I have a Mda compact. And he has problems to keep connected with my carkit parrot 3100. The connecting falls when I'm having a conversation.
I've turned backlight off, but the connection keeps falling.
Does anybody has a solution for this problem. Also the quality of the picture is very bad. And that for a 1.3 megapixel camera.
i ve no problem to run the mdac with the parrot ck3300.
try to install the newest imate rom...its incl. the handsfree profil.

I am soon to buy the Magician in one of it's many forms. However noe thing i have been woundering is how am i am going to achieve the in-car setup i desire. Basically I need both a carkit (conversation through car stereo speakers etc) and i also want to run GPS navigation on the Magician. First of all is this possible? What happens if i am using the GPS and i recieve a call? Also what hardware are people using to achieve this as i assume i can't use both a bluetooth carkit and a bluetooth GPS reciever?! any hlp is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom,
I've got an iMate Jam & recently installed a Parrot BTluetooth CK3300 GPS Car Kit into my 1999 RAV4. The installation was pretty straight forward for cars with ISO connection, simply put in the mic, GPS ant & control display, plug into the car harness & HiFi & off you go. The GPS part of the kit is simply & effective, I use Tom Tom Navigator 5 & it's pretty faultless, obtaining a fix in seconds. Here's the bad part, the call quality through the kit using the Jam is AWFUL. Making and receiving calls is accompanied by a loud, high pitched warbling sound which eventually subsides, but is replaced by so much interference that the call is unworkable. I know it's not the kit because my wife's SE T68i works flawlessly. Everything else about the setup works perfectly (pairing muting, upgrading via BT etc etc). This a MAJOR problem which I have sent on to Parrot & am waiting for a reply. I understand they are pretty good at customer enquiries and expect them to come back to me pretty soon. I'll post again when I hear something. Despite all the bad press the Jam gets I think it's the best one I've owned so far (I'm on my 5th) and with the right software is excellent, but the choice of car kit is essential, until these problems are ironed out I wouldn't recommend using the PDA with a BT carkit.
Apart from the poor audio, how does it work when you are being navigated by TomTom and you receive a call? Does TomTom stop talking to you? Does the display show who's calling and then go back to tomtom display etc?
Hi there,
I have a MDA compact with now the QTEK 1.12 ROM, I have a bluetooth GPS Fortuna Clip-on and a Mr Handsfree Genius Bluetooth Carkit and I love it.
As soon as I start my car, there is a bluetooth connection to the carkit and the sound quality is excellent. You can make a call without getting the MDA out of your pocket, just push the button. The only issue is voice dialing, but that is a common problem for the MDA.
Also it makes a bluetooth connection to the GPS and Tomtom works fine. The only minus is that Tomtom doesn't use the carkit speaker, but, since the speaker of the MDA is loud enough, that is no issue. There is no supply with this bluetooth carkit, so I bought a 12 --> 5 Volt converter for the MDA.
I really love this combination. The best thing, that happened to me.

so it is possible then to have two bluetooth connections running at the same time? ie. i can use a bluetooth GPS reciever such as the one that is supplied with tom tom and also use any bluetooth carkit at the same time? and this will not cause any problems even if i am making a call and have the GPS running?! If so then i will probably just buy the Tom Tom 5 bluetooth kit and get something like a parrot CK3000? would this setup work?
thanks for everyones help,
Tom
It should work. Mine does. See above. Bluetooth GPS uses a serial profile, bluetooth headset uses a headset profile. No problem to use them both at the same time.
Andre
I used my Jam as phone, mp3 player and GPS all at the same time.
1. MP3 thru my car's aux input
2. GPS thru aux input:
hardware: Tomtom BT receiver
Software: Routis 2, TomTom USA 2004 (can open both if U use GPSGate)
3. Phone thru BT headset or aux input
To answer yr question:
Since I can use both BT GPS and BT headset together. I don't think it's a problem for both BT carkit and BT GPS to works.
Phone call always get highest prioity, all other apps (GPS software, mp3 player) will be mute until U finished yr call.
Phone call is not a problem (see above) but dialing is a big trouble since no voice calling built-in. Third partner software like intellidialer and voice commander (from MS or Cyberon) helps a bit
Ive also got my jam working fine incar. I use a socket bluetooth gps unit http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119717 with tomtom 5 then I have a SE HBH-600 Akono Bluetooth Headset for calls both work together! When I have a incoming call it mutes tomtom and displays the normal caller id app on top, answering the call (via the green hardware button) results in my jam going to the phone app totally and leaving tomtom minimized in the background. As soon as the call ends tomtom jumps back to the foreground, it all works very well in my opinion. Ive also assigned the camera button to switch me back to the today screen so I can launch any app (with tomtom still running in the background) via a icon.
Me, and along with me quite some Parrot BT carkit users seem to have the same problem with the TyTN Bluetooth. The phone syncs, but randomly disconnects, or even worse, just switches off BT.
I have the problem on my Audi MMI integrated BT carkit, but also on my Parrot in the other car. Anyone any idea's to fix?
I used Jetware before to enhance the possibilities of BT on my Qtek 9100 and there everything just worked fine. Seems to be a TyTN problem.
BTW, also have some sticky keys

Hi to all.
Have any of You experience with connecting TyTN to more sophisticated bt carkit. Mine connects perfectly to my simple motorola carkit but does not want to connect to Parrot 3100 at all.
Hi varden,
There are some issues with tytn an parrot CK connection. As it is discussed on this thread, Parrot is aware of the problem and say they are waiting for a tytn unit to test it and solve the problems.

Regards.
Do You know of any other working carkit with an LCD and contacts importing?
My Audi BT carkit doesn't work with the TyTN,
It connects and stays connected for about 5 minutes, then it randomly disconnects and reconnects and sometimes just disables the BT on the TyTN
I have no troubles using my Lexus car kit for making calls, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to transfer contacts from the TyTN to the car address book
Just tried my Orange SPV M3100 with my Audi A4 BT carkit, and it all appears to work fine so far.
To the Lexus guy, most in built car kits I have come accross have the ability to read the contacts off the SIM card. As this is a standard format, car manufactureres don't have to worry about accessing contacts from Symbian, Windows Mobile, Nokia etc etc etc. With my Audi, the first time it connects via Bluetooth, it reads all the contacts from the SIM card. (Note: if you already have a Bluetooth connection created, you will have to delete it and then re-create it to initiate the SIM download bit).
This maybe different on your Lexus, but the mechanism should be explained in your manuals somewhere. If not, Lexus dealers are reknowed for being very helpful, why not try them!

CK 3000?
Does anyone have any experience with the TyTN and the simpler CK 3000 kit?
I use my TyTN with a sony ericsson bluetooth car-kit. It works perfect at the moment. I didn't use it much yet, but it works very well. the TyTN connects much faster then my previous Eten M600
Does anybody have the Tytn work with a Lexus Bluetooth carkit?
If yes - is the phonebook transferred to the carkit?
Thank you
TyTN with Parrot RNB
Hello together,
I'm using the MDA Vario II together with a Parrot RNB. Paring, connecting and phone-book synchronising is working quite well. But I have problems with phoning. While synchronising I can't make a call. When I try I don't hear anything (no ring tone and no speech) and my MDA disconnects after some seconds.
After synchronising the phone handling is quite good. I can reach and make calls either with the RNB or with my MDA and the sound quality of my phone partner is very good. The big problem is, that my speech is muted every two seconds for about one second. So my partner has big problems to understand me.
On the RNB I have the latest firmware, which is about one year old and on my MDA I have the ROM Version: 1.21.111.3 and the Radio Version: 1.05.02.00
Does anyone have some hints for me to solve the problems?
Greetings Pudl
Phonebook transfer to Lexus now works
Finally managed to send contacts over to my LS430 from my Hermes (Cingular 8525).
How you ask?
WM6!
It has an updated bluetooth stack that now interoperates properly.
Finally.
@Mandingo,
How did you achieve this, i just picked up my RX350 and i already have WM6 on my Hermes, but i can only send 1 contact at a time to the car, and it's becoming painful, i wish there was some way i could select all contacts and then send via bluetooth?
if you go to http://www.jetwaremobile.com/ you can download their cab file, then install it and you can push all the contacts over in 1 go.

I have a BMW with bluetooth phone kit (official BMW!) and i couldn't use it with me Symbian phone... Now i have a TyTN and all works great
I stopped using sync on my TyTN with my CK3300. Instead I exported all my contacts from Outlook with the Parrot App, and pushed them over bluetooth to the kit.
You need to select the SonyEricsson K800 NO SYNC when pairing the TyTN so it doesn't sync. The advantages with this is that you can use the dual keyword (name then home/work/mobile) instead of the default sync that just puts all numbers in one long list.
Parrot CK3000
I am using a TyTn with a simply Parrot 3000. It works well. If you have a problem with it, reset the Parrot.
My bluetooth turns itself off after a few min connected to my parrot car kit? any Clues?
ROM 1.35.255.2
Radio 1.18
which parrot model? I am looking for a bt install kit to go with my vario 2. Tried a motorola HT850, worked ok for about a 1hr test except the voice dial button did not activate the voice recognition on the vario 2. This works ok with my Jabra BT200 earpiece, when its not flat !! Hence why I want an installed unit!

I recently purchased the Parrot CK3200 from Amazon to go with my Vario II. It took about 10 minutes to install but that would depend upon the connections on the back of your car stereo. It mutes the stereo and uses the car speakers. It seems to work very well but I don't use the voice dialling so can't comment on that bit.
The only issue I occasionally have is if I leave the Vario BT on when I shut it down, it doesn't always pair when I turn it back on. It then needs me to turn BT off and on again in the comms manager in order to work. Its easy enough to tell when this has happened as I don't get the blue flashing light on the Vario.
any chance of you testing the voice dial (and voice control of opening applications etc if you knew you could do that!) through the parrot system?
Is the ck3200 the "advanced" one with the lcd display? What's your rom version etc....
Cheers in advance.
It is the one with the colour LCD display, I'll test the voice dial later on my drive home. I had no idea you could open application with voice commands, I guess perhaps I should read the instructions (only do this when all else fails).
My Vario II is running
ROM vs 1.21.110.3
Radio vs 1.05.05.00
The parrot is using version 2.03d
Update:- I tried the voice dialling earlier and can report the following.
Pressing the voice dial button on the Parrot triggered the Hermes to wait for a voice tag but using the Hermes microphone. As I drive quite a noisy van this was not successful. After setting up voice recognition on the Parrot and recording new voice tags the Parrot worked reliably but only using the voice tags saved on it not the Hermes.
To use the voice tags saved on the Hermes I now have to press the voice dial button on it rather than the Parrot. Not ideal as this does not automatically mute the stereo.
To conclude, the two pair reliably and if you don't mind recording new voice tags for the Parrot then voice dialling works very well. I also really like the way I can beam photos to the Parrot so that when friends call I get their picture on the screen.
same problem

I have exactly the same problem and I havenĀ“t found solutiont yet. :-(
Bluetooth cutting out on me too
Never had a problem running my Nuvi 660 and Tytn with original ROM. Low and behold, I upgraded to 1.35 with 1.18 radio, and it started cutting out on me. It is driving me up a wall. I am now sorry I upgraded the ROM. I was debating reinstalling 1.04 bootloader and installing 1.21 radio (which I had installed with original Tytn Rom and no bluetooth problem) with 1.35 ROM. Any thoughts here would be appreciated.
I solved the BT problem with my Orange SPV M3100 by setting it to never switch off the display automatically (only switching off the backlight after 20 seconds or so). I also use an in-car charger to power the TyTN. The car is an A6 with RNS-E (BT enabled) and TyTN works fine and never loses the BT connection as long as the display is active.
This is a mid-term solution though and I'm still eagerly waiting for a ROM update that will solve the problem for good.
Funky
Here's a fix I used on my old wizard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=273990 This will keep bluetooth active when in standby,
Props to Funky B for the fix
I own a JasJam I-mate and have a consistent problem with the Bluetooth communication with my car speaker Parrot ck3300 and parrot 3400 ls-gps and my Bluetooth Motorola earphone hs820 .The problem is that when I switch the car on the Bluetooth communication is working OK the first time. Once the car switch it off and start again the I-mate is not being paired although it show that the Bluetooth is activated ( flashing purple light) but no pairing occurs. When I check the I-mate in the Bluetooth definitions the checkbox for pairing is disabled. The only way to connect again is to reset the I-mate.
Please help me.
Thank you
