mediacenter playback problems - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

HELP :?
I am having problems with playing back anything that I have recorded on my mediacenter TV or film. I use NVIDIA_PureVideo_Decoder for watching on my mediacenter but would I need a special decoder that works with my O2 Exec I watch other films on my Exec with TCPMP and they work perfectly.
Any help would be appreciated

hiya, dot kow if this is any help to you but PC'a windows media player 10 and activesync should automatically syncronise any files in the ' my tv recordings folder' of your pc and convert them directly onto your pda upon syncronisation, for viewing. ( win media 10 auto converts it to a smaller size-as dvms files are usually gigs worth, space permitting.) i would know i do this everyday so i can watch tv on the way to work!videos take up a lot of disc space so to do so the only requirement is you have an sd card inserted with lots of disc space. each tv program takes around 100mb on your pda( for 30mins) ( alot better than 2gigs on the pc!) all the best. im using the nvidea encoder too works fine. my sd card is a 2gb ridata 2gb pro. works absolutely fine no stutter in playback eiither.

Streaming pocketmovies to Imate using Wifi

I have a WiFi SD card in my iMate Jam. Viewing movies through the Wifi card is possible but the datatransfer of the pocketmovies is just a little too much for the Wifi card (or the Jam) (pauzes during playback). So I'm looking for a streaming video server for my PC so I can regulate the bitrate the movies are broadcast.
Has any1 suggustion on what program to use or how to tackle this problem in another way?

Don't know if this would do the trick?

No, that's not what I mean
The thing you suggest is a video player. I would like to use the mediaplayers available for pocket pc that can play a video from an URL to play a movie or movieplaylist.
I'm looking for a streaming server on my pc that can control bandwidth of the movies, so my WiFi card can accest the bandwidth

Just encode the movies to a lower bitrate. You can do this with Windows Media Encoder which you can download for free from Microsoft. I thin you find it somewhere among the Windows Media Player pages.
Here's a small tutorial for Windows Media Encoder.
It doesn't do exactly what you asked (this one is more for streaming audio) but it's the same sort of thing should hopefully help!

What format media player 10 can play for movie?
I try, and .avi can not play on media player.
thanks
Arto
It plays WindowsMediaVideo (.wmv).
Now, which one is the best format? In term of size and picture/sound quality for small screen? .wmf or .mpg?
Thanks

tcpmp ? dvd help

Hi All
Xda exec ,Tcpmp and wm ,network
I stream dvd from pc to exec across wifi ,Wont play in Tcpmp so only have v small picture in media player.
Any Idea how to get media player pic bigger or Tcpmp to play dvd
_^.^_
ur a nobody till u been ignored by a cat
Hmm,
I use PocketDivxEncoder to compress a dvd. It's not streaming, but maybe good enough for now?
M
Use DVDShrink to backup the DVD to HDD (takes 20 mins)
Use AutoGordianKnot to shrink the DVD file to something that will fit onto an SD card (in Xvid format: .avi) (about 4 hours per DVD but can do multiple jobs overnight)
Use TCPMP to play full screen on your device wherever you want.
Find the software online using Google (it's all free) and read the tutorials.

Movies on Pocket PC

I'd really like to start using my PPC to watch movies while commuting. I mean current movies that people can now rent, not ancient stuff. The only problem is, the expense and hassle! It stops me from even trying. I mean, first you have to buy a movie DVD for $12-14, then buy and install software to convert it to something that can be seen on the PPC, then copy to my 3GB SDIO Card.
So, it costs me 2 hours of setup hassle and $12+ to enjoy a movie on my PPC???? What the heck ?!(*()*OJ&^&%!&$
I cannot even find any decent amount of material on the web with regards to other people that do this. Does anyone have any ideas? How do people do this - and what is the easiest least expensive way to do it?
do this
download the movie frm net convert via smartmovie and play it.
IMHO http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/ = ++ good
[for all you Orwell readers]

TCPMP for Pocket PC 0.72RC1
is good

Yeah, TCPMP is good.
You can copy downloaded tv straight to an SD card and watch it.
I usually stick a few 350mb avi eps onto my SD and watch them on the train. They play flawlessly.
Just make sure you increase the buffer size in TCPMP and turn the backlight down a bit otherwise your battery'll run out fast.

When playing AVI's it stutters, convert? specific program?

Hi, I've had my O2 XDA Mini s a week and love it.
As I'm new to all this, I'm having problems in playing avi files ad they won't play in Media Player. A friend suggested I install TCPMP which plays everything on his HP IPAQ. I installed it and it does play the file but stutters.
I have just loaded the avi file onto my 2gb SD Card and playing from there. I haven't converted the file smaller or anything. Do I need to do this? If so, what prog, resultion, size looking for etc. Any advice, help would be appreciated.
Also, I saw a store selling 4gb mini sd cards, do these work on this handset?
Thanks
m
Unfortunately the Wizard doesn't have a terribly powerful processor, running at 195 Mhz by default. I have the stuttering problem as well with larger files - there simply isn't enough grunt to process the stream fast enough.
You could try using Windows Movie Maker, which has targets specifically for Pocket PCs and/or a specific file size. Add your movie into a collection (make sure you turn off scene selection), drag it onto the story board, then save the movie. I can convert a 350MB 'HD' xvid in about 20 mins.

HELP! i wnt 2 watch movies on Hermes ... howto do?

Hi All
iwant 2 watch movies on hermes, i already hav tcpmp installed, but cannot transfer movie files to memory card, it only works when i convert files 2 3gp format with convertor, but i get totally crappy quality.
Any advice out there?
Cliffy101 (newb)
I've always had issues with TCPMP. I just convert movies to MP4 with my laptop, stick 'em on my memory card, and watch 'em with WMP.
Just buy a memory card reader to transfer files to your card. They are dirt cheap on eBay and about 15$ in stores. The transfer rate via activesync is horrible, so you are better with it for file transfers, may it be pictures, videos or music.
Tnx
tnx, i'll try the mp4 & card reader options ...
I have another question though, the library of WMP cannot read media on the card, is this normal on hermes?
i dont have a hermes but when i choose update lib in options
and choose sdcard un the playlist i get all my music from the sdcard
that the wmp can play that is it dont support many formats

Windows media has limited format support and sometimes videos are slow too. I sugger TCPMP when possible. Coreplayer, its shareware version, is an excellent player and features a library just like in windows media player, but even better!
N1c0_ds, reverse that, core player is commercial and tcpmp is shareware...
Really like core player though, has many format support...
If you don't mind paying for something, would recommend it.
Cheers.....
Cool!!! ... tnx all 4 ur advice, I cn't stop watchin movies now, i'm considering Core playr...
Vive la XDA!!!!
have you tried smartmovie converter?
