A friend of mine has a Nokia 1600 (really cheap phone) however the Alarm tone was impressive. A voice of a woman telling you to wake up aswell as telling you the exact time! I found it pretty helpful as it speaks out the time some I've always wanted.
Is it possible to have something similar on a WM5 device? This application should be useful for alot of us.
We already have that under our projects list. You can expect the release soon.
Thanx Carty, I hope it sometime soon as my Uni is about to start in couple of weeks and I'd like to have a better Alarm Clock!
I also never come across an Answer Machine Application for Pocket PC's. I'd like to know if there are any such applications available on PPC or Is it just on symbian.
cheers
Its really hard for the Hardware limitations Microsoft has made to record calls due to security and legal issues. But still research is going on to achieve it.. Hope so we find something soon.
And the talking alarm application, we will be releasing it shortly as a freeware in out new site www.PocketPC-Live.com

Wow
This seems like a cool application
So the beta version is ready.
Get it from here..

Maybe we have most powerful device for digital asistance , but still it cant wake up me when i want :? , it is very ironik i have this device but i must use mechanic clock for wake up on time ... Is there any solition except install spb time?
Reload,
1st time poster (old time lurker), so please bear if my data is old. Don't know if this is still usable - but when my XDA II was new i had to install a program called "Wakeup Tweak" or something like that. Thanks to this site and many other sites that helped 'patch' up the bugs of the device.
It made a few changes in the registry to 'allow' the device to wake up when an alarm goes off. Did a quick search here a link:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope it's still usable - goodluck
Thank you Assisi , it looks like for 2003 , my device have 2003 se but i will try i hope it will work
I have found that if you disable the "vibrate" option for the alarm then it works fine.
SPB Time can make matters worse. When it's alarm goes off, it disables the sounds for Events (warnings, system events() and Notifications (alarms, reminders) until you click on "disable" on the little dialog window that comes up when SPB times alarm goes off. The problem is, sometimes it seems to "forget" to reenable these things which creates other annoyances. I'm not sure why SPB has included this "feature" but its enough to make me want to uninstall it sometimes.
this is funny/interesting, coz i'm using my xda2 default alarm feature daily, to wake me up at 5:30, and it works...
buzz
i have 2 xda2 in the household and both suffer from the same problem like the ones in 2003 roms. The first alarm of the day jus refuses to go off when its suppose to ... well occasionally it does but alot of times it just doesnt.
It use to be a simple registry hack to extend the suspend time for housekeeping at midnight everyday, can anyone confirm this is the same issue for 2003SE ?
And by the way, does anyone have a link to the registry hack ... i did a quick search and didnt find what i was looking for
I used to suffer from the same problem on my old rom (1.66). When i upgraded to 2.06, it seemed to be fixed.
Anyway, check here to fix it. It worked for me on the old rom.

Hehehe,, GREATTTTTT!!!!!!!!
fabulous!! a real candidate for my start menu!!
heh yeh thanks for the comments.
I thought it was pretty good fun . But as I say I don't think the missus was too impressed. I'll get some more samples from youtube and add them in. (Thanks for the link jameslovell)
I really want "Say what you see" and "its good but its not right".
I think half the problem of programming in my own time is thinking of apps to write!
looking forward to the extra sounds!
more Catchphrase sounds (+others)
http://chrismoyles.net/mw/soundmachine.shtml
Yeah i had a look at those, they dont sound right though. Sounds like it isnt roy.
Nice
would it be possible to extend this app to allow users to create and choose soundschemes?
There used to be one on the smartphone which was a great laugh
http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-software-applications/117105/spvnoisebox-updated-03-12-v0-9-2b/
I'd be happy to make some themes to share
Sound Effects, Drum Machine, Sirens, Excuses, Ventriloquism
Yeh totally, i will have a proper look into when I get time (hopefully this weekend).
Sounds like a plan, set of audio files and a configuration file with them. I'll get on it!
Interesting app you posted a link to, does it only work on smartphones then?

I have just recently received a shiny new HTC Diamond Touch, after a day or so of having it I thought it was time to create an application. This is what the few minutes during my lunch break at work came up with.
A Catch Phrase sound board! Only 4 samples unfortunately, you wouldn't believe how hard these audio samples are to find.
I can't believe how much fun I have had clicking the Wrong buzzer whenever my girlfriend asks me a question!
Enjoy, the start of many applications to come I hope.
Requires .Net Compact Framework 3.5

Any screenshots?
No screenshots for the moment as the old application was just a test, hacked together in a lunch break.
I am working on a much improved version, all is going well and I should release something this week or this weekend. Unfortunately my free time is lacking at the moment.
The new app will be completely configurable and provide the ability for user created content in the form of button and image themes... all will be explained when I release it.
Thanks.
looking forward to it!!!

Take your time of course and glad it's on the way. Thanks for your time and hard work as always.
I don't understand how this will work, or is it rom dependant? I can't play any sound when I'm on the phone. Tried the app, but can't hear anything. Same with wmp and tf3d player.

Sorry for the late response, you probably know the answer by now ..
It runs but will only play sounds on the d-pad, other sounds were assigned to the keypad.
Touchscreen is so much better ! and the vga resolution deserves to be used to full effect.

Excellent news
No need to rush it, I presume you mean we can change the sounds, not just the buttons and images for Roy
I'm looking forward to it.
Many thanks
Some thoughts ...
It would be really nice to use animated gifs as buttons, that appear to 'play' when activated.
Perhaps it could use the g-sensor a bit like the lightsaber toy - assigning your own sound to a 'shake'.
during a call, could you shake the phone to play a sound that the caller would hear ?
"... must go, there's somebody at the door." <SHAKE>
! DING DONG !
Hi,
Is it possible for someone to supply the Buzzer sound as a wav or MP3 File. My Girlfriend has been using my phone, found this damn program on it, and after several hours of messing with it, now wants the buzzer sound as her message alert tone.
Ive searched the internet where i can, and cant find it. If anyone has it or it can be extracted from the program, or be supplied by the creator, i would be very grateful!
Sean Saunders
Sure here are the sounds
Sorry for the late reply.

Hey, dear guy.
Yesterday I found a great alarm app here, it's called G-Alarm. it owns many great features such as quick alarm, scheduled alarm and launch a program.
I like the scheduled program feature very much.
Suppose this: somebody(maybe your girlfriend) want you wake her up but you two are not at one place, so you should make a phone call to her. But sometimes it maybe too early to do so, cause you must in your own dream at that time. How could you do?
With the scheduled program in G-Alarm, you can add a scheduled launch alarm, then select the application called SmartDialer here, and specify the arguments with the phone number you want to call.
Yes! That's all you could do. Then go to sleep with your warm bed. Cause the G-Alarm will call your girlfriend on time!
What? She can not wake up with only one call? I think you can set more scheduled launch alarms.
Okay, if you like this little application, leave your message here please, thank you!
Yes, it's definitely out of the box idea.....
You should request this though in the appropriate thread to get the attention it deserves.

Great Idea. I might try it out.
Thanks shinyzhu. This is a great idea, and the described use is something that happens to me often. Can't wait to try this out once I get home.

Sounds like a great idea, but what will the person on the receiving end hear when he/she answers the phone.
This is when automation comes into play...
Ah,ha.
Thank you all.
I'm very glad you like this little application.
And there is a secret is, the source code of SmartDialer are only two lines.
A woman inside my Palm Treo 750 used to read me the appointments and reminders out loud when they come due. I can't find a similar sheila in my HD2. Is it a part of WM 6.5 or is there program to install to do this or is it a lost cause?
That isn't a windows feature, probably either something palm included themselves, or maybe you were using a third party appointments program?
Sorry, don't know of anything with that feature myself, but then i'm not a huge software hound, i'm usually happy with the pre loaded apps.
Yep, it was probably a Palm customization. But it was nice!
My missus does that job for me, and doesn't take up any precious system memory!
Sam, , 1pm, do the washing, sam, 1.30 go to teh shop, sam, its 5pm, cook me something.
CAn't say i'm over impressed with the feature myself,,,,,,, hehe
Yeah, but I bet you can't put her in your pocket. It's good when you're talking to someone and your phone in your pocket says; "Call Jack Doe at 1:30"

Think you may be referring to Microsoft Voice Command which doesn't come pre-installed in HD2. This can be found on the forum or purchase a retail version but at the moment doesn't work as it should. There are many threads on this subject.
Hi guys, first post from me so excuse if theres some infos missing what you need, but I'll add as something is asked.
I'm a long user of Nokia phones and just changed my E90 into a Diamond. And the one thing that I really miss is that theres not exactly different profiles to choose from (or made your own). Theres only selections for silent and vibrate, other than the normal selections. And I really miss that from Nokia phones. Just a few simple clicks and phone has a loud theme with a different ringtone and SMS message sound, or then its almost quiet (like when my baby is sleeping).. I think you all get the picture, if you ever had Nokia phones =)
So my reguest is for someone to point out a program or if someone wants to make I would be glad, really glad I think some others would like these too
I could make another post but I'll just add few other programs also to here that maybe someone knows if there exists similar for Diamond
- BestProfiles (enable selected profiles to turn on at some time of day)
- FlipSilent (turn ur phone face-down and its on silent, works for alarming to go snooze)
- Putty (great for symbian phones but I found only programs that arent so good as this is)
Anyways thnx in advantage if someone can help a dude out...
PS. only had HTC for a few days but after starting using it I had to order a data-plan to my mobile and a better battery, but this was off-topic..
Try ageye's G-Profile (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about), you get a fully 14-days working demo and full app is just 5€! One of the most happily money spent ever for my Diamond, now I even have it start playing music when I plugin earphones/carkit and stop when disconnecting!

I just installed it and it seems a fair try, tho it has a lot more possibilitys that i would actually need from a app might even help that dude out to translate it to my native language, like i just did to PocketShield, not finished yet but almost =)
Below again some off-topic, maybe some admin explains to me how to get rid of it =)
