Hi There ,
Got an XDA EXEC with a 4GB storage card.
I want to sync folders of files on my storage card with my PC.
How do I do this ?
Thanks.
Search for "WM5torage" =)
This will turn your Universal into a glorified card reader.
I believe the Linux kernel includes support for Mass Storage Devices, and has for a long time.

Hi all!
Quick (I hope) question.
I have a M1000 that I have been using with a Kingstone 128MB SD Card. I also have a PC with one of these multiple card reader built in (6-1 I think they call it).
When I put my Kingstone card in the PC 6-1 a window open automatically with the card content.
Now I have finally bought a 1GB SD card from Billionton (48x) on eBay.
When I put the Billionton in my PDA everything seems fine, I can see the card and record on it.
When I put the card in my PC it can't read it at best, if I try to turn it on with the card inserted windows get stuck before login... (I am using XP)
I can see the GB card only through ctive Sync.
What can be the reason for it? Updating the drivers on my 6-1 is not an option... I have already looked for them...
If the solution is "formt the card" can u suggest a SW that I can use from my PDA?
Thank you!
Chris
read here about some sdcard readers which dont support SD cards with surden fs's on them

Which is faster to transfer files to an SD Card?
1)
Via cable mounting the SD card as a drive.
Via resco and Wifi
Or a card reader.

Is there a way to disable recent progs on the menu? Just bugs me

They do a util that turns your device into a Mass Storage SDCard reader.. much faster than activesync AND you dont have to remove your SD.
THANKS
Can now noumt my the phone as a mass storage device good good. before i buy a use 2 card reader would the speed diff be much different between the cable and reader?
I didn't notice a difference between using my card reader and using the ppc directly with this util.
I copied around 700mb to it and it didn't take too long atall, theres a 21day tril on the website give it a go
I was trying to find a faster way to downloading video to my MiniSD card so I used the adapter and stuck it into my SD port on my laptop. The laptop recognized the card as being unformatted and offered to format the card. It was the phone that formatted the card and so I'm wondering how it formatted the card for use. I don't suppose there is a way for my laptop to recognize the card without formatting it? Further, I'm having problems syncing files larger than 300MB into the card. When I tried, active sync would shut down. That was the reason that first got me to try to use the adapter and my laptop.
AFAIK Windows Mobile formats Storage Cards as FAT16. This file system is readable for all Versions of Microsoft Windows.
The fact that your card reader does not recognize the file system makes me believe that it's not fully compatible to your mini SD card. You could try to format the card in your reader. Maybe you're happy and it works after that.
If not, go and get an other card reader.
Active Sync is not the application to use for transferring huge files. It is known to be quite instable. Maybe a more recent version of AS might help, or a direct USB storage driver for your 8125 like 'WM5torage' for example.

Hello All,
Is there a way to connect my M3100 to my laptop so that the Storage Card appears as a Mass Storage Device?
Nokia Maploader insists on this config to install Country Maps.

WM5Storage didn't work for me.
But what is possible is the following (how I did it):
1. Install Smart2Go on a storage card in the hermes and launch it (even if it doesn't find/download anything).
2. Remove the MicroSD card.
3. Insert it in a cardreader (I used a MicroSD -> SD Adapter, and then plugged it in an SD slot in my laptop)
4. Launch MapLoader.
It will find the storage card (but for it to do so, you need to have launched Smart2Go first), and allow you to download the maps to it.

Hi
I have read the thread about problems experienced by Media player not recognizing bigger SD cards. My problem is that my XDA doesn't recognise the card at all.
I know the card works (Sandisk 4GB) as I have tried it elsewhere.
The solution to the Windows Media problem was to delete a rogue file. Shall I delete this file or is it a hardware problem ?
Cheers
SDHC cards are only supported with Windows Mobile 6.
Could you be a bit more specific what version you have?
XDA did not recognise 4gb MicroCard
The WM6 one is a good obvious one.
Also I did not see what PC OS you are using.
If vista, the 1st time you sync the 4mb card in the phone, I had vista want to format the card. ..RUN AWAY !
If I ignore that, it is fine.
If you format the card it will likely not work (without another format, or worse)..

Thanks for the info on the card and WM6
I think that is it. I'll go and buy another card !
Cheers
Try to flash the Radio Rom. I know it sounds totally weird but I did that and suddenly it recognized the card.
