Hi!
Anyone could help me out!?
I place a file "powerstatus" into the startup folder.. What I can do to remove the file inorder to prevent it from starting up. I can't delete while its running and I there is no option for me to close it when its on. ... . Only way is delete it from startup folder.. . but how to i close the file??
Pls help ..
Rename the link in startup, softreset, then delete the link in startup, delete the file as well if you dont need it.
and if you put an exe file in startup (not sure if you can do that but)
then you just remove it from program.exe to program.exe.uncle
then softreset it
unless you use the extention uncle for something else it should just fail to start and then you can delete it
I have tired to rename it, but no use. tried to cut it out, no use, tried to overwrite with a blank startup folder, no use too..
Yes, its an exe file, anyway to close program that is not reflected on "running program" ?
The "Powerstatus" is running, but I cant find a way to close it, I have tired the program which make the PDA go into safe mode, but can't work
I am using WM2005.
Any expert with any solutions?
Thanks very much in advance. .. .
Move the Startup folder to somewhere else My Documents for example and reset.
Afterwhich you can delete the file and replace the Startup folder back in Windows directory.
tried that before.. The startup folder with the "powerstatus" will still be there even thou i cut the whole thing out. Plus, cos the file is running, i cannot delete, move, overwrite it. . . so i think need a way to close it...
Anyone know how to close programs that is running in the background where it will not show on the "Running Program"?
Happens to me but use the resco file explorer to rename the files, softreset ( prompts you ''theres no application associated with ''powerstatus.exe''....), tap start(repeat until the menu drops) then open again the resco file explorer, goto windows/startup and delete the file.
EASY....
yeah it could be a fileexplore thing ms's filemanagers like to protect people from extentions which is why many people use reso or totalcommander
Kill the process in memory
Can't you just kill the process in memory?

What about renaming the startup folder to something else and soft reset?
Safemode
Download and install "Safemode"
Soft reset your device
Just after the device restarts, tap on the upper part of the screen: your device starts in "safemode"
Delete whatever you want from the startup folder
Soft reset, and let the device start normally (without tapping on the upper part of the screen)
I just hard reset my magician. Since i'm using big storage (my friend did it), only some of the cab files from extended_rom are installed. Now i just found out that my smart dialing, MMS, O2 plus are not included. It was easy to recover those programs since i know the cab files.
However, i cant find the right cab for "Running Programs". Does anyone know which one? Thx.
Sorry for the bad language
Running programs - do you mean in Settings > system > memory > running programs?
If you need a task killer I can send you one or there's many around.
V
That's the one. Thx . So actually it's not a stand-alone program. Yes i found the running programs.
So, the question is changed now. I need the shortcut to that program. Usually magician has the blue box icon with a picture of someone running. Do you know the shortcut?
Thx.
Just tried to restore that icon from my old backup before it crashed. I thought it was just only a link to some program. But it is not! It is an exe file and after i restored it, click the Running Programs, it says "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename".
Any clues?
My Running Programs app is in the "default_103133" CAB file from my Mini. I run this file after hard reset.
What does that file do? Just open up the running programs control panel?
If you need it back, just type the following into a text file on your PPC
Code:
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2
and save it as Memory.lnk
Then double click on that file.
Tell me if it works ok.

@vijay
i just wanna return my magician to the default system . that's why i'm so curious to get back that program.
@ampda
i'll try that file. thx for the info.
I can post my CAB file but it will also add the O2 xda defaults that can with the Aussie unit

Thats right....just install that cab file "default_103133.cab" and you will have your Running Programs app back....that is, if you saved your Ext ROM files before doing the Big Storage patch, or someone can attach that cab file here.
Now my problem is (sorry this might be Off-topic) , how can I have back the AUTOCONFIG for different Telcos, (especially Asian) ? Its also gone after the Big Storage patch. I dont know which of the cab files I need to have it back
anyone have idea or is there a forum for this in Magician?
thanks...
THANK YOU!!! finally i can access my running programs.
anyway, ive another question . let's say i want that program to be installed automatically after I hard reset. how can you do that? so i do not have to restore them manually from my sd card. thx.

To get the menu and icon run O2Auto.sa.CAB, then install the telco(s) you want to be in the autoconfiq menu.
@nsriza, thanks!!! As simple as this, and I can have my Autoconfig back already?
I thought I need to manually edit the autoconfig.txt to change the paths of the cab files?
Btw, I have already installed the cab files for all the Telcos that I need....but not the O2Auto.sa.CAB yet. Is it okay if I install that O2Auto then install again the Telco cabs?
Thanks...
So has anyone knew how to setup auto installation for cab files (eg. MMS, SmartDialing etc) after hard reset? thx
another OOT question...what does autoconfig.txt and config.txt do? and how to use it?
thx
Im assuming your asking for auto installation for after a hard reset using big storage. if you search for "AutoRUn" on this forum you should find a link on how to create an autorun folder on your storage card. you need the autorun.exe (Found in the search for the link) and a folder called 2577 created in the root directory of your storage card. then all you need to do is add all the CABs that you want to auto install after a HR to a ZIP (not Rar) archive and call that archive extROM.zip. then put that in your 2577 directory and hardreset and it will install all the files in the zip. if you havent already installed the cabs you put in the zip it will actually start installing them as soon as you insert the SD card. have a search around you will find lots of info about this subject.

@Speedn
thx for the suggestion. it's very helpful.
@rockafeller
hi i used big storage to convert my german rom (o2 xda mini) to wwe 1.12. now i lost some features like MMS,Smart dialling, Home zone control, O2plus. (as it was the case with you). It would be great if you could share here how did you get them back to work? i mean, i want the procedure to do so. i have a backup of my german rom.
one more question. i dont see the Phone pad option in my text input list after the bigstorage patch. how can i get it back. any suggestions would be so great..
thanx in advance
kk
@visvaram
if you backup ur extended_ROM, u should able to find related cab files, such as MMS**.cab, SMARTDIALING**.cab. Just tap those files and it will be installed automatically. FYI, backup ur cab files first b4 installing.
Im not sure about O2plus and zone files. Anyone care to help?
Hi,
have updated my Qtek 9100 to the new ROM.
When I insert a SD-Card nothing happens.
On my SD-Card is a folder named 2577 with an Programfile Autorun.exe.
On the old Version the Autorun.exe was started after inserting the same SD-Card.
Any idea ?
the only time i've seen that directory is after a TomTom Navigator installation. did you install that recently?
Folder 2577
Yes g0nk you are correct - this folder is with reference to TomTom.
For some reason this folder conflicts with Windows Mobile 5 version - the only way to install the program is by accessing the folder manually and selecting the autorun program - it should then install the rest of the application as normal!
No, I use it for myself with mortscript.
I have made a autoinstaller using mortsript which installs certain files when inserting the sd-card.
So it's not the TomTom one.
But still there is a problem with the new ROM (ore the CABs from Qtek).

The old rom of mine had the same problem... i've double clicked the ttn.cab file to install TomTom 5.21..
Sorry if this seems a 'dumb ass question' but I'm new to this.
I want to make the adjustments to speed up my XDA Mini S as it seems awfully slow to start programs compared to my old XDA.
I have just downloaded the registerywizard and unzipped it to my desktop but where on my device do I drop the files? in which folder?
Sorry if it seems obvious to you guys but it's not to me.
Cheers
Hi, activesync your device and you can place them anywhere on your device but most people place them in \my documents and with a file explorer on the device click on the cab and it will install reg wizard on the device. Have you got both files needed for the installation?
When you say both files, do you mean RegistryWizard_PPC.ARMV4 & OpenNETCF.SDF.wce4.armv4??
One of the things that really bugs me is my device is for ever telling me I'm running low on memory and yet program memory always has loads of space (I also have a 1Gb card) I understand that the split can be changed from 50-50 using the registry?
Cheers
Thats right both those files are needed for registry wizard to work.
There is no way you can change the memory split in wm5, that was only with wm2003 etc..
You have to find a way to free up memory - I have 25mb after a soft reset. You say program memory is always ok - thats equivalent to ram, so maybe its storage memory thats low and asking you to free up memory? Empty internet explorer cache etc...
Ok thanks for that. I have cleared the cache which freed up 0.5 mb but I still only have 4Mb of free storage space on my device storage?
The only thing I have installed is Tom Tom since I got my XDA! (the maps are on my memory card and the program on my device) so why is there so little space?
Also I have downloaded the 2 files for the registry wizard and put them on my storage card but how do you run the reg wizard as there is no exe file or set up file?
Thanks
Have a look with file explorer on the device to see what is taking space - particularly look at \program files and \my documents. Can you recall how much program memory you had out of the box? It maybe the o2 extras that are filling it up and i imagine tom tom a pretty big install.
Use the attached treesize to look at memory - tells you at a glance how much memory is in each folder. Change default byte setting to kilobytes and its easier to interprate.
If you want to get rid of the o2 extras hard reset and then just as the o2 stuff is about to install do a soft reset - you will have a leaner and quicker device.
Hi, I put the file you suggested into my mem card but again, how do you run it?
there is no exe file or set up process, if I go to it from file explorer and click on it it says"There is no application associated...." the same as I get with the registry wizard??
Sorry if this is basic to you guys but I'm confused.
Incidentally the memory info is as follows:
Storage
Total 47.46
In Use 43.00
Free 4.47
Program
Total 44.01
In Use 23.31
Free 20.70
If I was to do a Hard re-set and stop all the o2 stuff installing, will it remember all the o2 service/message centre info for texting and voice mail etc?
Cheers
Thats a self installing cab - should start installing when you click on it through file explorer on your device. If it wont you have a glitch.
Find enclosed the exe - to be run on the device.
And no you will loose all your settings so you would have to write them all down before you hard reset etc... No fear we are here
Yep you storage is really full - thats your problem
I must have a clitch of some kind then as there is no file in the download to facilitate an install, same goes for the registry wizard I guess then file I downloaded then?
For example I only have 2 files on the 'tree' file after unziping, how many should there be?
Do you have a Reg wizard info to enable me to install it?
Cheers
It's a cab file - it should not be unzipped (but you are right there should be 2 files in the cab) - click on the treesize.cab or regwiz.cab through explorer on your device. They are self installing.
Well that's odd then as there is no cab file??
I have 2 files after downloading and unziping, they are:
TREESI~1.000 and TreeSize.001
It downloads it as at winrar file on my desktop so I have to then unzip it?
is it something with a setting when I download from this forum?
Hi, does not need to be unzipped place the whole file on the device and click on it.
Thanks you for that, I was assuming because it was a winrar file I had to unzip it, now installed
However I get an error message when I try to run the registry wizard, it states "an unexpected error has occured in registry wizard.exe" (in the details it says TypeLoadExeption, could not load type OpenNetCF.Win32.RegistryKey from assembly OpenNetCF)
I have tried soft resetting but this has made no difference, any suggestions?
Sorry to be a pain here but I really do appreciate your help here
I have also now moved the Tom Tom program to my storage card and I now have 26Mb free space now.
Have you installed this opennetCF? http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=9341
Its needed for reg wizard.
Thats cool got your memory back - tom tom what a hog!
Yes, I installed both???
I have tried removing the program and re-installing and soft resetting again but still I'm getting the same error??
Now just when I thought I was sorted.... :?
Are you installing reg wizard to main memory rather than storage card?
If you are, uninstall and try over again - are you using latest version 't'?
Yes I was putting both files into my storage card, is that that wrong then?
Thanks
Install onto device not the memory card
Done that now, all is working  .... thank you for all your help Mark, it's much appreciated.
Hi
This is work but afther soft reset system replace it:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
Any ideas how to fix it, beouse MSN and other programs start to use 3G when phone is standby.
my device keeps WiFi on even in standby out of the box. it will only shut WiFi off when I manually turn it off. it came like this out of the box.
Exactly the same for me, anyone?
I have a T-Mobile HD2 and as default wifi isn't active during standby. The registry key works but a soft reset will revert it to '0', so I wrote the following simple Mortscript and placed a shortcut to it in the /Windows/Startup folder (place the file on your device and using the file explorer copy and 'paste shortcut' into the startup folder). It works well.
You will of course need to install Mortscript for this to work.
yippee wifi stays connected
my htc hd2 outta the box stayed connected to wifi until i told it to disconnect, after installing a few programs and tweaking the reg etc and after a hard reset i noticed this wouldnt stay connected, annoying!
thanks for this little tweak you have, it works great and the only thing have found to work properly.
regards
No problem, I use it constantly and will until a ROM incorporates a fix.

Thanks, I will give this a go.
Working nicely. Many thanks. Much better than the other Mortscript solution "Don'tSleep" which still drains battery because screen is on while connected.
No problem. I didn't come across the other mortscript fix and the wifi switching off was doing my head in. Glad there's a simple registry key.
Thank yo for this script profahmad.
Wich folder you mean exactly? I dont found on my System Startup (it is a german device).
Mean you AutoStart?
Best regards Theo
Copy the file to any location on your phone or storage card, then using the file explorer highlight it and select 'copy', then navigate to /Windows/Startup and paste shortcut (not simply 'paste').
Am I missing the point: is the /Windows/Startup folder not showing on your device?
Thanks for creating and sharing this script. It works great if I simply run it after startup, but for some reason it is not executing automatically on startup. I followed your instructions and have a shortcut to the script (which I stuck in My Documents) in /Windows/Startup. I installed MortScript to my device as well. I have an ATT Tilt 2. Is there something more I need to do, perhaps with MortScript, to get the script to run at startup?

Yeah, I only have the Startup folder - no Autostart.

Disregard - appears to be user error. Works great
Can I just make sure I've got this right? You install the MortScript cab file, which then appears in the Start menu, yes? Then, is it the little Wifi zip file you have to create a shortcut to, and do you have to unzip it first?

Yeah, install Mortscript for the functionality but you won't need to do anything with it after that. Unzip the wifi script anywhere on the device and place the shortcut in the startup folder.
That's what I did and kept getting an error message on boot up, something like, "The file 'Mortscript' cannot be opened. Either the app is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one or more components cannot be found."
Hmm. Install BSB Tweaks and enable Allow unsigned applications.
That worked, thanks. Now I have to see if it kills my battery.
