Ok crap, there is a big problem with my Dopod 900 that I did not notice until recently, because I don't really make calls.
The phone functionality is completely screwed, and I've verified this with a generic phone. Whenever I make a call to another party, problems like AN IRRITATING HORRIBLE SCREECHING NOISE and DISTORTED SOUND (i.e. like the signal is "breaking up").
Now has anyone encountered this problem before?
darn!!!

I've noticed over the past few weeks that my TyTN now seems to be interfering with itself. As in the noise that your speakers make when your phone is near them and communicating with the tower. Only it seems to be doing this to it's own internal speaker. Btw my service is Cingular. Anyone else experiencing this?
My 8525 just started doing that about a week ago.
It's a faint sound just like you would hear through radio speakers
except it's coming right from the headset. (not speaker-phone)
Yea, it's just as if that gsm interference sound is interfering with it's own speaker.
Others have reported a louder noise coming the back speaker when their Hermes was just setting on the table or night stand.
In response someone suggested that maybe the battery wasn't insulated well enough.
I have cingular and I had a similar problem with my Razr, so far I haven't had the problem with my 8525 which I just got last week. It was really annoying.
I've found that this only tends to happen when I have the display turned off. Also, turning the display on when this happens appears to immediately stop it. Odd.
it seems the speaker on the hermes is not shielded properly. i had this problem on my old samsung z100.
Same here with my v1605 - an annoyingly loud hum. After a soft reset, it does not occur until any sound file (e.g. ring tone) is played. Switching the display on stops it temporarily.
With my first one, it started after about a week and became really annoying, so I got it swapped. With the replacement I got then it occured twice so far, but it has been quiet now for maybe 10 days.

Ditto with my 8525. Very annoying.
I'm having the same issue with a brand-new 8525. It doesn't always seem to happen (I'm using direct push), but sometimes when it is receiving mail it will.
Anyone found a fix or really nailed down what the issue is?
yeah, i have a similar problem. whenever i'm connecting to a phone call or data session it makes buzzing noises in my computer speakers. i would love a fix for this.
Hello all:
If this has been covered or solved elsewhere, could you please refer me to said thread? Anyway, I have a problem where my girlfriend's 8525 emits its own GSM noise into the call. I.E. you'll be talking to her, then suddenly you here the GSM interfeerance. It varries from mild, to annoyingly loud. Sometimes, it cuts out, then resumes after a minute or so. That is not consistent however. That phone used to be mine, so I noticed it coming through the earpiece, however it was too soft to bother me.
One more thing. I noticed that windows system sounds appear to be piped through to the caller as well. I'm thinking, that if there's some registry tweek to disable that, perhaps it will also prevent the GSM noise from being piped through. Just a suggestion.
By the way, this phone is sim and sid unlocked and has the HTC rom, V3.54.255.3, and radio V1.54.07.00. Thanks, gladly appreciate any help or suggestions.
Hello everyone,
I bought a Dopod D810 off ebay a couple of weeks ago and it seems to have a couple of problem.
The problems are as followed:
1) The phone speaker (the one which you use while making and recieving calls - not the main one) is really really hard to hear, i always have to use the speaker phone (loudspeaker) to hear what people are saying .. Is this a hardware problem ( i think it is because i have flashed the phone with many roms and have also upgraded the radio version)
2) The phone doesn't vibrate. Even when I put it on vibration mode, it doesn't vibrate. Is it a problem or is it just a dopod thingy (no vibration) ?
Please help
Thanks
Dear sidxda,
1. I think the internal speaker phone of D810 is normally hard to hear (especially in accepting a phone call when the bar of radio signal is low). My dopod is also deaf as yours. But it is totally different when I use headphone-set, the voice is very clearly. Because of it I look for a registry tweak that automatically activates the loudspeaker when receiving a call. My thread in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4654555
2. It should vibrate. If your phone device does not vibrate, perhaps the motor (vibrator) is malfunction and needs a replacement.
Best regards,
Part_D
Apologies if someone has posted about this, but I couldn't find anything.
I have an infrequent problem during phone calls, where there is a popping/zapping sound that comes from the internal speaker. It doesn't sound like normal reception difficulties so much as an electrical zapping sound from the speaker itself - sort of like the speaker is short-circuiting for a split-second (the zap is very brief).
The weird thing is, though, if I make a Skype call it's far more prominent/frequent - suggesting that it might have something to do with the quality of connection.
I don't have any issues with my bluetooth headset or handsfree.
Anyone experienced something similar?
I have it sometimes
Hello people!
I believe I have the same problem as you guys and it has become more severe till yesterday. It has become more difficult to listen to people but for just one call about an hour ago it became normal again but just for a while...
I have bought the phone about 25 days ago and I'm sceptical as to whether I should ask for a new device.
What do you all think?
Does this problem persist for you?
How long have you had your DHD?
Thanks in advance
For me it's bearly a problem. Happens almost never. I have my device since November 11
its a big problem and not limited to just the HD. It also occurs on the Z as well. It never happens on a 3g connection just on a 2G call. I returned my HD because of this, purchased a Z because i thought it was limited to the HD but it wasnt;( I have now sold my Z and awaiting the release of the Nexus S. It really has put me off HTC phones for life;( You wont get this problem if you are living in a good 3g area.

hi,
my girlfriend owns a blackstone that recently started to do some noises, some crackling during calls.
it happens over speaker, loud speaker and even on headphones... but only on calls, because on music player sounds perfectly.
full network coverage, so that is not the problem.
any idea what could be the problem?
thanks
Does the other phone (which u called) receive your voice well and clear?
yes, they ear me well and clear, on every call.
mine does this problem on every call, it´s not problem of the other phone,I can notice the noise even on the waiting tone before other people answer the call
I am not sure, i have never had such a problem but i know that our HD switches gsm to 3g - or 3g to gsm- network continuously. So can it be what causes such a problem? I don't think it is a hardware problem. So you can try restoring to defaults & hard resetting or changing rom. I don't have any other opinion for now, sorry
have you tried another radio rom followed by a hard reset?
after all, the radio handles these things and newer radio often have better call quality.
