Creating your own Bluetooth dialup connection like a PAN - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

just found something interesting. If you lookin the registery under hklm\extmodems\hayesCompat you can find the comport number set to 1.
I changed this to 4 ( > softreset) and made a dialup connection on my s100 to "hayes compatible on com1". On my pc i manualy connected the bluetooth serial port (to com4 on s100) and opened hyperterm on com6 (on xp).
so you get a connection like this
Hyperterm
|
XP Com6
|
Bluetooth
Bluetooth
|
s100 Com4
|
Hayes compatible modem dialup
hyperterm nicely displayes the modem handshake.
Now... could it be possible to use some sort of virtual modem driver to localy dialup to your own pc, thus creating your own PAN connection using the normal MS bt stack?
lemme know
Marco

Rules!!!
This seems to be an interesting possibility! Please all you skillful programmers out there help us to get around the drawbacks of the *@# MS Stack!

About BTTools

Hello. My question is very simple.
What is BTTools, what is usefull, and where can I download it? :?:
Solve it Bluetooth problems?
Thanks in advance
Yes it solves some problems, but you get new ones for free :?
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
OK, I have downloaded and installed BTTools on my XDA-II device but I have a problem with a BlueTooth device.
The device is a portable bar-code scanner of the trademark Baracoda.
The model is BL1000: http://www.baracoda.com/baracoda/products/p_2.html
I have installed BTTools cause this device works with bateries and have power save: past one minute it disconnect the BlueTooth connection with PDA and once started again not comunicate the bar-codes with PDA but is present.
The problem is that not works with BTTools. When I discover new devices through BlueTooth it discover the device but the selector screen of COM only I have as selection COM7.
I have tried before install BTTools and the device only works using the default COM5 port of Outbound COM port (BlueTooth Configuration). I think to work with BL1000 and BTTools I need that this port it be COM7 or instead that BTTools allow me select COM5 as COM port for comunication. Is it possible?
This device has an auxiliar program for translate the information of the BL1000 to PDA. http://www.baracoda.com/baracoda/products/p_9.html called Kemul.
Inside it you can configure a virtual port of Master device and Slave device but not work. If I use BTTools I select:
Slave: COM8
Master: COM7 (the COM assigned by BTTools)
This configuration not work
If I uninstall BTTools the device works and comunicate with XDA-II but the net time that the device switch off automatically not works.
I donĀ“t understand what is happened or how I have to configure to work with BTTools.
Thanks in advance

Bluetooth Network Access, Please, Please, please Help....!!!

Hi there,
I have an Qtek 2020 and I've installed WM2005.
ROM version 1.60a.00WWE
Radio Version: 1.14.00
Protocol version: 1337.24
I want to use newtwork access service but I cant.
when I want to setup this service in My Bluetooth places. it sais no Device found. and when I find manually it sais that your device has not network access profile.
I tried to install WIDCOMM BTW-CE but it didnt installed. it sais that no bluetooth radio found!!
I really need network access. Please help me!!!!!
if you can sync with activesync using bluetooth then you can connect
not sure if 2005 BT stack support the bluetooth PAN profile
and not sure if there are any widcomm out for 2005 yet
I had this problem also before I install WM2005 with the same error.
I thaught maybe I should upgrade my radio versio !!!!
the radiostack is only related to GSM not bluetooth
these are guides as to how you activesync with bluetooth
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=3163
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
Most of the time.. its more acurate when you connect from PC to PPC not PPC to PC.
I think my English is very bad
I can connect to ActiveSync without any problems.
My problem is to use Network Access service.
I have no problem with other services sych as Audio Gateway, Headset, Ativesync, Serial port and...
when you are connected with activesync then you have network access!
if you minimize activesync while it's connected then you can just open IE or messenger or what ever
that is unless you disabled it in activesycn on the pc or the firewall on the pc block it
or if you have set it to use your isp network insted of your my network in connections on the pocketpc
No... you didn't understand me.
I want have an IP address for my pocket PC as you connect with WiFi.
And explore the shared folder of the network PCs with Resco File Explorer.
Wee this picture.
When I connect with USB my pocket PC get and IP address and I can ping it.
I want to do this also when I connect via bluetooth.[/img]
oh dident know that activesync using bluetooth did not assign an ip to the xda2
well then there are 2 options i guess
1 find a widcomm or another bluetooth stack that works on 2005 which support the PAN profile (pan is network over bluetooth as in not using activesync)
2 downgrade to 2003SE or 2003 and get the widcomm stack which works for it and support PAN
I've installed the WIDCOMM. but the previouse BLutoth stack did't remove. and now I have too icons of bluetooth!!!
but widcomm did't work properly and it sais that: "The Bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due ro insuffivent driver menory available. [!!!] you must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio.

Try to use PocketLanCe: www.pocketlance.com
I have the same problem... htc p4350, wm5 aku3/3.5 the wm device doesn't see the Network Access bluetooth service which the PC is running. (pocket pc doesn't seem to support Bluetooth PAN correctly). This is crap. In the year 2007, simple things like bluetooth pan shouldn't go unimplemented in an operating system built by the richest software company in the world. on a device i paid $500 for. i could implement this stuff myself in less than a week if the code weren't closed source. gosh i hate hate HATE our world.
also the pocketlance website is password protected..

I tried every setting in TOM-TOM and nothing changed. Please help me.
TOMTOM AND GPS
The XDA II comes only with support for BT headsets and ActiveSync through BT. The serial port emulation is also a feature of the Microsoft BT stack but you need a device driver a register port and to handle it

Blusoleil Bluetooth Syncronization Problem

Hi, All. For a couple of days now I am trying to synchronize my O2 Neo with my PC per bluetooth. I am using a cheap bluetooth dongle, which comes with BlueSoleil software. When the devices find each other, the Prothet only recognizes a Serial Port connection. Than I assign outgoing port on the Prophet (I think COM6), I include COM 6 in the ActiveSync (4.2 by the way) settings and map COM6 to my prophet in the Bluesoleil settings. When I refresh the services on my Prophet I can again only see the Serial port connection. Can someone give a hint?

Setting up BT services on different ports

I have two services on my windows computer that I would like to use simultaneously. One is my bluetooth-connected GPS and one is a handsfree profle (using phoco) from my Cingular 8525 (factory rom).
Unfortunately both of these devices set up on COM9 and give me no options for anything else. To connect to one, I must disconnect from the other.
I have tried adding available ports on my 8525 both through the bluetooth preferences (new outgoing port...) and by the registry hack described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261844
in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Serial\Ports\SupportedPorts I added every port I could think of but see no difference in the behavior of the phone. Ihave unpaired and re-paired the device and always only get the single option for the COM port to use.
Do you guys have any ideas how I could get another port to work with my 8525? Currently COM8 is set for activesync and COM9 for serial connection, but I cannot change either of these.
I am running the default BT stack on the 8525 and would like to avoid the Widcomm stack if possible. I am running the widcomm stack on the windows PC.
Thanks.
