My XDAIIi has an English ROM, but I text a lot in Italian.
It keeps on changing 'il' to 'I'll' - and it's driving me nuts!
Is there anyway I can stop it doing this?
Thanks everyone!
Conor
Can you turn off Autocorrect when typing?
Any help would be appreciated!
go to start -> setting -> Input
then tap in "word Completion" and then uncheck the last one "Replace text as you type".
and then try to type "il"...!
Thanks a million!
I've had XDA s for years now and never figured that out!
Thanks mate!

Hi, I own a Touch Dual and I'd like to disable XT9 for typing SMS. Each time you write an SMS you have to disable it (by pressing 'Sym' + '2'), isn't there any way to select 'ABC' mode by default? I have been searching a lot and didn't find anything.
Got it from HTC website, maybe you can give it a try.. Good luck!
I had easy gone to /start/settings/personal/input & select Tab "Word Completion" at the bottom, and de-select "Suggest words when entering text"
and it works on my Artemis until now.
Davince tried the CAB file and it works
Hello there,...
I got the problem that every time that I begin to write an SMS T9 is on. When I click on the softbutton to open the softKeyboard it says that 'ABC' is activated but it ain't. Actually T9 is activated but it doesn't show any word suggestions (only if I tap T9 in the menu, so that ABC is no more activated).
I got the Lilly Rom on my system.
Is there a ways to fix this problem?
regards,
Pete
How to disable T9?
There's no Croatian T9 dictionary so it is really annoying to have T9 turned on.
Or maybe if there is Croatian dictionary somebody could post it or link to it?
I searched thru general forums but anything I found there doesn't work.
Thank you very much.
well on my keyboard is on the top right a shifting-button named "ABC/T9"
Just switch it to the ABC and T9 is disabled.
Or do you mean in general?
I mean general.
When my keyboard pops up T9 is usulally on. And I usually forget that and start writing. Then I have to delete what I wrote and turn off T9 with that bottun.
And every time keyboard pops out T9 is on again (except when writing contacts and maybe some other times).
It is pretty annoying.
So, I would like to disable T9 complitely. (or to get Croatian dictionary)

Just did this, soft reseted and started writing new SMS.
And T9 was on
Any other ideas?
Try Shcaps Advanced Config (the black banner will still stay for listing sms recipients suggesting only one recipient - unconvenient)
or
download and install the cab from post #6 in the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357744

I installed this cab and I could only write numbers. there were no letters at all.
Then I installed Schaps Advanced Config but I couldnt find where to turn T9 off
But then I installed cab from post 11 from upper post. And it seems T9 is no more default input metod. I can turn it on but it isn't on by default.
I have to test it more but it seems it works.
P.S. I use default touch keyboard and I did all testings with it.
Thank you all for help
mane this is a good post, cause i was thinking like all day is their a way to turn it off, this whole time its been on the keyboard, ey thanks yall =)

I really can't stand XT9/T9 input, but each time i set it to ABC, it's back to XT9 the next time I replay on a sms. some places XT9 is disabled, but i want it completely disabled.
Anyone who can help me here?
I've tried browsing trough all settings, but cannot find anything about disabling xt9

And how do i disable that irritating xt9 permanently on my HTC s740?
Hi all.
Is there a way to disable XT9 text input on the mini? I've tried all sorts of stuff but the bar with the suggestion words keep coming up. I would like to use the plain ABC input instead of always having to correct my text entries, especially given that I use loads of technical words and the dictionary keeps wanting to correct them...
Thanks for you help!
look at settings - region and text (10) - text input (2)- text input options (3) and here turn everything off.
i have not an english version and do not know the exact namings, therfore the numbers. hope it helps.
thanks
thanks. phone's not with me right now. will try when I get home...
Wonderful! Just thought that there were some settings on the keyboard itself that would allow for the T9 disabling but was wrong! Can now do everything that I want, thanks!
Hi,
I have the Dutch version but when I go to country settings -> region, I only can select a country.
I don't see the text options.
Same problem, I'd like to switch it off.
Any help is appreciated!

Daan
no no no. Actually as birgit123 said it, it's not the "region" in the Start-Settings. You'll be able to access the "region and text" on the last tab at the bottom, going all the way to the right where you see Personalize as the first option. Scroll through there and you'll find what birgit123 said.
Hi, it sounds so simple and I'm a user of the Touch Diamond 2 for over a year now, completely knowing how to use and configure it but my wife got the HD Mini now and it's different.
Here some screens comparing my Diamond 2 with the HD Mini. As you can see I can switch off XT9 at the Diamond 2 but proceeding exaclty the same way on the Mini, I don't see the region and text option????
Can anybody help me out here, maybe a screenshot of a HD Mini for dummies (because that's how I feel now )
Once again, thanks for all the help!
