When I turn on my Xda II, it just keeps trying to increase the volume. It keeps beeping (as it does any time you change the volume either with the hardware slide or the stylus). It just does this over and over continuously. I have tried a hard-reset which didn't help.
My guess is that the volume slide is stuck or shorted. Even if I hold the slide down, though, the problem just keeps happening. If I have to send it in for service, it will be gone for a month and I don't trust the service center where I have to send it.
I may open it up and try cleaning it. I need to fix the stupid speaker spring problem anyway. The unit is over 1 year old, so my warranty has expired. I'm not loving O2 at the moment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Corey
i have the same problem
that is soooo sad
i have the same problem
Does the volume slider still spring back into the middle after you press it doen or up?
Related
I've just got an O2 XDA mini S, which is great now the O2 Active thing has been disabled, but the slider switch/volume control on the side (top left) of the unit is misbehaving.
When I switch the unit on, the volume control appears and shoots to the top as if I'm holding the slider switch up, although the 'up' part of the switch doesn't even seem to do anything the rest of the time. It's pretty irritating, although it doesn't affect the unit the rest of the time.
Does this sound like a software bug, or a faulty switch?
Any advice would be appreciated before I return the unit to O2.
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like hardware to me
Unless something is jammed in it, it sounds like the switch is stuck to me. I'd take it back.
Hi Guy's
I am getting annoyed with Internet Explorer. It keeps opening when I recieve a call. As I end the call there is a pop up box asking if I want to connect. I allways say no and then close IE. Does anybody know how to stop IE doing this as it is a pain. I only want to open it when I want to go on the internet and not on almost every call.
TIA
this could be a dumb question, but are you accidentally pressing the IE button with your cheek when you make a call?
Maybe not such a dumb question, considering where the button is it is possible the when i put the phone to my ear it does touch my cheek without my noticeing it. I will experiment.
if it is the case is ther a way to dissable that button
TIA
I cannot imagine that is the case; you have to press the button pretty hard (on my device anyway); I think you would hurt your ear or at least hear the "click" if you happen to accidently pressing the device that hard to the ear.

believe it or not there have been multiple TyTN users that never noticed the top rocker button... and there have been more than a few complaints about IE and Mail starting in the middle of a conversation...
coincidence? Methinks not...
My TyT sometimes srarts up IE for no apparent reason... ummm... Holy Crap! That bar over the lights is a rocker button? Crap, I've been using this thing for over three weeks and never knew about it. Thought the drawn on icons were just to represent the lights (internet happens to be above the WiFi light). Wonder how I missed that, considering I have read the entire instruction booklet.
Hi Guy's
Well I have solved my problem with IE, as goestoeleven pointed out I could be pressing the "WnW" button by mistake. Well I had a call today which I did not put the phone to my face but used the speaker, yep it still did it.
The problem I found was not to me pressing the button on the phone but putting it into the case supplied with the phone. As you can see the buttons are slighly raised (this does not help).
Every time I put the phone into the case, because the lid has two strong magnets it slaps shut quite hard. This force causes the button to be pushed in and thereby starting IE. This tends to happen mainly if the screen is facing out.
I thought it was every time I answered a call that IE started but it was already on from the last time I put it in the holster.
To resolve this make sure the screen is facing inward so the magnets are on the back, this should reduce the impact.
But!!! I supposed if you have the phone on the holster and nock into something this cauld also trigger IE.
It would have been better if the button were recessed then it would not happen.
I hope this will solve this issue for some of you at least
P.S. This will might also answear the "Mail" starting on its own as the button is also on the same rocker although this has not happend to me...

Hi XDA.
One day my "down directional button" stoped working correctly. When pressed nothing happens, however the up, left and right buttons work as do all the other buttons and functions on the wizard.
And sometimes the wizard thinks the down button is pressed so it starts scrolling down even though the button isn't pressed.
I have reflashed a few times and dissasembled the whole wizard with no visible errors.
Does anyone have any idea to what i can do to get it to work again? Please help me as it is now blocking incomming calls and does other crap.
Hi Mate
I have the same situation but on the right key. Upto now didn't find any solution. Driving me nuts. When I receive an sms late at night it ends up wasting all the battery . . . .
Hope someone comes up with a solution.
The lcd/digitalizer, mail/internet/led/speaker-board and yes/no/softkeys/d-pad/enter-board are all leaded together. so one can't just change one of the parts in the top sliding half of the phone. but there is a connector between the halfs, so if you have an other wizard that is broken you can combine the two.
but i only have one wizard =(
Hey all, just checking to see if anyone else has had problems with their volume rocker. In the two weeks that I've had the phone, about half a dozen times it has become stuck on the volume(-) down button. This forces the phone from Ringer -> Silent -> Vibrate, where it sticks just vibrating continuously.
When this would happen, a quick tap of the volume(+) up button solved the problem, However... somehow the (-)button is now permanently jammed. I have no idea how this could have happened as I treat my phone better than my own body.
To top it off, I tried restarting the phone because it was not responding due to the stuck volume rocker, and now I'm stuck at the boot loader
gunna take it back ASAP. Anyone else had their G2 volume button stick before?
I've had this happen many times but its not the button getting stuck. It happens when I never touch the button as well. Right now the phone is also doing random vibrates when using the optical pad. Might have to give tmobile a call now.
I don't have this problem but sometimes a slight touch to the volume down button presses it

wow that would be annoying, but no i have never had that problem a single time
i too has this happen to me. i will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, i am going to call tmo. this phone seems to have alot of hardware issues.
Oh, yes. I know I wasn't crazy!
Has it happened that it stays vibrating after an unlock?

no problem here
did you get some sticky substances on the side of your phone?
I push volume down all the time by accident when I'm typing with the hardware keyboard. Never got stuck though.

Got this phone for my wife and it is happening to her all the time...
If it continues we may be returning it for a new one.
so I just noticed the lights for my hardware buttons are stuck on, happens from the moment the phone turns on, and nothing changes it (though they seem to dim slightly) I've tried reflashing the phone (using mdj cyanogen 2.7, nand with magldr 1.12)
I tried searching and havent seen anything like this. Only thing I can think is maybe it got a little wet(?) while I was recording video during a snow storm here, but nothing else seemed wrong, just got home and noticed it. Any ideas?
I have the exact same problem. I've flashed back to the original windows mobile rom and the problem is still there! I've searched and yet to find the solution. Anyone got any ideas?
Check to see if you have a voicemail - you may have read it but closed VM before listening to all the message, it can on occasions do this - it I'm right just ring your phone leave a fresh VM then go into VM and listen to the whole message
Thanks for the reply, but no dice on this one. I tried the voicemail thing and I have no voicemails.
To clarify it's the bottom 5 buttons (call, home, windows, back and power) that are constantly lit up. Even when the phone goes on standby those buttons stay lit. I'm looking to see if there's an app that can just shut them off.
I got the same problem. My hd2 got some water on it and the problem started. The hardware keys now getting dim but not getting completely off. There is no other problem
Please help.

Thanks, I will try the rom.
But do u really think its a rom problem ? The keys light were working fine before the water hazard in the same existing rom. Besides the problem is also there when u are in the boot menu of MAGLDR or Clockwork menu.
any updates from anyone? On miy HD2 the vol up, start, back & end call key don't respond to any presses but seem to be active. Calls will randomly end, vol up acts as if the button is kept pressed!
Help!
Hi guys,
A little bump in this thread, but is there already found a solution for this problem?
After a hard reset and replacing the digitizer of my htc HD2, the buttonlights remain on. Even when the phone gets in standby mode.
I'm using cyanogenmod 7. (bought it like this. Didn't put android on it myself)
After the hard reset and digitizer replacement there also came another problem.
When pushing the windows logo (key 158) the volume up button also reacts (key 115). Thesame problem occurs when pushing the dial button. With that key (231), key 114 (volume down) reacts.
So when i want to open a menu or make a call the volume goes up or down.
Do you guys think I screwed something up when replacing my digitizer or is it just an software issue caused by the hard reset?
All right guys, it was an hardware failure.
I reopened my htc and checked all the connectors and (re)placed some of the yellow tape. After the reassembly, my phone just works as it should. All problems are solved.
My HTC HD2 also got the keys stuck after only a week of use. T-Mobile is sending me a replacement phone today.
Is this a common problem? I'm afraid it may happen again.
Hey guys I'm having same issue. Going to try opening up and check connectors.
