I have an application that makes a GSM / V.100 data call to my host system (C# using TAPI). This works well enough on the XDA II and III. It also installs and runs correctly on the XDA II compact, but the Magician is not able to connect to my host. I have checked all the obvious configurations but am stumped! Has any body else seen this - any ideas what it could be?

I have gotten a XDAII and have it setup and working, however the gprs only connects when needed and won't stay permantley on. Has anyone else found this to be true, or is there a way to make it stay connected?
you have an o2 XDA II or an Imate or a MDA II?

I dont have any other known answer to that to fix it but there's a program on PocketGear.com called GPRS Keep Alive. $2.45 to buy it and there's a trial too so give it a try.
Her's the link incase you want it:

But if you guys have alternate fix let us know, pls.
Here's a solution I've done to my XDA II with T-Mobile GPRS problem. I don't know who came up with this solution, but thanks to my friend who suggested this at PDAMobiz.com.
1. After a hardreset and completing the initial screen alignment, interrupt the auto-installation process by softreset your XDA II (you have 3 seconds before the files in Extended_ROM will automatically install).
2. Make your Extended_ROM viewable, whether by using the Extended ROM Viewer from http://www.ppcw.net or Extended ROM Switcher (sorry I forgot the link).
3. Now, install each cab files, except TMD_AP_NL.sa.CAB. In fact, I also disregarded, Caller ID, and some other TMD stuff.
As a result, the GPRS is now always-on as it should be.
Cheers,

Hi, i am looking at buying an o2 XDA MINI S and using it with my pay as you go simcard, it is a relativly new simcard (6months old) And i am just wondering if all of the features wil still work with it ?
THanks for any replys,
Cosstick
EDIT: I Also want to use the xda mini s with memorymap or tomtom/garmin gps, is this possible with a Payasyougo simcard ?
It has all the features that a contract XDA Mini S would have, but you need different settings for GPRS/MMS
and GPS will work aslong as you get a reciever for it.
What are these ? could you provide a link to one that would be suitable ?
And what do they do ?
thanks
i have
http://www.techfocus.co.uk/pages/pr...clid=CODPus_7zI4CFQESEgodv0pvAA&cookie_test=1
that one and it works fine..
it is what gets the signals from the satelittes and transmits it to your gps software on the pda.
i use it with TomTom and works good
So if i have understood correctly, this connects to the xda via bluetooth, and allows the phone to recieve the gps signals ?
thats not a bad price either,
does it sync with the software alright ? or is there alot of setting up to do ?
youve understood correctly
well i understand that if you want to use other bluetooth devices like headsets etc then you have to configure the onboard GPS redirection thing.
however i just use the gps, so it was easy..
took about 5 minutes first try to get a signal.. 1 minute now...(if that)
If there a problem with TAPI Modem CSD on newer XDAs ?
I knocked up a little VT100 Tapi Terminal emulator, attached to this email if anybody wants it.
It works perfectly on my XDA Orbit and also on an old XDA II that I found.
BUT Why does it not work on the newer XDA Orbit II or the XDA Stella ?
I've played around with all the CSD options under Settings but I keep getting connection dropped. If I put in my home phone number then a hear the same beeping modem sound that I get with my original XDA Orbit.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is CSD not supported on newer devices. I have also tried vxHpc http://www.cam.com/vxhpc.html and that does not work on newer devices either - hence I'm wondering if it is the device and not my program..
