just bought one / my thoughts

hi all just got my self a xda2 mini s on a o2 contract . after using the sony ericsson p800 for the past 3 year . what a change from the p800 . the phone its self is much the same size . i have found something strange that happens on the xda mini . well my one anyway . it seems that for some reason when using it for some time . when i try to open the phone to make a call . the phone wont open nothing no pad nothing . does this happen to any of u guys phones . also i took all the o2 active stuff of the phone today and its much faster ... also what sort of programs r u guys using on your phones mine is standerd . do u get skins and other tools and programs for the mini and where can i get some good ones from any advice would be kind

Welcome and enjoy your new baby.
Have you checked your button settings., I have all my buttons lock except for the power one every 1 min. So only by pressing the power button, can the phone be used, or when I recieve a call.

also dont forget to unlock it, just cos you can...
Loads of other stuff, but really depends on your usage. I flashed my vario with kjam rom, so I can use wifi g and to get rid of that quite horrendous pink t mobile branding. I am using a mac os skin on mine, and it looks the shizzel.

cool sorted it i think . so where do u get your plugins for the phone from . also r they free . can u post a link to where i can get some programs for my phone so i can tart it up a bit

Why do you not PM me, I am sure I coud guide you in the right direction, This forum is for helping people, SO I would like to keep it that way. I have learnt a lot from thi s site.

My phone application will also not open occasionally (eg now!) for no apparent reason. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this may be happening? Is it an XDA mini s specific problem?

it seems that when u close all programs on the phone thru the task manager the phone wont call up . that what makes my one do it ... close all tasks and the phone keypad wont call up on the sreen .. there is a couple of things not right with the xda2 mini s for what i see ... also cant seem to sort out when the phone lock is on why does the hard buttons on the phone still make my phone light up

Need you help . I purchased a new Imate JASJAM after few days of using the PPC , i noticed a strange thing happening on my phone. All the application just closes automatically . when i open any apps it just closes within seconds , i am just able to receive calls and no other functions work . I took it to the imate service center couple of times now but after they handed over the phone to me , the problem persists after using the phone for 2 days . It seems very strange to me . Request your help/suggestion and solution to control this problem so that i can use the PPC again without any problems

What did the service center tell you was wrong with it?
And have you tried just doing a system restore?

The service center restored my mobile device from WM6 to WM5 as it was not compatible, earlier they thought it was an software issue and then the hard ware was also checked but to no avail. after sometime of working on the ppc , the programs just closes immediately within seconds of opening.

It should run WM6 just fine, they also have a wm6 rom for your device so that should tell you somthing.
sounds like they didnt know what was wrong with it.
Tell them your unhappy with it and you want a replacment, thats if u havent unlocked it>
Or maybe someone else here willl reply with a better solution.
To me though it sounds faulty

Well the phone is not under any warranty , checked lots of links in google but never helped . Just hopes somebody comes out with a solution . Already have paid enough for service of the phone at the service center .....pls help

If you got the phone from a legit source it should have had some type of warrenty at one time. And if so was it in for repairs during that period. Just asking cuz thats your proof that the problem was never resolved and they should still provided you with a replacement.I could be wrong but Id look into it more.

Ok, real long shot. We have several Jasjams. One of our Jasjams had an issue with a broken OK button (near the scroller). The button just stopped working altogether. Is it possible that yours has lost it's click and it keeps pressing ok, shutting the programs? If that's the case, see if it's possible to reset the function for the broken button in the settings.

Hi there, what ver of WM6 you upgraded to? the ok button theory seems true, but just tell me what WM6 did u use? did u try 1 Version only or you tried many?
if you think this is a OS problem, try upgrading to Schap's 4.22 or TNT.SE, these are the best two versions ever, i am using Schap's on my JASJAM and its just perferct wihtout flaws, try installing it and see what happens with you.

jasjam warranty
if you bought it from a legit place and haven't put any cooked roms on you should be able to get it replaced if it goes bung in the first month. the store should replace with no questions asked if there is a problem that they cant resolve..... imate also has a years warranty on new phones so you should be able to send to them and be fixed AT NO COST TO YOU (excluding postage).
suggest taking back and if they say theres no problem test b4 taking out of the shop. all the help i can give, Cheers.

i cant make any calls, phone feature wont work and has no reception. but everything eles works on it when i press green phone button wont keypad wont come on i cant got to phone when i click on it from setting and i got this sign ( ! ) next to recetopn bar

Is this a new phone ? What country are you in ? have you tried a different location in case it is just poor reception in your area ?

Did you try a softreset to make it work again?

did everythinh soft reset hard rest software upgrade nothing works

Sounds like a hardware fault to me. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I can't think of anything else it could be.

i got this imate jasjar 2 years back and i love my uni allot.
need a help from you bro...i am new to all these hav been goin through 100z of threads everyday bt not gettin my answers i hope you would help me out..!!
actually my jasjar suddenly started behavin weird it switched off by itself n wen i switched it back on after the windows mobile screen shows up my jasjar gets a dead blue screen n nothin happens.
tried to connect with active sync 4.0 and 4.1 bt it would not respond and show dat the phone is not connected.
i came across a thread in which a guy said to press bright light button + power button+softreset it sent my phone to a usb mode
then i used mtty tool and its command task 28 to check if my jasjar is wasted or still breathin lucky enough it dint give a formatfaliure msg and there were some steps i followed .
everything went as told n now m stuck on where to get official wm5 for jasjar and how to get out of the usb screen and how to flash the rom...??

With regard to restorig WM5 - I have the official O2 XDA Exec files for their last software release. But I think you said your's is an iMate.You could see if the iMate version listed here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Upgrades is still available - if not maybe someone has a copy somewhere.

i found i mate upgrade bt when i clicked on download an error popped up "550 or 505 change of directory sumthin..."
well i followed the instructions u sent me it worked well bt still need to flash with wm5 ...!!
any chance of u or ur known havin a copy of wm5 rom

bro thankx for help i actually flashed my uni with kdskamal cooked wm5 bt my jasjar still gets dead on a greenish screen as it used to get before in blue screen wht m i supposed to do...??

Hi,
Try flashing with a WM6 rom (Tomal's ROMs are always good) and see if you get the same symptoms.
If you do then I suspect that you have a screen/cable connecting screen problem.
But lets rule out software first.

i was up all night flashing wms
i used mtty software so many times that its commands are like hard weird in my brain cant get them out now....lolzzz
my stubborn uni was still stuck on the same dead screen but the only fun thing was that every time i flashed a new wm it used to get stuck on diff colours blue red green black...lolzzz
i scratched my head and i scratched my ass to an extent that i guess it started thinking lolzzz
i got some nice screw drivers and opened up my uni..
damn dis thing is wicked and messy it has things dat i dont know about n havnt even dreamd of in my stupidest dream i hav been lost in a computer motherboard with some good virus as my friend n some bad scary virus but in my uni motherboard i would neva..!
so i just fixed it back...n it worked for a while n den i dont know what tickled its ass.
busted again...!!
i guess ill hit the HTC service centre.

for some strange reason the option "incoming com port" in the blue-tooth setting on my jasjar has disappeared. i was wondering if anyone else faced the same problem or if there is a way around it? editing registry n stuff.
because of this the previously paired devices are working fine but the new devices are unable to search the serial/com port facility on my uni.
i have tried resetting but still no luck.
any suggestions?
also i would really appreciate if someone could give me a solution for reading arabic and other such languages on uni.
(btw i am using i.e.TML 8.5 Rom and when i installed it at first the functionality was present so it cant be a ROM issue.)

lol... sorry abt earlier maite! i just realized the ridiculous thing i just did. i was supposed to post the reply to ur prob and then start with my sad story but somhow i managed to skip step one .
i m not expert on the device but i like it very much so i when i got one with my o2 contract i bought another one sim free just so that one would keep other company. as far as ur issue goes i have faced almost the same prob in the past and the solution was
1) rotate the screen 90 to get acess to screws at the bottom of the screen.
2) open the screws screws ... btw u might wana check if they are properly fastend before you try this step as i observed that if the screws are properly tightened this problem may solve itself... carrying on open the screws and that would detach the screen from the hinges.
3) where the hinge comes off strip open the cover a little bit and you will see two connections, one for the backlight and one for display (just like any other LCD screen.
4) press the big grip like thingee i.e. display connector with a flathead screw driver to assure they are properly in place. because in my case the connector had come off and hence was causing the system crash. although in my case the screen was only going blue after a while not the whole color palette.
just try if this one works because i m not sure if imate people are going to be any help in this case. i tried calling them a few months back for the lenscover and they said they dont support this device any more :S.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 ( 6 GB ) ( Rebooting unstoppable) Please Read and Help me !!!

I have Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 ( Unrooted 6GB) bought 3 - 4 months ago ,
i was using it yesterday afternoon , after couple of hours i thought to Put phone on charge it was 36% , But when i pickup my phone it was restarting . i was confused , when booted up after 2 mins use then restarted again , i noticed little bit lag becasue i was googling the possible reason of unexpected Reboot.
then it kept restarting after every 4 to 5 mins of use , i thought its the button so i open the case but everything looked fine . then it started to reboot right after bootup , i thought its a virus , i was able to wipe data and reset 2 times , but still same rebooting issue , now i carefully checked my phone buttons , everything like new , and i take care of my phone very well . I AM VERY SURE BUTTONS ARE FINE , but phone is behaving like power button is being pressed whole time .
things got worse i woke up midnight i looked at my phone still stuck on restart continuously, and next reboot it booted up for couple of secs and showed me pattren lock but called emergency number ( Emergency Call Button Under Pattren) , i was not able to cut the call but i keep trying then again re boot , i didnt sleep because of this phone vibrating rebooting and sometimes calling EMERGENCY service even when i removed sim and SD card , i can't remove battery so i let it keep rebooting, now battery died .
guys i am sorry for this long description but i am in big problem and stress . i am youtube lover and some social media , games like pubg sometimes . my phones is rebooting even if i go Boot Menu , after many tries i was able to reset once , but same issue ,
Please help me , waiting for replies i am online , any more questions please ask i will try to reply as soon as possible , i dont know rooting or custom roms . i never did , Please Guide me to go threw this mess . I SHALL BE VERY THANKFUL FOR THIS .

Goto Service center

Sounds like power button contacts have shorted out somehow, though very less likely. Better go to a service centre instead of wrecking your brain over something which you probably can't fix.

ok but , i ordered this phone from India , i have the bill #flipkart . i ordered online and asked my friend to bring it , I live abroad .
i will have to send it back to India . but my friend buttons ? do you think there can be any other reason as well . Like virus which effects ROM stored in memory so even when we factory reset , problem stays same. BOOTMENU as well all phone is doing rebooting again and again till it rains all battery .
can you think of any other posibility , before i send it back India ,. ? its like burden .

I'm not too sure about what exactly had happened to your phone. I can't say much if I don't see it myself. This is a very uncommon and peculiar problem because modern phones are less vulnerable to viruses. So it might just be a fault unit which you have received.

Ok i will plan to send it back to India . I bought this phone from Indian Website because this model wasn't available here in Canada.
When my friend ordered it . He told me about 99 RS extra for some kind of protection . I said pay that as well . I have the original bill . My friend have copy of that ask well.
Any idea where it will get repaired ? I mean send it back to FLipkart ? Or Asus customer service ?

try to get a replacement. Since you said you bought this phone 4 months ago you might not be able to exchange it. Other option is getting it fixed at an asus service centre and they may do it for free because it's still under warranty.
