Hi.
I dont know what is causing it, but it seems, that my SPV M1000 is REALLY SLOW on some occasions.
Having unlocked it, and after that installed tomtom2. I've been using it, and can see that there are problems with the update rate, etc.
there is a 32MB SC/MMC card installed.
Device info says:
Operater version: 3.66.4.150
ROM version : 1.66.00WWE
ROM date : 02/20/04
Radio Version : 1.10.00
Protocol version : 1337.18
ExtROM version : 1.66.150
it was unlocked with xdaUnlock2
The problem is that it appears flakey, sometimes it works flawlessly, and other times it comes to stuttering/ laggy halt. Even using the contact list showed lagginess (I think tomtom2 was running in the background), in that the lines in the contact list was updated one at a time, with around 1-3 seconds between each update..., updates on the tomtom2 map appears to take forever sometimes, and this can happen at both max and min zoom levels (although the problem is most apparent at min zoom levels).
Does anyone know a cure, or have experienced something similar? Would it help to install tomtom3? (some says its more reliable, but I've seen others using tomtom3, where a land mass became a swampy area ... well at least at some of the highest zoom-out levels.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards : Jacob Eskildsen / eskildsen

get a different phone?
Are you saying your battery is dead 1 day after continuously having this program activated? If so, I'm amazed the battery lasted that long! How old is your device and battery? Does the battery charge o.k. when it's plugged to a charger?
Hi Hotdog,
Thanks for your reply.
My device is 1 year old and the battery drains even when the phone is inactive(battery charges just fine).
Before installing NBD, the battery lasted like 3 days (not really an active user of the phone) and now only 1 day.
Am i the only person experiencing this issue around the forums??
Device info:
ROM version 6.6.6.666 WWE
ROM date 8/23/07
RADIO version 02.19.11
Protocol version 4.1.1309
MDA Vario T-mobile AKU2 model.
Thx.

Ive seen many people with this problem. all I can suggest to you is, lower rom numbers on WM6 use up the battery faster. I dont know why that is but that is the trend.
Im not suggesting you go out there and get 2.69 radio rom. the higher you go the more unstable the rom is. all Im saying is, it might be the radio rom mixed with WM6. try a reflash back to wm5 and see if battery is back to 3 days.
One other thing you can try is drain the battery completely, recharge it fully, drain it a second time and recharge it fully again. sometimes when you flash the battery memory gets messed up, it's happened to me once.

Thanks for the reply elmetal!
That brings me to my second question,
Is there a Radio ROM out there for my T-mobile that is stable and runs smooth under NBD 8.0?
What comes after RADIO version 02.19.11? 2.69 radio rom?
I did actually flash back to the original T-mobile NL ROM (latest version)
And there the battery is functioning as expected.
(you can really tell, in the afternoon, the battery is almost at 50% with NBD)
Thank you so much for your help! really appreciated.

hmm.. I never focus much on tmobile users with radio problems, more cingular users. some say the 2.47 works, some say the 2.69 is flawless, I personally use the cingular 2.25.11. it's the stock cingular rom and it works fine.
Im gonna give the forum a good look for tmobile radio rom threads and ill redirect you
I suggest you try the cingular 2.25.11 (being that tmobile in the us uses a lot of cingular towers) since its really really stable.
EDIT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314235&highlight=t+mobile+radio+rom
try that, its a decent thread on the ROM workin in the UK, Im not exactly sure where you're stationed but the point is this, there's probably an existing thread out there.
Only thing is, many different people have many different results. Updating Radio ROMs is a little dangerous for me cus the calls I receive can be very important so I try not to mess with it.
Install a new radio rom, leave your phone in standby for a few hours and test texting and calling to see if itll wake up on its own, some roms wont work well. trial and error
Goodluck!

Point taken
Will do some more research on Tmobile Dutch(Netherlands) Radio Roms to see if that helps.
Thanks for all the effort elmetal!
Nope it's not the Radio Rom 2.19 is the most stable and loses less energy.
The 2.69 radio Has more problems keeping the signal so it uses more energy to maintain the signal, and of course you might lose some calls here and there.
Earlier posts do indeed have the classic basic Battery drain tips.
But what about deleting the items from the Windows\StartUp folder?
Flash a fully loaded battery.
How about borowing my new battery and see if it makes a difference since my wizard is on repair.
Some users even have reported that 8.2 actually was better on the battery then 8.3.
Some believe that it might have something to do with the memory leak problem most Wizard roms have issues with. Keeping more memory reffreshed does require more power. So try to set the weather plug in to only update mannualy set the homescreen to not time out. Or try setting up the included smartskey to overclock instead of Battery status althought i don't think that battery status causes isseus.
Or do a Combo. Drain the battery recharge it perform a hard reset or clear storage. You could also try a lower pagepool rom version, nowadays you can change the pagepool without reflashing. Lower is slower but again it uses less memory. You could also use wizard registry wizard to change the font cache to lower setting and other cache settings.
My advice is to charge as less as possible as my USB connector got ****ed.
I tried the 25.11 on T-mobile network but quit using it as it either froze the ROM or could just not connect.
Or yes you could get another phone
Also make sure you change the settings of the network registry to not automaticly scanning for the network.

I have a MDA and I am running WM6 and using the 2.69.11 radio and I have no problems. I found that changing the task manager settings so that the program actually closes when you click x helps increase free ram and also, don't use any overclocker software such as battery status(it kills your battery and it doesnt make that much of a difference anyways...). Another thing you want to do is disable the today timeout under today settings. that tends to use more ram and thus, kills the battery faster.
See i knew i wasn't crazy about the today timeout
Thanks for the confirm.
I had the same problem with I upgraded to 8.1. Battery drain was pretty bad.. Usually getting home from work, I'd still be in the 90's with moderate texting, but with 8.1 i'd be in like the 50's. I just went back to 7.9.
The problem isn't the ROM... it's the audio manager from HTC, that sucker eats battery like I've never seen... been having this issue too, until I stoped using the audio manager and started using windows media player!

Same here i (as in i didn't actually notice it) but i stopped using the audio manager in favour of WMP as it gave better reactions to using the Stereo Bluetooth headset. As in Audio manager sometimes did not pick up the next and previous commands or would stop playing.
As i said i never really paid attention and i can only speculate that the battery drained faster when i did use Audiomanager.
Just goes to show that closing apps completely is always the best practice.
BTW, dferreira.
Ai's it Funny how one month after your WM5SE release people actually reacted after my post
What is your reason to use WM5 base?
WM5 is the native OS for Wizards... so, I find it to be more quick than WM6... Never gave me problems, like WM6 did. WM6 is just a face lift on WM5 so... I'm trying to make it as good as WM6 but quicker

Hi All,
I tried searching for this problem on the forum but I got no replies from the search.
I'm using an O2 Exec or XDA Exec and it's running on;-
(1) QTEK ROM Version: 1.30.77 WWE
(2) ROM date: 02/20/06
(3) Radio Version: 1.11.00
(4) Protocol Version: 45.45.P8
(5) No extended ROM.
Software's that I'm using :-
(1) Wisbar Advance version: 2.8.0.2 - on ROM
(2) SPB Phone Plus version: 1.1.1, build 1309 - on ROM
some other softwares that I occasionally use that some sit on the SD card.
SD card is 1GB Toshiba.
I hope someone can point to a work around for the "sleep of death issue". It happens intermittenly. I can leave it over night it would work the next day, but a few hours later it would just hang when I press the backlight key or the "ON" key.
Thank you and regards.

SPB phone plus? Whats that?
I only recommend using SPB backup and SPB insight on universal. Other SPB products chew away a lot of RAM.
The main reason for your problem seems to be shortage of RAM. WA2 takes ~2-3MB of RAM depending on the theme you have installed. SPB apps take away 4-5MB of RAM(eg:mobile shell). In couple of hours, they chew so much RAM and your device is low on RAM.
I use only WA3(bought it as WA3 consumes less RAM than WA2).
Just install that SPB app and you are most likely to get rid of the problem
Please help me, HELP!

Hi Kamal,
What I meant was, I was using SPB Pocket Plus and yes, it does take alot of memory. Other than that, I'm using SPB Phone Suit and Wisbar.
Now I decided to drop SPB Pocket Plus and use ILauncher instead. Seems to be better and good responce. But I guess it's the Wisbar that's giving me the problem. Evrytime I turn on the "Battery/Storage" icon, my phone get the "SOD" issue.
I'm still testing and even did a hardreset just in case. But problem still presist.
Well, I will keep checking and thinking of moving to WM6, any recommendation for which WM6 has A2DP working?
Thank you and regards.
Techx
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
hi,
i just flashed my elf to SX 6.0 WM 6.5.
i found out that the battery life in decreasing and i wonder is it due to the rom or is it the weakening of my battery.
previously i was using SX 1.1 WM 6.1
my battery now only last about a day standy
normal usage of a hour and sms daily the battery lasts less than a day.
can anyone help me figure this out?
im worried that i'll spend on a new battery and finding out later that it wasn't the battery's fault.
Hi weihoe..
Battery life drainage is probably due to one of two things.. either the ROM is not suitable or the IPL/SPL compination isn't correct..
check your IPL/SPL compination either by entering the tri-color screen (holding down the camera button and reseting with the stylus) or by dsixda's all in one elf tool found in these forums ... try to make both the IPL and the SPL the same.. for ex. i use this compination:
IPL 3.07.xxxx
SPL 3.07.xxxx
plz note also that if your are using Hard-SPL 3.14 .. this causes increased battery drain..
if the compination is fine.. try flashing another ROM and see if the problem persists..
Hope that helps..
i have also encounter this problem and i have done some research on it and i also cooked my own rom to see if i could locate what causes the drain, however
it didn't matter how much i stripped down the rom and what IPL/SPL/RADIO combination i did, and in the end my rom was completely without touchflo, gsm, wireless capabilities. (a blank GUI with a start button, nothing more)
Still the same battery drain, so the problem seems to lie in the Windows 6.5 core.
i used this version btw, WM6.5 Build 21864 (but i know that the drain applies to other versions aswell)
Seems that Microsoft has copied to much of the WM6.5 basecode from Windows Embedded CE 6.0 which also had this problem on ARM platforms before R1 release.

yes, im having the same problem with the SX 6.5 rom. battery now last less than half what it used to.
i dont know about other 6.5 roms.

- I believe all the builds available here are beta. So they are bound to have some issues.
- If you feel that core WM 6.5 is eating up battery then, you can try building a ROM with build 21237 and check once.
- I think build 21237 is the one on which MS released an official WM 6.5 SDK.
- The main issue I see with 21237 is : After clicking cross on top right on any screen it always returns to home screen (which I find a bit more offensive).
so how much new original battery cost?and what if duplicate battery do to battery life?is it wirth to have it or not?

Not builds 218xx. Those are non-beta builds made for HTC.
The rest are beta (e.g. the WM 6.5.1 builds with the buttons moved to the bottom)

You probably mean 21234, which was the first official WM6.5 release, but that one has battery drain as well.

Not 3.10, 3.14 is known for bigger drain.
I think what you are doing to increase the battery consumption is Manila2D V2.0. If they notice, everyone here who are complaining use the version with this ROM. Even I huehuehuehuehue. Before the battery life of my device was two days now takes only one day...

No, battery drains even without M2D and the Phone Canvas.
Guys, the ELFin has NEVER had a long life for me, tops 2 days even with shipped ROM. I compensate with car charger and 2 desk chargers (cheap = ebay). One home, one office. Saving for a Hero.

HSPL: 2.08
Battery life is very very bad, i'm not sure if it's my batt or the radio/rom performance, but just leaving it overnight (about 7 hours) with WMLongLife (2G with screen off), drains it to 86% from 100%!
And i'm not sure if anyone has a better alternative - i listen to music a lot, but just a 5 minute song with pocketplayer 4.0 drains my battery by 1%!

Heard that 2.10.50.28_2 is on the high side of batt drains (Radio ROM thread, user's experience, someone, somewhere)...so, use 2.10.50.26 instead.

it's got nothing to do with your radio, this frequent auto reset bug has something to do with an app that you install and/or your ROM (Astraios).

Heard that 2.10.50.28_2 is on the high side of batt drains (Radio ROM thread, user's experience, someone, somewhere)...so, use 2.10.50.26 instead.

I am running RRv 2.10.50.26, from 100% battery life, I get about 2 hours talk and 100 MMS and it leaves me with about 10% battery after all is said and done. Have not tried any RR's yet but still trying to get more feed back on the different versions.

2 days as in 48 hours? how many hours of total usage, how many hours in standby, roughly speaking?
I get best battery using any of the 2.xx.51.xx in Singapore and since all the Chefs stopped cooking old builds which support these radios ... I jumped in and started making my own

Hi guys. I use the setup below. I started with full charge at around 9 am in the morning and with atleast 4 hrs of talktime and no sms/mms, maybe 15 mins of browsing and close to 40 mins of youtube I ended up with around 5 % left the next day at little after lunch. That is close to almost 30 hrs. Also I had my wifi on most of the time. Except for around 2 hrs in between when I was not at work or at home. I did not charge it over night and did not put it into airplane mode.
ROM : Artemis 34.0 WWE
Radio : 2.14.50.04
I have the Tmous HD2 and am currently in Sunnyvale, CA. I should say though that all my youtube was not on wifi, though I am not sure if that would ve made a significant change in batterly life. Also I do not have my email set to automatically update itself. I manually check it when I need to. Get way too many of them. Will update again with more details with the 2.12.50.xx radio which I m planning to flash this weekend. Want to see how that one fares.
Cheers. Hope this helps. I would also appreciate more information about radio performance in India if there are any of you guys using the hd2 in india. Thanks

Gprash, would be curious on your results. I have been on 2.12.50.02 for the last couple of days and have been consisting getting 7-9mA drain and sometimes as little as 4mA. Call quality is clear for me. Just tried this morning the 2.14.50.04 radio and consistently get 7mA but call quality I am not sure about. First time I heard a very faint echo in the background. Could have been the signal? Signal quality seems to be the same while others say it is better than 2.12. And I am located in Fremont, CA. So not too far away from you.
