Bios deleted, where can I get a new one? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I just gave my Qtek 2020 for repairing and it was repaired. However, the guy says there is no software on it - no windows or anything. I have misplaced the original CD which came with it. Is there anywhere I can download new firmware and software?

Rogers Canada Mobile 2003 Upgrade (not SE)

After alot of *****ing and customer service that did not have a clue that the supplied the SX56 and software. I finally found some intelligent life at Rogers and was provided this link to the Rogers Mobile 2003 upgrade for those Canadians that still need it.

Thanks... but a problem
Thanks for this link. I was successfully able to download this update from the site: however.... the software will not update my phone
I am using the phone on rogers, but this phone is one that i purchased that was originall At&T from the USA.
I downloaded a ROM from here, it is a PPC2002 version, with a whole bunch of toys, looks cooked, but not by me. I used this to unlock the radio.
I would like to upgrade to 2003. This image will not load and i dont know whether i should try cooking another one and loading it, or if there is a way to get this one on there. Having an OS endorsed by my carrier is somewhat comforting, but i dont know if this is at all legitimate.
I get the following error after clicking the first NEXT in the upgrade process:
ERROR 012 CHECK ERROR
The rom image that you are trying to upgrade is not compatible with your PPC phone. Please compare the devidce and upgrade information below
Current device info:
MODEL PW10A1
ROM 3.17
Your Upgraded Image Info:
MODEL PW10B1
Rom R.30
Please download the compatible utility and try again.
Perhaps i am out of luck?
Thanks
Ian
Trick
The trick I used to get around this, is start the installer you downloaded, it will create a directory x:\program files\SX56 upgrade utility. Copy all the files from this directory to a safe place, then cancel the installer.
In there there will be a NK.NBF file. Use the XDATool OSImage tool to make a SD card image, then on the XDA hold down the power button and soft reset to then do the install of the new ROM image. Covered elsewhere on this site many times...
After that, copy the RSU*.* and monitor*.* files from the above directory to the devices \windows directory and run RSupgrade.exe to upgrade the radio stack.
Worked for me.
Meathooks.
Questions
I apologize if this seems like stupid questions but: What is the difference, if any, between PPC 2003 and WM 2003?
I downloaded and installed (or attempted to anyway) the 2003 update from the Siemens website - the one for Rogers users. I, unknowing the problems other have had, attempted to install straight from the .exe file. The radio stack updated sucessfully but the unit hung when attempting to update the ROM. The program asked for a soft-reset and to run the installation program again. When I did this the unit would not power on and my computer didn't recognize that the SX56 was even attached... anyhow, couldn't get anything to work after numerous attempts. The people at Siemens told me to send the unit back to Rogers. I did. Rogers just forwards the unit to Siemens anyway and now I've been without it for 2 weeks. argh.... When i do get the unit back (which I'm starting to think may be never!) i will try again with the recommended use of XDAtools instead of straight from the EXE file. Even though I won't go through that again i'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem and if they have found the reason for it and a way to install straight from the EXE file without any problems.
Thanks,
Sean
Difference
No difference bwn the two, the proper term is Windows Mobile 2003.
Meathooks.

No prob for the upgrade, sorry I did not get back to you earlier (out of the loop for a while), but Meathooks is right, this is the way I had to go as well. Worked great and have not found any bugs so far.
I have another XDA as well. THis one i actually bought from Rogers (for $1000) before knowing that these can be had on ebay for $200 - so i got a second one (my ATT phone) when my cat chewed the antenna on my Rogers phone.
The rogers took the update no problem, straight from the EXE file as in the attached WORD document above.
The rom on the rogers phone was R.2???? something before the update.
Why are some of the ROM versions called R.2 or R.3 and some are just called 3.17 or whatnot?
As for my ATT (primary) phone, does anyone recommend using the rogers provided update over using the one i cooked yesterday or visa versa?
Thanks

tmobile rom HOw to install ?? URGENT

hi there, my mates xda mini on t-mobile was lost on his device as he tried to install a version that wasnt meant for his device, now he dont have any OS as it removed the rom and couldnt install the other, so its a clean device, i have downloaded the rom from the FTP site and i find the file is
tmobile.nb1
how do i get this installed on his device???
im new to this myself and no idea how to do it, i have heard this and that among the forums and i am assuming that you transfer this to an SD card and install it from there, if this is what you do then how do you do it??? is it simple, or is there an extractor i can use to turn it into an installer????
PLEASE HELP,
its not a process for the light hearted, however is it a xda mini your friend has or the mda compact, without the clarification we cant really progress.
All he needs if it is the mini is to install the xda mini rom files, however if it is the compact you will need to do a bit more.
Reply if further assistance is needed
jim
it is the mda compact, what he did was 9as he is new to this stuff0 tried to install an xda2s software to it, and it took his old rom off the device, it then tried to install then he got the error message and would not go any further, now as mentioned earlier, i have the file from the ftp site which im guessing more and more now that i just put that file on an sd card, and flash it, only thing is, it mentions something somewhere i read that you need to copy files from the old rom which he dont have and i dont have access to. what do i do, as he is going to india for 6 months in 4 weeks and if he sends it away for repair he wont get it back in time... and im his only hope as it happened to me, only thing, i have xda 2s and im on o2, so i just got the rom from here, which was an installer from the pc through the usb connection...
please help!!!!
So I can assume that the screen just says serial on top and v1.00 at the bottom, ie the bootloder screen, if this is the case there is some hope however you will need a few tools and some patience
ntrw
romupdate utility
SD card reader / writer
at least 256MB SD card
once you have that, just follow the instructions for the ananasky ROM update, however the rom that you will be patching is the tmobile.nb1 one on the ftp site, or you could go ahead and try the anansky patch itself
as before let me konw how u are progressing

i am really confused as to why it doesn't work. maybe it's because its for the c500 only. but looking at this link
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/3848.html
there is one for the audiovox.
did you try to run the normal upgrade when the phone is connected via usb in BL?
i've tried the uk update but it says i need to be connected to activesync. boing to go buy a card reader today to try backing up from the sd card.

Verizon Apache wm6 rom says 'no radio installed'

I recently put windows mobile 6 on my Wizard, and I told my friend about the ability to do it. He found a wm6 rom somewhere and managed to screw it up. I found a windows mobile 6 rom (somewhere, idk which one) that installed correctly.
Output in the boot process: (not familiar with the apache, no idea what this means)
Code:
h/w 2 r none
m-12
u-4 d 3.50.00 wwe
When I try to use or check the settings on the phone portion of the device, I get "A wireless radio must be attached to use the phone."
I believe this means I need to update my radio. If so, I don't know which piece of software and which version to use or where to find it.
help please!
thanks,
Brewer

Showing as UNKNOWN DEVICE, dont see SD

Hi there. Thanks to everybody for answers.
I just have got some DVP from USA (not new). Its in good cond. Unfortunatelly unusable It cannot see sd card. System info says 15MB free. Service menu (##634#) says SD card 8GB inserted but unusable.
But the main problem is, that ZUNE (and win7 as well) dont see the phone - win7 dont recognize it and its marked as UNKNOWN device with pid USB\VID_045E&PID_04EC . I tried find proper driver on inet, tried search in zune directory, tried update zune... nothing helps.
Firmware is 2250.1500.7004.105
carrier:TMO-US
revision: 112.576.2.0 OS
OS: 7.0.7004.0
So i think its basic firmware. My first idea was, that i havent original DELL data cable (using ericsson). BUT when i connect phone in recovery mode, its recognized properly by windows mobile recovery SW. (but that sw says this device cannot be recovered blabla So i think cable is good (all data cables i guess are the same) I tried update firmware via wifi - it says no update available.
Is there ANY OTHER WAY to UPDATE FW ? (without zune)?
Is there any way how to find right drivers for it?
SD card problem can be solved by new sdcard, maybe. But i need some FW uodate, in this satus is phone unusable - restarts, it dont keep my settings after restart, and many other troubles.
Thank you for your hints !!
Regards Gisbern
just call in for a replacement they will send you a device with 212. They wont make you send your current device until after you receive the replacement at which point you just put it in the box they sent your replacement in, seal it back up, put the label they gave, and call fedex for a pickup. Takes about 3 days for the replacement to arrive although the last replacement I received I got in 2 days.
No warranty
Hi, thank you for reply. It was the answer i didnt want to hear )) For my phone service tag is no warranty in dell pages. Of course i can pay for repair, but the question is, how much ? Anybody know +/- price for such type of repair?
Secondly im from EU, so shipping to usa will be little bit higher (but not killing).
Thats way im asking for some alternative method of flashing FW. (without zune)
Regards Pete
I know this thread is ancient. But I post a solution anyway, for other people who have this problem and find this with google.
The solution is easier than you might think: in device manager right-click the device and choose "update driver". Let windows search for drivers and it will install the proper drivers. Done!
