I have a Qtek S200, which is stuck in the boot sequence. what i beilieve is unique about my situation is that i am able to sucessfully flash updates roms, but even before i messed with anything the problem began. the strange thing about what is happening is on the boot scree where it should show all the rom versions, the 'GSM' line is missing. this seems to happen randomly, but most of the time, and the phone never goes beyond that screen, it just eventually goes all white, then reboots. i have flashed with older and newer radio roms, and have finally flashed with the newest dopod rom (2.15) with no change in the situation. does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Mike
maybe you can try this one
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=444&PN=1
or downgrade to a v1 rom and see if you get to boot all the way
Now you issue could be something else but what you can do to make sure (to a certain level) that the GSM radio is the culprit is take out the SIM card and try to turn on the device. This way radio would not be initialized and if radio is the problem, this way device should boot up successfully.
I have had this problem with my older JAM and had to take it to service center (They said radio was sucking in too much power and making the device to reset itself.)

If I have overlooked the thread that covered this situation, please just point me to it as I have made several searches and read several threads but no luck.
I was happily running a custom 2003 ROM with the original AT&T stack. As I was quite happy with the way my 2003 OS was configured and operating, I decided to just try the NEW AT&T radio stack as I wanted to see if it helped with some reception issues I have expereinced. I copied the four radio stack files to the Windows directory on the PPC. I had the PPC in its cradle for power. I then executed the RSUupgrade and at 10% it locked down completely. No hard key had any effect and in fact, not even the soft boot buttom worked. I then attempted a cold reboot and that resulted in a hung machine again.
So, I decided to take the safe route and do an SD flash burn back to the original AT&T ROM (which I had copied way back when). Using XDA Tools I burned it to my SD card. Did the soft/on button routine, and proceeded to flash the memory. If indicated that the checksum matched and was finished. After the cold reboot, I got the old splash screen, but it took forever for the today screen to appear and the START button as well as ALL the indicators at the TOP are missing. I am unable to get to file manager.
I then decided to see if I could connect via ActiveSync. I uninstalled AS3.7. and reinstalled the original 3.5. When I attempt to connect, AS does see that the PPC has been docked, but it is never able to connect.
So, I am unable to reinstall a radio stack of any kind. I am unable to get the OS to function normally.
BTW, Just for grins I also tried an SD card install of the newest AT&T ROM as well as my custom ROM and the results are all the same. I suspect the now corrupted radio stack, but HOW do I purge it and start over when I can't get the OS to boot sufficiently to reinstall the stack
ANY IDEA? HELP!!!
Come on, someone has to have an idea
I will start off with an update. After reading another thread, someone mentioned that initial boot was taking about 15 minutes when there was NO radio stack. I decided to see if that might be occurring to me and sure enough, after about 15 minutes, the PPC beeped and the OS came up. If was still a bit sluggish, but operational. I was able to successfully attach to my PC via ActiveSync.
Now for the downside. Still NO success with installing the radio stack. I have tried reflashing the OS back to the original AT&T PPC2002 OS but that made no difference. I have tried both the original radio stack and the new one, no difference. I have tried to install the stack with the SIM card (SIM not SD) in and out, no difference. It always sticks at 1%, tells me the upgrade failed and to press ok to reboot. I did read the thread that gave LOTS of help regarding this issue, but nothing seems to help. I can remove the lnk in the startup folder, delete the files, reboot, recopy via ActiveSync, start the upgrade (RSUpgrade.exe) and everytime it immediately goes to 1%, sets there a minute or so, the pops up the failure message.
Surely, someone has an idea. Could a corrupt SIM cause this? Is there a alternate way of installing the radio stack?
BTW, just for grins, I thought I would try doing a "normal" exe upgrade since AT&T posted such. I know that it is full of risk, but at this point, I had little to loose. I made sure that I was running ActiveSync 3.7.1 and was connected. I then launched the upgrade. It came up with a splash screen with some warnings and the typical stuff. I then selected the "next" button and nothing happened except that cursor (when pointing in the window) went into the "working" state where it remained until I finally killed it about 30 minutes later. There was NEVER any sign that progress was being made.
HELP!!!

I have the same exact problem.
The Start menu is missing. No Icons on the top bar.
What's funny is that the screen seems to be inverted.
When I tap close to the bottom of the screen, the clock setting screen appears.
Anybody have a solution?
I suspect there is an alignment problem
When I first boot up after ROM upgrade, I can get to the today screen with the volume button, but I can't get to the file explorer because the start menu is missing.
When I tap on the lower part of the screen, the upper part responds.
Could this be due to the alignment steps being bypassed?
What order do you have to tap the alignment crosshairs during startup?
This sounds like a different problem
As I mentioned, on my first reflash of the OS after the radio stack upgrade failure, I got the today screen without the start bar at the top (ie it was totally blank and tapping in that area did nothing). Everything else on the today page worked. On subsequent reflashes of the OS, the today page was totally normal, start button, everything in place and working. On those subsequent reflashes, I also got the normal initial screen alignment pages on the first boot after the reflash.
I will also post, that I finally gave up on getting the radio stack to install. I have sent my unit to the guys at PPCTechs. In talking to them, they have 2 other SX-56 units in for upgrades with the same radio stack issue. They feel that they will be able to force the reflash via alternate means using a serial cable. As I mentioned on the other thread where I have been posting, I will post back once I hear if they were successful.

in general people should not mess with radiostacks unless they have issues and the radiostack is recommended by the phonecompany one use
Hi all,
im experiencing this strange error.

phone was OK few days ago, no hardware damage at sight, customer did not hit it.
whats the step by step procedure to discard software problem??
thanks
Could it be the radio was flashed wrongly?
You might want to flash the radio.
See, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440503
Some people may have problems with this.
If you experience heavy bateery drain with that, i recommend you to downgrade to 3.21.90.
But for some, it works very well.
i tested this rom and phone act the same, phone mode goes from airplane to normal phone mode but without registering any network
i saw other users experience the same problem, im sure is a sw problem but not how to solve, any other idea?
what other radio rom are available for elfin?
now phone is
IPL 3.14
SPL 3.10
I have experienced very heavy battery drain in 3.14.
What problems do you have now?
The phone still on and off?
there is no battery problem, phone is on and off like crazy.
is there a way i can full erase the phone and start all from scratch?
You can change the software totally by flashing to Onyx Micro.
That is the lightest rom and basically it has almost nothing, except for basic stuff.
So go and test it out.

Read post 7 and 8.
See whether the instructions works out for you.
hi
i did all the steps referred in this post and problem remains.
what is most strange is that despite i flash with all roms here and there, the provider logo stays, then the logo of the rom i flash.
has this something to do with my problem?
The provider of the logo is normal.
Its just for trademarking the phone.
This is a motherboard problem where your phone's frequency is scrambled. I have the same problem and now i am thinking about replacing the motherboard
Good morning,
my tytn not work properly. I'cant call because the gsm module don't work. IN the device setting of windows mobile there is no info about imei and gsm module and when switch on or reset the phone, the ROM version in down left show "NONE" for Radio component.
I try to force an update with the shaps rom 3.54 but the update STOP with error code [260]. Boot loader showed is SPL-1.09.dl
Thank for help
Its a common problem with the 8525/TYTN. The radio chip on the motherboard is BAD. There are several posts regarding this issue. No matter how many flashes/rom updates will fix the problem. Had this on my TYTN I and I had to replace the motherboard.
As a last ditch effort you can attempt to flash a stock rom it may jump start it. I will tell you this process when the radio stack is bad may or may not work in fact it could brick your phone if you don't have HardSPL installed. What will happen is you will start to flash and it will start and get stuck at about 11 or 15% then hang up. If you try to reboot you will get the tri color screen and thats it.
If you love your phone and don't want to upgrade look for a good (ask a lot of questions) phone replacement thats in bad condition and swap the motherboard.
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help!
OK, first of all I'll admit quite openly that my knowledge of flashing and so on isn't what you'd call strong so any accusations of being a n00b are warranted and accepted.
I got my HD2 in Jan and I'd flashed a few handsets before without issue so flashed the HD2 pretty much straight away and played with some ROM's and so on and settled on one (from memory Dutty ROM) and everything was fine, the phone was stable and everything was good.
Then 2 weeks the handset started acting oddly. I hadn't changed anything (as far as I'm aware) but the phone starting freezing, restarting and so on. I'd have to take the battery out to restart it (and sometimes leaving the battery out for a while before it'd boot up.) When it froze the area around the bottom of the battery would also warm up. I'd also notice that if I tried doing something on the handset it would restart - almost as if I was putting to much "strain" on the handset and it went *bang*.
I decided to hard reset the phone and it went back to original form. Now, I'll again admit this is probably down to my lack of knowledge, I assumed this put the handset back to a factory state but this is probably not the case (it certainly looked like it but some signs suggested it hadn't).
This seemed to improve things a little but the problems just came back. As I'd flashed it and put on the HSPL I thought the warranty was now invalid so thought I'd try and "fix" it myself.
Big mistake.
Or was it?
I think the phone has an issue with power or something like that as it freezes as I've said. And it did this while I was trying to flash a ROM. Panic then set in.
Basically my handset is now in a state where it'll boot into the bootloader (power and Vol down) three colour splash screen and it'll do the white HTC "normal" boot up screen but nothing else.
I can connect to the handset via RUU and I can run:
Task 29
however this doesn't run and finish gracefully most of the time. It'll stick on 99% or 100% or sometimes it'll moan about not being able to do this on this handset.
Any ROM I now try to flash on it using the exe's or RUU (I've not tried them all, granted!) starts and stick at a certain percentage. The Artemis ROM sticks at 12%, Official 1.43 WWE ROM sticks at 0% and Leon ROM sticks at 9%. Eventually they'll time out with an error. Unfortunately I left the handset at work so cannot state which error(s) I get when trying to flash a ROM.
So, after boring the hell out of you, is the handset terminally ill in your opinion? I really do think that there could be a faulty power button/general power issue with the handset (just a feeling I've got) but from my brief reading I'm not 100% sure.
Is there anything I could do? At the moment it's completely unusable so any suggestions on getting it into a working state? Ideally I'd like to get it into a state where I could return it to O2 UK and not have them flag the fact it's been flashed.
Any help gratefully received!
can you get into bootloader? if so, check the spl.
if it is 1.42.0000 or 1.66.0000 then the warranty is fine.
if the spl ends .hspl then connect to usb and run hspl 2.
choose whatever was your stock spl (one that ends 0000, 1.42.0000 most likely)
reboot to boot loader, and confirm the spl ends 0000 and you will be fine.
have same problem!
my hd2 freezed on startup screan, boot screan, sometime donot start - only black screan, after rom flash 99percent or 100percet once freezed when i return stock rom and spl, sometime dont want to boot with 1.42hspl, next time with 1.66, but my experinece is :
1.
-with 2.08hspl allways start
-uninstal your hd2 driver on your computer! restart your computer install after that, with windows update,
-same with bootloader mode, uninsta, driver on your computer, restart your comp, and install it
-turn off your antivirus protector when install any rom, and your run as administrator in windows 7,vista.
2. use other pc if this dont help
3. the problam can be with battery pins under cover.
some people write there with pins problem, they have screaved pins and hd2 dont want boot or start or have same problems
its my secondary problem
if u want u can use clasical gum ereaser and lightly clean pins and battery conectors...
its help for better contact
donot take the pins with wet hands!!
its can make litle corosi..
i belive its help to you
sorry for my english

Samsamuel, you're an utter *star*.
Now back to 1.42.0000. I can blag O2 now if needs be in regards to the handset (tried upgrading to 1.72, USB cable came out, phones shagged, give me a new one, etc) without them getting funny about it if needs be.
Will try upgrading to 1.72 stock O2 ROM and see what happens.
Thanks again Samsamuel, I owe you a pint!
I have the exact same problem.
The screen freezes for a while, and then the device reboots.
Usually it's stuck on the white (with green "HTC") screen after that, the red text doesn't show up.
If I remove the battery and leave the device alone for a while (cool down?) it boots past the white screen (although it's highly likely that it crashes again when I enter my pin).
At first this was only happening when I was watching some video's with coreplayer, but now it's just happening all the time, even when it's in my pocket.
I just finished flashing a stock rom, but it's even worse now
9 out of 10 times it doesn't even make it to the pin screen, and I have spend about 2 minutes total actually in windows mobile.
Brood, it sounds like your issue is hardware related, I would contact htc too look into getting it repaired.
Just an update from OP.
Thanks for the link ilijan, very interesting.
I spoke to O2 business tech support yesterday and deliberately asked whether anyone else was complaining of this issue. They said no but I'm unsure whether I believe them and whether this was just the corporate line.
After setting my SPL back to 1.42.0000 I tried flashing to 1.72 stock and this did work. Every other ROM I tried wouldn't work. Even with the official ROM it's still freezing/restarting.
Getting a refurb today.
Thanks to all that responded/helped. Appreciated.
Okay so I got an EVO so I could flash to Boost (figured it mostly out) however I have another issue. My phone keeps rebooting even after a fresh ruu install (undoing all my work flashing), someone said it sounds like my modem firmware doesn't match the android software and to flash it to stock however I've tried three different RUU exe's so far and none seem to work, I've tried RUU 4.53.651.1, 4.54.651.1 and 4.67.651.3... I don't remember what exact software it had when I got it but I know it had radio 2.15.00.08.08 but even when I first got the phone I still saw a few random reboots so I wonder if it had the right software to begin with (such as maybe the seller flashed an incorrect image). My hardware version is 003 and hboot is 2.16.0001 and I do have s-off but due to the RUU attempts do not have CWM if that info helps.
So is there another way to flash it to stock I should try? Or could the problem be something else? If I manage to put the phone into airplane mode before it reboots it does stop it from rebooting btw. Sometimes the reboots are very infrequent, sometimes they happen before the phone is even fully booted (at the splash screen) and will reboot several times before fully booting.
I am having the same problem it appears... the phone is stock as far as I know and it keeps rebooting... So if anyone knows the answer please share...
