r(#tap) #p(223;305) #sleep(2000)
Maybe someone could come up with a similar script for Mortscript?

Easiest why to maintain the camera settings after a soft reset is to export (.reg) the registry settings of the camera from HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera and import them on startup via the startup folder.
Not tried it, but the theory is sound.

Nice idea, but unfortunatelly it does not work. The damn settings are back somehow!
I asked HTC about this and was simply ignored.
Perhaps the settings are set to default on opening the camera application for the first time - so maybe a script that opens the camera, imports the reg settings (in the background if that's at all possible) and then closes the camera app may work. Total fudge and I'm not going to try it as I don't use the camera often enough.
nobody find a way to do it?

make sure your registry looks like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Drivers/BuiltIn/WaveDev]
"Prefix"="WAV"
"Dll"="wavedev.dll"
"Index"=dword:00000001
"Order"=dword:00000000
"IClass"="{A32942B7-920C-486b-B0E6-
92A702A99B35}"
good luck :lol:
here is a registry fix too( automatic ), just import and your sound works :wink:
Any idea what these settings actually do?
The only one that is different from my device is "Order", which is 2, not 0.
FYI, as was referenced in another post, connecting and disconnecting the headset does seem to reset sound speed problems.
- Justin
the file is NOT for sound speed or any adjustments. it is a backup of the wave registry settings. if audio is not working at all, this will fix it.
After the upgrade, I noticed a drop in ringer volume! The funny thing is, when the ringer is set at max voume, it is softer than the Windows Media Player set at 100% volume. So, this is not the limitation of the speakers. Anyone knows how to fix this?
try
* audiostreem
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"AGC"=dword:00000001

Hi, Thanks for the reply! I know that tweaks the registry...how do I type that code in? I haven't done this before...sorry. Also, what does it do?
use Resco Explorer Registry plugin
Just recently I detected that I do not receive any calendar notifications any more, which is really annoying. Device wakes up but no sound at all. Browsed some threads on this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1035667#post1035667) but only advise I found is to hard reset - which I do not want. I checked the registry instead and found some questioning entrys.
Could anybody USING PHONEALARM (www.pocketmax.net) on a Prophet or any other WM5 device please post some of his registry entries here?
- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Reminders
- HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications
Many thanks

To me either pocket clock or PHONEALARM caused the same problem.
I went back to a sprite back-up point from before installing both applications. Then my reminders and alarms worked again.
I have not tried to reinstall either of them.

The registry values?
I didn't manipulate the registry, I just put the user name and introduce the serial number.

Yes I did the same. And after more than two months I ran into the mentioned problem. And now I want to manipulate the registry but need to compare the mentioned values with mine. There is nothing critical about registry values and your would pretty much help me providing your info.

BTW, I had the exact same thing happen to me with my Magician, and had to hard-reset to get notifications back. I've only just been game enough to load pA on my newish Prophet and so far it is working OK. I am running pA Lite v.1.56.1 (Build 80).

PeterW,
many thanks. Unfortunatly it looks the same on my phrophet - but without getting notified. I am using pA 1.31 - no idea whether this will generate other registry entries than pA lite 1.56.1. On my my WM2003 device with pA 1.31 installed the registry looks different, in reminders I have:
* Default = "Erinnerungen"
* Duration = 10
* Options = 1073741855
* Wave = "Alarm4"
Anybody else having these entries in a WM5 registry?
Regards Hase01

Have found a solution using alarmToday, also a pocketmax product. Look my post on their support page:

No need for a hard reset!!!!! Hope this helps other users, for me phoneAlarm is one of the best tools I have on my PPC and to deinstall it would be of great disadvantage.

I used Freeware Task Manager from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104 to fix this. Run it, go to notifications tab, select "delete duplicate" and reboot. All working nicely now.
hi,
i just got myself a TyTN, before that i had qtek 9100 and i use to use this tweak:
By just adding following keys to the registry will get you a nice 'wireless' today item that show Network name/status,
WiFi name/status as well as Bluetooth status. Confirmed to work on AKU2 ROMs
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
now i tried it on my TyTN and it doesnt work...each time after making the changes to the reg. when i softreset the .dll file gets missing in the reg. ? i dont understand why it shouldnt work as both the devices use wm5 ? could some please help me with this?
thanks,

Try taking off the quotes on netui.dll and adding the windows directory in front \windows\netui.dll
String value Name=DLL
String Value Data=\windows\netui.dll
Seems to work for me
I also have dword key for FLags and OPtions, but they are set to 0
I've done this on my TyTN and it works fine. I think the key is to actually close the registry editor program (not just hit the X to minimize it) before the soft reset to ensure that all of the changes are saved to the registry.
hope this helps.
hi thnx for the prompt replies, but none of that helped...from the start i never used the quotes, im using PHM Registry Editor, and when i click on "ok" it asks me to save changes or not so im sure the changes are saved i have even verified it again by opening the prog. but when i softreset the dll key just disappears...i tried adding /window/ in front of netui.dll also...btw im using 1.18.255.3 english rom...
EDIT:
ok so after playing arround a little i have come to the conclusion that the reason why the dll key is not working is coz the .dll does not exist? i have looked a little into /windows/ folder and i see a file named "netmui.dll.0409.mui" but nothing like "netui.dll"...i even did a search nothing comes up...so someone could see and tell where must this dll file is located i could verify if it really there or not...
Thanks,

How do I disable the WM6 Startup Sound?
Thanks!
I found the culprit = PhoneOn.wav.
I tried deleting the Key for the .wav in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
but did not work.
I also tried to delete PhoneOn.wav with Total Commander but its protected from deletion in some way....aaaaargh!
Please help
I would like to no how to. I do the same thing.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation\Enabled
Set it to 0 for off, 1 for on.

Are the registry edits you making actually getting written? Are you powering off the device after making the edits or just soft resetting?
Verify that the changes are made after booting by reviewing the entries again.

Slim,
I rebooted and the entry is getting written. I then soft reset and that darn music is still playing -- are you on a Touch (Vogue)??
thanks
This worked for me
This is what I just did, seems to work fine.
1) Use Total Commander to search for the registry key which contains sound_on.
or browse to
\HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\FlightModeOnOff\Sound_on
2) Change the content of that key from "SoundOn.wav" to "silence.wav"
3) Done.
I now get a nice and quiet soft reset. I'm using the HTC Touch / Vogue.
Leon.
Sorry dude, I am using a Tilt. I pulled the reg keys from the ROM kitchen I use to build my ROM; however, I HATE the stupid startup animation and sound, so I never cook it in to my builds.
The calls for your startup animation must be somewhere else.
Try ibloo's solution...I will look around a bit and see if I can find out why those reg edits I suggested don't work for you.

FOR HTC PURE,
Here is how to replace the annoying AT&T startup noise with any sound file of your own choice:
Edit the registry at following location:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
Change StartupWav to any other wav files.
Remember..
When you are making changes to the registry...
-exit the registry editor
-give it a good 10 seconds or so, then hit the power button (to blank the screen). This allows the registry settings to bake/get applied.
-Then, do a soft reset.
Else.. if you do it too quick, the changes may not apply/stick.

Hi Chemist
Found this one but what I really want is NO sound at all. How do I achieve that? Can I just remove the reference to the existing .WAV file or do I have to replace it with a .WAV that is empty, ie, no sound? If that is the case do you know where I can get hold of one or how I could make one?
Thanks in advance.
