Using UMTS phone with Bluetooth as Modem for Magician - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi All,
is it possible to use a Bluetooth connection to an
external UMTS mobile phone and use this UMTS phone
as a modem for the Magician to surf the Internet in UMTS speed ?
What UMTS phones could be used for this ?
Could this also be done via USB cable to save electrical power,
cause BT always uses up much power ?
Have there already some UMTS phones be tested to work
as a Modem for the Magician ?
I own a O2 XDA mini and want to use the German O2 based WAP
Flatrate to surf the Internet via UMTS this way on my XDA mini.
Thanks.
Regards, Stefan.

GSM and modem speed

Hi,
we use AT&T as our network provider. While using laptop or PDA and Nokia 6310i connection speed is OK for GSM connections while using AT&T GSM line in Germany for example.
While using the XDA II standalone with AT&T dialer or as remote modem (via bluetooth) connection speed is much slower than using the 6310i.
While playing around with the CSD connection seetings it looks like that 9600 (v.34) doesn't work but v110 did.
Any ideas about optimised Init Strings for the built in modem.

3G over Wi-Fi ?

I'm thinkign of buyign a O2 XDA Exec, I wonder, can I use the wi-fi on the device to allow my laptop to connect to the web via the device's 3G ?
If not, this can be done in bluetooth, correct ?
cheers

I don't think you can use the Wi-Fi for this..
Never say never, but I don't think you can.
I KNOW you can't do that "out of the box"!
As for bluetooth; yes.
You use the BT Dial Up protocol..
Anybody connecting a powerbook to the web with a XDA Exec Bkluetooth ?
how's the speed ?[/img]

Use my HTC TyTN as a 3G USB-modem instead of Huawei E220

My provider is trying to sell a Huawei E220 to me so that I could be able to use the 3G network to surf on the internet with my laptop but a friend told me that my TyTN should be able to be used as a usb modem that would work with the 3G network instead of buying an extra device.
I will just have to pay the service charge of using the 3G network to get data.
Can someone here give me guidelines on how to make this work if possible?
I have HTC TyTN, a laptop, subscribed to 3G.
information on connection via bluetooth or USB is appreciated
you can do it with bluetooth
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...highlight=TyTN+(v1605)+as+bluetooth+modem...?
not sure if it works with usb
I have WM6 on my TyTN but I am having a tough time installing the USB modem driver on my PC
From my control panel, all I could see is the Motorola Fax modem and I have tried several times to install the HTC USB modem from this site to no success
I am using Vista and I have internet sharing on my TyTN
