logmein.com - fantastic and free
Sir, thats the same as "remotelyanywhere"...
I having a play with it now, any ideas how to insall it on PPC ..
I downloaded an install file Setup.msi
How do I do this ??
Wow, you're right - had no idea.

No idea what you're talking about there, I'm using it right now to hit my desktop to reply to your post, from my WM5 HTC Universal...
*Edit - added in-use screen shot, resized way down - actual image quality is fantastic.
i used logmein on my PDA2K and now my T-Mobile MDA works great on both 2003SE and WM5.0
i just wish i had a bigger screen......
Did you use it thru PIE on WM5, cause I used thru Net Front 3.3...
It asks you to download some cab when you first use it, I did this, restarted and then it asked me to download again, again etc...
So using PIE ( pocket internet explorer ) does it work thru that ???
VNC...
I'm using RealVNC to start a VNC service on the desktop... You can download a free VNC server software from here:
http://www.realvnc.com/
As for the client, I'm using one from Mochasoft:
http://www.mochasoft.dk/vncce.htm
Low bandwidth requirement and most importantly speedy...

yes, must use PIE
Using TightVNC servic on the desktop (supports scaling) and .Net VNCviewer on the Exec. Good enough, fast enough, and free.
THE WINNER IS, HANDS DOWN...
z2 Remote2PC
Best Control, speed and visual controls, encryption, etc
For ease of use and "free is good" factor:
Logmein.com
- note:
When using logmein.com, PIE must be not be hacked. If changed from original version, it will not work (this was a month ago). Remote Desktop will connect but nothing will show up.
- tried with opera and also netfront, both didn't work for me.
opera would not even connect, and netfront will connect but won't show anything.
I concur with Net Front 3.3..
But z2 Remote PC, even after the Fuss of setting up an IP address at no-ip.com its all worth it.
I use PTvncWM5 to controll my home media pc.
It use verry low bandwidh on gprs
and looks great on Wifi
What do these offer beyond Terminal Services client? OK, TS logs you on in parallel on the server machine, but other than that? Seems pretty good on bandwidth and the age-old rule of "the less s/w you install, the less you'll screw up" applies
I got more toys and functions to play with via 2z remote2pc. Thats whyI chose this software.
If someone could help please. I have used the google search on this site and just google itself to no avial. Here is what I am looking for.
On my friends iphone he has a process by which he can access his home computer as long as it is online and gain file access to every folder in the pc. Kind of like ORB but it is a phone based application. He can then open those folders and download any content to the phone. Basically, it is a remote desktop type file search with out all the other unnecessary desktop controls.
I have seen many different possibilities from freeware to paid but non of them seem centered around using finger/thumb control and Over the Air. Programs from Resco, Total Commander, Orb etc....
It would be nice to have a Finger Friendly Application that will access a network like Orb, without having to do so manually through the pocketie, and display corresponding files to the Orb networked Host PC. Basically a stand alone file explorer that is finger friendly to access folders on a host machine OTA. I would not see a need for it to stay connected all the time and keep eating up data. Just more like an initialization that grabs the available folders. Then connect as you search further or download to save on the data. Something not so heavy or clunky. Infact, if Orb would create a PocketPC UI for their program that was thumb friendly that would be great!!! Hint...Tene, A_C etc....LOL!!
I noticed that WinAmp of all programs used Orb to access host files. So, maybe something like that general file access.

-Suggestions So Far - Use Google For More Info
Resco - in conjunction with an FTP setup
Total Commander - in conjunction with an FTP setup
Orb
Soonr.com
RDM+ - http://www.rdmplus.com/rdm/page.jsp?p=index - thx trjons
Mocha's FTP Server - See Post 11 by Ather90
One may work for you but I am still looking for the "perfect" app.
Thanks,

SoonR (soonr.com) allows you to do that, not finger friendly though, but, it is a freeware.

Checked it out. Didn't see a downloadable PPC UI to access the network. It didn't seem all that much different then using Orb as it is now. Orb is as it is, is a little friendlier.
Looking for a PPC UI.
I use RDM+ for that.
It opens up a desktop view but you can quickly go into the menu and pull up a file manager which allows for quick upload and download of files.

Ok, answered my on question. RDM=Remote Desktop tool of some kind. Again, this is an option. But I would like to keep these options down to a simple interface as possible.

If there is a UI that uses the Orb network out there that is probably the best.
Thanks,
Curious G

It is a desktop PC application that you install and select folders that you want to access remotely, and then using an internet browser (desktop or pocket) you can access these folders from anywhere.

I understand how Orb works. I use it as it is. But in order to access it from the PPC you have to use PocketIE. Looking for a PocketPC UI not a desktop UI..
Thanks,
Curious G
You could just set up an FTP server on your desktop and then use Resco Explorer or Total Commander to access it.
give Mocha's FTP server a shot..Its a Phone Based App which makes you phone an FTP server and you can acess it Globally

I think he'd like to use his wifi
maybe he wanna use wireless
Resco works great over wifi, but it can be a little slow on first-connect.
its very easy to browse network files using total commander which is freeware.
open it go to \\plugins (or type \\\ in the addressbar) then select LAN and follow through the options pretty straight forward
you can also enable the network folder through any file browser, but i can never remember the correct reg entry for it as i tend to enable it using sktools
try the htc network cab works great
Resco works geat cheers guys!
just the normal explorer, type plugins and then lan followed by the name of your pc. no problem so far with this since 2 ppcs.
Hi People
I'm searching for a great remote desktop mobile for my new HD2 and have problems to find something good.
I'd love to install LogMeIn, but i suppose is impossible at this moment,
This Night i found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFiDZ_wBAtM&NR=1&feature=fvwp
I suppose is from RDM plus, i install a demo version 3.7.6 and it is very different compared to the Remote desktop mobile from youtube Video.
Where can i find the remote desktop mobile from youtube video?
Need your help, please
Thanks
That's the remote desktop client that comes with Windows mobile 6.5. It's in your start menu, in the tools folder
boss the remote desk top shown in you tube vedio is same as in hd2 .........
its not different ........
Logmein - Ignition works just fine.
or as the others just said - just use the one that came with your HD2.
just wondering whether anyone could help us to set it up step by step...
also just wondering do you have to have a router or it can also work on wireless USB broadband (thats what i have)
I used the theme in our forum for this, but I didnt succeeded with it, because Im using PPPoE internet and when I set everything, their appears conflict and the internet drops...
I found the app already, but what I'm looking for is how I can setup the use of a remote desktop gatewayserver?
The server I address is an IP-address, but in the Windows 7 setting, I need to specify this gatewayserver.
I'm no admin, so I can't install something @ server side.
Thanks for your help!
Koen
PS I was even trying to run only Remote App, instead of Remote Desktop...

First off - well done on getting it working
Secondly, install BsB Tweaks (if you haven't already) as that will let you fix both zooming and auto-rotating in it.
In BsB you can say you want to add an app for either zooming or rotating (you do them seperately, but it's the same process). You'll have to shake the device to let BsB know which app to make changes for. Just make sure you do it on a connected session (in remote desktop), NOT the login screen. They're 2 different things.
