Registry values FAQ - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there somewhere a FAQ with descrition of some important registry tweaks for Wizard? It would be great to have such a listing, and it would also lower the number of repeated questions here in forum.
Something, like
Enable "E" icon for EDGE
/HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/RIL/EnableDifferEdgeIcon
Font color in Phone /HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin/DIALER/portrait/text/textcolor
etc. etc.?
If this does not exists, it would good if everyone, who knows some usefull tweak will post it here, what you think?

Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725

well, i saw this thread, but let me quote a part of one answer in this thread:
but gets out of date every time someone finds a new tweak. But then we end up with 10,000 "how to tweak my Pink German QWERTZ Edge Chinese Language ROM Charmer???!" threads, with needless repetition and the chance that tweaks relevant to others are missed.

so, sure such a program would be nice, but i think, that something like listing of all the registry hacks can solve many many problems

Create wiki pages with all the different tricks.

The forum starts to be a big huge, there are allready dozen tricks or little hacks, that havn't even seen because hidden in a post somewhere.
So the idea would to collect all this tricks/hacks and index them in a wiki page. That way everyone could find them and if needed add some explanations; ( the wiki could also link to the post to get the full review and explanation for the futur)
Of course the wiki will not be the place to ask questions, just a list of all the technical details like registry hacks, hidden extended rom etc..
What do you think about this idea ?
It's here already, but needs some updating
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal
Yep this is a good idea. I've created a suitable page at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry - please could everyone add in their own hacks (with examples)?
ive pasted in all the reg's n tweaks ive collected up so far, needs editing to the same standards you set out, but i will action shortly.
Cool - a good set already!
Added the standard disclaimer at the top of the page so that people don't moan when they make the wrong change and break their Universal

RegEdit: Hide 'rotate screen' icon

Hello!
Could somebody please tell me how to hide the sreenrotation icon using regedit? Are there any websites listing regestry hacks?
Cheers,
helterSkelter
It sure would be great if questions were followed by a question mark...
As it is, a lot of postings seems like people offering solutions judging from the subject line, when they are in fact asking for help. It's confusing as well as time wasting, since it attracts the wrong readers to the threads...
Remove your rotate screen
-Use a registry editor and open:
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINCE\Services\ScreenRotate
-Change ShowIcon from 1 to 0.
-Soft-reset
-Enjoy

This is my little CAB file which i run when doing a clean install (after hard reset)
Thanks a lot for the help danr and ampda!
HBK: your post was a bit out of place, cos if 'the wrong readers' were 'looking for a solution' they would of found it here anyway. Questionmark or not.
No, it wasn't out of place, and it has been mentioned a gazillion times before, as all regulars know.
Some people have more time than others. Quite a few of us have to skip the threads, where the subject line doesn't have an immediate appeal. That's actually why we have the subject lines in the first place. That's just a fact of life, and it goes for all message boards, not just this one.
This thread has right now had 141 reads and 2 replies to your question. What does that tell you?

I doubt it would be any different if I had added a question mark and I still think the title of the topic is fitting.
Hide icon rotate

Have you read the thread titled: 'Please read this before posting'? Amongst other things, it contains this text...
2. Use a clear subject
So you're going to post a message, and need to think of a subject. Try to keep in mind that many people actually use that subject to determine whether they will even look at your message.

Registry Tweeks....

Excuse me if this has already done the rounds or there is already a resource which accomplishes the same...
It would be great if we had a resource that included all the common registry tweeks in one place so that a quick scan through could find solutions to common problems that can be resolved with a simple registry tweek.
I invite you to add tweeks that you have found useful & would like to share....
Impossible!!!!

Let me be the first say this now before this thread (or you) get flamed hard. There are way too many communities/forums/devices out there, conisisting of way too many stock and cooked roms. When it comes to reg tweaking, it's best to use the search feature here, (which is strongly recommended and encouraged).

Yes I did this time, but I have a sneaky suspicion it'll be the last time I'll beat you to the punch, lol. (jk)
There is the WiKi here, where I usually find and post registry tweaks.
Perfect just what I was after !!

Thanks for that.
How about tweaks to change how bluetooth is handled by different apps.
Appears that many of the available ROMs handle bluetooth differently & I'm assuming that this is largely due to registry settings. Does anyone have the low down on controlling the way the phone hands back control to audio manager after a call?

Date and time on top bar

Hi,
I've enabled the date and time for the top bar using sktools, but the problem is the date is cut off, because it's font size is too big to fit in. I've search but no luck. I was wondering if there is a hack or registry setting that can solve this. my unit is an 02 xda atom. i've decided to post it here, in a more general forum, because other hacks/tweaks or registry setting might also work for my device. thanks.

greate! it works!!! many thanks colonel00
sorry for missing this
i would like to apologize for missing this in the first place. i just realized that I had this already but missed it when i moved from an atom to zinc. well, it didn't matter in atom before. sorry, for flooding the thread/forum with such simple query. this is not a totally useless thread, eventhough it is already contained in previous thread. it is specific in a way. others/newbies, like new users could easily find these kinds of infos faster, when done with simple search.
thanks again to colonel00 and other forumers for being patient that didn't bash me off right away, for my ignorance...

help

can blue angel run this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469865
you can install it, i had a previous version installed with sun_dream's wm6.1 rom and i thought i had an improvement. another thing is: i just checked the registry and the values mentioned in the thread do not exist on my xplode 21202 rom, so i don't know whether it would change anything to install it, it wouldn't do any harm, but then don't expect any improvements, if you do, please respond here and write azharsunny, that his tweak works for the ba too so he can add it to the list of compatible devices
Also, could you Edit the tittle of first post to something more like " iTouch Tweek" for BA ???? So others would be more interested in reading.
I would also suggest to test it and let us know.
Edit: Also, are you looking for better sensitivity with your finger or with the stylus? I've found that when you do the Screen Setting, if you do it with your finger, and gently touch the crosses, it give you more sensitivity when using finger.
Ive tryd this reg change my self there's no difference what so ever, on our BA's that is.
It could be that since this reg tweak was meant for other devices, the values are elsewhere. I remember changing the screen sensitivity a while back in WM6 and it does work. I'll try to see if I can remember the entry, but it does work. I don't know if this "program" works or not, but I guess trying it wouldn't hurt.
@Nev2Star
markanthonypr is absolutely right. Please refrain from opening a thread with a title like that. Whenever you create a thread, please make sure that the following conditions are met:
* You are posting it in the right section of the forum:
This is clearly a specific program compatibility issue and it sure does not deserve a new thread for it. You could have just created a post in the thread where you found the program or you could have asked in the "Questions and Answers" section of the forum. Remember, this is only for WM6+ development, testing, etc. and not for specific programs. This is not the first thread that you have opened with similar purposes in the BA section and I am simply asking you to open them in the right section (which is not this one).
* Make a title for your thread that is specific for your problem:
Again, if you want someone to look at your question seriously (or even look at it at all), put a title that clearly explains what you are looking for. A title of "help", doesn't say anything. What happened? Did your BA crash? Are you trapped in a coal mine? You need help with math homework? What does "help" tell the other members looking into possibly helping you out? Absolutely nothing.
* That the thread doesn't already exist / the question hasn't been asked before:
In this case, there is a full thread in the Dev & Hacking section solely dedicated to this program. There is no need for a new thread talking about compatibility of this.
