ee-stat update - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi,
I received my Universal yesterday
And I found out that ee_stat looked like crap when in landscape mode. So I fixed it.
Bye!

Hi, What is this "ee_stat" thing?

It's a very small battery/memory monitor which sits on the bottom of the screen. It's visible trough all applications (except TomTom).
copy the exe to you pda and place a shortcut to it \windows\startup.
Look at the picture at the bottom.

Getting rid of the bottom of the today screen

Hi,
I've looked, clicked and sworn at it, but I just don't know how to get rid of the small bar at the very bottom of the today screen, just above the softkey indicators. At the moment it just has the (standard t-mobile) mini battery icon and the mini connection icon.
I've got no idea where the controller for this part of the today screen is. I'd really love to get rid of it altogether and have a few extra pixels for pocketplus. It just seems to be totally wasted screen real estate for me. I see other people have got useful stuff in this area, if there's a personalisation programme out there for it, please hit me up.
Cheers,
Chris
If you just want to remove those icons - which removes the tray as well - see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40133
If you want to remove it altogether, try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331
And if you want to customize the tray with icons to specific apps, try "PHM TrayLaunch" - it's part of the PHM PowerToys - can probably be ripped out somehow and made stand-alone.
Sorry guys, ToggleToday is still WM2003 only right now. I'll update as soon as I get a few minutes. It's complicated to write, since the tray gets refreshed on screen rotations etc. And I'm just too busy to deal with it properly right now Soon...

Hey, thanks very much guys
PHM TrayLaunch looks like a very useful app, but I'm struggling to successfully add programs/icons. For example, if I want to have ActiveSync as one of the icons in the tray, does anyone know what should be entered as the "target"?
I'm afraid I don't have my phone in front of me, but trying navigating through your \windows\start menu and checking the properties for existing shortcuts.
Eg Find activesync, display properties, and it will display the target for the shortcut. That's your baby.

oops
Unfortunately I can't find a way to display properties for a shortcut - Explorer's "tap & hold" menu only allows you to cut/copy/paste etc - there's no "properties" window like there is on normal PC-Windows.
Fork, try gsfinder or another explorer replacement.
Also try having a read through this:

Thanks Vijay, I've downloaded Resco Explorer 2005 but cannot find the ActiveSync shortcut anywhere on my device! Does anyone know what the shortcut is to start ActiveSync?
It's not obvious!
\windows\replog.exe
V
Thanks for the reply Vijay, but replog.exe doesn't exist anywhere on my device.
Sorry, missed one letter
"\windows\repllog.exe" on my Universal.
V
Thanks Vijay, bizarely repllog.exe doesn't show up in my Windows folder using Resco Explorer, but setting this as the path gives me an ActiveSync icon in the tray - so it's obviously finding it.
Unfortunately, clicking the icon doesn't launch ActiveSync. It briefly displays "Connect to" in the top title bar before disappearing, and the Today page remains onscreen all the time.
Any other suggestions you can think of?
Thanks,
Fork, it depends on what state the activesync app is in at the time. It doesn't always like to show itself in my experience as well. Not entirely sure why. Sometimes when you're disconnected it will show, sometimes when you're connected it'll show?
In resco, ensure you're displaying hidden files, system files and rom files.
V
Thanks Vijay, I hadn't spotted that option in Resco Explorer - it shows up now.

Homescreen, Todayscreen, Themes?

I've been using an SDA (Tornado I *think) for the last year or so, and became quite adept at editing the xml to create my own 'homescreens'. What's the equivalent on the Wizard? I don't find the same directory structure for the location of the homescreen.xml file(s) and assume there's a slightly different way of doing this. Or is it a theme now? Is it xml based, or are there editors I can use? Any assistance is welcome
Try using Themegence (google for it, you'll find it). It's how I make my today screens and I have about 215 of them on my phone at last count. It's very easy to use once you try it a time or 2.
Thanks Xeno - the lastest version I could find was 2.0 - sound good? (Oh, and I upgraded to wm6 using SN2 - no problems there I assume?).
edit: I'm trying this out, and it all seeems to work except the part where I save and build the tsk file. All of the save buttons are greyed out? And I can't save anything. I've tried both the qvga and vga p/l formats and don't see why I can't save the tsk file to the pc. Thanks
Hmm, never had a problem with the save to pc one being greyed out, only the one with save to ppc and that's only if I'm not connected to activesync. Try hooking your phone up to activesync and see if that allows you to save it to your pc after that. There are 2 save buttons at the top, one for save to ppc which if you aren't connected over activesync, it will be greyed out and the other one to it's right is the save to pc button. The only other thing I can think of that might cause any problem like that is that maybe you haven't chosen a Dir where to saveit to, or named it. Those fields are at the bottom left hand corner. You can leave the Internal Theme Name blank though if you want.
Yes, it works fine with WM6. I also have WM6 on my phone and never had a problem.
One tip for you that I didn't know about the first time I used it though is that you have to go to the WM5 tab and click on the base hue button to chose the colors that you want for your top and bottom bars. You also have to check the "create base hue key for theme" check box or you won't get the colors you chose. The main color page is i guess for 2003 and really the only colors you can choose from there are the text color for the today text and the start menu text, the today screen horizontal bars color, and the tap and hold dots color. I don't think changing any of the other colors on that page will actually do anything, at least not that I've ever noticed on my phone anyway.
Let me know if you still have any problems and I'll see if I can help you out with them.

The only way I could get the buttons active was to load a theme from the phone. Then I could modify it and save it. I verified the directory I had set to save to. I was (and am) connected via active sync. I'll keep playing around, no doubt it's some stupidly fundamental thing I'm doing wrong. Thanks.
edit: Ahha!, it was a matter of selecting an image correctly. I was using a p/l setting, but not setting up the 'start' image for those modes. Once I set all of the p/l/start/today images, voila, it could be saved. Thanks a ton Xeno. Btw - on my sda, I'd code the xml to call plugin's - it looks like with the wizard I just install them, and then put check boxes by the ones that I want to show up? Oh, and what format do you use for the wizard? Is it QVGA or VGA?
Glad you got it figured out. The wizard is QVGA. You use the one that is (240x294, 320x214). I put all of mine on my SD card in the root folder and they show up in the today app (start-->settings-->today). You can chose what today items you want under the Items tab in the today app also. There's no more xml codeing for the today screen now that you have ppc, those days are gone.

How to put programs in the today screen.

Yeah peeps, as the title says i'm trying to put my pocketmusic shortcut as an icon on the today screen. Is it possible?
Try start menu/settings/todayscreen and then the second tab on the bottom. Then check the list for your program and if its there then check the box and this should put it on the today screen.
This list only shows today plugins. Not programs.

Exactly.
I tried a couple of tweak programs and stuff, but nothing worked. I saw a screenshot in this forum last week. It was the Xperia today screen with the pocketmusic player sitting right there. How can this be done?
Try using the other pannel of X1, it also comes along with the desk top customization which you can choose the program or applpication to be shortcut Or else try using some top up program like SPB Pocket plus.

[THE] Lanscape Icons (Sketchy style)

Hey all! First off, I DID NOT create these icons. I merely swapped over .png's from an existing icon set provided by..........????? Well, I'm not sure who created this, I came across them not too long ago and have been searching for a landscape version since. Very much thanks to the original creator and I hope you don't mind what i've done here. I don' know how to make .cab files so you'll need to place these files into your \Windows folder manually. Remember to back-up your existing manila files in order to remove mine later (To remove mine just overwrite my manila files with your original ones.) Also, If you can't see the files in the folder, make sure you are able to view hidden files or folders on your CPU.
i like em. do you have any for portrait?
Here's portrait icons. It comes with a green cursor so I included the transparent slider I use as well. Install the cursor 2nd. Again, much thanks to the creator of this icon set as well as Pamas for the slider.

Sketchy style looks great. I like the icons.
If I copy all files inside windows, do I have than a Landscape mode. I just ask a stupid question because, my homescreen will not turn for it self.
Once in a while it turns but than it shows me on the left half side the screen tf3d but without slider (Tab). On the other side it shows just scratching something (can´t describe it).
thx for you help
If you are using a Diamond than no, my landscape files will not give you landscape mode. They are for TP users. The portrait mode icons will work for both diamond and TP. I suggest that you remove the landscape manila files and you should be fine.
I tried it and it doesn´t work. I use touch HD. Do you have any idear how to get a Landscape mode for HD because I open a thread with "Show me your Landscape screen" and they said that I have to Flash another rom, what I don´t want yet (because of Garanty).
Does it not give another way? I like to have you own because for my theme I use sketchy icons (Tabbar) and this Landscape will complete my theme.
thx

How to activate screensaver?

I use Chronos (a clock program) as my screensaver. I also use Spb PocketPlus for my home screen rather than the stock HTC home screen.
I'm trying to find the command in the software that invokes the screensaver so I can put a link to it on my home screen. I cannot find anything that works in the Windows folder (like scrnsaver in XP).
I also use TweakHD, but can't find anything in there.
Anybody know where this might be found? If I activate to the chronos.exe file, it brings up the full program with the settings indicator, etc. so that I can't dismiss it just by touching it. That's why I'm trying to find the command within the OS that invokes the screensaver.
Thanks.

screensaving with pdas means switching off the screen. you will not have much fun with a device that is switched on all the time, because your battery will be drained in less than a day. so there´s no switch to use to activate a screensaver like at your computer at home
