Latest release v2.91 supports WM5, here:-
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=7325
But the compatibility does not show the Universal.
Anybody tested it?
Thanks
I think they did
"NEW: Support for Windows Mobile 5 XSCALE PDA's:
Support for HP iPAQ hx24xx, hx27xx, Dell Axim x51v, x50v, o2 XDA II executive WM5 PDA's. Other generic WM5 XScale PDA's should most likely work too."
but the wrong description fro XDA Exec
RE
Yes, you're right!
Now, whats the best setting without going into a soft/hard reset?
I've just tried it - it doesn't work!
It goes into a flickering black or white screen (even with the flicker preventation option on) and only a soft resets solves the problem.
Are you sure? I installed the latest version (2.91) in my Qtek 9000 and it works great. I even overclocked it to 624MHz with no problems so far...
I haven't used the auto function yet, cause I haven't bought it.
anyone else tried this? essential for reading an ebook and getting extended battery life
I'm certain. I downloaded the trial version of 2.91 from PocketGear and it didn't work - flickering white or black screens and no response from the buttons or screen taps.
I have a 2 week old XDA Exec. PHM works fine.
Did not work
It did not work for me either. Screen just flickered with alternating black and white bars.
PanaBax
Mine worked fine a few times, even TCPMP said my JasJar was running at 628Mhz, then I soft reset my device, started it up again, and I'm getting lots of pretty black scrolling lines whenever I use it again to increase the speed.
Looks nice, but does hamper my use of the JJ ever so slightly :!:
Tried it, was ok until I put the speed up, putting it down to 200mhz was ok though
Not working
As soon as I apply any higher speed (than 520), the screen starts flickering or goes blank (whether I check the screen flicker filter or not), and the device freezes
(I have the full registered version)
From what I see I'm the only one with Qtek 9000 Rom installed who used it with no problems. Perhaps the problem has something to do with the jasjar rom? :?:
Working perfectly on my XDA Exec @624, with a very appreciable speed increase - a large excel file I use frequently opened 3 seconds faster than at the base speed.
Just-bearable flicker @663, grey screen and soft reset @7xx.
Ditto on the funny lines on the screen on my MDA pro. Does it within 3 seconds of being started up. No speed changes are nessesary. Soft reset required to fix it.
I'm a registered user so its not just the trial version that fails. I shall email developer see if he has any ideas.
Uninstalled!!
Nigel
@RobT: I'm thinking of using it for the same thing - have you done a soak test (as it were) to see what kind of difference to battery life it makes? I'm thinking leave the backlight on and see what the tail off is over, say, an hour.
My Uni doesn't get opened until the 25th so I can't test it myself yet...
On the up-side, I'm looking forward to Christmas as if I were a kid again
I got a fail here using O2 Exec ~~ Screen turn either flicker or white and the only thing I can do is soft reset as well
RE
WOW!
I'm running 624 MHz on my QTEK 9000 and watching full screen movie using TCPMP
So far I'm not experiencing problems llike those reported
Have to use it for a couple more days to verify its stability
I have the same flicker problem, try Pocket Hack Master Instead.
RE
Ok guys,
Detected problems now
My QTEK 9000 refused to power on. Took out and re-insert the battery and then it can be powred on.
Next, upon startup flickering occurs and the unit hang. Had to soft reset and stop XCPUScalar running before unit flickers and hang.
Uninstalled XCPUScalar finally.
Well, XPUScalar works perfectly at 624Mhz as long as I plug my JJ into a power source, which leads me to the (probably incorrect) conclusion, that the JJ speed settings are set to "Auto" by default, and switch to "Full speed" when you stick a power source into it.
(That would explain the performance increase that people noticed in a thread a couple of months back, when they had their JJ's plugged in...)
Now I'm off to learn how to hack the kernel of a PPC so that I can change the default power setting to full speed.....see you all in a couple of years or so (!)
EDIT: Yep, after a bit more playing around, XPUScalar causes a crash soon as you unplug the power source, but it will run perfectly as long as you have a LOT of programs open before you start it. So if the internal cpu management is telling the JJ to run at full speed then everything's hunky-dory, but as soon as it starts trying to 'manage' the CPU itself, everything goes the way of the pear.
Hi guys!
I see that my Jamin is stable at 240MHZ... what is, in your opinion, the hi stable overclock for the Jamin... ?
O2 Neo
Hi, i run my O2 Neo at 240 stable. I'll probably try even 252. It's summer so I wouldn't push it higher than that. 252 could be stable, but depends on conditions. Just try it for few days.
Running at 240 MHz, it the battery life MUCH reduced than using factory 200 MHz speed?
My opinion - 'Sligtly' is more accurate then MUCH. But i didn't measure it.
252 MHz for 2 month on my XDA Neo with JAMin ROM, without any problem. Battery life is good, did not really see any difference before and after overlocking.
Well, I have been running my wizard at 264 MHz for 4 months straight and it has never failed on me. i have it on all the time after standby and soft resets. ive also tried 276MHz for a while but i had to soft reset it almost twice a day.
BTW, increasing the clock higher than usual does not heat up your device. the most it would do is soft reset it. temperature running at 264mhz is mostly the same as running at factory speed. (well for me it has) dont know about some of you.

Overclok on Dopod 818pro
Guys, my device is Dopod 818pro, and i was using OmapClock.exe to OvClock my processor, but, when the first time i run this program, the clock speed, says 264 Mhz? is it supposed to be the correct Processor Speed?
I got confused as i read anywhere else that the default factory speed is only at 180 Mhz.
But why is it my device gives me a 264 Mhz on Clock Speed?
also i've tried all the guides and tricks to keep my Clock Speed at certain number (eg. 216 Mhz). such as using a MemMaid and etc. but still, i always got the number 264 Mhz and it won't change at all... neither after soft-reset nor stand-by.
Anyone got the same problems?
I forgot to mention, when the first time i bought this 818pro, i felt that my device run very fast, even faster than my friends HP 6828 and ATOM PURE. Did i get lucky or sumthin'?
Everything on my device is still on factory setting...
i removed the OmapClock and Other Utility Software..
also..... there is one more sw.... 'Pocket Hack Master' from http://www.antontomov.com.... have a look whether it has compatiblity with URs.....
might be helpful.....
Mine has been stable at 240MHz for 2 months so about 6 weeks ago I bumped it to 252MHz and is stable since.
Nir
thanks!

Try installing the demo of sktools - its the only program I know that shows the true processor speed.
i did over clock to my device into 240, and it's works normally, but i don't know how to know that my overclocking was success or not, where can i read the speed of processor after overclocked?

how do i keep my device permanently on at a certain speed thgough omapclock?
also i would like the overlock to work at the set speed even after soft resets. Is this possible?

Yes you can 2 simple methods here
1. Using omapclockplus - see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56057
2. Use batterystatus plugin - displays Mhz on today screen and has omap functions inc device wakeup overclocking see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=55782
You could also use smartskey or notification queue method but above methods use easy install cabs.

Just tried - I agree, there is no big difference in battery life - similar autonomy than factory settings when running at 240 MHz...
Hi,
I really don't recommand to overclock the prophet over 240mhz.
I overclocked my first prophet @252mhz.
I had no crash problem with this overclocking, but it burned the bluetooth chipset.
Now i have a new one and have a permanent overclock @216mhz, and sometimes i overclock it @240mhz, but usually it' only to do some tests!
The 216mhz is more than enough to do what i want.

PocketHack Master V4 is now out with Tytn support. Be warned that at it's highest setting of 440mhz i had to HARD reset my device.... Must start at a lower speed next time and work my way up!
I'm still in the middle of restoring!!

have you found a need to overclock the device then...., might works fine for what I use it for
Thanks for pointing this out... I updated the FAQs on the wiki.
It automatically scales the processor voltage onSamsung S3C2440 processors
so does this clock it over 440mhz, because an extra 40mhz doesnt really sound worthy of paying for software, especially when the TyTN is pretty snappy?
So... do you need to stick it in a fridge or anything afterwards?
I think the main idea of using the program is to allow a "super battery saving" mode, by underclocking the device it will use less power....obviously impacting performance-wise but still!
The main reason I wanted PHM was to help render web pages faster. My tytn downloads quicker than the works PC on normal broadband but the pages take longer to 'finalize' the page (i.e.. you can scroll down a page and it's still inserting images). This is a CPU speed issue.
I have finally got to play with PHM and it still needs more work! Just doing a test at tytn's default 400Mhz crashes my phone, never mind higher! I never got much higher than 300Mhz, how strange!!
Hack Master V4 not ready for primetime!
As others have noted, don't waste your time on Hack Master v4. I played with it, only to find it causes crashes, no matter what you do. Also, I found that it caused an incomplete Hard Reset. So, I had to do the manual hard reset twice, to get TYTN working again correctly.
Also, the Wiki should be updated to show there are still problems for anyone wanting to OC the TYTN.
I stupidly tried PHM too, and have just suffered a partial hard reset. Here goes the long and frustrating reinstall...

aren't we allowed to take these people to court? False advertising and damaging my equipment? They must have had enough emails by now and yet the same program is still there advertising the same things, very poor...
We should probably change the title of this thread to say "OVERCLOCKING: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT..."

They can get away with it through the fact that they tell you to backup your device before you use the program. Coming from an XDAII where PHM worked perfectly though, I stupidly assumed that the quality of the product would be at least the same or even better after numerous updates.
I'm pretty much set up again now, but I'll certainly be looking at purchasing a backup solution before I put my trust in something like that again.
Don't think about it, even with a backup... While trying to overclock my TyTN smoothly, it's now on the way to service (no more booting at all...)

Oops ... you should have read this thread before even trying overcloking ...
sorry for ya mate !!!
I find my Jasjam (Hermes) runs very fast and I don't see the point in over clocking it when it runs fast enough normally.
Have XCPU Scaler, in autoscale mode working up to 500mhz, on a cingular 8525 (HERM100), no resets, no problem.
>Edit
Also scaled down to 200mhz on the low side for super battery saver.

?Glitch that is amazing not just the speed but the fact that their is no problems!!!!!!!!

you'll be needing one of those new spangly batteries with extra life to cope with a processor increase like that.
@?Glitch: Can you post some screenshots?
That's awesome .. Has anyone else tried this program out? How's it working for you?
I'm using the XCPUScalar with its CPU load based setting.
Normally I set the speed to only 200MHz while on heavy load it speed-up back to 400MHz and 500NHz on very high load.
On day-to-day use it looks like extending the battery life (working on lower clock rate) whiles much quicker route calculation when using the navigation program.
Currently I faced now problem.
Hi,
I'm very happy with my universal (wifi and vga in pocketsize) only one thing is driving me crazy.
every, say once in 10 times the universal won't start when I press the power button. (after it turning off automatically after a few minutes when on battery power). Worse yet, it doesn't accept phonecalls and smses anymore either..so it already crashed silently. Unfortunately you can't see this from the outside since the lights still flash. I only notice it crashed when trying to start the device.
I've updated to wm6 because I thought it was a wm5 issue, but it wouldn't help. I also updated to radio 1.13 (the orange radio stack as found on this site). But this too, didn't fix it.
does anybody else have the same problem?? This problem renders my whole device unuseful. =^(
thanks!
Reinier
Welcome to the club...looks like no solution on this one yet. Here is a link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=272938
Some say it might be incompatibility with the SD card, but not in my case.
Hi,
that doesn't sound too good.
Anyhow, I'll experiment with it some more (what else can one do?) to see what is making it crash more or less (wifi/sdcard/simcard/battery?)
I'll post my findings... maybe we can find some mutual thing which might be causing it
I doubt it is software related since my whole machine is wiped clean and has nothing on it
R
yes, me too...and it seems to get worst as time goes by...anyways, I suggest that if you have any warranty left to send it back for warranty. GOodluck!
thats a pretty good point... ;^)
I'll check.
too bad it's quite vague description:
yes, sometimes it doesn't powerup..
you can already see the technicians there... they try it 4 times, it works everytime (of course) , and they send it back with a sticker saying 'correct'
ah well.... lets not get ahead of time.

hi, i didnĀ“t experienced that problem, but when i start up my device, sometimes, the start-up is really slow and the screen gets white but finally, i mena 2 or 3 secondsĀ“ time it becomes normal.

What do u mean with PM?
DId u get the solution?
See ya folks
Solution
Check you PM means check ur private messages
A fellow here with the same problems sent his device for repair and the problem was voltage control unit of mainboard
Solution:
1. Install Pocket Hack Master and go to settings and disable the CPU scaling of the device. Then set it to start at startup. Then clock your device at 312 mhz before turning off the device or closing the clamshell. You can always clock it to 520 while using cpu intensive applications. Just make sure to set it at 312 before turning it off.
thank you buddy
Jumanji1212
Did it also work for you? I forgot to add that I am also using an external charger specifically for Universal because Im afraid charging it via miniusb might mess up the voltage control unit more.
Well, i normally charge it with the ac/dc adaptor but not always. Since i deleted spb diary today plug-in and installed the latest qtek spanish rom and radio, the time of the white-screen shorten.

Hello, I have the same problem (Power button does not start after an auto sleep).
My qtek 9000 however gives a blank screen when playing with the PHM speed tests. (When it is plugged in it works.)
Now I am a little afraid to do the "set it to start at startup"
Is there no risk it will never startup anymore?
Can I do this (temporaly) just for testing without the auto startup option?
So: disable CPU scaling and set the speed on 312 and put it in sleep mode.
I need my Qtek so badly that I get horribly stressed with this kind of things.

I got hack master and can't seem to get over about 340 and my 8525 locks up. wanderng if this was common. I saw another thread on it, but not very informative. Also curious as to what the "actual" speed of the samsung processor is out of the box, and if pocket hack is even getting me anything extra. Thanks

Hermes = 400MHz
In my view PHM is of more use to reduce CPU speed to conserve battery than trying an overclock which at best is reported as 440MHz. I'm also not convinced by the reported MHz values in this programme (for Hermes anyway).
Did you see these two threads?

for me overclock does not work, only underclock, but when I try to set higher frequencies, and my device freeze, after SR something interresting happend. the first configuration wizard appeared to configure device (tap to cros few times, set date, password etc) BUT all data and installed programs was in still in there and worked correctly, only today screen has been reseted, and progs installed on today did not work correctly. contacts, SMS, mails was in there untouched... I did HR but I saw this for first time
