XDA II, XDA IIs - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

To All,
How do I remove the calibration screen from the XDA II/s handheld, so that when the handheld reboots the calibration screen is bypassed.
Thanks

recall somebody asking this before recall the answer being you cant
and if you could then you would not be able to use the touchscreen because it would not work without being calibrated
and it's not after a reboot (softreset) it's after a hardreset

I have found a way to bypass the calibration screen on a hard reset on an XDA. you have to have a storage card and on the root of the card create a "Welcome.NOT" file and when you do a hard reset the calibration and dentist's appointment screen is bypassed.

XDA II Screen malfunction

I tried using the XDA II today and the screen touch pad does not respond at all. The up down rocker wouldcycle through the today items and the hardware buttons worked. I tried a soft and then hard reset. Now I can not get past the set up screen where it says taps the screen to set up your device.
Any ideas?
There are two problems that i can think now.
Firstly, it due to screen protector. If you change a new one, try remove it.
Because screen protector is not suitable or incorrect place.
Secondly, it due to some program that you've been installed.
In my case ,I found problem with Calligrapher7.4. After I install,my screen is totally locked but Hardware button still work.
The way to resolve is by uninstall program via activesync. Just put your device to cradle wait until sync is completed ,then click add/remove program and remove your suspected software that cause your problem.
Hope you can solve this problem.

Not to state obvious but have you tried to recalibrate it? Or perform a hard reset?
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, I did a recalibration and this is very strange, first when I finish the calibration, then it restart from the beginning and I have to recalibrate 3 or 4 times before it exit the calibration tool. Then the device works normally, but few minutes later, this is the same, recalibration is lost. I did a hard reset and even change the ROM, but it is the same.
I do not know what to do
I see also after a reboot, the calibration is good again, but this is not always the case.
What can I do ?
Thanks
Denis

Sounds like a faulty device. Flash back to stock rom
& SPL if you haven't already and return under warranty.
Hi,
thanks for the answer.
I flashed back to the original ROM and I think this has also set the original SPL, but I am not sure. How can I check this ?
When starting up the device I can see :
R 1.13.25.24
G 52.62.25.34U
D 1.56 .00 .00
Is it correct ?
Thanks

Go into bootloader to check SPL, i.e.
Turn off phone
Hold vol down
Turn on phone while continuing to hold vol down
You should enter a tri-colour screen. This is bootloader and it should state your SPL
ok, you're right, the SPL was wrong, I set it back to 1.13.
I resintalled the ROM and now I fell down on a loop in the alignement screen
I will send the device to repair...
thanks

When you do a calibration, how accurately you tap the cross-hair dictates if the digitizer senses a second or third calibration is necessary. Most people tend to blow this off and use either a finger or fingernail to do the calibration. The digitizer gets the most accurate tap when a stylus is used. You might want to try using a stylus OR you can try the following modified registry hack which comes from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4998396&postcount=1
REGISTRY HACK TO ELIMINATE EFFECTS OF FIRST CALIBRATION
Using your favorite Registry program, navigate to HKLM:
1. HKLM\Hardware\DeviceMap\Keybd
2. Look for the entry named: FirstCalibration
3. If it's there, you can do one of two things: first, delete it; or second, change the dword value from 1 to 0.
4. If entry does not exist, you can create the dword FirstCalibration and give it a binary value of zero
5. Do a soft reset. It is recommended that a manual soft reset using your stylus is used as opposed to a softreset program. I have tested this hack on my device. As per the original post, some soft reset programs would not allow the Registry hack to take.
It is implied (or maybe I read it in a subsequent reply to this post/thread) that most digitizers are accurate enough without a calibration. Should you find that your screen when tapped is not accurate, you can always do a screen calibration later.
Historical Info
When PDAs first came out, digitizers were not as accurate as today's versions which mandated calibrations. Often on my first iPaq, which I bought when Compaq first built them, two or more calibrations were necessary because the digitizers were of poor quality. Part of the initial first set-up screen was a mandatory calibrate screen.
A Compaq engineer I chatted with stressed getting the first two if not all four taps as accurately as possible. He claimed that if all four were done in the center of the cross-hair's dot, a second calibration would not be necessary. What ticked me off is that the second calibration tap is often obscured or hidden by the onscreen words of the calibration statement.
Current Info from three smartphones
With today's digitizers, I have never had to calibrate my Dell x51V Axim. In fact on three smartphones I have either purchased or helped with the purchase thereof, I have never seen a calibrate screen when the phone is initialized out of the box new. The only time I have a calibration screen is when a Mass Clear is performed or the ROM is restored off the SD card.
Based upon usage, I believe that today's digitizers accurate out of the box and that the problem may be caused by either flashed ROMs or apps that are causing interference.
Try the hack and see if that works. Good luck and we're all counting on you!
Hi,
Unfortunately, i think the problem is hardware. I always use the stylus for calibration. Now I can't go out of the calibration window...
And this is not a ROM issue as I flash the original one from HTC, and during the fist boot, it ask for the calibration and I can't go further (loop in this tool).
I will send my device to repair... it is on warranty.
Thanks for the info

I think in the thread I quoted there is a way to break out of the calibration screen which makes it skipped. Since it will take you a day or two to get the device ready to be shipped or repaired, you could read that thread as the Registry hack could be the trick. . .
thanks man ill try this and anwer back in hours
Wow i've made teh replacement in reg, it is worst, and after nother hard reset it kept the same values in reg, how can i o a complete flash, with all settings back to defaults ?
I had exactly same problem and I sent my device to repair ... they changed touchscreen and now it's ok
Have u tried re-calibrating it? if you cant go to the menu because of the loss of calibration just hold Up + Down of the volume keys and then tap the screen. (this is do be done while phone is already on)

Yeah - you calibrate it with your fingers. What's not to understand? Hold the phone as if you are about to type on the on-screen keyboard, and calibrate it using your thumbs, so it's as natural as possible.
ok with calibration procedure .
but this calibration screen never goes away ......
have to soft reset device ......

For some reason it does seem to fail sometimes. Just do it again. I've had to do it a few times before now, but it does work when you get "it" right (whatever "it" is!)
Dont press the screen too much, touch it as lightly as possible...
Thanks !
at last screen calibration worked .................
delete this post plz... already solved! sry

I got problems with the touch screen also, when i press something on the screen it highlights above or below my selection, writing SMS was nightmare. So i went to htc service and they replace the "touch digitizer" and now my problems are history, everything works like charm.I think you should try that.

[Q] Need Calibration Data For HTC Jade 100 (T3232)

Hi,
i have HTC Jade 10 (t3232) with me from last three weeks i am having some touch screen (Calibration) issues, like it is not pointing out exactly when i try to calibrate
so i did hard reset, after that on first startup , it was going on and on looping on screen alignment screen, somehow i manage to skip or bypass that screen by using Remote Alignment Screen tool
i also tried and install new ROM by doing HardSPL and now screen alignment works fine on first boot
but after using my phone 5 to 10 minutes my cell phone calibration got out or changes its coordinates in registry, than i search for the calibration data of HTC JADE 100 and manually enter it in phone's registry
( Can anyone post the exact and correct values or data of Calibration for HTC JADE 100 (t3232), may be it will work. )
after inserting calibration values that i took from forum in the registry, it works fine on middle portion of phone except top and bottom portion, and this thing is going on and on
after that i research on XDA forums about this issue and came to know that i might have an issue with my screen digitizer, if i change my screen digitizer it might work again
but i am not sure whether it is a digitizer issue, touch screen issue or any software issue or what, i am very upset from last 3 weeks , any one can tell me after reading the above mentioned problems that what happened to my phone and what should i do,
your help is appreciated.
Thanks.
I have the same problem, I need the touch calibration data to insert the cell regedit
Any body please???? I have the same problem aloso

OOOOOH Yeaaaaah, I found the HTC Touch 3G (Jade) CalibrationData = "520,387 201,800 208,141 832,146 826,788"
