answer/ignore -> where's my mute? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

hi all,
if my mda rings, i want to be able to like 'mute' it. i can do this by 'pulling down' the volume slide button (second left from top) while a phone call comes in, but the software keeps showing that the phone is ringing.
is there a way (or software) which allows me to choose to 'mute' the call, while not interfering with my software?: like saying:
"ok i understand someones calling me, don't REJECT that someone, but let the phone ring (for that someone), while at the same time not informing me (anymore) that im being called!"

Use the Volume button to turn off the sound when you receive a call. ( Move it up or down)

Yeah I agree... I'd like to see an IGNORE - or SILENT button like the nokia OS has.
I hate having to pull the phone out of my pocked - look at the caller and think "nah, don't wanna talk to them", and not have a button to click on...
Saying all that, after a month you get used to hitting the volume on the side... one tap and the phone stops ringing...
As far as I know - thats it...

there is a program i used to use with my nokia 6630 which ignores selected ppl's calls, its called blackballer. there are also a couple other programs out there that do the same thing, but dont know of any for PPC, will keep my eyes out though.

hi.
i know of such a program for the ppc pe, it's called:
"Call SMS Blocker Lite v0.5.5"
http://www.aditusnet.it/crino/crisoft/prodotto.asp?id=11
The thing is, here you preset what is blocked or not, and it works OK, but:
It still does not allow you to silently surpress an incoming call AD HOC and carry on with whatever you are doing on your ppc pe

Wired Headset Button

Hi Guys,
Just got my S110, which I love. Still trying to learn how different the phone functions are, compared to my C500, one thing I have noticed, and which I feel is a real pain is to do with the suppled headset and its intergration with mobile 2003.
It seems to be fine at answering calls - a quick tap, and that is it, but when it comes to ending a call, i have to hold the button for 3 seconds, and there is also no beep to notify that the call has ended. This is a bit annoying if you end the call with the handset in your pocket. There is nothing to let you know it has ended, apart from looking at the handset.
Does anyone know of a hack to shorten the length the button needs to be pressed to end a call.
Also is there any chance of voice tagging, like a normal phone. I have tried Voice commander, which I think is hit and miss.
Many Thanks
NickB23

what does the button on you're headset do ???

I put my exec into corporate mode before I started using it for phone calls !!! and now my button does nothing (im not sure if it ever did) I would imagine it is send, end and redial last number !!! is it supposed to work in corp mode, is their anyway to activate it ??
C'mon guys some of you must have pressed the button before !!!
The button on my Bluespoon AX tells my MDA to start the voice dialling app.
Snag is, when it's in my bag, if it gets accidentally pressed, it recognises from nowhere my only voice tag and dials it.
Of course, I don't know this until I get a text later from the contact saying 'Your phone called me again.'
Most annoying so tag removed to stop it.
Bloody thing. But I love my MDA and wouldn't swap it for anything else on the market right now.
I mean the button on the incorparated wired handset !!!! not bluetooth
Press to answer a call, and press to end if I remember right.
I thought as much, mine puts my call on hold if I am already in the middle of a call, and that's all it does it's quite frustrating. I'm getting a new XDA soon anyway (my Mic has packed in) there were a couple of funny issue's with this one, when I first booted it the keyboard lights didn't work, I had to hard reset it to get any joy.
Although using a Magician instead of a Universal I tried my wired headset today myself... does nothing during a call I started. Won't spend money on trying it the other way around now... disappointing.
I hope it fires an event which is not handled yet - so it can be picked up by an application to start Voice Command for instance.

Redirect a incomming call to the mailbox?

Hi,
Can someone tell me how a can redirect a incomming call to the mailbox when I don't want to answer that call?
I only can decline the call and then the caller gets a busy tone and know that a pushed the call away....
Settings>Phone>Call Forwarding>Get Settings...
Make sure "No Answer" is ticked and diverts to your mailbox number.

Thanx for your help, but that one I know...
What I want is to stop the phone ringing and push it to the voicemailbox!
Now I have to wait 30 sec before the call is redirect to the mailbox...
In conjunction to "elyl's" suggestion, if you don't want to hear the phone ring, then turn the volume off. Otherwise you need a 3rd party software like Phone Alarm.

but sometimes you just don't wanna talk to a person that is calling you... and I don't mean because I'm busy or something just push it away to the voicemail.
I use Phonealarm but it didn't give me the option when the phone rings (with a certain person I don't wana talk to) push it to voicemail!
So now I leave it ringing and then it goes to the mailbox at last.
I've just tried it on my Magician. If you press the red/end button right after it ring then the call is redirected to the voice mail.
hmmm, when I push the red button it gives a busy tone to the caller...
Thanx for trying
do you have the other call divert (when busy, when out of range, etc.) functions active?
Must be an operator-dependent thing then, cos when I reject a call it gets sent to the mailbox. Dial into your mailbox and see if you can change the settings.

Yes when I don't pick up or when the phone is off it go's to the mailbox.
this is for you......good luck trying to get it to work....i didn't have much time (spend about 1hr trying to get it to work)
http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/csb/csb.aspx
Finaly it is working!!
I just re enterd the voicemailbox number and send it again to the telecom provider.... :?
Thanx again for your help and testing...
great to know that you have it finally working
One day I learned (by accident), that if you use the hardware volume button while the phone rings, it will mute the ring tone. That way, you can let it "ring" in silence for the duration of the 30 seconds before it forwards to your voice mail.
I use the vol down in these situations, but I think it also mutes on vol up.

shutting off the ring

greetings everyone, I am quite new to the Herald. So please execuse me for asking stupid questions. When a call comes in, is there a button or shortcut option to use to shut off the ring without using the ring control slide/button on the side? I used to have a different pda which offered three choices when a call came; answer - ignore - shut off the ring... anyone, anyone? thanks...

there is still teh ignore button. not enough?
As papamopps says, you still got the red ignore button Then you can answer with the green, ignore with the red and just mute the ringtone with the slidebutton on the side
the ring
thanks friends, i thought the "ignore" option would send a busy signal to the user, thats how it was on my previous mobile. So I was kinda scared off by using that option. Sometimes, pretending that you didn't hear the call is better than sending a busy tone )) easier to deny the ignorance later on )
the ring
i meant to say "sends a busy signal to the caller" not "to the user". sorry...

by pressing the "commanager" button for more than 3sec it will go into vibrate modus. then the ringer is shut off. and it is only vibrating. it is faster then the volume slider
the ring
poppamops thanx for the help... since you are good at answering, here is another one... can you suggest a nice GPS map for Turkey?

Just to be certain: If you push the red/ignore button the person who calls you will notice that you did so. If you slide the button on the side downward the person just think you were unable to answer (it just keep ringing)

As elsatani said all you have to do is slide down the volume slider on the side of the phone... am I missing something here. The only phone I knew where you couldn't turn off the ringer was the Excalibur when it first came out. Due to the touch slider you couldn't silent the ringer. main thing that pissed me off when that phone was initially released.

Audio Caller Id

I'm looking for a program that will say who is calling and be able to hear it on my jawbone2. Main reason is I usually have my phone in my holster or on my desk. So I can't always see who is calling. It would be very helpful if I could hear who is calling with out having to run to my phone to see who it is.
MSVC - Microsoft Voice Command
I don;t think MSVC is very effective. It does say the number but you can't follow it. It's like doing its job for no purpose.. By the time you figure out what it says, you may miss the call or reach out for the display.
Regards,
Carty..
This is an idea, though not very good, but an idea nonetheless.
maybe you can use one of those Text to speech apps to record all the names of your contacts. Then save them to your phone and assign them each the proper one.
so the ringtone would be "John calling..." or whatever you want.
yeah?

Just record yourself saying their name and set it as their ringtone.
Setting as a ringtone won't work because if I'm at work my phone is on vibrate. Plus sometimes I'm in the other room so I can't hear my phone ring.

I think you should try MSVC. It talks fast, but it does say the caller name. I find that since the phone will vibrate/ring for about a second before MSVC starts talking I'm usually ready to listen to what it's saying. I use it when driving and it's invaluable.
I don't know how the wing is setup, but on my phone (sprint touch) I hear all ringers through the bluetooth headset when it's connected - it does not come out the speakers. If there is a way to arrange that you could make the ringtone idea work too.
I think MSVC takes some getting used to, but once you're used it you can understand it. Of course, it is much easier to understand it if its announcing a name (as it does if the callers is one of your contacts) than if it is just saying the phone number.
