Can anyone tell me how to accept a call while on active sync. I always lose them when i either unplug the cable or try to answer when connected???
Am I missing something? :?

Hi, I use my MSN quite abit but have noticed that even when I have left my phone on, logged in to MSN, when I revisit it later I notice that I've either been logged off or that I apear logged on but am not, and when I go to change my status I can't and have to log back in again.
I've installed the latest MSN update and have not tried or tested for this since. I just wonder if this is a common problem as I want to run my website support through this service butcan't if I keep getting cut off.
Thanks
Paul.
I gather you're using Pocket Version of MSN Messenger Service on Xda II? Well, as I do not know exactly your network setup, I could suggest a few reasons why MSN logs you off.
1) If you're on USB passthrough or WiFi, and if the phone is set to turn off if not used for a certain minutes - You MSN will lose connection when your device's power is turned off.
2) There's another session probably on your desktop PC loggin in, that logs you out from the Pocket session.
3) MSN server disconnection.
However, I think #1 is the usual suspect.
Also, if you answered a call, you'll lose your GPRS connection, and MSN will disconnect...
The thing I hate about it? If someone sent you a message, and you have not read it yet - but got disconnected, it dissappears. =(
I've since swiched to Agile Messanger; only thing I dont' like about it is I can't 'mark' text to copy & paste somewhere else...
Hi
Apologies for this, but I thought it better to bump this post than start a new thread asking about it again. Basically I get the exact problem as orininally described.
When connected on GPRS, I sign on to MSN Messenger. In under 5 minutes of idle activity I have been disconnected from MSN, but unless I attempt to open a conversation or change my status it is not evident. Even after several hours the contact list is still visible as if I am still connected. When I tap a contact that appears online to start a conversation, MSN then realises its offline and drops back to the sign-in screen.
If I am constantly using MSN, such as having a lengthy conversation, MSN stays online.
I can confirm that during the idle time when MSN does disconnect, GPRS is constantly connected and has not been interrupted by a call. MSN does not seem to be very useful on my phone unless I want an immediate conversation, otherwise within a few short minutes its offline.
From the looks of things MSN does not appear to be sending a ping out to keep its connection alive when idle, and just stays in a dead state until used again... thus the MSN server disconnects it. Is there any way to fix this behaviour or is there no such problem if I switch to Agile Messenger?

Hi,
Somebody please help me.
Iam not able to recieve any files from anyone using bluetooth. On the senders screen, it discovers my phone but if you send something, it says sending failed. Does this have anything to do with beam option? sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt? Any resolutions..? I have my bluetooth on and on discoverable mode, i have unchecked the pass key option. Please help..
thanks/..
nishant
did you enable incomin connection?
IT is all about "Beams". You must be set up to receive Incoming Beams. I know it is confusing as we all assume that is related to InfraRed Beams, but "NO", it applies to Bluetooth as well.
But be warned, with Incoming Beams ticked, it can drain your battery, so I only switch it on when I need to receive a file.
Ok, I am going to sound fairly foolish I know; but have been trying to look for a way of stopping active sync prior to disconnecting the USB cable from the Exec. There is no such option on the phone under the Active Sync Menu items (in fact, the only one highlighted is 'Status', all others are greyed out). No option on the Active Sync 4.1 on the PC either. Tried to stop the device by going to the USB manager but no option for the Exec.
Usually I have just been yanking the USB cable out of the Exec but fear that may not be the optimum solution. Am sure there is another way but am too daft to notice and this irks me some.
Anyone who can shed any light on this? Thanks a lot.
Cheers, Vikas
Try this from the WiKi pages:
How can I stop Active Sync from always turning-on even when it is not connected to my PC?
Go to menu->add server source->write down any server address (fake)->complete procedure then menu->schedule->switch to manually (at the top of the list)
You can delete the created server after you configure your schedule. This only stops active sync from opening automatically when not connected via USB, but it does not stop active sync from actually syncing every 5 minutes or so when connected to your computer via USB.
I am not sure which one you want to stop, but this suggestion saves your precious memory and battery as well.
That fix works a treat as well, I did this on my Pro and all is fine although I did not have to create a server account as I actually use a hosted Exchnage account, but only wanted to sync when I wanted to not automatically.
Thanks Christian, appreciate it. Tried out your suggestion and it seems to work though I was unable to delete the fake server address entered.
Actually, wanted to know what is the best procedure to follow if my Exec is connected to the PC with the USB cable, and I have synced my data. After that, I wish to disconnect. In that case, do I just take the USB cable out of the Exec or should I first try and disconnect some other way and THEN take the cable out? Thanks.
Cheers, Vikas.

Hi Vikas,
You can delete the created exchange server by:
Active Sync>Options>Highlight the name of the server you want to delete>Tap Delete>Tap YES to the prompt message
There is no icon nor menu to disconnect if you are connected via USB to your computer. Just make sure that your Universal is idle and not currently syncing before you unplug it from the USB. You can also press the OFF button then pull out the USB cable if you prefer.
Dear Christian,
Thanks a ton, really appreciate it. Will do as you suggest and follow the instructions.
Will check and see that the computer is not syncing before disconnecting the USB cable to the Exec.
Thanks a lot again.
Cheers, Vikas.

I've got my MDA Vario 2, and I'm very happy with it!
But, I have recently noticed that the phone doesn't accept incoming calls when connected to my PC via ActiveSync (I usually leave it connected during the day to keep it charging and so forth). Incoming calls go straight to voicemail. Outgoing calls work fine.
If I disconnect from the PC, I get incoming calls without problem.
Does anybody know if this is something I've done, or how I can get it to work properly?
Wierd problem. Anyway, which version of ActiveSync your using?
Make sure you soft reset your Wizard Often. Since I used my Wizard all the time, I soft reset mines at least once a day. I run push email from my work exchange server so it's always running active sync via Edge/GPRS. I noticed that if I didn't soft reset once in a while, all calls would go to voicemail automatically. But now it seems to work ok with soft resetting often. Not sure why I have to do this.. But it's a solution for me.
