The device does not sync :-
appointments with entries in notes field.
contacts with entries in notes field.
tasks with entries in notes field.
O2 XDA Exec , WM5, ActiveSync v4.1, Outlook 2003
O2 Have passed the buck to microsoft as software issue and nothing to do
with them
I dont know if AS4.x or WM2005 is guilty, but anyway - its of no use at all
without all appointments, notes and contacts in daily use.

I have this problem too - Contacts with any amount of notes are not synced...
I have just replaced by M5000 and reinstalled Windows but no luck... My M5000 is now just sitting in a a drawer and I've gone back to my C500 which works perfectly...
The M5000 will now sit in my drawer until this is fixed or I can upgrade again (in twelve months) I wouldnt mind o much but last years technology did it PERFECTLY! LOL
Hmmmm when they fix this it would be nice to be able to sync contact photos too! I just added photos to all my 140 contacts thinking the photos would be sent to the M5000 but nope! Doh!
I have the same problem but with calendar entries that have notes in them. It would appera that notes attached to items would seem to be the common item here.

I have purchased a new Pocket PC (XDA II) and wanted to migrate all my contacts from a Nokia Communicator to the new Pocket PC. The only way was to synchronize my contacts from Nokia Communicator to Outlook and then synchronize from Outlook to Pocket PC. In Nokia Communicator it is possible to customize the contact card of any person to have as many "Mobile" fields as you want. But unfortunately, all extra mobile numbers were ignored while synchronizing Nokia Communicator with Outlook.
Is there another way to migrate all contacts to XDA II with all their details?

I did this a while ago when I got the XDA I. Unfortunately, the "going via outlook" solution is really the only way of doing things. The major problem is that the outlook object model has all of its fields hardcoded (IMHO very bad coding practice), so multiple mobiles, holiday homes, etc cannot get into the outlook model.
I ended up doing a manual edit of everything once I'd synched, took an hour or so (300ish contacts), but less than writing a program to remap the fields.
Same here guys - PAINFUL, but worth it.
When I did this a year or so back I created a Word file with the mappings between Pocket Outlook, Outlook 2002, and the 9210 communicator; simply to make your life easier when re-jigging all your contacts.

Need some help here please guys! ActiveSync does not sync all my contacts between Outlook 2003 and my M5000.
I've tried starting the Sync from both the PC and the M5000 but it says there are no changes. I have 130 contacts on my PC and only 114 on my M5000. I've tried the three latest official and unofficial builds of ActiveSync including the new official one that came out yesterday. I've tried:
1. Editing the contacts on the PC to see if the M5000 picks up the changes - NO
2. Deleting the offending contact on the PC and creating them again - Finds it on the first sync but not again after
3. Creating the contact on the M5000 - Same as above, finds it on the first sync but not if I edit it later.
Plus, it doesn't sync notes on contacts - Is there any way around this as it's a function I could really really do with!
Is anyone else having similar problems?? Can anyone else Sync their notes?
Most importantly, anyone know how to fix it or get around it as this is a major problem for me as I simply don't trust it now!?!?

Yes - I'm currently running 4.1.4841 and I have tried the two versions before that (I uninstalled/rebooted each time before trying different versions)
Right... I've removed and reinstalled Outlook 2003 and ActiveSync 4.1.481 and I've sorted it now! The contacts that did not Sync all had either photos or notes so they wouldn't sync - Don't know if this is normal or not but definitely the case here!
I've now deleted the notes and photos where necessary and everythings syncs nicely now.
Note: I've still got my old SPV C500 here and have found the following:
Contacts with no notes = Syncs on C500 AND M5000
Contacts with notes = Syncs on C500 but NOT M5000
Contacts with photos = Syncs on C500 but NOT M5000
If I make a new contact on my M5000 and add notes it syncs fine with the PC the fisrt time but not after I edit it on the PC.

I would like to ask you for help.
I decided to change ROM from T-Mobile 1.6 to Mr.Clean 2.24. Reinstal was Ok, i have also reinstalled ActiveSync, deleted old partnership and created new one, started synchronization of Contacts and Callendar, etc...
Everything seemed fine until I realized that not all Contacts and Callendar items synchronized. From Contacts i had synchronized only about half of them...
I found that Contacts with text note or picture and also Callendar items with text note created on PC Outlook won´t sync.
Than I have tried several other ROMs including previous 1.6, several ActiveSync reinstalations, partnership delletions on Vario and PC.... but after all I am not able to sync any Contact or Callendar item with text note. Synchronization looks Ok, but Contacts or Callendar items with text note from PC Outlook are not visible on my Vario.
It´s driving me mad...
Please can somebody help me ? What could go wrong ?

When I sync my TyTN with my laptop, the notes for the appointments don't sync from my pc to my pda. It works the other way, so notes made on the pda are on the pc.
With tasks and contacts it also works both ways, so I am wondering quite a bit about why those notes don't work

Are you talking about 'notes' or the notes on the actual appointments in outlook?
Are you/have you been using any kind of PIM?
Are you /have you been using any kind of 3rd party notes program?
What version of desktop outlook are you using?
Have you moved anything eg databases to your storage card using sk tools, memmaid etc?
This must be really irritating for you, I know I really rely on notes a lot.
It is the notes that are in the appointments them selves. So when I make a new appointment on the pda, and make a note as part of the appointment, both note and appointment sync. When I do the same on my laptop, only the appointment, and not the notes for it, syncs.
I am using Outlook 2007 beta 2 and syncing with AS 4.2.
The notes for the appointments are the only thing not working 100 %. The contacts notes and the tasks notes works fine, as well as the notes them selves.
Maybe it's a prob with 2007 beta?
I'm using 2003, so I can't help you there. Maybe someone else on the forum is using this and can confirm that they don't have this problem.

Just noticed the latest version of PC Companion (updated today) includes 'Sync Zone' which allows you to sync your phone Calendar and Contacts with Outlook 'via Google'.
Haven't tried it, cos I got this set up ages ago using gSyncit, but, obviously, Sync Zone is free so good news for anyone who wants to do this but hasn't worked out how to yet.

mine showed up finally. works good, some of my merged contacts come into outlook wrong.
I have the update also and I am using it now to sync the contacts between my Google and Outlook now, I use companionlink software to sync previously.
I tried this, and it seems to work well enought. Only problem is it doesn't let you select what Outlook profile you want to sync. In my case, I have two Outlook profiles setups (one for me, and one for my wife). When I tried to sync my wifes contacts onto her phone it grab my profile and merged my contacts with hers.
Anyone know how tell it to use another Outlook profile?

I assume you are using two profiles under the one Windows log on.
The best way is for your wife to logon as a different Windows user. In that way everything is kept separate. It makes life a lot simpler.
This is great news for me. Add the improvements with 2.1.A.0.435, including multitouch and video editing and SE is starting off the new year pretty well. Although, you wouldn't know it with all the whiners bashing SE here on xda.

I've tried and worked OK for me... callendar and contacts sincronized... the problem is, MS Outlook works very bad with Gmail IMAP account, and crash every time i try to move a mail from one folder to another.
So far, back to Mozilla Thunderbird for me.

It has totally screwed up my contacts - added random e-mail addresses where they shouldn't be and deleted contacts it shouldn't have. I've used sync software for years, and I understand how it should work - be warned - it doesn't - if you want to try it, make a back-up of *both* address books first.

i look at Dashboard and only my bookmarks were synced
Everyone should be careful with their outlook sync. Google uses non-standard labels for contact fields. If you have custom labels for anything, it will not translate well to outlook. Same thing with their imap protocols.

is anyone else having this problem - when I generate an Outlook appointment, it synchs to Google Calendar fine, when when it re-syncs, it rolls back the time & date in Outlook Calendar ...... ??????????
