No Sound in my XDA O2 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi All,
This is my first post in the forum. I have been facing a strange problem from last two days. No sound is coming from the device except the Ring tone sound when a call comes. (Just like when we have ear plugs inserted )
This problem started when i noticed my charger was on whole night and in the morning it was not charging and became dead. I noticed a small melting in plastic of the connector. Might be some short circuit. Another thing is i get sound when I put on the device to charging and after removing supply after some time soung again goes off.
I know this problem is somewhat strange, but if somone could help I would really be thankful.
Thanks & Regards,
Rajat

I have the same prolem with it.

Hi nctrung_vn,
I sent my O2 for service and it is working fine now.

JASJAR SOUND PROBLEM

Hi,
Am using a Jasjar. One fine morning the phone stopped ringing. No sound from the speakers at all. Though I could hear the other side on recieving or making calls. My voice does not go.
I sent it for repairs to I mate service center in Dubai (am in mumbai), Got back the machine working today. After making 5-6 calls ,the same problem has started again.
Please advice.
thanks ,
AT.
sounds like they didnt fix it, my 5.1 amp has just done similar, well not similar, but similar issue lol, grrrr
amp stopped doing video, sent to yamaha for repairs, got it back !!!AFTER 2 MONTHS WAITING!!! 2 weeks later its doing it again.
Back to Dubai it goes then! This time, try to shout enough so that they actually fix it.
A quick suggestion: (just in case)
In some cases people have had problems with sound loss from their Universals caused by the headphone jack. The sensor that identifies whether a headphone is plugged in is faulty and cuts out the speaker sound.
You could try putting a headphone jack into the socket and wiggling it, or plugging it in and out a few times. That might fix it.
I've had the same problem too a couple of times. I found that it was something weird with the battery actually. It always seemed to happen when I switched batteries. Everything would work fine except the audio. I could make a call but the other side couldn't hear me. When I would "click" on anything like Start all I would hear is a small popping sound. I found that if I took the battery back out, and then put it back in and made sure it was securely set in place & locked it the sound would work again. Sometimes I would have to do that twice before it would work again. I'm not sure if it really is a battery thing or something else that gets jiggled when I put a new battery in/out but that's what's worked for me. Hope that helps.

earphone problem

ok this is a bit funny
handsfree earphone works,,,but the ear phone in the mda compact doesnt work
the normal sound speaker works,,just not the phone speaker
ok it works stuttery when i press up on the slide switch and i can hear the caller kinda stuttering
wierd software rpoblem i think
its not hardware problem as the slider makes it work,,if i constantly press up o the slider but then i hear the caller and the beep beep it makes to tell you its at full volume
My qtek s110 is doing the same thing after i dropped it, could i have knocked the contacts?
Can anyone explain why the volume slider would make it work.
Cheers
I think its a hardware prob only! Cz if the volume slider is getting the sound volume increased, you guys still couldnt get the full volume right? If so, its probably the speaker or its contacts getting the problem!

solution for no noise problems
Hey guys and girls, I also had problems with “no noise from the earpiece only.. and were puzzled with the problem for few days….until found the reason behind it.
As I am a lover with high-tech devices, I really wanted to fix this problem by myself (not prepared to pay few hundred dollars for repair from technicians).
I also want to contribute something on this site, as I have read great information’s from this site.
Here it goes.
I had this "no noise issue" problem with one of my device (have 2 sets of o2 mini) had no sound on the earpiece only (meaning speakerphone, hands free mic all works perfectly).
Now, to make everything short, I have done a great research with few personal technicians and even official technician from O2 Company and found the answers for this problem.
The fault actually lies with what is called the "Audio Daughter Board". It is a removable internal PCB that the speaker contacts to receive its audio signal from the phone. The board has a connector that is soldered to it which sits on another connector that is soldered to the main board. Both of these connectors can become removed from their respective solder connections usually as a result of a fall or physical impact. Usually all that is needed is a touch up of the solder points.
This Audio “daughter board” is connected with black connector at right hand side only, and the rest of the board with double sticky tape.
Most likely, the black connector has been disconnected to the “daughter board during drop of the device, as you need to solder the parts back (black connector has 14 legs, 7 on the left and 7 on the right) to get your earpiece sound back to normal.
I have done it, so can you (very small legs, so has to have delicate hands).
Now, mine works like a charm…. So happy…
After all, it was neither the programs, nor the legs of the earpiece, but the actual connection between the boards itself.
Hope my information helped.
Cheers
PS: I have updated my device to 2003 second edition with radio 1.13.00 but have no idea where to get pda programs. Can anyone let me know where to find such good programs?
It works!!!! Thanks
Your a genius
Hi im so happy it worked. I bought even a new speaker but this was noit the problem.
The internal speaker is now working but i found another problem with the ring tone liudness which i have to clarify now. So the serach will start again for me.
Again thanks.
Hi need help from all of u.

You really rock m8.
I was very doubfull that this would work. I have tried everything else people has suggested to no avail.
BUT I thought I have nothing to lose in trying you suggestion.
And it worked. It really worked.
Thank you very much.
Sorry for what am i going to say, maybe i did not get things clear...
How on earth can you solder the black connector both on the main motherboard and on the audio daughter board? Am just asking cause my magician had a broken earpiece and when i open it to replace it the phone died. Strange thing is that when i remove the storage card it comes alive again but no sound from the earpiece. So this solution is great although i had to make the question just to know how to handle things.
Thanks guys
Got it guys, the one connector on the main board was detached completeley and got stuck into the other. That is why i thought that it was one piece.
Man , i said to myself how come these people got it soldered , they must all have personal nano robots lol
Update:
Burned the small black connector tha sits on the main rboard
Any chance for someone to know what sort of PCB is this so i can purchase one?
Firts of anything sorry for my inglish but i´m portuguese and my inglish is a litle rusty.
I known there are a lot of people whith this problem and i had to. I tried a lot of things and i find a solution. The major problem of the this is that the black conector don´t conect very well whith audio bord, and i do a trick, so i thake a litle peace of cotton roll in powertape (like one that is on back of keybord) and a put it as way that when e close it make pressure in de audio border conector(in left of earpiece) agaist de front cover.
I hope I can help

Sound problem

There is no sound. I plugged in the head phones and i can hear out of that, but when i unplug it, i get no sound. It's like its still plugged in. Can anyone help me, or has anyone else experienced this?
sorry i have an o2 xda neo
Might be another instance of a known design issue with Prophet. Many people have hit this problem - mine did this and needed to be returned for repair.
Try putting the headphone jack in again and then out. Repeat like this for a while and your sound will come back on. If it doesn't, repeat faster.
This is a known issue where the sound disappears. Basically, a switch needs to be flipped for the prophet to know that the headset is out. Sometimes, this switch doesn't get flipped and the prophet thinks the headset is still connected, while actually its not.
If my solution sounds a bit crazy, it is...but its the only way and you don't need to send it in for repair. Search around and you'll find the same solution everywhere. People have also used a safety pin. But best is the headset jack itself.
How long mate? 2 hours? 3? I wish it had worked that way. I tried everything... still no sound. I think it is a crappy hardware. I think HTC should collect all prophets... I mean if it were a decent company.
Its just a little lower quality hardware, I agree.
If that doesn't work, try soft resetting. If that doesn't work, try hard resetting.
Its better to try all options before sending it in to the service centre, where it'll get screwed around and probably be kept for 2 weeks or something, due to "unavailability of parts"..
It is not working, removing and inserting again n again, some other method, i will have to try to open it, as it is not under waranty and it is also without bill, plz suggest me something
This seems to be a major problem with the HTC Prophet as a whole regardless of the branding. I have returned mine to Orange for a replacement, they confirmed that it was hardware failure. I thought that I might have just got unlucky with a bad batch, but looking across the NET and here, it appears that all brands based on the HTC Prophet are failing.
Obviously, shoddy manufacturing, I guess HTC did a little penny pinching with the speaker system.
I have same issue with my dopod 818 pro the plug and unplug trick did not work for me I have to send my to http://www.PocketPCTechs.com they have the device repaired for me now my device is back to business now..
I have the same problem here but i bit different... i was using an external speaker system, when i unplugged the jack from my spv m600 i did't get any sound the only sound i have is when i receive a call then i hear the ringtone but when i pick up i don't hear anything and probably the other side doesn't hear me...i tried to put the jack in and out but no results now i am obliged to use my phone with the headset...
same problem...solved!!
hi, today i had the same problem...no sound at all after i unplugged an external sound system. I plugged again the 2.5mm and unplugged it very fast a few times untill i got my sound back!!!
good luck
pixie
My m600 has been back to Orange for repairs for this problem. Works again perfect now.

Loudspeaker no longer working

I've got a bit of a problem with my hermes. For quite a long while now the speakers have just not been working. The speaker for the phone works but the ringer and loudspeaker don't work. Initially after a soft reset it would work for about half an hour again and then stop working.
I don't think it's software related as I have flashed my phone a couple of times since it started.
If anyone could help me out with this at all I would be incredibly grateful as it is intensely annoying not being able to hear calls coming in.
Thanks,
Stuart
I had a similar problems with the speaker. It was because there is a cable from the speak to the mainboard that can become disconnected. I dropped my phone and the connector became lose. If you take you keyboard part of the phone apart you will see the small cable running from the speak to a port on the board, just reconnect it and it should work.
Tim is right. Do a search and it will lead you to a thread with pics so you can see how to fix it. It's a simple repair. I've had to do it twice on mine in a year.
Thanks a lot guys.
I'll try and find that.

Speaker problem

Sorry if is not the case for a new thread!
Lasta evening my xperia was working just fine.I let it charging till the moorning. In the moorning when i woke up is not working the speaker.Usually does this after using headphones, but recover with a restart.
This time no.
Is there any chance do find out what happend without taking it to sony ericsson service?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Does it still show the head phone in use symbol? I read on here that some had problems with the headphone jack itself and it hd to be replaced by SE.
it is no icon for the headphones on the display.
i did not use the headphones and after that the speaker stoped working.it stoped working during charging with nobody using the phone.
thanks
try connecting and taking out the earphone connector to your X1.
i did that and nothing.
Thanks for the advice.
I'll take it to service center on monday and i hope the problem to be solved quickly.
in the mean time i am like that is still vibrating
