It seems that windows mobile sdk (win32) does not include FindWindowEx, is there a replacement? How can I find the handle of a button in a window without it?
Use API FindWindow and then GetWindow.
Perfect, Thanks. I wonder why they left FindWindowEx out of the mobile sdk...
Some design decisions in Windows Mobile API are pretty poor
Hi,
Microsoft released a beta from a programm, to watch informations about your vista computer.
is there more software like this, for example, to see the temps from your cpu, or is is possible to use your pocket pc as an second display? like for icq?

Now any Windows Mobile 5 or 6 phone can work as a Bluetooth Windows SideShow device! We've got some favorite uses of it already, including using it to control PowerPoint presentations while viewing the speaker notes, using it as a remote control to Windows Media Player, and viewing RSS feeds on the road.

I've been doing this for a bit now with Ikanos Consulting's Go Gadgets!
How is this new news?
Probably because it is microsoft releasing it's sideshow like enhancements. If that is old news for developers, it is probably new news for users. Marketing i guess
I really don't understand how this is any different than downloading a few feeds from the web?
What would be useful would be to treat your phone as an external display (monitor) for extending your desktop.
Hr.
You want a secondary display right ?
your desktop pc on your ppc ?
try this one then below its innobec.com
Innobec.Side.Window.for.Pocket.PC.v1.02 google it maybe a torrent somewhere

Bumping this one. Innobec looked great. Except I'm running Win7 and it won't support even Windows Vista. As a matter of fact, the latest release is dated on 2005!
Do anybody knows any software similar to this one?
Me too i'm searching for a software to use the screen of my Touch HD (800x480) under XP (office computer) and Vista or Seven at home.
Any recent tool that is able to do this?
Zonescreen
Zonescreen can add virtual monitors to Windows. Any VNC viewer program can act as the display for those monitors. There are some limitations for Vista/Windows 7, and I have not tried it there yet.

Thanks, d-signet for the updated link.
But I found that Windows Sideshow is, today, the worst implementation of a very good idea. It's limited, slow, tedious to set-up, I will only work through Bluetooth... A shame.
That's the reason because I'm looking for something else.
Does anyone have an update to this?
Sideshow only works with bluetooth and nobody has bluetooth on a normal desktop computer.
sidewindow doesnt work with vista/win7.
the VNC thing doesnt really work.
I would really love to use my pocket pc to show cpu load, temps, FPS etc
If you have Win 7 Pro or something above that you can use Win XP as a virtual machine. It has worked amazingly with other hardware/software that didn't work in 7.
good luck.
anybody found any good solution for this? i really want to use my pda as an extra monitor.
I also searchin' for such app. Nobody knows a solution? Any news of develepment?
Finally found iDisplay. Otra will allow you to use HD2 as another display... but only for Android. Guess WinMo OS dying.
Sent from my Android Powered HD2 using XDA App
I am looking at liberating my Shift.
I want to load 3 to 4 Windows Mobile apps plus maybe Real VGA
Office Mobile
Opera Mobile 8.6 or 9.5
NewsGator Mobile
Live Search
IM + maybe
In what memory (ROM/RAM or HDD) do these programs reside?
Are these limits of what apps you can load on Snapview when liberated?
Assistance would be appreciated.
Dave
www.logmein.com, the free Remote Desktop Program is now mobile for those of you who didn't know.
I just tried it on my WM6.1 and it works great! Works through firewalls, routers, and no need for a static IP!
SO SWEET! I'm going to try this out now. I've been waiting a long time for this news.
Thanks!
I've been using it for a long time, maybe a couple of years now, on my WM phones to remotely operate PCs.
Are you saying something else changed?
Yes, now they actually have a mobile version thats better quality and easier to navigate, as far as I've known, this is new.
All I saw was a desktop version that lets you see your mobile from your desktop. Is there a version that lets you see your desktop from your mobile? If so, can you provide the URL?

As I said, I have been controlling my desktop comupters for free using LogMeIn on my mobile using a specific mobile install for a few years now.
It has worked (and worked well I may add) on my mobile.

After a little research, it appears this has been available since 2006.
As I said, not exactly new.
It looks like it just has a 30 day or 120 minute free trial. How is it free?
remotelyanywhere (from same company) allows you to have full control of your pc through pda... it has a plugin for pocketIE that completely blows remote desktop out of the water.

"LogMeIn Free" would be, umm, FREE!
The free version doesn't allow to to transfer files or remotely print.
Used it FREE for years on my PDAs and PCs.

LogMeIn free is terrific. I use it for many purposes, including remotely controlling desktop PCs when I'm on the road.
And... it IS free.
