Hi peeps,
I have a requirement to disable the front end to the phone application on an XDAIIi.
The application is cprog.exe in the windows directory on the device. (The application thats allows you to dial numbers etc)
I have tried to rename the .exe but i believe it has some kind of protection on it? I have been unable to rename it from the device, or via activesync.
Can anybody sugest how i do this?
Thanks,
Noodle.

Does anyone know if it's possible to look at the call history file so that it could be printed out from the host PC ?
Would be useful when filling out expenses claims to list all calls which were business related.
Thanks
Call history
Im looking for the same thing. A way to printout the call history, does anyone know a way or prehaps the Call history file name?
The file name is clog.db in the databases folder. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the databases on the XDA can be opened.
here are some options as to which programs on pc may be able to open the file with the db extention
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=db&goButton=Go
Thnx al lot crippsa and Rudegar, found the clog.db file and am able to open it with DBView.
Hi boeloe44,
I'm interested to know how you accessed the clog.db file with DBView. Is this the ARANAY DBView program ? (DBView V2) or another PPC application of the same name ?
I've tried the Aranay DBView which runs on the host PC and cannot seem to get it to connect to my XDA to read the DB files.
Any assistance you may be able to give would be appreciated.
Thanks
Alan
why not just copy the file to the pc that should make access a bit easier

Actualy dbview didn't help as i thought it would. I could only view the clog file with it and nothing else.
I found another program and this one did help me, its dbexlporer.

Here you can download a trail version
With dbexplorer you can export a database to a comma separated file. This file is accessable and you can copy the file from your ppc to a desktop pc and open it with Microsoft Excel.
This is my way for printing out the call history, hoop it helps you crippsa.
To Rudegar: I was unable to find a way to copy the database to my desktop pc. I think the databases are lock or something.
I use Phone Dashboard for this purpose. It also tracks usage overall with some powerful filters such as free mobile-to-mobile plans, night/weekend, etc.
Thanks boeloe44 - DBExplorer is just the job, exports all the fields including the contact name - just what I'm looking for.
Phone Dashboard is good, but you still cant print the call log on the host PC and also it does not show the contact name. It only shows date, time, number and length. Unless of course the trial edition I'm using has less features that the full copy.
I've noticed that the clog.db only holds 50 entries, does anybody know if this can be expanded ?
Thanks,
Alan
The clog.db file certainly will hold thousands of entries. You can change the deletion settings by going to the phone, then call history, click on the tools menu, call timers...
Thanks Carlos - I've since found that Phone Dashboard can export the log file but it still doesn't contain the contact name, which is a pity as having it saves time by not having to look up the number to see if it was a personal or business call.
Thanks for advising how to adjust the deletion time on the clog database.
Alan
I've passed a comment to Hudson Mobile Technolgies (makers of Phone Dashboard) to include the name field in future releases of Dashboard
That would be a good idea. Another idea I sent him was to include the contact's CATEGORY. Then I'd have "client" in the field and would know to bill it. Right now I simply sort in Excel and search on the known billable numbers. Not as accurate or quick.
Overall though, that product is a very nice one to have on my phone. It has saved me money when I've been close to going over my plan. I don't know how it is in Europe, but US carriers screw you on overage (35-40 cents per minute).
Hi,
on a WM Smartphone you can hide the SIM contacts by going to Start/Settings/Phone/Call Options and unticking the "Show SIM contacts" box.
Is there a simular setting on WM5 pocketPC?
Or maybe a registry that handles that?
nobody knows?
Yes, and here's the cab file from the T-Mob ext rom to do it for you.
Hope it helps, don't know if it needs to be run after a hard reset or if it will work anytime for this.
Joe
Thanks a lot. It works!
And just for the curious: the important option in the .cab is one registry key:
Under HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone add a new DWORD value named "ShowSim" and set it to 0. No need to soft reset the contacts will be hidden when you next open the contacts window.
BTW:
this registry setting does not affect the "Smart Dialing" list direct. But if you first start the contacts application before starting the phone app for the first time after a soft reset, the sim contacts will also be hidden in the smart dialing list.
I hope this helps everyone who keeps contacts on his sim card but doesnot wont to see dublicates after importing contacts.
Which cab file is it in the t-mobile extended rom?

I've been trying to figure out a way to copy the vmail.exe program from my I-mate SP5 smartphone over to my Cingular 8525. Evidently it is protected in the SP5 and won't send. I've tried using Rescoe Explorer to move it and I even went back and ran the SDA Unlock application that I got from another forum, but I still can't get it to beam successfully.
My goal was to use the PUSH and HOLD feature for the PTT button to call my voicemail by assigning it in the Buttons Feature.
SO...
1) How can I transfer the file from the SP5 to the 8525?
2) Will the vmail.exe application even work if I can get it there?
Thanks,

2. Why do you need an answering machine? Do you not have voicemail?
3. Why? There is only a few rare viruses out there for windows mobile and it's hard to get them unless you randomly install files that you find. You can't infect the phone without actually installing the file.
5. I used to love that program...
6. To protect them from...? Being deleted? Receiving them? From the dog?
Either way, do a little search, or if you want to ask a larger user base, ask the general forums whenever you don't have device specific questions.
Hi,
sometimes I want to dial a code and append a phone number of a stored contact.
Result should be like this (only example):
#31#phonenumber
But when I type #31# there is no way to insert a stored phone number.
What can I do? Thx for help.
I am surprised - from my point of view it is a very basic feature of mobile phones.
There is no hint or soluion?
Nobody else with this issue?
I remember that
You could use VITO copy paste to solve this problem.
Thanks for the first reply .
have read about your recommendation. Using VITO copy paste requires follwing steps (if it works in the dialer of TouchFlo):
- Open a contact
- Click to edit the contact (to get an textfield)
- Copy the number
- Open the dialer
- Write the code
- Paste the number
Hmm, no easy way to choose a contact directly from the input field of the dialer?
Hmm, Than im afraid cant help you further..
Alternatively you could manually hide it ( Start/Settings/Phone )
But i think thats common knowledge for you
However, there does not seem to be a chance to use this basic feature.
I asked once more in Rhodium forum and got a very good tool as workaround:
