I've had a recurring issue that my speed dial list gets blown away (no explanation as to what causes it).
Is there a way to backup/restore this list?

Hi.
I've been happily playing and customizing my TyTN and everything was going very smoothly until today. So, I was wondering if someone might know what the hell is going on.
Everything was working fine today in the morning. I have checked my voice mail as usual using the shortcut that gets automatically enabled in speed dial under number 1. Since then, I have installed Handmark Pocket Express, which also installed MS .NET CF 2.0 and then when I went to speed dial Voice Mail was no longer there. And I cannot create a shortcut for that number at all. It does not give me an option to use number 1. Soft Reset did not help. Installing a different SIM from my wife's phone did not help either. Before I start uninstalling and Hard Reseting, I was wondering if anyone else seen this issue before.

Any help will be appreciated.
bumping this up
Hi,
Go to phone ==> speed dial ==> long tap on the number 1 (first top) ==> modify, then screen phone, select fifth line "voicemail and SMS" and tap display parameters ==> then, on the voicemail screen key into the voicemail box your number to call your voicemail. After going back to the speed dial screen your voicemail should be recorded.

Missing Voicemail Speeddial
I have a similar problem, but in my case not only is the speed dial for voicemail missing, but there's no number one on the speed dial screen. When I try to create a new speed dial, the numbers that are listed as either available or already assigned begin at 2. There's no "1" on the speed dial screen so I can't use your solution, and I've created a new speed dial for voicemail, but I've assigned it to 2. How can I make speed dial 1 visible?
PIM file was so large wing started giving me "low memory" warnings. I deleted PIM file, re-synced with exchange server, and PIM file was rebuilt. Had to re-assign speed dial numbers. No speed dial 1 for voice mail anymore. Help!
That file holds your PIM information if that's not already obvious enough. To get that number back, go to start>settings>phone>services>voice mail and text messages>get settings>voice mail number should be listed under "Voice Mail."
no speed dial 1
yes, the phone number for voice mail is listed there, but there is no speed dial 1 available in the speed dial list, and no option to configure it.
In your dialer, go to menu>speed dial>menu>new and set voicemail to number 1.
I tried this but the choices start with speed dial 2. Thanks for trying.
Then what happens when you press and hold 1?
Nothing happens when I press 1 and hold. That's how I figured out that I must have messed it up when I deleted the PIM file.
bump, anyone else out there who may know?
Bump... theres about 50 topics on this site concerning this... does anyone have any ideas?
Wondered if anyone can help me with this, been searching for a soloution for hours and can't find one.
I have photos attached to a good deal of my contacts, and when dialling via a speed dial button the contacts photo is not displayed, (Rhodium dialler and canvas), they are when dialling in any other way just not on speed dialling, and this annoys me greatly.
What I want to do is either, make it so that they are displayed, or, disable speed dial completely so that they don't show up on the phone canvas, and you just see recent calls and contacts.
I worked out how to delete the speed dials from 2-9 but can't get rid of the voicemail one, does anybody know how to make this deleteable ?
Thanks' in advance for any help given, Dave.
Is there a way, other than adding *31# infront of the stored number, to enable caller ID per contact in my 'people' tab?
My number is blocked by default (and I'd like to keep it that way for a variety of reasons) but would like to enable the ID when calling my wife and select other people. The workaround so far has been to add the code above infront of the number but then it seems SMS messages are not going thru which is less than ideal (I could add a separate number entry for messages I guess, but still).
Having looked at the Phone settings it seems I'm able to select "Contacts only" which in my mind (as a dev) means someone has already written a app (or simply extended the current Contact app) to allow for this on a per-contact basis.
Any ideas?
You can try this MagiCall
http://www.mobiion.com/
I was also looking for this.
The MagiCall features don't mention the option to set caller id per contact.
@emigrating: Did you fix it another way?
Anyone else knows a good solution?
+1 same interrest same issue.
But as time goes on you can use the following workaround: or let's say this is the way I manage it......
If you use the traditional SMS Mode and hit reply sms goes through.
This doesn't work as mentioned in Konversation Mode.
It's uncomfortable because the konversation mode is the better client...but the only way you can send sms to someone stored as *31# contact.
It seems as if the konversation mode always refers to the number stored in your contact, whereas the traditional mode refers to the number which comes with the sms.
I hope someone can fix this, or has a better workaround, I'll be interested to!!!

use MagiCall. Set up a rule: for your wife's phone #, prepend *31#, then dial.
I use it for long distance calls. For all phone # not in my home area code, prepend 1511 (chaper long distance call provider), then dial. A small problem with this: need to disable this rule when roaming in another country.
Give it a try, it is good.
I've downloaded the trial version and set up a rule for Outlook categories, just to test. Change the dialed number to #31#{phone}. When I call someone in the particular category, the MagiCall icon appears in the topbar and my device freezes....
No big problem, I restarted my device to try again.
The same thing happens. Again I take out the battery and restart the phone.
At that point the device became terrible slow somehow.
With a little patience I succeeded uninstalling the app.
Restarting again.
Fortunately, my phome is normal speed again.
Sorry, I'm not a big fan of MagiCall at this moment...

Edit: Just trying again, because I can't find a real alternative.
The problem seems to occur when I choose Outlook Category as filter.
Just bad luck for me by choosing that option for my first try.
The program seems to respond on other conditions.
It could be my phone only, otherwise maybe I will contact Mobiion about this..
Edit2: The problem was known and was fixed in a newer version.
So it seems to work after all
Weird one yesterday did a hard reset, nothing went wrong as I backed up using smart switch software.
Everything is back on my non rooted device and its working better than before which is why I needed to hard rest the phone.
This isn't the issue, the issue was the setting up speed dial and voice mail or number one on the speed dial I'm with Vodafone and its voice mail has always been 121, but during my set up I mistakenly set it to 191, which is customer service number.
There is no way of removing the 191 speed dial I can remove 2-999 contact but not number 1 weird rang UK support from Samsung and they had me on hold for 10mins saying they cant remove it either. So prove me right or wrong?
Go to phone or contacts
Top left three dot menu
select: Speed dial
see if you can change number one speed dial?
An X only appears on contacts from 2-999 so question was how to change the no.1 speed dial? Samsungs' answer was hard reset again
