HBH-660 caller-id and name display - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

My recently bought HBH-660 is quite inconsistent with the display of caller-ID and contact name information. More often than not, it displays only the caller number and not the name. Some time it does.... What can be done?
---------------------
1.03.00 WWE
11/01/04
1.01.00
1337.38
1.03.166 WWE

Mine worst.
I need to press vol up or vol down before can see caller id. It is not automatically shown id.
sometimes it is also shown only a number, but sometimes it is a name.
Regards,
Arto.

Your radio firmware is 1.10, wondering if that could be the cause of the need to press the +/- buttons to get the callerID/name display? Alternatively, it could be the batch of the HBH-660... I bought mine only two Sat ago...
I hope the future release of firmware will improve the performance ...
Do you know if the HBH-660 firmware can be upgraded?

Before upgrading to 1.10.00 (when it is 1.01.00) my HBH-660 is already behave like that.
Sony provide upgraded firmware to us...? I don't think so...
Jabra is upgradeable, but Sony HBH-660? I hope I was wrong
Best regards,
Arto

Looks like the HBH-660 has different firmware depending when it was purchased. Mine showed DPY 901 444/01 R1A on the box. What about yours? Can't the firmware version being displayed on the LCD though...

Adam at gsmphonesource.com did an upgrade on mine.
You might check with him to see about upgrades on the hbh660.

Mine is DPY 901 444/03 R1A

BT800 FW Upgrade

Jabra has release a firmware upgrade for the BT800. Has anybody else tried it? I upgraded mine yesterday and it does transfer the sound to the headset much faster. But I'm disappointed because Caller ID doesn't work at all. It used to work with the original firmware, at least showed the caller's number (with the + sign).
I already tried it by uninstalling Mort Ring and still no Caller ID.
I`ve just also loaded this upgrade, it seems to ver.32 new one. 21 is now. What was your version? I did not upgrade yet, waiting result of your experiment. Try to reupgrade
I started a thread in http://www.4winmobile.com/viewtopic.php?p=4949#4949 since I learned about the upgrade from 4winmobile.com and wasn't getting any reaction from here.
I just tested the BT800 on my 1.12 (radio 1.13) Jam.
The caller ID worked partially. It did not show the database name, but the number instead.
The Jabra had the latest available firmware installed and the audio quality was really good!
When we tried ending the call, the BT800 froze up. I don't have a slightest clue about it. I blame everything on the MS stack
Perhaps it works better with the stack extender available in the forum?
I never had the name showing up just the tel. no. and was quite happy about it since a lot of bt800 users were complaining that they get garbled characters in the display.

I can't remember where I read it, but some guy was saying that he was able to get the number and contact name to display on the BT800/Jam combo by exporting the contacts to the SIM card...I suppose it is worth a try. Maybe I'm going to go down an pick up a BT800 myself.
Thanks for the tip Matterhorn but still no Caller ID. The other point is that my S100 is for both business and personal use and I have close to 200 entries in my phonebook, each entry having a minimum of 3 numbers. A SIM card can hold only 250.
Before the software upgrade was done, the BT800 displayed the tel. no. of the caller wether the caller is on my phonebook or not, and that was enough for me knowing that the S100 and the BT800 are not compatible.
After a long exchange of emails between Jabra and myself, finally they request me to ship my BT800 for replacement to their repair center in Holland.

[Edit] Some T-Mobile MDA Pro with Dopod ROM Woes

My brother bought me a MDA Pro from Hong Kong just recently. I'm loving the device so far, except there are a few things I've realized about the device that are rather discomforting. With help from some posts from very smart and friendly posters on this forum, I've managed to "get around" some issues that I've had (adding the BT Icon on Today's screen, for instance -- Thanks, Buzz!), but there are a few concerns I still have left that I was wondering you guys could help me with. So here goes:
1. Although I am getting used to the German "QWERTZ" Keyboard, I would like to "fix" some of the Fn mappings. Is there a utility (free, non-free, whatever) that I could use to remap those combinations?
2. The wireless manager does not display any color to indicate weather a service is turned on or off as shown in the attachment. The "All Off" button also cannot be selected. Is there a way to "activate" them?
3. I'm unable to pair the phone with my Jabra 250 over bluetooth. The same headset works fine with my XDA IIs, so its not the headset. The phone can't even detect the headset. Its pretty basic stuff, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Any pointers to debug this sort of thing?
Thanks, any pointers to any/all of the above will be appreciated!
FWIW, I found the following page on t-mobile germany's website that lists english manuals, including ROM upgrades for the MDA Pro.
https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_mda_pro.htm
I have the following ROM currently installed on my device:
ROM version: 1.13.69 WWE
ROM date: 10/12/05
Radio version: 1.04.02
Protocol version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM version: 1.13.162 WWE
My question is: has anyone attampted upgrading their MDA Pro with the 12/2005 upgrade found on their site? If so, I'd like to know their opinion if its worth doing the upgrade. I'm very tempted to do the upgrade, hoping the new ROM would fix some of the issues I mentioned above.
OK, after several hours of reading various posts on this site, I've learnt a little more about my device. Apparently, I have a Dopod 900 ROM installed on my universal (The Dopod Logo during startup concurs that, too )
Anyhow, I was wondering if any kind soul here could post their WirelessMgr.exe and WirelessMgr_Service.dll from the \Windows folder on their Universal? I could try to replace mine with someone else's to see if that helps at all.
[fixed thread's subject appropriately]
All those views and no replies?
these are from a O2 ROM.
Thanks a lot, dude! I'll replace mine with these when I get home tonight.
bleh... forgot to mention.... backup ur originals just incase

Universal and JABRA BT800

Hello All!
1. As was already discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39514&highlight=bt800
BT800 won't show the Calling Party Name from your Contacts. This appears to be a Universal's SW fault (some users claims the BT800 can show the name on it's LCD screen).
Q: is there any alternative phone software, which supports this functionality? :?:
2. After the BT800 SW upgrade, the annoying "+" appeared. I understand, that on most networks this would help to dial out international numbers directly from BT800.
BUT, my network sends me the local number with "8" prefix (instead of "+7" or "0".
This means, that the number in Russia: "+7 495 123 4567" is shown as "8 495 123 4567". After BT800 "adds" the "+" preifx to this number, it becomes invalid "+8 495 123 4567" and can not be dialed out.
Q: again, is there any alternative phone software, where I can set up the format of the number being sent to the BT handsfree? :?:
Thank you.
Why don't you just downgrade? This will remove the + that most of us do need.
Edit: just read the other post, and saw your response there.
sorry, can't help you any further with other sw.

Yes, I tryed to run both BT-800 firmware, but the previos one (v. 0021) works so horrible, that my call party could not adequately understand me, even the distance between devices was short and GSM signal is strong and when I had to call back my called party with out the BT-800 this right after - the sound quality was perfect.
So, have to use the latest (v. 0032) with no dialing out feature
the .32 is not the latest update
try the new Jabra firmware .34 here

The annoying "missing +" "feature" might work on your network (which is O2, I assume?).
So, the sound quality is good enouhgh with 0032 as well as a operating distance.
Yes, no Contact name available yet- it appears to be the Universal's problem, should be fixed in further ROM releases with a new BT stack

Thank you very much! Will try .34 today!!
Update: Yes, I tryed the 0034 and IT WORKS PERFECT so far!
1. the annoying "+" prefix bug is fixed! So, now Im so happy with my BT800 with dialing out right from the BT800;
2. the Vibra and Ring bug fixed;
3. All the previous sound quality and reaction time implementations remains till 0032;
So, at this time, everything works fine for me. Will continue reporting after a longer period of day-by-day usage
Thanks for the heads-up for the .34 firmware upgrade

Bear in mind that the Jabra BT800 battery life isn't exactly great (~2 days between charge) and apparently the build quality is a bit suss, and it's a bit bulky compared to some.. (mine hasn't fallen apart yet though )
However, being able to dial a number from the call list (only people that have called you appear on this list.. you can't choose who you can have) and showing the number calling is good enough for me
Also be wary that you may run into the "BT dropping headset" problem (which isn't Jabra specific), but is a pain when you have all this flashy new kit, and none of it seems to work nicely. Have a search on the forum if you haven't read about it already.
cheers,
gaspx

Trinity DOES have GPS

This is the information from HTC engineering: the P3600 does have the GPS chip inside. However, it is not a SiRF Star III chip the Artemis is using, but an integrated GPS solution from Qualcomm. Due to poor signal reception it was disabled via software, though it can be also disabled in hardware.
How to check whether your P3600 has hardware GPS support enabled: the RADIO ROM version should end with .01
Current ROMs for P3600 just don't include drivers for GPS unit, and currently HTC is deciding whether they want to enable the GPS function in P3600.

so does that mean mine does not have GPS-hardware?

Mine is .11, I've also seen .1 on the ftp site.
I have never seen a radio ROM with .01 at the end
Damnit HTC, hurry up and unlock the GPS! I'm lost out in the woods and I keep wasting all my GPRS data posting on this stupid forum!
My radioversion is also ending in .11
Does this mean that all dutch versions have a hardware-wise disabled GPS receiver ?
As for the infamous ROM update, i got the same answer as pretty much everyone here:
Dear Customer,
The HTC P3600 currently does not offer GPS Functionality, although a GPS receiver is indeed built into the device. There is a possibility of an update to enable the GPS functions of the device at a future date, and we hope to be able to do this as soon as possible, but we cannot and do not guarantee this. If you buy the P3600 for possible future GPS functionality, you do so entirely at your own risk.

And the answer to my second question wasn't very encouraging either...
In answer to your final question, there are currently no plans for an automatic update to Windows Mobile 6, however this is not confirmed. As far as we know at the moment, WM6 must be purchased seperately. WM5 however, will still be supported.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_phone.html

Whoah----I hope HTC hears our cries and activates the GPS SOON! Let US decide wether it is crappy or not. My radio is .11 as well---I hope I have it.
WM6! I would pay for that on here!
Sorry for a bit misleading post. The GPS receiver is not really disabled in hardware, but rather in RADIO SW, i.e. at a lower level, than OS (which is also the case).
There're some versions (such as RUS) that come with radio .01.
So, in a nutshell, they are saying that Trinity does NOT have a USABLE GPS.
That is to say, even if they choose to enable the crappy chip they have installed it will not perform to the levels we expect/require from consumer GPS hardware.
Time to go buy that bluetooth GPS I think....
take a look to the upgrading part of the forum

So that DOES mean that any ROM update to feature both the OS components as well as the radio-firmware, the GPS WILL be enabled ? Right....?!

What GPS chip has the HTC P3300? is it different from the one in P3600?
Yes, they're different. P3300 uses standard SiRF Star III chip, and P3600 uses integrated GPS solution from Qualcomm.
is this new? found this the other day.... has helped me make up my mind to get the trinity and not the hermes....

In the first ROM update for the HTC P3600, which is currently under development, we do plan on activating the Dormant GPS chipset in the device. Once this has been released it will be possible to use this built-in GPS device for Sat Nav software.

BAD HTC!!!! BAD, SIT!!!

How to test the center phone speaker?

Hi,
My Wizard works fine except for one problem: when using it as a phone, the little top center speaker doesn't work; I hear nothing.
(no, changing the volume level doesn't help.)
I can now only use it as a phone by either activating the speaker phone function (which lets everone else around me hear what's being said), or use a bluetooth headset.
Both are not really convenient.
Is there any way to test the center speaker without first disassembling the whole thing? activate it with another program besides 'telephone'?
Maybe such a test shows the speaker itself is OK, so no disassembling needed (but what then...).
Any help is welcome.

Protocol version 4.1.13.24
